Nice track choice 8) had a blast tonight  ;D just to get the ball rolling I did a 1:02.355 In the Cortina, don't know why my fastest lap times never show up on GTL rank :( running in 14th at the moment for the GT65s could have made it to 9th with that time :( in 4th with the Cortina at the moment  :) would have made it to 2nd if my time got saved as they should :( top 3 places are held by the Alfa 1:01.406 so a bit more to come i think.

The track is a lurverly short fast thing, no really slow corners for easy overtaking, but should prove a blast
So far 1:03.0 in Tina 1:03.4 in Alfa, 1:05:xx in the Japanese thing.
Got some extreme gardening tonight rain permitting, might creep on server much later.

IIRC... I was 1:03.2 in the Alfa, 1:04.2 in Corolla, 1:04.5 in Falcon (but it was late & I didn't do many Falcon laps).

Great little track. Had some fun on the server last night & got 1.02.4 in the Mini. Might give the Alfa & Falcon a go tonight. The Falcon doesn't feature well on GTL Rank but I'm sure the S/F straight should give it some advantage.

(..) don't know why my fastest lap times never show up on GTL rank :(  (...)

Have you checked your career.blt in notepad? GTL has a habit of messing up the file if you only drive a track online because it cannot find the entry for the track in the file (at least that's my experience..)  :-\

btw., below a picture of the glorious entry to the venue of UKGTL's Round 1  ;D

Any possibility of using Mr. Lazlow's brainwave and getting the server kicked off a little earlier, ie. set it for a couple of hours practice so everyone's not all joining at once upon reset?

Love to oblige mate but it's too short notice and folk will be trying to get in using the wrong password.

Promise it will be sorted for all future events though.

Having a good time until I lost the connection.
Apologies to Spanner for ever such a slight tap - I waited for you and we both fell to the back of the field. Great fun fighting my way back. Legzy was just in front of me and I had my car set up to be better as it got further into the race, so I feel I could have got him (that's what I tell myself, anyway)

Cheers

TC

I also had a picture freeze on lap 13, just as things were beginning to get interesting.

Got caught up in the start shambles someone appeared to be stationary and I hit the car in front and had a number of rear hits on me, eventually got away last.  A couple of drivers let me through - thanks and I started to work my way slowly back up the field past a Falcon when it ran wide then a few seconds later it all froze up on me - hope it didn't cause too many problems, it took a time to get out of it.

I had a system freezing issue in practice. (Where the sound carries on but the screen doesn't update.) So I came back only for Matt Rowe to cause my game to not work by his car choice. Game just kept trying to load the car. (Had the same issue last week when someone chose the wrong car.) So I downloaded and reinstalled the skins and Corolla on the off chance. Seemed to work.

Qualifying was pathetic as I never got a clean lap and gave up.

Few laps into the race everyone disappeared. I just kept motoring and eventually you all came back. Race was just starting to get interesting when everyone disappeared and this time it stayed that way and I lost connection.

So in other words an utter bloody farce and complete waste of time.

What a mess.
Had a good race going, classic battle with Phil untill I overcooked it in the 2nd to last, ot going again
and people started dropping, then "next track"

2nd race... err what gives?

Started 3rd onthe grid, coolest, set off quite well behind Ade who's foot appeared to fall of the pedals
as he slowed, (or my KERS cut in) lifted but tapped him, somehow ended up falling off in my attempts to
avoid. Got going again at the back, err thanks for that. Caught Tony , then onto the straight, Tony goes left
I go right, folowing Legzy who for some bizzare reason almost come to a stop!!!!!!!!! Brakes parachutes
anchow...nope, I smack him up the bum. get going, catch and pass Tony after his weaving from side to
side, Legzy comes steaming up behind pushes my rear quarter round and spins me off... ok ok I get the
message I'm outta here  ???

Well that was .....interesting.

race 1 was going reasonably well....apart from the fat arrrrrr....rear end of a falcon in my view all the time

Dont know what happened in the second race....bad start with way too much wheel spin caused a bit of havoc behind (sorry chaps) but eventually got away and was around 8th/9th. But that only lasted till the end of lap 1.....it looked like someone decided to pit but changed his mind at the last moment and ran straight into me when swerving back out of the pit lane entrance  :o :o  so got going again dead last.
made it back up to 9th by the end....good workout for my first race for a while.

