This is the eighth Interleague race of our season 17, and will use the 67 carset.  Our guests will be the Italian league GPFun http://www.gpfun.net/public/ (http://www.gpfun.net/public/).  GPFun swept the podium in the first race between our clubs at Monza last season, won by Gianluca Errera.  That race was the first to use the UKGPL liveries made for us by Stex of GPFun and which will be used again in this race- they are available here: http://www.jamesonline.net/ukgpl/ (http://www.jamesonline.net/ukgpl/)  Each league is to field nine cars, and there are no chassis handicaps, drivers will be racing to complete the distance and score points for their team.  Let's have a generous reception please, for the drivers and artists from GPFun!

Please be in VROC UKGPL chatroom passworded 'Savage' by 19:55GMT, (You will need to set up a channel called ukgpl if you haven't already done so)

For good reason I'd like to keep the same assignments as last time, so those that cannot make this race please say so. If I recall correctly Sam is one, so there's a vacant Lotus seat.

The double chassis arrangements are: Cooper plus one other chassis to be chosen by GPFun presumably at their leisure!

Depending when I move back home, I may or may not be racing in this one. So a reserve Eagle driver would be worth sourcing. :)

Welcome to UKGPL Super. The interleague race might be a baptism of fire if you're new to GPL. Perhaps you could join the Clubmans division at Mosport? It runs at the same time as the interleague races and may be better suited to finding your feet around here. I'm sure the mods will be able to help you out.

As H has said, i'll be unavailable for this one which is a shame as a Lotus round Silverstone must be pretty handy  ::). Best of luck to you all.

Hi there, Andy (I assume). Thanks for showing interest, but as Sam says I think you'd be better off racing Clubmans for now, until you improve and gain experience. Still, if you can go down to doing consistent 1:28s (or better) before the race, then I'll consider you, but for the moment I can't do that. No offense.

JR, the Brabham is yours and Doni, you get the Ferrari as usual. Jethro, let me know as soon as possible if you're going to make it or not. I think we're a bit short of reserves atm.

No guarantees on that Hristo, I won't know until I'm told when I move back home, at which point it'd be touch and go whether I get a regular internet connection up again.

Ok then, I'll put you as a reserve. The provisional assignments are as follows, please correct me if not:

Brabham...........John "The Duke" Roberts
Ferrari..............Doni "Yogurt" Yourth
Cooper.............Mike "Beatles" Beattie
Cooper.............Will "Power" Tway
Lotus...............Fulvio "The Baron" Policardi
Honda..............Clive "Evil" Gardner
BRM.................Hristo "H" Itchov
Eagle............... *vacant*
Unknown Car......*vacant* (when to expect the announcement of this chassis?)

Reserves: Jethro "Turkey Machine" Walters, Sam "Red Mist" Blood, Andy "Super" P, Dave "Jack O'Ferrall", Bernie "Alonso Charles" Darwin.

No offense for the nicknames I hope.  :D

I'm ok with the Honda if that's what suits the team.

But, if Dave wants to be involved in his beloved BRM, and Jethro is not able to use the Eagle, I could be persuaded to try the Eagle.
That would free the Honda for "H" and provide the BRM for Jack?

I guess what I am saying is that, if we are struggling for drivers I am happy to switch if it makes favoured chassis available for others.....I'm not trying to cause confusion,  just trying to help ;D

Sure, but I guess we'll decide on any changes when we know for certain who's racing and who's not.

LOL "The Baron" you'll have to explain to me why H :D

Sorry I'm a bit slow to read forum and I was out in the weekend, however I see that I've been assigned a Lotus, not that I'm so fast with it. If it's possible I'd prefer to switch car with Mike that is faster than me for sure and stay with the Cooper to defend the back of the grid.
Please let me know if it's possible Mike, H.

Ciao

That would be up to Mike then. Or maybe you would like Jethro's Eagle that is also available now?

I have no explanation for "The Baron", lol.  ;D

Hello Everybody,

thanks for racing with us a second time!

We have picked the Ferrari as second "extra" chassis, sorry for the delay but we just decided it.

