To start the ball rolling......

After a couple of dozen laps 1:53.720 with race fuel in the 430. Getting it right through the chicanes seems to be the key....still looking :)

Great track  8)

Hoping to get on the server tonight with Lazlow, to try & get back to the 1:50.9 I managed here in the F430 last time round.  :o
I'm sure that'll be quick enough to see off MJ & his limp wrist  ;D

MJ and his limp wrist will be out getting hammered tonight  ;D all good exercise for that wrist you see, pint lifting  ;)

It is the Legends way of preparation for Endurance events   :euro:

This tracks kerbed chicanes are a nightmare in a porker but will hope for the best. Not done a lap yet, best get some in. Those fezzas will be on home turf.

Dammit, 2nd Disco in a week in GTR2  >:( i think its graphics related as updated my nvidia drivers last week and now two screen freezes in succession during my racing.

Imola is never a kind track to me. Was pushing like a madman tonight but could make no dent on the guys ahead who all steadily pulled away from me. Got bored about mid race when i had a 10 sec gap to cars ahead and 10 sec gap to cars behind whilst running 7th and then mistakes crept in as my concentration waned a bit.
Then after an off at that bastich hill top chicane, which i loathe, spanner started to close on me fast and woke me up again. Alas about 2 laps later the screen froze as i was halfway through that same chicane. Hope spanner didnt run into my discod car as assume it froze mid track  :(

The porsches seemed to get trounced by the fezzas at this track  :-\ not quite sure why all the porkers have ballast and torque reductions and the f430 has no hindrances? They seemed more than a match last season. But this place with its high kerbs and jinking chicanes is never going to suit a pendulum swinging rear engined car like the 997.

Jon was in another league altogether in it !...sure he's not Mika Salo/Jaimie Melo in disguise?  ;)

Blah a disco :( Can only think that it was my other half attacking ebay with all her money on the wireless. Never had a disco so far with sky so was surprised when it happened. Was my car looking solid during the race to anyone? I know Sharky commented that he couldn't see me at the start. Apart from that it was going well for me I had the car set up low so it was fast around the track and I just had to be careful at the chicane. I had 2 little offs. one where I put the right side of the car on the grass and then braked :-[ and another trying to go over the chicane. Was happy with the race pace tho' and felt I could've gone faster if needed. Hope everyone had a good race 8)

Disco league for us MJ ;D

Great circuit great race 8)
Imola has been kind to me before, scored my first podium here (2nd)

Got shunted up the back about 3/4 laps in going into the fast left right chicane by 57 Goldtop (no worries 57 Goldtop one of those things) and ended up flying across the track as a passenger and collected two GT3 cars I think...very sorry about that, as I said at that point I was just a passenger in the car, hope it didn't ruin your race to much.

Fought back tooth and nail and managed to finish 8th 8)

One of my favourite tracks and a much more enjoyable outing than 2w ago.

Lost a place early on to Picnic and then a bit later to DG. Managed to catch him up again but he pitted just as I got close. I went in one or two laps later and rejoined in an identical position just a second or two behind him.

A great few laps followed as I tried without success to get past, trying to set up a passing opportunity under braking (no chance along the straights of course). Unfortunately it all went wrong at the chicane as I thought I had enough room in the braking zone, but didn't. I clipped his back end and sent him spinning - apologies for this misjudgement  :(

I waited for him to rejoin - too long as it turned out  :D I was now 6 seconds behind.

Never really recovered after this with too many mistakes creeping in. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Can't make the next one so see you in a month  8)

Awful race for me; must have done 100+ laps around here over the last few days and couldn't get anywhere near the pace. My quali of 1:52.153 was a PB but only just scraped in ahead of the GT3 guys.

There appeared to be a few cars missing from the grid at the start (never had that happen before) but they were present on the formation lap and onwards. ???

Had an ok start and picked up a place when Spanner ran wide, but was soon under pressure as he recovered. Had a run on JPS going up to Tamburello, but got over ambitious and stuck my nose in where I shouldn't have. Contact appeared to be only slight, but the  consequences were severe as JPS said earlier. My apologies to JPS and those who were caught up in the aftermath:-[

One strange thing: I received a Stop/go but I had to enter the pits 3 or 4 times before the pit board options appeared. I thought I was going to get DQ'd but finally I was able to serve the penalty, but by this time I was well behind. Spent the last 50 mins circulating and trying to keep out of everyone's way in the hope of getting some team points :(

What a crazy race. :o

I was surprised by my qualifying pace and my best race lap was about 2 seconds slower than my qualy lap. I have no idea why the difference was so big.

