I am so NOT looking forward to this. The original LRP is a fun track, this just infuriates me! ;D

Short race for me, engine just died without drama after a few laps. Says "header" as a cause. I don't think I was pushing it, just driving normally, so just one of those days.

Hehe :)

I did not notice the >2.7 restriction and joined via igor in the 312.
Igor had all choices open so it was obviously not set up right.

As it happens although I could blow past everyone on the straight my overal lap time was slower that what I do in the 246. This was confirmed by Dave in a 2lt Lotus who held on to me for the whole race.
Unfortnately I had not allowed enough gas and started to run dry on the last lap. Dave was able to pass my spluttering Ferrari and take the win by 0.4 of a sec.

Grats Dave and all finishers.

Messed my race up.

Bernie span in front, while Jethro was trying an overtake, not sure if they touched.  I thought I got by OK, didn't feel any contact but the car didn't feel the same after I passed close by to Bernie's spinning car.  Sorry if I held you up Fulvio, I wasn't trying to block you, honest.  I was just all over the place for some reason.

Ran pathetically wide in the last turn and flipped the car on the bank.  Very weird.

WD to those who finished.

Was having a good race with Steve and Fulvio, then Jethro's BRM ,who was playing catch up after a spin , caught back up with us on around L10 and then rather rudely I thought,  rear ended me in his hurry to pass going into the braking zone for the fast downhill R/H one eighty,  I did a quick 360 spin and carried on though after that my car was never the same, felt a little wierd like kind of with understeery coming out of corners, I gradually dropped back but had a lonely but clear run into P6 once  Steve, who was going very well , had crashed out .
Pity cause it had the makings of a good un !

It was good to finish in one piece on this tricky little circuit which I have to add is a blast to drive in the 66's but I need to work on the set up as my lap times were way off the pace .

Grats to the Pod and all them what finished , commiserations to them what didn't and better luck next time.

Until then remember ......

Not sure what happened to me in this race, I seemed to be involved in a couple incidents that were due to early braking that completely caught me out.

Qualy was alright, I was aiming for 42s but couldn't get below a 43, and the 43.4 was about right for pace. It put me 5th on the grid.

Start was good, got up to 5th by T1, then Hristo dropped out and I was 3rd, then my memory's a bit fuzzy but I remember hitting Mike gently at the hairpin halfway round the lap after he braked a little early and I couldn't avoid him. I went and had my own accident, and ended up near the back! Chastised myself for such a stupid cockup, but carried on.

Coming up to a couple cars, I did OK in S1, then coming down to that 3rd-gear right-hander in S2, Bernie's gearbox rapidly closes on the nose of my BRM and I have to take avoiding action down the inside of him otherwise I'm off. No idea if we touched, no idea what actually happened, will check replay as soon as it's up, I didn't save mine.

To finish 5th was OK despite the drop-outs and reduced grid, to finish 50 seconds or so down on the winner irked me somewhat, as I made 3 fundamental cockups and couldn't recover from them. Guess it's what I get for not practicing these cars enough. :)

Engine popped on me about 5 laps or so into the race. The Ferraris had a big advantage on the long front straight, though seemed a handful in the twisty stuff, where my Lotus 33 BRM could catch them. Paul git through in the charge to T1, as I had to lift to stay behind Hristo, but didn't pull far enough over to block the inside line.

Luckily I used my mirrors into the Hairpin as an over enthusiastic approch by the BRM saw it sail up the inside and way past the corner :)

Paul was holding me up thru the twisty bits, and this let the next Ferrari close, I then spun and was back to fourth chasing Tim (?), he had just run wide into T2 at the top of the hill and in my eagerness to get the jump on him I must have full power shifted and Bang that was that.

Hadn't done too much running at this track, and frankly I don't rate it as an Online race venue, too many off camber corners, blind brows and no braking marks. Please reconsider its future.

