Server: [PnG2.1] UKPnG S1
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=227)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph.

(Clubmans & Tokens Full Details guide to follow)

* = Your starting season Tokens budget divided by seven (races in the tokens season) = Your average number of Tokens (i.e. Legzy has 77 Tokens for the season, divide that by 7 & Legzy's average number of Tokens per race is 11. While Tony's average tokens per race is 13.)

Remaining tokens for all drivers after one event, have now been published above (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6710.msg116726#msg116726), complete with your token spending forecast :o.

If your name is not on that list & you wish to join in, please say 'Hi' on the thread & if possible give us an idea of your pace so I can give you a probationary Tokens budget. :)

I actually took the Corvette L72 Coupe which cost 8 points, so I should have 73 tokens left.

Legzy I have 79 tokens left with 6 more races left - 6X12 = 72 should leave me with 7; or are you assuming I go for 6X13 = 78?

Bill

Is the Alfa Romeo GTA the 1300 or 1600?

Is the Alfa Romeo GTA the 1300 or 1600?
1300 = Junior
1600 = GTA
1600(+) = Volumetrico

The Junior is not included in our Tokens car choices, the other two are.

Yup, you're quite right. My mistake. Sorry. Thanks for letting me know & now amended.  :).
I'll have to take even more car with those Vette's!

Legzy I have 79 tokens left with 6 more races left - 6X12 = 72 should leave me with 7; or are you assuming I go for 6X13 = 78?
The tokens forecast is just a quick glance guide to see how in debt/credit you are, if you spend your personal average for each remaining race till the end of season. So for you personally Bill, that's 6 (races) x 13 (your average Tokens per race) = 68... but you have 69 Tokens currently so you're 1 in credit  :)

Hope to make this one so have been learning the circuit.  Decided to use the cheapest P906 (a red one) but it turns 'black' quite a few times during a lap.  Anyone know why this happens, is it my settings maybe?

To Tony & Legzy:  In my opinion the tokens are a great idea.  :thumbup2:   Now even I cannot afford to keep taking the quickest car available from the race selection - which is what I have basically been doing up to now.

So all being well I'll see you on the 8th

Laurie   :scooter:

I can confirm that the L76 Roadster costs 3 Tokens (not two mate).  :)
Tokens

Cars Available
Corvette L76 Roadster, Lotus Cortina Works

EDIT - Just worked out what it was. It was a 'formatting screen resolution type problem'. To solve it, I've removed the E-Type Lightweight 4-Speed from the problem line (cars the value of 8 Tokens), formatting should now show correctly on everybody's PC's :)

Did my own P&G driving when i picked up the new toy during last nights race  8)
Saw the pic MJ, very fancy  (for a few seconds, I even imagined I could get one...). Must have cost a few tokens? Let me know & if it's more then your 'average', then I can make sure you have less for the next race  :P ;)

Hope to make this one so have been learning the circuit.
Hope to see you there Ligel  8)

Wow, what a fantastic track that is !  8) Had never driven it before but its a real peach for these classic race cars.

Tried out 3 very different cars and they were all great fun. Im in low 47's with a couple of the cars in the 7-9 token bracket  :-*

This should make for a great race with all the terrific roller coaster corners.  8)

Thanks for the nice comments on my new toy. Just found out it was a Porsche-world magazine front cover featured machine in the past  8)
Been putting it through its paces in the last few days...great fun!  :)

Madd, just to confirm, they were with full race fuel online too.  :)

Love this track, will have to take the IROC/RSR around it just for the fun of it !...but would i want to use up my precious tokens in the actual race, eh?  :shifty:

Actually thats the only problem this token system throws up. Its very hard to predict what your fellow competitors may take, to guarantee you can have your usual good fun racing your usual combatants :-\ Because we have the whole car range available and people will place different priorities on what race track they want to use a certain car at.

Apart from the evil handling cars, i think i would enjoy driving any classic race car around here  8)

If MJ's doing 47's... I'll probably aim for about that kind of laptime too.
Server is up & with a handfull of us on now... ;)

Hmmm, I'm thinking 1:47's might be a little slow MJ as I managed 1:48.3 in the Abarth (2 Tokens) & 1:46.0 & with potentially a few seconds more to come in the Alpine (4 Tokens). A couple of our VDA friends were in the Alpine & both doing about mid 1:43's :o.

