A shame, as I like Estoril. :(

Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: FlyBri on September 06, 2005, 05:21:36 PM +0100 I will be attending, however up until last night i have never even practiced let alone raced at Estoril :o
Whats a reasonable time to aim for (mid grid kind of times) ? Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: Luis Branco on September 06, 2005, 06:23:17 PM +0100 I do hope to race tomorrow. After all it’s my home track ;)
However I didn’t run GTR again since last Wednesday race at Oschers has I’m currently building a new PC system, however too lazy to do it as fast as I should :-[ My older brother PC finally went dead and so he is keeping my previous system (PIV 3.4, 2GB Ram, 80 GB HD, Sapphire X800 XT PE, SB Audigy 2 ZS, DVD Writer, 480W PS, Asus P4P800) and I bought a new one for my self ;D (AMD 3800+, Asus A8n-SLI, 2GB Ram, 160 GB HD, XFX 7800 GTX Extreme, SB Audigy 2 ZS, DVD Writer, 470W PS) So, to add to the rest, I’m now using a Thermaltake Shark and must install WXP Pro, all my photo software, setup network connection, install all the other software – printer, Track IR, Momo Force, Audigy, X52 Saitek and the rest of stuff – plus GTR, RBR and Lomac FC. I don’t think I’ll have the new machine running for tomorrow (I’m terribly lazy indeed at night :) ), but has I still have the other PC with me – still have to make copy of several word, excel, photos and other stuff as well – I’ll probably use it to race. Now, I do hope to have a better performance then last week race, as worst then that is quite difficult ::) Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: [ZiP]Tyf on September 06, 2005, 06:30:45 PM +0100 ...I’m now using a Thermaltake Shark... So that's your trick! You two drive together! Ch34t0rz! :D ;D T Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: bernie_eccle on September 06, 2005, 09:09:25 PM +0100 Guys
I am going to give tomorrow night a miss. I have had a bit practice and I just can't get a lap in. I don't mean I can't do a fast lap (which I can't) I mean I have only managed about 2 laps in total with out running off the road somewhere. Hopefully this will allow enough time for one of the reserve drivers to get a run. I will be back Monza next week though, so look out all those who, like me, enjoy qualifying in the 2nd half of the grid :D Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: rufbtr on September 07, 2005, 07:00:47 PM +0100 can i give it go tonight ? in the seat diesel TDI.

Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: greg130 on September 07, 2005, 10:06:55 PM +0100 Well what a horrid race for me, really dont enjoy that track.
Qualed in 8th and finished 5th, which on the face of it sounds good. However I just cant get it together at Estoril so every lap seems to be a struggle to stay on. Oh well bring on monza. Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: JonM_uk on September 07, 2005, 10:09:31 PM +0100 Qualified ok and was leading till i spun midway through race, splitter and tyre gone :( Seemed to be beached for a while but got going in the end. Think that just about wraps up GT sprint championship with Shark and Mark not racing ;) Grats to Blaz on the victory, Looks like double Sloveni(j)a victory with a 2-1 in the football also.

Ended up blowing the engine through downshifting to quick to try and push a little harder
Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: Blaz on September 07, 2005, 10:20:26 PM +0100 I like the track.
Qualified 4th. Passed SBG early, made clear race, very carefull, small mistakes. Jon and Luis made mistakes and i won. Hvala. Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: ginsters sponsored on September 07, 2005, 10:26:08 PM +0100 Tonights poor turnout really put a dampener on things for me.
After some good praccy I was getting to like, perhaps dislike less is more accurate, estoril and was really looking forward to race. Pretty good quali for me, happy to see it put me a few places in front of greg, my main rival, in third spot if someway of Jons awesome pace. As per usual had blaz breathing down my neck pretty quickly in race and enjoyed trying to hold him off. But he eventually got past, congrats on fine win m8, and I began to settle for my fourth. Got promoted to third when jon span (mixed feelings here, gutted for John but joy because I thought England had equalised and caused his mistake) and nearly picked up second but I think louis might have been toying with me ;). A podium would normally have me buzzing but tonight it had a real hollow ring to it. Still it does mean Monza is going to determine my final standing. And it might have been worse, I could have gone to pub to watch footy instead. After that i was last but managed to find my rhythem and was banging in some good laps, caught and passed a few cars, 2 more spun off in front of me, got up to 6th position mid race. Then like A noob spun at turn three, got back on track and came off next corner, by now completely lost my rhythem and over cooked my tyres. Spun another time, eased off my pace to get tyres cooler, and manged to build up some speed again, and finished 6th. Another race to forget!
Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: Luis Branco on September 08, 2005, 11:21:20 AM +0100 Well, that was a better race then my last Oschers disaster but still not good.
I’m still not braking as well as I should which is ruining my lap times and my tyres. After an average qualifying lap (PB is 1.34, qualified with 1.36) I went to race determined to stay in track and avoid spinning. Nonetheless I made two mistakes. The first at Tanque corner, when I braked badly and had to make a wide turn not to spin. I was able to control the car but lost time by going to the gravel. I was following Jon within 1 sec distance but after that off road incursion I started to drive a bit slower to avoid any more surprises. However the bad braking persisted and my tyres started to get ruined much sooner then normal. After Jon spin I got 1st place (a pity Jon, as you had a 10 sec lead :( ). My tyres problems started to get worse to the point that Blaz easily closed the gap from 5 to little more then 1 sec. Again I had a difficult turn at T1, with a spin that made me lose a place to Blaz. From that on the tyres become terrible and I was just looking for the end as ginsters was closing the gap very fast. Fortunately the race ended before losing 2nd place ;D. Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: Truetom on September 08, 2005, 12:23:16 PM +0100 Yea, Flybri, too bad! Accidents happen, so that's not a problem. I'm just a bit sad, 'cause there was a good option for a better score.
I started 5th (I think) and fell to 8th place after accident with Flybri. Came to 4th place to the end and was closing to Louis and SBG on 2nd/3rd place over a second per lap in the last minutes of the race. Two more laps and there would be a threesome fight for 2nd place. I wish I was there sooner. :-\ On to Monza. Title: Re: GT Sprint Cup - Season 1, Round 9, Estoril - Sept 7th Post by: Mark Harrison on September 08, 2005, 01:19:20 PM +0100 :(
Missed it. No internet connection last night. Sodding NTL :( Congrats Blaz, anyway. I had to stop and you guessed it took on too much fuel again.Never mind I enjoyed it.gerald

After watching the replay it was really unfortunate because i only just touched u (if i had been 0.1 sec further behind i would have missed u and still made the corner) as u turned into hairpin, i am gutted, i hate making mistakes on my own let alone when i take someone else out too. I am glad i ended up in gravel trap too, justice was done!! If it makes u feel any better i ended up last after our comming together! ;D Thx for taking how u have, a leason learnt (hopefully!!) on my part. I've done my part in that (ask Fozzmeister). :-[