And on my own side, I should probably have used the little Eagle, rather than the twitchy L33....Ah the benefits of 20/20 Hindsight  ;D

Personally I love LRM - It's as much a test of mental stamina as driving skill  :)

Thought I could make a fair showing of myself for this and was happy to get 3rd on the grid (car wasn't really right in qualifying guise so was actually quicker in race trim  ::))

Got a great start and was even half a hair ahead of H for a second or so in T1, think we entered T2 side-by-side before diving off down the hill. I was still sticking to my side of the track as who-ever was behind was too close for me to safely pull back in, this resulted in me messing up my entry to the long downhill right hander where I fell off  :hammer:

Now dead last I re-started the chase back up the pack - fought my way cleanly upto 3rd through a combination of legit passes and others mistakes.
At one point I closed to within about 4 seconds of the leaders but then span at the T2 hairpin as Mike mentioned above - this dropped me back to about 9 seconds behind.
The gap wobbled about between 7 seconds and 10 through the rest of the race but I could never claw them back and hold the advantage long enough to close.....

Congrats on a good close finish to the leaders (even the unintentional cheat  :P  ;D) and well done all finishers

Once I had found a friendly setup I also much enjoyed this circuit which I only downloaded two days prior to race and was pleased to get my speed up to within the usual (slightly less than good enough to win on my own merits) pace!

I knew that my only chance was make no mistakes and take full advantage of others boobies which seemed to be in plentiful supply the first few laps ;-)  Hristo was unfortunate to damage his engine as he was taking it so easy at his usual world beating pace up front!  Hristo, please refrain from damaging our self esteem even further when you pull off into the distance to tell us afterwards how easy you were taking it.  It doesn't help! ::)

After a few laps I was surprised to find I had some welcome space behind and just Paul to beat in front.  I managed to stay on his tail and even got in front briefly when he half spun but he breezed back past down the straight.  This was a bit frustrating as I managed most laps to close a bit on the twisty and jumpy bits but even with my best final turn exits couldn't seem to get a drag down the straight.  It didn't occur to me that he'd taken the 3L, although as he said the overall lap times do not seem quicker at this track, and this does seem to be confirmed on GPL rank.  Anyway on the last lap he did a Ferrari/Massa to run low on fuel and he conceded the win.  ;D  Bad luck Paul and thanks for the close dicing fun for so many laps, you took all the pressure infuriatingly well!

Right, I have to apologise to the following people.

Paul and Mike for the first lap screwup into the hairpin, this was due to me braking just a tad late (really just a smidgen, I was braking there all race) and Mike and Paul braking comparitively early; I dived straight for the inside and prayed I didn't hit anybody. Sorry for that!

Bernie for the touch into that downhill right-hander, I braked normally for it (about where the marshall was), then found your gearbox fast approaching when you braked rather early, and I had to take evasive action; again I dived for the inside of the corner and hoped I didn't hit anything. Unfortunately that didn't quite work out. If I'd stayed online, I'd have rear-ended you properly, and you'd have still been mad! Apologies to you. :)

"It didn't occur to me that he'd taken the 3L, although as he said the overall lap times do not seem quicker at this track, and this does seem to be confirmed on GPL rank."

Gee, that explains a lot, I wondered why he was losing me on the straights. Certainly it was darn slow in the twisty bits.

Should there not be a select list of cars available, or are we stuck with the the full Mod list of 3L & sub 3 Ls when using the 66?

How about a re-run !!!!

I claim Force Majeure

I'm taking it to the FIA

Heck, let's go higher.... Bill Gates

I don't think there's any room for discussion regarding wrong car choice. The race announcement clearly states the type of cars, 2L or 3L, that are allowed. More than that, it lists the exact cars that everyone can take according to their position in the championship.

It doesn't matter if the server allows taking a faster car or not. In the end if someone wants they can even run 69s or 67s or whatever. Paul knows well we run 2L and 3L separately. We never run mixed races in this championship. Yet he assumed he can take a 3L, which would imply he thought all of us were running 3L?