So I'll probably aim at at laptimes somewhere closer to 43's personally now I think, though I have to say, the Abarth was yet again a hoot to drive! ;D

Hear hear.  You beat me to it.  Spent the day out roaming around with my wife, it was her birthday, so by 2100 I'd had enough.  Sorry I didn't stay for the race.

It was very useful practicing/qualifying with other faster drivers and inspired the old competitive spirit.  :fencing: As a result I sorted out my Elan and knocked about 5 secs off my PB.  When I left I think I was 8th out of about 12 which was satisfying - although of course most of the other drivers were in Alpines with the fastest about 4 secs faster than me.

Bill

Loris can assume his budget is 'about' 54 for the rest of the season. This may of course be slightly tweaked up or down when I confirm his official budget after his first race with us.

That's right madd!

The only practice session laptime is that of Loris... I remember that 2 days ago in your server in qualif 1 session, he has done a 1.42.8...

We totally hate the Practice 1 session... no grip at all...yesterday during the race with more fuel I managed a 42.2, that was a lot better than my Practice 1 laptime done with 15 ltrs (1.42.9). I think that the Practice session is not useful at all in GTR2... maybe only in practice 2 the grip is more similar to the race grip...

Cu :)

That was great, I didnt know this was same track as Barber Motorsports Park, and i raced it in iracing, know it so well, just been on practice server and was only a second off the leaders on there, just need to find decent car with my tokens and some setups and im sorted, really cant wait.

Heres a video from Barber Motorsports Park in iracing, my Radical SR8 :)

Enjoy :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGwUs0c2XYY

Im suprised that since this is my 1st season in PnG, that lot of people have quite few more tokens than me, thats only just started?

Im doing 45s in the 911 RSR IROC,
47s Renault Alpine, 48s fez 725 and 50's lotus elise.
43s in Lotus Elan :)

I personally think the 911 RSR IROC is a great car, but it uses 18 tokens, when I should be using 10 max a race, but I dont lose any for 1st race as i couldnt get on server as it was full?

Apart from watkins and sebring there are only other tracks i know really well in the season. So it is better for me to use faster car on tracks im more familiar with?

Your thoughts please...

This will be the third time now Rob (including on the forum & Team Speak)... you don't have an official tokens total yet as you have not done a race with us & that your total is likely to go up when you have. :P

I was going to take the Lightweight E-Type (9 tokens), but I can't make it tonight. Shame as the track is good fun. I guess I get 13 tokens off instead of the 9 I would have used though as I can't make it and that's what I used in the first race (so that's my "average")?

Your 'average' is the average number of tokens per race given at the start. In your case it was 67, for 7 races, so the average is either 9 or 10 depending on whether it is rounded up or down. I guess we would round down to be fair, so you would lose 9 tokens by not attending.

Hi JPV, will be great to have you with us. Assume you'll have about 60 tokens for the rest of the season, but I'll give you an official total after your first race (so you may get slightly more or less ;))
BTW, make sure you're there early to avoid disappointment of a full server.

p.s. I've managed a good few 41's now  :)

Ah right. I see. Thanks for the explanation.

The lightweight E-Type is very lairy around this track which makes it quite good fun to drive if anyone else wants to give it a go.

I too had problems with rejoining after a disco right at the start of quali. Thought it was going to be an early night but managed to squeeze in. It appears there were a few that weren't so lucky, which is a great shame.

With the obvious popularity of the series, would it be possible to explore ways in which we can accomodate everyone. IIRC there was mention of having an A and B race. Perhaps this would be a solution if not, could we discuss other options?

Nice race for me, although I spun it about 5 laps in and had to rejoin after all the field had passed. Finally made it back to 10th with some nice battles along the way. Track/car combi made for some excellent racing, although clearly the Elan was the car to be in. Thanks to those who let me past; I did flash thank yous but my headlights were smashed from my earlier spin.

Congrats to pody and finishers. :)

That was fun  ;D it was a great track to race on!