Good stuff chaps.

ah... That wasn't quite the situation but it was me! I got side swiped on the exit of the previous bend which sent my wallowy corolla of onto the grass but I was totally new to the handling and it just wouldn't straighten up! ( was my 1st go in the car!) I should have tried and cut into the pits but that wasn't on my mind at the time I was just trying to regain control!! Really sorry bud!

Shame about the first race tho! Was having an almighty duel with Oily!! That was some of the best racing I've had at all! :) Great introduction back to GTL - thanks!

But man that Toybota is slow!

Having just watched the replay myself it does seem that the results are spurious. Please consider them un-official until such time as we can work out if I've done something wrong or the data is corrupted somehow.

Yeah!! does look a bit weird, I was running in 4th behind Lazlow when cars started disappearing and reappearing  ??? then i went off a T1 worrying about the frozen headlights on the track (didn't see any cars just the track lit up by headlights)  only saw Geoffers go past  as  I rejoined , then team speak started breaking up and i lost connection :P :'(

That's is all total haddock phspok & I look forward to you PM'ing me when you've watched the replay.

Please everyone, don't come on the forum after a race & start criticising other drivers for things you 'think' happened in the race. Check the replay, then log an incident report if one is needed. Alternately, if you know you did something stupid, PM an apology to the person who's race you might have spoilt.

The incident report system is there to help everyone improve, not have a go at people.

First, sorry to everyone on the right hand lane of the grid behind me.... :-[... My Mrs distracted me at just the wrong time & in a panic to change gears & hit the accelerator... I think I actually found reverse... eventually
Then I got going & just rolled round a bit till everyone had past me & so I was dead last. Please feel free to report me, it was pathetic/disappointing on my part.

I then had a blast of a race, working my way up from 24th to the 8th that I finally finished.... (20ish laps early sadly).

Race two was good as well, but I made too many silly little errors & again found my self finishing at the very back before finishing about 6th.

I have to say that this track is a real find Tony, well done mate. Definitely a new contender for my top 10 enjoyable tracks.

See you in Estoril next Thursday, hopefully with a few less server problems  ???.

No need to thank me :P after the tizwas with the first race and the rush to get back on server when i saw there was another race i had pressed my pit limiter by accident when i pressed the button for the name tags , sorry about that.

I think some of you should think before posting on the forums (far too eager to slag it all off)
The organisers here work long and hard to make our hobby so much fun, you make it sound like its too much like hard work to drag yourselves on the server once a week for a race (its supposed to be fun)   get over yourselves.

(counts to ten)haaaaa that's better!
Any how had a blast tonight, nice track, good company, good racing :) running in 4th in the first race trying to keep on Lazlows tail up until the server problem (first i thought it was my connection after the mess up i had at the P&G race at Oulton park and was ready to go and kick Richard Branson's face in) ;) so think yourself lucky Branson ;D

Race 2 was brill trying to catch Geoffers in his Mini after my pike up at the start with the pit limiter on  :-[ chased him down until the very last lap and got by coming out of T1 (sorry if i squeezed you a bit hard there Geoffers  :) but it was my only chance) fine driving by the Mini maestro :thumbup2:

Thanks everyone and Legzy and Tony for making it all happen

                                                           Cheers Ade

I completely agree Ade, it's a shame my comments got misinterpreted as a moan against the organisers, but I guess that's understandable given that the server went loopy a short time later.  Without that, it would have been clear I was railing against the 'injustice of it all' after my PC let me down.  A frozen screen and a warning that Nv4_disp.dll isn't responding is a pretty clear PC-end problem.

I was really annoyed as I was having a shovelful of fun fighting in the mid-pack.  I don't have the temperament to practice or fight for wins like I used to, so just jumping on unpracticed and having a dice anywhere in the field is just what I need, all the guys here up and down the grid are such good clean racers.  And then my graphics lock.  >:(

So just to set the record straight, my outburst was not in any way aimed at the organisers or our server gods, in over 2 years here I've never had one word of criticism for the team at SRouk.  (Well, I may have said I wasn't too keen on a track once or twice.  ;))

It doesn't matter but, for curiosity, I finished 7th and not 8th.

