GTL races dont quite drum up the same enthusiasm as the P&G rounds these days do they?  :whistling:  time to change over  ;)

'might' even join you for this one. I vaguely remember Adelaide from my Geoff Crammond F1 days  :o Not sure though as got Arma2 and rise of flight distractions lately. :P

Nothing on the forum drums up the same level of posts as the P&G races, it's incredible how many it gets!
The game/race structure will be looked at again come the end of the current season, P&G is certainly proving more then worthy  :thumbup1:

'might' even join you for this one.
Do a few race laps here at 06:00 time of day setting MJ... you'll love it.

Never liked this track and find most of these cars frustrating to drive here. The Mini seems the most fun, but the engine seems very fragile (or maybe that's me revving the ****s off it). Best time 1:55.5xx :)

The TeamSpeak server IP changed a while ago, you'll need to update that. It'll be on the connect screen.

Details here:

Use the race password for the game server and the ip for teamspeak is 81.19.209.165:8787 and that's set to the practice password.

If you've used the previous anti-disconnection patch you need to uninstall that first, then run the new one.

, make sure you have removed the antideco patch first.
Make sure this isnt  in your host file 127.0.0.1 local host www.gtl-server.net

You probably need to change your Windows Explorer settings to show system files.

I've just poked the right address in my hosts file and I can get in the lobby as normal.

Go Daddy (who 'own' the domain right now) are one of several DNS hosts currently fingered as being rather naughty when it comes to hanging onto expired and unrenewed domains they don't have any legal rights to so it may drag on somewhat.

With my iRacing subscription expiring this weekend I may turn my attention to developing an 'installer' to do the hosts tweak for those who don't have what Bhuddists might call 'the geek nature'.

Ahhh, engine let go on lap 22  :'( :'(

Followed Madd for a lap & a half until he flipped it. Led for a few laps then crashed at T1 & let Phil into the lead. Held off a hard charging Oily until I crashed at T1. Then spun at T11, dropped to 5th, back to 4th when Goldtop spun. Chasing Lazlow until engine prob. I was trailing smoke for several laps until it blew, consequence of the crashes I suspect. ::)

Congrats to the podium, cya next time.

That was all going well until real life took over.

Mr oily was steadily pulling away after a nice little scrap to leave me in 4th eventually with a 5 or 6 sec gap over Lazlow then Geoffers hit trouble and I was in 3rd. I got distracted and ran wide incurring a stop/go then I managed to bin it in the twisty bit and lost loads of time/places. I took my SG but ran wide again on the next lap for another SG :wetfish:

On my next lap I discoed. I suppose my first podium was never to be ::)

A fun race while it lasted. Having finally got rid of my wireless and trying out the ethernet adapter thingymagigs Ade suggested my internet was much better this time round. About 5 mins before quali though, I had a bizarre problem of not being able to join the server, while still being connected to the internet  :-\. A quick fix from the chaps from teamspeak and a restart later, I was back in business. Sadly I didn't have enough time to set a timed lap, so started from the back of the grid.

The Red mist decended and I may have been a touch too aggressive and cheeky at the start, and was up to 8th by the end of the first lap. I continued to gain places up to 4th, till I got a stop go, mainly because of that ruddy Brewery Bend. Never really recovered from that and managed another 2 stop go penalties. Must be a record for me  ;D. Towards the end my heart wasn't really in it anymore, feeling a bit guilty of using the pitlane as an advantage at the start  , so decided to retire.

TURN YOUR HEADLIGHTS ON PEOPLE! Yeesh! I nearly took at least 3 cars out who were coming past simply because I couldn't see them in the mirror because of the lighting.

Epic race for me. 7th place. Best finish ever. Thrilled. No stop and go penalties as I was super careful and it paid off.

Thanks for the amazing race. 26 laps flew past in what felt like 10 minutes. That was terrific!

And Tinman... Man that was a hard fight. I won't deny I was pleased when you spun at the last corner, but I felt bad for you too as you had put up a fantastic fight.

Shocking race for me. got the hang of some quick laps but never managed any consistency here. Three stop n go's & plenty of visits to the walls with my front end, sums up my race.  :(

Welllllllll, that was as fun as I expected. tarred somewhat by my own lack of concentration on lap 1
I think I put a wheel on the grass trying to take a wide line into the arena.
and then Madd's... shame about, that I was beggining to feel guilty that I was holding you up
and was about to let you by at the start of the next lap, I generally prefer to have quicker
cars in front rather than have to drive defensively and risk a a mistake. If we were being paid
for this I might think differently  ;D
Caught and passed a few people more than once, hoepfully I didn;t get in your way too much
the Matt/Aston combo is not the most accurate thing on the track  ;)
Top mark to  Phil for getting max team points  :)

It was a really good fight. I was thinking "one more corner to go - don't make a mistake"  Doh!!

Ross - no problem, these things happen.

Apologies to Spanner - I lost it in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That's a shame. With all the cut tracks I was getting & rather poor driving on my part generally it seems, I would have quit out last night if it hadn't been for the added banter entertainment on Team Speak. Excellent fun as usual chaps.