Made a bit of a boob of the start, was concentrating on the lights too much and forgot to put it in 1st gear  ::) so everyone blasted past.....

Spent most of the first part of the race dicing with Blunder & JPV. Sorry about spinning you Blunder, I waited for you, hopefully there wasn't too much damage.  ???

Had a late pitstop on lap 30, just a splash & dash, but still had to keep pushing as JPV hadn't stopped. Passed him in the pits and spent the final laps driving sensibly & keeping it on the gray stuff.

Well chuffed with 7th  :) and no silly spins either  :D Well done to the podium!!!!

it got a bit hectic and slidey on the white stuff. Had some tussles with MJ, MADD, Lele, and others
throughout the race, I pitted earlier than intended as I read18 as lap, when it was position....
Not aware of nonb pitters, some pitted very early some quite late.

First off, congrats to all who didnt take a flipping Alpine or Elan  :whistling: it doesnt bode well for the token system if it means we are just going to get grids of the same car for easy points. It looked ridiculous on the first few laps with 4 or 5 alpines in front and my mirrors showing another 4 or so  >:( what happened to the lovely varied grids of classic race cars we've been having?  ???
The top 11 race laptimes were all set by Alps and elans  ::) Its not much incentive for the rest of us picking varied cars to know we have no chance against half the grid because of car choice, we may as well have a free for all and i can take me blinking 911  :P
Rant over  ;)

Anyway i had great fun in the wayward E-Type and i enjoyed leaving the alpine hordes for dead on the straights and holding them all up through the twisties  ;D The track is awesome and i enjoyed plenty of good battles with many. Lack or praccy meant i ran 14th-19th most of the race and would have finished higher if i hadnt been rear ended twice by the same Alpine losing me 3 places at the very least  ::)
Liked the pit stop, adds a new dimension, the Jag looked great having its wheels changed even though i had forgot to tell the garage no fuel as well as tyres, so longer stop than planned.

Great turn out, mostly clean racing though i saw a few dodgy etiquette mis-deamonours like lapped cars racing lappers and not sure everyone pitted ?  :detective: so i may gain a place or two yet  ;)

Please do something to eliminate these nimble car fests or you may as well make any race on a twisty track a one make series. Bang up their token cost or something :-\ I dont want our P&G classics becoming yawn fests. :hammer:

That may of been me, but in my defence I'd say that with a field of competitiors either in Alpines or Elans and with my XD just showing me as "1 Lap" and with no blue flags, I was struggling to know if I was racing the guy behing me or not.

Not a great race for me... probably caused by a HUGE mistake of A driverat the start... I expected you would have gived my position back for that contact... but i was wrong... You hit Lele first and than me, you braked like you was on an Alpine, but you had 200 HP more than me... you have to brake earlier, especially in the first lap... The thing that make me surprised is that you after that really bad move didn't expect at all me or Lele... I' ve never seen a thing like that in your server guys, and sincerly I'm a really bit disappointed about that, knowing your usual fair play during the race.

After that I had only attempt to do a Great Comeback from 13th position to the 6th, with CLEAN overtakes that makes me a lot more happy than a dirty one...
I think only that at the start with cold tyres and brakes more calm is needed... That' s all...

Many Congrats to the podium and especially to our Loris that win his First official race in the VDA Team! Great race Mate!!

Cu at the next!

P.S. Regarding this sentence: "lapped cars racing lappers" I can only suggest that is NECESSARY to use the TAB button to know the real position of your opponents... Don't you think so?

EDITED - The accused drivers name. Please make incident report to help everyone's driving standards :).

It's better if you start to use it, especially if you are in troubles with blue flag, it helps a lot :). I had no troubles with you this evening but i think that using TAB button during the race is always useful... To make an exemple: If you find a turned car in a blind corner and you see the Label of a car standing in the corner, you can be sure that the car is stopped or turned, before that your eyes can see if it's true...
I use it only to have less accidents during the race :)

Morning guys!  :)

Lots of interesting comments this morning!  ;D
Isn't that what a forum gives us! lol  ;D

I had a great race and take pride in being the highest placed, none roller skate!  ;D
Same as MJ, hold everybody up round the twisties and scream down the straights!
Apologies to all who got frustrated and lost it behind me!  ;D
If I was a little all over the place on occasions then I suggest you give that car/track a quick spin and see how you like it!  ;)

No probs on the tap, Tim, hardly noticed it in that tank! thanks for waiting! You got me in the end!  :D

Really enjoyed that! If you hadn't guessed I will be in my lovely L88 all season provided I am not too far off pace!

