For some reason Tony didn't use the direct link when the announcement was posted - he linked to the second section on the page. I've now updated the announcement to use the right anchor on the downloads page.

My fault :-[, knowing the track list is in alphabetical order, the link I gave Tony involved less scrolling to 'Loch Rannoch' then the very start of the page.

I'm sure it's down to being a bit excited about our first event  :D

Just d/led the new XD2 thingy for GTL.

It doesn't seem to matter what car I take the tyres have gone red by the end of the warm up lap.

Temps and wear indicators look normal.

Just wonder if this is a bug.

Have had the earlier version in PnG and no probs

Yessssssss....Loch Rannoch! I hope I haven't over hyped this but I remember an awesome bude race around here - ah well, it's what the fun ones are for I guess.

Can't load Aston until something else it's cloned from is there, err Cobra? you get "car not present on server"

Got the Healey into the mid 1:41's if that's any help.

I'm sure that it is a real road but I do not know if racing has ever occured there. Probably just the locals eh?

Loch Rannoch (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Raineach) is a large body of fresh water in Perth and Kinross, Scotland.

The loch is over 15 kilometres long in an east-west direction with an average width of about 1 kilometre.
The River Tummel begins at its eastern end.
The Tay Forest Park lies along its southern shore.
The wild Rannoch Moor extends to the west of the loch and used to be part of the Caledonian Forest that stretched across much of Northern Scotland.
This is proven in part by the presence of Scots Pine stumps preserved in the boggy areas of the moor, and pollen records from peat cores.

I was managing 1:43's occasional 42's there in Jag, but I've only done a few complete laps, as most of them
were a semi controlled crash after the ski jump, or into the side of the old Castle

I might have squeaked a couple of 1:43's but no better, Ade is obviously our newest GTL  :alien:

I know what you mean about "the jump" Matt, but if you pick the right line & ease off the accelerator it can be done consistently.
Everyone will certainly need to use extra caution on lap one or half the field might get wiped out (probably by a green car ;)).

Have you followed another car through the jump yet? Nice  8)

If you manage to hold it straight over the jump, you can just about make it stay on the road, mostly it shoots off
to one side or the other and you get cut track  :lol:

Also in the Healey, I managed to get a low 1:41, but also found it quite easy to keep within a second of that...at least on the occasions when I didn't wipe out! :)

For the jump, I knock it down to third just before I go over the top and keep half throttle; this really helps to keep the stability when landing. For those who keep loosing it under braking, set your brakes with a good lump of forward bias.

I'm mid to high 1:41's in the GT350 ;D. Good fun again this Shelby, it's like an obese ballerina  ;D

Guys, if you experience a flashing screen when you (or someone else) joins the server... you probably have not installed the Aston Martin DB4 (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#msg54518) on your PC yet  :)

Your quite right. I checked it out using google earth and I couldn't make the circuit out.

I may join you there PR.  Unfortunately could only drag 43s out of the Merc, either not enough practice or its slightly low power to weight ratio doesn't make it ideal.  May try the GT350 too, should be like threading an aircraft carrier down a drainage ditch on this track.

While the Merc is probably not the quickest, I found it the easiest to land the jump with, so more consistent lapping  :).

I'll be on the server (& TS) from about 9pm if anyone's up for some practice in company.

I hope to be on about 10:30ish for a spot of Haggis squashing

Just had a few quick races and noticed that once you get a few cars on the track, there is a big hit on the FPS, and my gfx ain't too bad. If you don't have the best then it might be worth knocking your settings down somewhat.

Should be a fun race, but i reckon there's gonna be quite a few casualties!

Yup good crowd (even Jeff showing us how it's done :o) & good fun tonight guys, but as Mike hints about... people need to be show caution & on the 1st lap especially!

Would all Drivers please ensure that they are displaying their Car Parking tickets clearly.