Not sure why I was so fast here. Maybe the hours spent with Crammond's version on the Amiga all those years ago lodged in my subconscious and counted for something. There was a huge electrical storm here during the race. Bangs, crashes, wind and rain so heavy I thought the windows were coming in. Very off-putting, or maybe it kept me awake. About 5 laps to go the storm culminated with an almighty flash of lightning, the sort that seems to fill the room you're in, and a crash of thunder that loosened my fillings. I was just waiting for a pop from the distribution box followed by darkness and silence, but luckily the electrics held out and I crossed the line, slightly frazzled but happy to have made it to the end.

Thanks to all I lapped for gentlemanly driving.

Hahaha excellent, check out the haters, this is a proud moment  ;D Seriously though, think we'll enjoy it while it lasts!

Great drive Phil, that was well earned mate - was desperately trying to hunt you down but instead of making any inroads just managed to pick up a couple of cut track warnings which meant I had to back off a bit through the high speed kink for the last 7-8 laps. Still, wasn't happening either way so grats.

Some great stuff with Goldtop and Geoffers for what seemed like an eternity - the latter would have had me if it wasn't for a slip up so I'm very thankful! Wasn't the most involved race for overtaking each other but but the pace was pretty much beyond my limit and carving through the backmarkers (thanks chaps!) was hairy so it kept me entertained...totally in the zone for that one, felt completely knackered by the finish.

Had a bit of a moment lapping Bill approaching the final hairpin, I know you apologised mate but was totally my fault....hugged the apex too much, then got on the brakes and the tail start wandering until i promptly stuck it on the grass!

Must give a big shout to Spadders, a cracking finish and slowly creeping up the order on a regular basis these days...one to watch, all good news for the team points! :)

Last but not least, grats to one of the Oldie Queens, Jim no wonder you were pleased - didn't appreciate it at the time but that was a damn good result considering how much ground you made up dude!!!

Big thanks as always to the directing ones...had another flick through the remaining fixtures last night and my days is that a mouthwatering selection, this season is going to be a good'n...just hope and pray I make Monaco this time!

No pressure but reckon there might be a lap chart for this one?  ;D

Apology was because I intended you to get by earlier and you had to cut back onto the racing line too sharply losing it.

Legzy taught me well at Estoril on how to make your car wide;)

Working well so far.

I am so unhappy!!!  :(
I was really aiming to this race with the E-Type.
It is now the 4th day without internet and don't know why... >:(
Wednesday, I had internet for one hour only.
Already talked to my internet provider two days ago and now I just
don't know if it is the router (Lynksis) with almost four years old, or what...
I have a micro-filter with both phone and net connections. Phone is working great.
I even had try to plug directly the internet cable to the phone plug-in with no success
either.
I'm gutted, I really am!!!  >:(

P.S. I hope you guys had fun  :)

A few suggestions - I'm sure you've thought of these, but just in case:

+ faulty micro-filter (telephone is much more tolerant of problems)
+ length and quality of cable from micro-filter to computer
+ number of devices/extensions connected
+ reliability of internet service provider (maybe research this)
+ router (as you mentioned)

Good luck

Thanks for the reply 57goldtop.

-I had try a new micro-filter with no success either.
-The cable I use, has 5 meters long. And when I bought it, I asked for the best one.
I use it for almost 1 year now.
-Sometimes, my daughter has another cable connected for her, because I lost (another issue)
wireless capability.
-Internet provider (for what I read and listened) is one of the best in Portugal. Very stable.
I use it for 4 years now. A few months ago, I upgrated the speed to 24M.
I tested on the SPEEDTEST site and obtained a reasonable score (I will try to put
here the results later).
And as you been able to see, when I'm racing, I don't lag (at least I belive I don't).
-As for the router, I have it for 4 years and I believe it could be some problem after these 4 years.

Wednesday, I did a GTL race at NOGRIP/GAMERS CRIB server (finished 3rd with the CSL, just for
curiosity)  ;D By the way, where have you been Geoffers? Don't see you there for a while... :)
After the 1 hour race, left the internet for a minutes, when I tried to reconnect lost it for good.
All night tried to get internet, rebooted the router and PC, changed the micro-filter, etc...nothing.
Thursday, got internet for 5 minutes just before trying to join our server. Another evening without
internet aswell. Friday and Saturday happened exactly the same. Five minutes of net and just
after turn things on. DSL green light always flashing and internet light always red.
Got another phone call from net supplier on Saturday and they confirm my words about those
weird 5 minutes of net only.
Sunday in afternoon, turned PC and router on, and......got internet all day.... :-\
I just don't want to by a new router without having sure if the problem is with it or the line.
Will test this evening again and hope everything is working fine.  :)

I don't often have time to do the Wednesday races at NG at the moment. I am only usually doing the Sunday races there & the Thursday races here during the summer. I will probably be doing more races from about September when the evenings are darker. Hope to be joining the P&G races then too.

No pressure but reckon there might be a lap chart for this one?  ;D

Better late then never: Lapchart (http://uk.geocities.com/bcl03z/GTLlapCharts/GTL/Adelaide_23-07-09/index.html)