Our lineup is going to be slightly different from the Monza one, but faster drivers are still getting fast cars.
Our best driver (PaoloMinotto) picked the eagle, we have yet to assign the lotus.
I expect 2-3 of our drivers to go below 1:26 in qualifying, with the slowest up to 1:29 if not slower.

The 7th edition of our tournament is almost over and Paolo clinched the title with one race (out of 18) still to go.
You can see the standings here, if interested
http://www.gpfun.net/public/gpfun/

We had a poor showing at our Silverstone race, only 14 drivers with many last minute drop outs.
You can see the results here, as a reference:

http://www.gpfun.net/public/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1696

Bye,
Luca

Hi to Luca and thanks for the information. ;) Hopefully it would be a great race.

Teammies, I made some changes to combat their sub 26 runners as we can't just have them occupy the podium that easily, can we...  ::)

Brabham...........John
Ferrari..............Doni
Cooper.............Fulvio
Cooper.............Will
Lotus...............Mike
Eagle...............Clive
Ferrari..............Hristo
Honda..............*vacant*
BRM.................*vacant*

As you can see I gave myself and Clive the 2nd Ferrari and the Eagle, respectively. Also swapped Mike and Fulvio to the Lotus and Cooper. Since Mike didn't reply I assume he's ok with the change, but let me know if you'd rather not, Mike, but not later than Friday.

We still need 2 more drivers, so if anyone is willing to have a go (apart from our current reserves), please let us know.

If someone needs help with setup or driving, let me know too. If any of you would like to hold a practice at Friday evening, say as well.

Push it my way, I need the practice. Knowing I wasn't likely gonna be racing, I haven't practiced it. Best I could manage in the BRM was 1:30, if you can knock x seconds off that I'll be happy! :D

I think my PB in the Eagle was about 1:27, but have not driven this car at Silvy for about 2 years  :-\ soooo, this could be very bad or very good. I think a little practice is required and if anyone has a setup that does not cook the rear tyres ................ ::)

OK, all, to make things easier and for sharing setups and tips, let's meet at iGOR tonight. Whoever can make it that is. I suggest you use the WR groove and watch at least one good replay of a lap (WR is ok for that), if you really want to prepare properly for the event.

Here are my most recent Silverstone setups. Except for the bunch of Lotus setups and the sole Eagle setup (which are VERY old), the rest are pretty much recent and some have gone through many revisions. Those ending with 'q' are for Qualifying and those with 'r' are for... you get the idea. Tweak braking bias and steering ratio to your preferences. The aim for race setups is to preserve the engine, allow for towing and keep the tyres more happy, but the latter is not always possible.

http://uploading.com/files/NUMHDWUS/hristo_67_silverstone_setups.zip.html

Here is the WR groove .3do file for Silverstone. Or I think so. Let me know if it's not, lol. But it should be. Yeah. Just drop it in your 'Silver' track folder:

http://uploading.com/files/00Y2WB9O/silver3do.zip.html

For replays you'd be best off getting some from GPLRank. Focus on gear shift moments, revs, braking points, turn in points, amount of throttle on entry and mid-corner, acceleration points, position and angle of the car related to apex. Sliding less in the early laps of a race really helps for tyre temps later.

See you later,

-=Hristo=-

If I remember correctly ( and there is no guarantee of that!!) we just replace the relevant 67 car ( brab, eagle or whatever) file with the one from  http://www.jamesonline.net/ukgpl/ carset_ukgpl.zip .

Having of course saved the original first. ::)

I think I got it all together. Just recovering from the 24 Heures du Flu but am feeling much better today.

Cheers,

I've put the team up on the first post, as Hristo had it last.  Is it a Honda that we're short of?

A couple of points/requests

- Could you please get online as early as possible?
I made a mistake between GMT and Summer Time and told my drivers that the race was an hour earlier.... very embarassed and at risk of being killed  ;)

- We should have an extra driver, so if you have an empty spot we could let him race, either in or out of the points.

Thanks,
Luca

The password will be posted in chat.  Please can drivers be prompt, as we have to join as a team before GPFun.

Well that went well. NOT!