I got attacked by many drivers rite from the start and by the end of the first lap I had lost 4 or 5 places. It was one hell of a lap though fighting with so many drivers. :D

I managed to get up to 2nd place with 20 odd minutes remaining but then got a stop & go after getting a few warnings during the race. I had a good chase with Jose. I could see that he was also pushing very hard and we took it in turn to make mistakes and pass each other for a while. ;D

After my stop and go I came out of the pits into the middle of a fight between Legzy and Spanner. I pushed far too hard at this point and made some mistakes. I ended up in 7th. :'(

Sorry TT, I think I bumped you at one point. I need to check the replay to see if I need to say sorry to a few other drivers as well. :-\

It was fun though. Well done podiums. :)

Well, I did about an hour's practice for that one. It didn't show though - as I had been practicing in the C6-R, having got myself in a complete tiz over what series it was this weekend! ::) :-[

I could see you sizing me up and I waited and waited and waited to turn in and eventually decided you weren't going to have a go after all, turned in, and... wham! Very difficult with the big difference in cornering versus straight line performance of the 350Z versus the Vertislow, but it certainly made for an interesting race!

Qualified with a time I expected to, which put me 6th on the grid. Lap 1 was a bit chaotic with all the front guys getting past Hal. Then had a coming together into the double left hander which gave me aero damage for the rest of the race. Pit stop was good and I chose to save time by not repairing the damage, but I'd already had two cut warnings by then and eventually I got my 3rd warning and a stop go. >:( Red mist then as I went hell for leather, driving faster in the race than in qualifying even! Unfortunately driving like a loonatic caused me to spin into aquaminerale and I thought that was my challenge over. Thankfully everyone else seemed to have dramas too and I ended up finishing 3rd. Bizarre.

Shame about the discos, Jon was easily going to win that one too which is a real shame for Team Shark.

Had some of the usual fun with TT in his "quick in a straight line" Lambo GT2 too. 8) I know Rob seemed to be struggling a lot in the BMW M3 and at one point when TT and I were lapping him, there seemed to be some coming together with him and TT and my foot didn't leave the right hand pedal and I drove through at full speed inbetween them both. VERY scarey! :o

GT3s were a bit thin on the ground, but well done to Lazlow on the win and the two Sharks of Picnic and Gizmo on their podiums.

Have to say I'll be glad when the new pack is released cause the addon car engine sounds are driving me up the wall. They just all sound demented.

It would also be great if someone could look into the tyre issues on all the addon cars. I ran the F430 on softs in the race and they never went over 70 degrees no matter how hard I pushed. Tyre wear was normal too. It's just plain wrong and gives them a big advantage over the standard cars in that respect.

My fronts were similar in the 350Z so I don't think it's the add-ons... Imola's always been easy on tyres.

First things first:
- apologies to Stewprovo. Got caught - were you braking a bit earlier? - and couldn't nearly stop in time. My breaking point was way further, so I didn't expect you to start braking there. Nevertheless, my fault and I'm SO glad you caught it and only your, erm, rear ;) looked just as it should seemed a bit dented. Hope your car wasn't damaged in any other way
- @ H@l: I'm not sure if I didn't swerve into you, so I wouldn't have any problem if you just drove off. It's a racing incident in my view anyway. That you waited just proves your high integrity and moral standards (stop crying, will ya! :P )
- @ Spanner: your driving was rubbish and so was mine. :P  There was a contact all the same and it was my fault for being pesky and pushy. But that was one of the few moments I had a chance to pass and it didn't work. Sorry. :(
- @Shark: it was a scary moment, though I was positive there's enough space for 3. Didn't have any of you in my view angle, though. It would be your fault anyway  :wetfish:

I like Imola but I never do well here. I think it's solely fault of me that high chicane. Any way I took it I lost 1 sec per lap there. >:( Add two spins and you get 6th place. Hell, I should be pleased with the rubbish driving I had.  ::)

Bad luck for the discos. :(  Good show, JPS. :)

TT

I ran out of motivation after a couple of mistakes, end of race lol

Till that moment I'd had some fun with a couple of GT2 Porsches that were taking like 100 metres on me in the straights, but I was risking everything to cut them back around the corners  nice one

I had to brake earlier as I was at full of fuel. I had some suspension damage as well as the aero, but it was just a racing incident, so no worries. Has really bad race, when I pitted, instead of putting soft/soft like I asked, my pit crew put Hard/Hard, and did'nt add the 10 litres of fuel I asked for. So had to do splash and dash at end, but not before getting drive thru for going wide (?) at aqua minerale. Then when I did stop for fuel, they changed the tyres again as well. I plan on sacking the team KC pit crew, and I'm going to hire Renaults!!!!! Grats to all.

That was the first time that i felt the 997 was just not as quick as the 430. Compared to practise beforehand, i was losing the backend alot under engine braking while seemling locking up the fronts alot! So consequently i go off on the first lap going through that horrible chicane. Which consequently meant every lap i was taking it gingerly and preying going through it evertime! Had a battle trying to get back up the field with Matt putting up some resistance and slowly getting past Stew and gaining on MJ until his ghost went straight into the barriers at the chicane. For some reason i'd calmed down enough to consider not changing tyres as they weren't wearing much but i'm so glad i stuck to changing them as for some reason in the second half the car was horrible, the soft fronts had dropped temps and the rear was still coming round.

But seemed to come out with Legzy 5 secs behind but found TT had dropped back for some reason and was trying to stay ahead but was badly overdriving it so i apologise for that, and was badly struggling to slow the car down and turn in to that double left at the end of the lap. This allowed Legzy to get ahead and he stayed ahead easily, once again finishing ahead of me ???