Not so much of a mix as you say MJ but as we are trying this token system then it's back to the old, lets give it a go, fine tune it and hopefully get something
that encourages a spread in future!

28+ of us fighting to get on the server is a testiment to how good this is / will become!

Thanks all

M.

Oh Can't finish without big congrats to our Team Oldie !  ;D 2nd, 3rd and 4th places! Go guys!

For Legzy & Tony: It's possible to consider the possibility of 2 servers for the races in P&G? In the 1st season you have 42 Classified drivers, in the Tokens one, there are already 38 person.
And after every race I see some people that can't join races because it's always full. It seems more a race like "Who is the fastest to join into the server?"
I hope you will consider it for the next races if it's possible for you!
Cu :)

I had a very enjoyable start at the race where pied piper MJ led a gaggle of alpines in some very close battles. Lots of fun :) As the field spread out, the battles became fewer but was helped by a quick pitstop - not much fuel needed for the little alpine. Was glad in the end to make it home in 16th especially starting from 23rd. While the alpine was fun to drive, it was a bit slow (with me behind the wheel) to match the rest of the field.

Wrt to MJ's comments on car choices, I tend to look at what the Aliens (i.e. our Italian friends) are testing in the race run up and go with that, in the naive (and a bit lazy) thinking that I can emulate their times in that car :) Maybe other drivers think that way and that's why the race has the same cars. What I should be doing is aiming a lot higher in car choice and use my larger allocation of tokens as the system was designed. I will endeavor to ignore the Aliens car choice next race!! ;D  On a footnote to this, a question to the VDA drivers who spend serious time preparing for the race: do you try all the PnG cars on the forthcoming track or do you always
go for a core subset of cars that you know from experience are good?

It's a shame that drivers can't get on the server as it's full - is the cap of 28 drivers bandwidth, server hardware or track restricted?

No... we just like to run with the right car for each track that fit with our limited budget. Here in Birmingham, we should decide to choose an Alpine, to do some point, and before the race, I expected a midfield position... I was wrong this time :)

The Elan was surely the fastest choice... but its price is 8 tokens more than the alpine... too much for me...

From my experience I just can tell you that you will see again a lot of L88 in the next GP at Sebring... Is the only car that surely can compete with some other expensive cars that some people will probably choose this time (for me if all of you want to take again an Elan or an Alpine is better ;D ;D)... even if Sebring it's not an oval masked by track like Daytona...

Only a thing... I really didn't understand why yesterday that was a single make of Alpine or Elan... So much people have a huge budget to take something better than these cars... Is it all a strategy to destroy us in the last races?!?!  ;D ;D ;D

Cu :)

I really enjoyed that. Great tough track & obviously the complete opposite of Daytona.

Maybe that's why out of the 28 drivers that started the race, 20 were in Elan's or Alpines, it was possibly the single twistiest track I think I've ever done  :-\.

I know that personally I tried 17 different car models here (yes that's not a misprint) ranging from the IROC to the TR4. I really wanted to use something like the E-Type lightweight or the Volumetrico, but they just didn't float my boat here. The 3 cars I enjoyed the most were (in order) the Abarth, the Alpine, the Elan. I even managed 1:48's in the Abarth, but I ran round on my own at the back for the last race & wanted to be closer to the sharp end this time. Breaking my PB in qually by 1.5 secs was quite a pleasant surprise ;D, seeing the driver on pole still over a second ahead of me & in the same car was a further surprise! :o

Gutted for the people who have not been able to get on the server due to overcrowding, especially the people who got on but lost connecting & then couldn't rejoin :(. 28 is the limit, but I'll make sure our server guru is aware of the questions people have been raising here.