After starting a lil late due to a misunderstanding by Hristo, we got underway. I had best sectors for a mid 28 in the BRM, but could only manage a 29.6. Not bad, could be better.

Race was looking like being a good one provided I could keep it going. I didn't. Start was good, had to check up to avoid hitting the car in front and all was well through Copse. Maggotts good, lined up somebody in Becketts on the brakes, and noticed somebody running majorly wide. The bleeding nutter then ran right into my line on the inside of the exit of the corner. T-boned, spun round, spun round again and went on my way. Then found myself catching the guy in front, 7 seconds up the road, when I had the pedals disconnect from the wheel on the exit of Club, and I had to re-attach them. 2 laps later, I wasn't paying attention to the road and smacked into the Bridge.

One to forget really!

Popped the engine again, and I wasn't even trying !!  :(

At this point I'm withdrawing from any more 67 races, as I don't drive them enough and don't seem to be able to get through a race with one.

I hope my misfortune didn't effect the outcome adversly, but the GPFun guys did seem to be packing out the mid field when I left.

Sorry if I don't copy everything here, at least for now.

Final score should be
GPFun67:       79 points
UKGPL:          64 points

Please double check it.

THanks for the race!
Luca

It is probably your gearshifting, Mike. You have the speed and you don't seem to be making mistakes, so if you just sort the reliability problems you're good to go. Hope you reconsider.

We were going strong while you were in the race and JR was also running in the top 5 I think. I noticed Evil running 3rd at one point as well.

After a very nice battle we had an unfortunate collision with Paolo which took him out of the race. I went for the inside at the end of the backstraight and we entered the corner side by side. I just couldn't hold it to the utmost inside, so my rear slid a bit wide and affected Paolo's car enough to send him off. Sorry, Paolo, I tried my best and went right near the wall on the inside, but just couldn't scrub off enough speed. As with my previous attempt, which ended with myself going completely wide and you retaking the lead on the inside, I was hoping it would be repeated, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.

Well, at that point it looked like a decisive victory for UKGPL, but then Mike retired, JR retired and Evil dropped back, so suddenly GPFUN had 3 cars in the top 4. That pretty much decided the outcome. Nice race still, grats all who took part! Seems everyone did their best!

Cheers,

-=Hristo=-

P.S. Sorry for the misunderstanding at the first server run, I took it that we can practice as soon as we join the server. Kinda funny when people were going backwards to make me realize, but I thought they're some crazy people going backwards for whatever reason, lol. More fun was they didn't know that would DQ them.

P.P.S. Jethro, sounds like a lot of struggle, good effort for not giving up before you suffered a lot.

Hi UKGPL drivers,
thank you very much for yesterday race.
I really apreciate the Inter League formula, is always a pleasure to fight with different people from other leagues.

My apologizes to Will Tway, I had a contact with him at lap 9, could be a clean pass but I lost a bit the rear of my car at the entrance of Becketts when we were paired. Sorry if I have ruined your race.

Congrats to Hristo, is a shame for the contact with Paolo, could be a nice battle for the leader.

See you next race!
Cheers,
Davide

PS: Apologizes from MikeG to Jethro Walters too, for the crash at first lap.

Grats to the GPFunsters!  Good racing with you.  TY for posting the results and the server replay.

Splendid run for our Hristo to score a fine win and showing blistering pace in the Ferrari 312.  Nice to see what the car can do in an alien's hands compared to my fumbling.   ;D  Bad luck re the collision with Paulo.

I netted a PB in Q to start P12 just a tick off times logged by teammates JR and FP but in the race, they were both just gone!  I was relieved...as opposed to relieving myself...that the gang all seemed to get thru T1 on L1 without grief.  PHEW!  Always a pucker factor!  Over in Becketts, still on L1, I noted to cars off and one of them was green.  Bugga!  BTW, very nice to be able to spot teammates via the special liveries.  TY for posting the files.  That tangle did promote me to P10 and I held that til L5 when a green car roared up in my mirrors and I pulled over smartly to let it thru.  It was Lorenzo recovering from the Becketts incident.  Next lap, I got a poorish exit from Chapel and Sergio had the run on me down to Stowe.  Done like dinner and no point in trying to fight him off.  This left Will right with me and he seemed to have a good head of steam up so I quickly let him thru to take off after Sergio.  L8 and Will goes wide at the dreaded Abbey curve to get on the grass and he eases up to let me whistle by.  L9 and an unfortunate collision between Will & Davide puts them well back of me.  L12 and my only significant error of the meet as I had a 90° spin at Club costing me about 5 seconds but I managed to recover without losing a position.