If Paul entered the server I assume he read the password at the race announcement page. It's up to everyone to read that before each race and take the correct chassis. Shame about Paul's wrong car choice, but it doesn't change the fact he broke a rule, regardless if it's intentional or not. I don't know what penalties are given for such situation, that's up to the moderators, but personally I don't see any reasonable excuse here that could be a mitigating factor. What if it was on a track that 3Ls have a huge advantage over 2L? Does judgment change according to race results?

Re-run in my opinion is out of question.

Nothing personal, Paul, but if I ever do what you did I'll ask for my own DQ and not look for excuses. Anything less doesn't sound reasonable to me... but anyway, up to moderators.

Mad ! Me ! I aint mad , a little insane at times maybe  ;)

As some may remember I have already had quite a rant on the subject of being ingratiously rear ended , even my old sparring partner Burt got a dose of the "alonso abuse" treatment, Aspjern being another and I know he'se having a bad time right now .
Have to say that now I'm just resigned to the fact that shit happens , Its really up to you guys to follow the rules of good driver conduct and drive accordingly , though we all can make errors of judgement from time to time, some seem to hog the privalage more than others.

But no point in me banging on about a subject thats already done to death elsewhere !

That's about what I would expect from you Hristo ( Mr Perfect ) but to be honest I could not give a stuff about the points.

I had just finished 44 laps at Firebird with GPLRACER and as I exited that server back into igor I noticed the UKGPL race which had 10 mins qually left.
I checked the race thread to see if I was handicapped which I was not, and checked the pass. I had no time to read the rest of the post.
I clicked on the join button and all choices were open to me so I took my usual car, the 312.
It is so damn easy to setup igor to restrict cars and we spent allot of time with Phil ( guru ) and Christoph making it so. The server should have been set correctly and it wasn't.
Other leagues do not have problems with this so why does UKGPL ? Even the Sunday pickup races could do it.

I was focused on getting a setup working in a limited time and did not notice what other drivers were using. When I got to the grid I did think it strange that I seemed to be the only 3lt, but I know that track favours the small cars so I just figured no one wanted to drive a 3lt.
After the race I mentioned this and was told it was restricted, but too late. Someone could have told me while I was in qually but they didn't.

Anyway like I said, I am only here for a bit of fun and I do not care about points. As long as I have a few pixels to chase I am happy :)

Folks,
My Re-run remark was exceedingly tongue in cheek, so there's no need for any debate on the issue :)

Thanks Paul for clarifying the car selection option, I was pretty sure it was there, but not 100%

BTW How about A: Getting out of the red cars once in a while and B: getting a set up that doesn't wag its tail like a labrador in front of a bowl of Pedigree Chum. It makes your ass seem wider than Ophrah's :D

It's about time a man of your ability drove something more challenging ;)

I wasn't expecting any 3L cars, and I only found out about Paul being in the 312 after the race. It is also very difficult to police, although very noticeable in the race because the way he breezed past one car on the straight had me agog when I checked the replay! :D

Paul, I have to admit I've never seen an option in IGOR and don't know how to do that, or that it could be done. Hence the server is not set with a restriction. An idiot's guide would be appreciated...

When you set up the server in iGOR, you can restrict entry to certain cars. It's difficult to do, but not impossible. I can walk you through it in a short while, as I remember doing it once for Albi.

Right, it's easier to do than I thought. The cars are listed under "Security" (where the password entry and "allowed mods" is), and they're done in mod order, so the BT11 variants are the first 3, then the BT19, then the BRM P83, P261, Cooper, Eagle T1G, T1F, Ferrari 312 etc. The rest are easy to figure out, it's just the Brabham ones I check.

The numbers in that section you need checked for the 2L races are: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 11, 14 and 15.
For the 3L races, you need numbers: 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13 and 16.

Hope that helps. :)

OK - I've only ever seen an option for 67/66/65 etc not a subset for the 66's. I don't start the 66 races but can make any changes to ini files beforehand