Didn't save the replay, due to the reloading track. Later i will download it and try
to understand what happened at 2nd corner. When I was braking (it was very fast)  ;D
I just was kicked - with a 5 tons hammer - and there I was on the grass facing
to the wall and back on track in 21th  :scared:
Nevertheless, the fun was so intense recovering all the places I could.  :D
I want to thank you to the fair driving of all and particulary the very good fights
with Goldtop and Alex (and I am sure it was another good fight, but can't remember
who's with, damn age)  :w00t:

Unfortunately race ended up sooner than we all expected...just when I was about to kill
the worl record of lap time and overtake the first 6 guys.....yeh, right......

Really enjoyed while it lasted.
Congrats to Mr_Oily and Baracus for the intense duel and to Ross's 3rd place.

Cheers

Finally a podium (of sorts...)!

Race 1, got a decent start and after about a lap managed to squeeze past Ade into turn 1 putting me in 3rd.  Then spent the next 20 laps watching Oily and Barrachus disappear into the distance while fending off Ade.  Ade dropped back or had an off as we started lapping back markers and then the server stopped the race.   Bugger, but nice to get my first 'kind of podium'.

Race 2.  Another good start despite turning on my pit lane limiter as we set off.  Had a small battle with Legzy until he took a right hand turn that wasn't there leaving me in 2nd.  Spent a good few laps reeling in Geoffers in his Mini with Ade chasing me again before I had a tank slapper that left me wedged between the bushes and rail so end of race.  Bugger.

Anyhow, definitely a great track choice!

Cheers, Ross.

All I can say is "that was a hell of a lot of fun" and despite the disappointment when the first race ended prematurely the second race made up for it "big time"  So my congratulations to the podium in both races and thanks to Legzy and Tony for organising and everyone there for making it a great night.

Think a special mention is called for to congratulate PR on the great show he put on for me in Race 2.  I was well impressed as he put the Falcon through Doughnuts, 720 spins (on the road and in the air) - great stuff mate :jumpjoy:

Finally:
First, sorry to everyone on the right hand lane of the grid behind me.... :-[... My Mrs distracted me at just the wrong time & in a panic to change gears & hit the accelerator... I think I actually found reverse... eventually

Hell Legzy HOW come on spill the beans

It doesn't matter but, for curiosity, I finished 7th and not 8th.
I can confirm you were 7th PR when the server went down as I've checked the replay.

Nobody panic about the results at the moment, we're on the case of putting things right

I have to say it again, despite the problems we had... I really enjoyed both the races last night. Well done & thanks all.

Legzy

p.s. Another plus from last night, five cars were available for selection & all five were represented on the grid. Obviously we had a few more Alfa's then anything else (eh Oily  ;)), but it was great to see each car getting a chance out there. Hats off particularly to phspok & Spanner for giving the Falcon & Corolla some track time  :thumbup1:

Bit of a disaster for me. When I tried to join the server twice it crashed when it was loading my car  :-\. Then to compound things the internet cut out before it was too late  ;D.

Not sure what's causing the crashes. It has never happened before when loading myself up and I seemed fine on the practice server the night before the race. I'll see if the crashes repeat themselves at the next event.

(Well, I may have said I wasn't too keen on a track once or twice.  ;))

Think we all have love hate relationships with the tracks, Lakeside is definitely going in the love folder ;D

We all get wound up when we have PC, ISP or server problems especially when its mid race and things are looking  good.

Anyways...off to tie me kangaroo down  and practice for the three legged race at the school sports day ;)

                                         Cheers....Jake the peg

And I was enjoying so much that 2nd no-stress race with the Falcon,
I believe I was a bit possessed by then, driving that to-much-power-for-the-rear-end car.
Have to take my hat off to Matt, for his driving at the official race with it.

I believe the finishing order is now showing correctly.

If you disagree with your position, please PM me about it.

p.s. No Lapchart will be available for this race. I can see (& have used) the data, but it wont let me export it to post here.