I'll work out the tokens spent by everyone for this race & your remaining budgets, also grant our new comers an official budget (which as stated may be more or less then my initial guessed quota for them ;)).

Great fun throughout the race. After the initial mayhem ended up behind Blunder's Corvette, just couldn't find any way to get past in my Elan. With Tim closing in from the rear I had to try some desperate measures and spun my car, which dropped me right into another battle with a couple of Alpines and the roles were reversed.

Full tank of fuel was more than enough and the tyres felt good all the way to the end so I decided to just do a quick stop near the end. Didn't realize I could just have changed my front tyres, that could have saved me a dozen seconds and I might have still had a shot for 7th. Nevertheless very pleased with the race. I do like the new token system, exiting to be in the better part of the grid for a change.  ;D

As 28 started the race, I guess that when I left & tried to rejoin with about 90s of qually left, someone was waiting in the lobby for just such an occurance to happen.  ::)

Possibly having lost their own space before yourself mate. I know that my connection dropped out in practice & I think Tony's did at the same time, we got back in then as numbers 27 & 28  :sweatdrop:. Having put the practice time in, I'd have been :taz: too had it all been a waste.

Yes Legzy, I saw you and Tony drop out simultaneously right in front of me. I seemed to go just as prac turned over to Quali, but managed to get back in about 6 or 7 minutes into the session.

I've been thinking of possible solutions to this problem and would like to put one forward.

How about we run 2 races one after the other on PnG evenings and split the field by some kind of ranking system. Maybe a division 1 and division 2. This way the current tokens system could remain and there would still be close racing. At the end of each season there could be promotion/relegation between the 2 divisions which I think would be good for competion. There would still be room for new drivers to join in either division depending on their level. Speaking as someone who is firmly division 2 material, I think it would add further spice to an already great series.

Just a suggestion.

that online limiting numbers is a real bugger...curse you simbin ! (shakes fist  :P ) such a shame we cant have upto 40 cars at some of the great tracks that could easily handle it...sebring, Le Mans etc.  :'(

Car choices aside, it was a good race last night, another corker of a track that suits P&G well. 8) I just would rather have been door to door with a variety of classic gt cars each with their own strengths and weaknesses than 'attack of the nimble clones' that were completely mismatched to my own (and the few that braved it)car choices. :-\

Ironically the alpine is actually one of my favourite classic rally cars, its a beauty, but never gonna take it knowing there were about 20 other of the buggers on track !  ::)

I like the two divisions idea. It would be good to race against others of the same high calibre as myself. And we could have a promotion and relegation zones too.

Promotions and relegations idea it's really not bad, if the result is splitting the drivers in 2 servers, that should be good for everybody that want to join your races, and have not a race on who join first the server... By my side, if races will remain only in 1 server I won't allow any other mine teammate to join in your races... VDA drivers are just enough but P&G is a really great mod and the attendance of your races demonstrates that:)

I could ask to my boss if we can use our VDA server too for your races... but I can't assure nothing about that... Let me know if I have to make this attempt :)

I had some trouble with lapping cars. No one's fault, but I would slow to let them through in the twisties
(they were invariably Elans or Renault) only to be held up on the following straights, they eventually
pulled out a lead so I could get on with racing the guy in front/behind who were now more
of a threat than before. I could have retaken lapping cars several times, but didn't, was
not a real issue, just an irritation. I don't believe I held any up for more than a couple of turns

Yeh, sorry Legzy, it could well have been someone in the same predicament as me. Never mind, lets move on.

Just a point re: 2 divisions, if we try and run two divisions on a single server on one night, we run into the problem that some drivers can't drive early and others can't drive late.  I certainly can't race on a regular basis after 2200 hrs UK time - our bedroom is adjacent to my computer.

Drivers who overspent their seasons Token Allocation.

The following drivers have now had points deducted for overspending their Token budgets:

  • (VDA) MinholoS — advice — Tokens Debt = 2 Tokens — 10.0 championship points
  •  Truetom  —  advice  —  Tokens Debt  =  4 Tokens  — 20.0 championship points

Note - Each overspending driver has been docked points at their final race attended of the series.