For the balance of the race, I just tried to click off consistent laps without error and managed fairly good if not outstanding laps.  In the dying laps, I lost time being obliged to lift for the GPFun freight train rolling thru in positions P2 thru P4 to put me a lap down.  Hope I didn't get in anyone's way to any great degree.

Man that was a good time. No worries at all Davide. I stayed as wide as possible but thankfully I was able to continue. Abbey can kiss my #$%...I never know if I should coast through there w/o brakes or tap them.... but I only ran wide there once....and my undies were clean at the end...

I was never alone for long and had a awesome time reeling in Isidoro but could never get past his Brab. Great run Isidoro.

Overall I made 2 or three mistakes but was pleased with 10th. Especially pleased with H's setup. It held steady and took a good deal of the "pucker factor" out of play....

Definitely one of the closer races of this series. I was just praying that had I'd finished 9th...it wouldn't make a difference..... ;)

Grats to H and all the GPFun guys. Excellent work on the liveries!!

Thanks to all the organizers!!!

Hope to see y'all again.

Cheers,

Will

Big thanks to Luca for organising the server and trying to control the UKGPL team ::)and to all at GPfun for this race and the car liveries..it certainly makes spotting your own team mates far easier.

Grats to Hristo for the race win and to Gpfun for the overall points win, at least we were closer to you this time  lol.

I was pleased to finish this race as high as 5th, but a little disappointed that I did not get a podium.

The Eagle is a different beast to the Honda which I am used to. On Friday evening I was still struggling with a setup that did not inspire any confidence but by Sunday we had something that worked.

The race was good fun, if a little lonely, once I had settled into race pace. I passed several UKGPL drivers and cars retiring moved me slowly up the leader board. I was passed by a Ferrari from GPFun after a couple of good laps fending him off and although I chased him I went wide at Beckets and a spin ended that episode.

After that It was a steady drive to the end and 5th place. I don't think I was ever as high as the 3rd spot that Hristo claims, but I was concentrating so hard that I might have missed it.  lol.

Thanks again GPFun..looking forward to the next race already .

Lol, or Pribluda was lying to me again!

Thanks for the liveries indeed, it was much more comfortable knowing who is your "enemy" and who isn't, as soon as you approach other cars.

I was never alone for long and had a awesome time reeling in Isidoro but could never get past his Brab. Great run Isidoro.

Hi, this is my first post here, my name is Isidoro and I am from Monza, yesterday it was my first race in Inter League, and sorry for my (strong north italian logic and accent) bad english speaking/writing ;-)

I got training for Cooper but finally, 5 minutes before the beginning, i knew i had to jump in Brabham, and a i was.. 18th on the start grid ;-) So i decided to drive having in mind only one thing: let's see the end flag!

And for me was really a great race!
Code:
HIGHEST CLIMBER

Driver                           Start Finish  Change
Isidoro Ghezzi67                    18      9       9

ON TRACK LAPS

Driver                           Laps/Total    Percent
Isidoro Ghezzi67                    (39/39)     100.00

Yes mybe i was too slow, but trust me, it was really hard to keep Will Tway behind of me! He was for sure faster than me, and for me "cutting" the end flag half second ahead of him was like a victory ;-) Thanks a lot to Will he was really correct in the fight and finally we got really good fun.
Thanks a lot to ukgpl and gpfun and... obviously to GPL ;-)

Thanks to Luca and the GPFun drivers for another great race, and congratulations on the result.  A captain's performance from Hristo got him to the top step of the podium but Gianluca and Enrico joined him, and sadly for UKGPL retirements due to mechanical failures down the field meant that GPFun67 had a slight edge in this very close contest, 79-64.  We hope to race you again this autumn, in our season 18!