The Falcon was actually what I got my best times in, it is of course subject to becoming a slidy thing after 20 laps
but it worked quite well here (Superb track choice BTW, I also loved it) I wanted to take something "different"
but the choice was mostly based on it being my quickest showing. Was having a superb tussle with Phil in front
and Psuedo behind, I'd pull away on the straights and lose it on the twisties at the end of each lap. Had a couple
of passing chances, but Phil managed to make it hard enough that it never actually happened.
Lost it in the next to last under power, was attempting to catch up and continue but that's when the
conn went. Shame was potentially a great event.,

I want to thank you to the fair driving of all and particulary the very good fights
with Goldtop and Alex (and I am sure it was another good fight, but can't remember
who's with, damn age)  :w00t:
Thanks PR. Also liked this lap-after-lap battle alot. Thinks our admin Tony W. was also involved  :D
Did see the 3 Cortina side-by-side several times on this circuit .. Yikes!
Unfortunately race ended up sooner than we all expected...just when I was about to kill
the worl record of lap time and overtake the first 6 guys.....yeh, right......
Did yo admins find out what went wrong? (just curious)

Great job to all not to lose temper and just enjoyed the second 'bonus' race.

ps. Nice vids Bill. Didn't know you have this beautiful beast in your backgarden..

Was enjoying the toyota in practise even if it was off the pace and thought there was going to be a grid full of alfa's and cortinas and wanted something different but wasnt expecting to be the only one ??? :(

Even just looking around when sat on the grid i was feeling very claustrophibic as even the cortina towers over the ickle thing.
After some handbags off the start for some i seemed to gain a few places but realised i was slowly dropping further back.

No Problem Tinman, struggled to get it back off the grass tho and was just disappointed to drop further down as i couldnt quite match everyone else in speed, i could carry a bit more speed in the slow stuff but lost out in the quicker stuff. Not sure it was an even match, the alfa and the cortina are too fast. Stil fun tho :)

Not really Alex. When we hooked up to the server after race one to see what was going on, the server was set correctly for 48 laps (we only got to lap 20).
We set the second race for 30 laps & that went the distance perfectly.  ???

So if anybody has got Scooby-Do's number...?

Really enjoyed the 2 races even though we had the race 1 hiccup & I spent most of both races circulating alone.

First race I got a good start & just got past a couple of Prodigy Alfas at T1 into 5th place where I stayed until Ade had a grassy moment & I grabbed 4th. Then after doing a whole lap with no cars visible I got the inevitable disco.

Race 2 I grabbed the lead at the start & made my escape as teammate Ade did his best to confuse the opposition . Then just drove as hard as I could hoping that no one would catch me. All was going well until 3 cars I was about to lap tangled at T1 & I lost 2-3 seconds negotiating the wreckage, this allowed Ade to get within striking range & he managed to nudge his way past on the final lap, grrrrr. Great chase there Ade  :thumbup2:

Shame about the race 1 problem, but still a great evenings entertainment.

Sorry it's taken me so long to make any comments, only my computer had shut down on Friday and was locked out - not a peep.  My man came today and I'd had my PSU trip, probably due to a mains power surge.

What a difference practice makes - I can fess up now I've raced here earlier this year with my Antipodean colleagues, early Sunday mornings.  We had 3 X 20 lappers including an Alfa, although most of practice was in my Team Race Mustang - not available here.  Not that it worried me as the Yank Tanks tyres went well before 20 laps allowing the more nimble cars to get down the inside at the slower corners.

Race 2 well brilliant, although I didn't get chance to see how long the race was so I stayed with 49 laps worth of fuel again.  Qualified well and had a good start this time and think I got up to 6th at one point and lost a position but was able to maintain a steady gap back to the next driver Oily I think.  Then I had a spun stationary/facing the wrong way Falcon and just didn't have space to get around it without inducing a spin.  This allowed Oily through but I pasted him again when he had an off.  He got by me again and then after a battle lost another place to a Mini.  Had a couple of minor offs onto the grass so decided to settle for I think 9th.  My best position in this league I think but no official data - bah humbug.  ???