Please also remember to show due consideration for other drivers and use the lay-bys provided for passing. Don't forget to take your litter home with you and remember a sheep is for life, not just for splattering when it wanders out in front of you.

When I was exiting the pits, I'm sure I saw a road sign advertising a camp site just down the road... So any of you boys with far to travel are sorted  ;)

Is there a distillery nearby?  I might stop for nightcap mid-way through if there is......

Just for the info of anyone taking the E-type tonight (as I am).
The skinned E-types have previously caused problems on the server. I recall that they contain a UKGTR file that is too long. Dave Gymer fixed it for one of the Skinpacks but on a subsequent Skinpack update the problem returned.
If it happens tonight the simple solution is to take an E-type supplied by the game with a standard skin.

The Blair Athol Distillery is about 5miles due east

The best bit about this whole race, even before it's run..is listening to Legzy on Teamspeak slowly turning into the wedding planner 'Is anyone taking the Shelby?  Are the track cut warnings too severe?... who put Auntie Mable on the top table?...oh my god the flowers!!!!' ;D

Bloody internet cut out again!  >:(  Shame really as up until that point, I was enjoying the racing and track very much indeed. Managed to qualify on Pole in a tail-happy Jag, made a good start and proceeded to break away from the pack. It remained that way for a good 10 laps or so until I lost the back end under braking for the first corner. After recovering, Mike was closing in but half a lap later he disappeared  :-\. Never mind, just one of the perils of sim-racing.

Disappointing evening -
Lost the connection during qualification   :cursing:  but managed to rejoin in time for the race   :thumbup2:

Started from 20th or 21st and picked up a few places on Lap1 and a few more during L2.  Started L3 in 15th and having avoided a spinning Laslow to move to 14th just after the first 'S' bend I lost the dam connection again   :cursing: :cursing: :2guns:. Shame because it was shaping up for a good 'ding-dong' battle at the backend.

Hope you enjoy the race and grats to podium whoever you turn out to be.

Was fun, thanks all! My race went ok till the lap 11, when I crashed head on with a Alpine at the start line. I was second, and then dropped some places, steering went bad, I had to fight till the end, got one stop/go penalty, serverd that and Legzy handed me the 8th place as a gift! Thanks Legz! Nice driving all, the track is so much fun.

Sorry guys but due to me having a senior moment the replay and results will be available sometime next Tuesday. Or as soon as I can get someone to show me how it's all done again.

What a complete shambles!

Where to start...

GFX...don't know what was going on tonight but it wasn't good. There were plenty of people on track, and even when amoung traffic, there were no real problems, then suddenly, jerk city...to the point where the game almost stopped! I'd already reduced my settings but half way through qualy I went off to twiddle some more. When I returned things seemed better, although you could tell it wasn't perfect, and this was with around 100 FPS. Something very strange was happening for sure.

Okay, so I managed to qualify on the third row and also made a pretty decent start, gaining a place...maybe even two - things we're actually going very well; I was driving smoothly, no real incidents and managed to eventually pull into second place. I was keeping well ahead of dynasour (I think) and after Sam dissapeared (lost connection it seems) I was running in first place.

Very happy chappy indeed!

So, here I am, driving clean with reasonable laps times when it struck me, we had to make a pit stop!  :-[ On the bright side, I had managed to get into first place with 23 laps of fuel on board!

Although I had a solid lead, it seemed I was starting to catch the back markers, so I figured what the hell, let's make that stop. So I pulled into to pits and...the sky fell on my head!

Half the keys for my pit were not working and in my franticness to find the right ones, I managed to put even more fuel in with no way to take it out! At least I managed to not repair anything, but still ended up with a ton of fuel and new tyres. To top it all off, I ended up speeding in the pit, so in I came again! >:(

After rejoining the track I was still actually driving okay, but with all that fuel onboard, I just couldn't keep the pace.

At this point I think steam was coming off my ears and as I was not paying proper attention, I ploughed into someone who had spun at the start/finish line. After that I'd had enough and quit.

