Anybody know anything about any kind of fix for this?

I'll prepare a substitute P&G race tomorrow ready in case...

There is a patch which lets you connect direct to the server without going through the lobby. It is available here:

http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=3105

There is a guide to using it in the second post of this thread:

http://www.gamers-crib.com/forum/showthread.php?p=26895

It works OK, Gamers-crib & NoGrip use it.

I think that's the same as this https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6553.msg113245#msg113245

But I've just tried to connect to GTL and nothing happened.

GTL Lobby

As you may be aware, for the past few days, the GTL lobby has been down. We currently do not know if this is a short term or permanent situation.
Although we are aware of an available possible software workaround, it is not simple & results seem to be mixed. We feel that unless the lobby actually comes back up, or a simple & effective workaround presents itself, we may have to sadly abandon this race.

Therefore we will make an announcement no later then 16:00 hrs BST Thursday 24th September the GTL lobby is still unavailable, this GTL event will be cancelled and an alternative P&G Fun race will be held. (PnG Barcelona fun race details here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6815.msg119037#msg119037))

We are sorry that we are having to take this action but we feel it's best to be as prepared as we can.

(p.s. I will be online for some practice tonight, be it GTL or more likely P&G Barcelona)

it is not simple & results seem to be mixed.

Is that definitely the case Chris? I thought we managed a decent grid with it - Obviously I don't want anyone to miss out (unless it's Ade :)) but I thought we all sussed it pretty quickly?

We are currently using the fixed lobby patch that "we all sussed pretty quick", that has enabled us to race for the last six(ish) weeks. Trouble is, the lobby is now.... even more broken  & we can't get in. Hence the above announcement.

If anybody can get themselves into the lobby &/or connect to our server, then please tell us how?

Ok I'm with you - so the domain went down before, we bypassed it to get to the lobby, now the lobby's not there to connect to regardless. Has anyone tried removing the patch and connecting?

Looks like the good old anti-deco patch is the only option right now...

I have just come across this:

I tried it & got onto the UKGTL server at Long Beach.

No, you don't need the antideco patch for this to work. Just change the 'hosts' file. Don't forget to save your existing hosts file.

Yeah just tried this and it worked 3 out of 3 times. Out of interest Geoffers what IP Address did you use?

Title: Re: UKGTL Season 8 GT Classics Cup - Long Beach - Sep 24

I used this one, 81.19.209.165. to access the UKGTL server.

Funny thing was, I couldn't get it to work at first, then I noticed I had missed the 'r' out of the word 'server' when changing the 'hosts' file.

So Geoffers,
Am I understanding you correctly, that you added the following line to your host file & it worked?:

81.19.209.165 www.gtl-server.net

Cheers

Well I'm thick and I just did it.

Just make sure you put " 85.214.139.23 " as the address in your hosts file and just add the UKGTL IP address: 81.19.209.165 in the game.

Simples ;D

No Legzy, add 85.214.139.23 to your hosts file and 81.19.209.165 in the game. :)

I dread to think what "simples" means in Portuguese :)

Here's what I did....

Go to

http://www.gamers-crib.com/forum/showpost.php?p=87225&postcount=20

Follow the instructions and put " 85.214.139.23 www.gtl-server.net " as the address in your hosts file.

Open the game as normal and select multiplayer, but then select the Direct/Lan option and click on "add IP address". Then just add the UKGTL IP address: 81.19.209.165. This will then take you to the usual log in page which you click as usual.

It will search for a few seconds and then the UKGTL Long Beach server will appear. Just enter as normal.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Gold.  ;)

"Simples" means in English: Unsophisticated, unlaboured, humble, easy, simple, primary, etc....  :D

TONY & MYSELF HAVE DECIDED THAT IT'S BEST IF WE CALL OFF TONIGHTS RACE NOW, RATHER THEN LEAVE IT TILL LATER TODAY.

We're as disappointed as yourselves to have to cancel any championship race, but feel that it is the correct decision for tonight. (for some people this may be a straight forward action, but for others it could lead to them missing a Championship race. No other "click it & go" fix has miraculously appeared, so it's better to know sooner then later)

This new "Ruby" fix seems promising & will potentially be the tool we use to race at Bathurst next week, when everyone has had a chance to prepare/test their connections in advance.

Once again sorry to cancel it, but hopefully you'll all join us tonight anyway to get your racing fix/console yourselves with a UKP&G fun race at Barcelona. Details HERE (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6815.msg119037#msg119037)

Good move chaps - absolutely nothing to do with the fact I've not turned a wheel around here either.  ;D

If possible, I'd love to still race around here at some point - looks like it's got the potential to be mega with the elevation changes and big stops.

Now enjoy this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W77uk1ejcpY&feature=fvsr   8)

Hahaha very cool PR. While we're doing random thread hijacking, an old classic to lift the mood - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tFdTp_qanE

Oh well, probably a wise move, but as James says, so long as this race gets rescheduled - I tried the e-type last night and it was really excellent fun, even if I fear for my ability to keep out of the walls for 50 minutes.

This track was one of the very first UKGTL races I did, but being knackered that night I stuck my Pantera in the wall......ah, memories.....

One of the reasons this track was scheduled was because it had been so long since it had been used & all the post-race feed back seemed good.
We'll have a look to see where we might be able to slot it back in later.

Mind you I haven't turned a wheel at Barcelona either  :o
I picked Barcelona because I love it it's one of the default tracks that come with GTR2 & so I hoped that it would be familiar to most people & it also doesn't particularly favour any particular type of car 8)
I'm hoping to be able to get on the server pretty early tonight for some practice. Will happily let people follow me round if it's not that familiar to anybody yet :) There will probably be a few in the same boat.