As for my keys, well, I went into the settings and they all looked good but on trying to re-enter them, I was getting complete nonsense, a couple of them were giving "--" ...very weird. I'll need to look into that next time.

I was driving well and feel there was a real chance of winning here, at least after Samb left, so I am bitterly disapointed.

Edit: Now that I've calmed down a little I'd just like to say -- excellent start to new management, Tony and Legzy! This is a fantastically fun track and you guys have done a great job in organising it. I'm looking forward to the PnG season :)

Much better race than I expected, as In I managed to finish.
2nd on Grid! huh? had some physical with the Oily one as I tried not to get in anyone's way until
I got used to it. fell off on the bridge like a prat with an unforced newbie error, dropped from
2nd to 13th.... sigh, worked my way up to 2nd again! partly through some decent laps and partly
as people went lochside. Followed Ade for a couple, then passed him on the hill down to the bridge
was wayyyyy too polite and gave him more room than required, wheel on gravel spun into fence
worked back up into 3rd, could not now catch Ruskus as I was slower than earlier , and he was on a roll
Odd, and awkward track, but rather fun.
Should have taken non skin Jag I guess, but had not looked at posts before race , sorry.

Seems I was getting mixed up with the PnG race with the pit stops...so now I just feel like a prat!

You had me going there for a while Mike, and in the replay Mr Ruskus takes a pit stop, so then I was REALLY worried

Today I was checking out the PnG post and getting excited about the Season, but mid-race is certainly not the best time to have thoughts about pit stops popping back into your mind...ruinded my whole bloody race!

Decided to start from the back as that normally gives good racing, and this was no exception ;D.

Was great fun trying to get to the front and rally my way through the track :P

Halfway I was in the lead but got a immediat s/g for hitting some gravel under the overhead thingy  :-\
Dropped back to 7th or so and could start over again :D.
Ade was too far and quick to catch again, but enjoyed every lap of this race.

Same as last time, if you enjoyed this race so much I can make a video, but it would help me if you checked the replay for good moments :D

When i was in 2nd trying to keep Steve behind me, spun after the S/F line and ruinned
my race aswell Steve's race. I'm really sorry about that, but just couldn't get out of the way,
that's why i rather like race circuits, we spun and have plenty of space to escape.  ;D

Although been a fun race, everybody drove really well and clean.

Congrats to Mr. ADE and to podium. And to Jeff's twice-recovering.

Nah, I did have a couple of concerns what with it being the first race Tony & me have put on, but as Mr Formby often said... Turned out nice again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55-oNqY1yTU).  :D

Took the DB4 so all six cars would be represented on the grid & very happy that I did. It was a bit tricky landing the jump, but which car wasn't  ;). Good racing with numerous people, even Oily  ;)

Sorry to Mike for being in your way there and trashing your race, after PR lost it and I ran into him (no problem mate  ;))  I found myself pointing diagonally across the track and with no such thing as trackIR my look right didn't show me the track so I had to get moving at some point and ended up right in your path.  :(

Bitterly disappointed at my race, managed to keep up the concentration for most of the race and sat comfortably in 2nd just behind Ade from mid distance and then just started losing concentration and making small mistakes which dropped me back and let PR by.  Then it all went horribly wrong and in the last few laps lost over 30s to Ade with a series of crashes. Pretty annoyed by my driving there, probably shouldn't have raced that tired.  Seems like the curse of the Merc struck PR too though. 

Good win though Ade, and I loved our side by side over the jump, that was what its all about, close fair racing with a hint of door rubbing.  :)

You can change camera in tv cam and 3rd person cam by using mouse look tool, which you must put on a button the in controls options screen.

One minor thing did you mean to have the GT Legends logo showing? There is a fix at nogrip that removes it from replays.

The mouse cam will always stay attached to the original camera, there is no option like in rFactor.
