Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=227)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph.

Title: Re: UKPnG Season 1 Clubmans Tokens - Edmonton - Oct 6
Post by: Legzy on September 25, 2009, 11:41:14 PM +0100
EXTRA INFO:  I'm sure you've noticed I've made a bit of a tweak to the system. I've done this because I want to encourage people to take the chance to drive the different levels of fantastic cars that PnG has to offer.

I could be wrong, but it seemed like we were all almost afraid to splash out on anything more lavish then an Elan (13 tokens)!!! For some of the faster guys it's very hard to splash out as they obviously have smaller budgets, while maybe some of the guys with bigger budgets didn't want to splash out & find themselves up front on their own :-\. So I have worked out some affordable 'token ranges' for each of the final four races of this test/fun season:

Race 4) Edmonton     = 7 to 16 Token cars
Race 5) Watkins Glen = 12 to 20 Token cars
Race 6) Mid-America = 0 to 9 Token cars
Race 7) Riverside       = 3 to 12 Token cars

Some drivers may immediately be concerned that they "can't afford a car for the Watkins tokens range"... don't worry, you can .
To go with the 'token ranges', I have also worked out a "Suggested Token Spend" for each person, for each race. You don't have to stick to your "Suggested Token Spend", but if you're close to it, you should be about on pace with most other people (= improved close racing) & finish the season on budget ;).

Cheers
Legzy

p.s. I've slipped you all a nice little Legzy Bonus! (+4 tokens) ;D.

Zoom out a bit Paul, should all line up in the right order.

Don't understand Ade, I had 36 before sebring and now I have 26 (+4). Should I not have 30 (+4)?

[EDIT] ah, see what you mean now! I suggest the formatting is changed then since I read this on a fairly hi-res monitor.

You do have 36, if your text is too big it doesn't line up in the  right order, just press ctrl and - a few times  and it will show the correct amount.

Hope in some close racing for the next! Good luck to Legzy for his new adjustements in tokens system! Hope it will work sincerly :)

Tomorrow I'll going to Mugello circuit with some mine VDA mate, to support a VDA "real driver" involved in the Italian GT2 with a Ferrari 430! I'll post some photos here when I'll come back on Sunday!
Have a nice week end guys... Cu :)

It is .

The problem was the title lengths. I've made them all appear on two lines now, hopefully that will help you?

It isn't in terms of html though. Presumably the forum software doesn't use an html table to display a table  ::)

I don't understand? The test table above is a nice html table, but the data in your table is formatted using
s  ???

The table appears to format itself correctly for me no matter how big or small a font or monitor I use, in both Firefox 3.5 and IE8.

Yeah, me too!
Lets give it a go!
The more we test these type of things the closer we will get to closer racing!
BTW, I was very slow to appreciate the intentions of this!
I believe if we mostly take a car which is plus or minus 1 token away from Legzy's suggested spend then we will all be closer!
I was gonna run the L72 thinking I would save 3 tokens! for what I have no idea! lol  ;)
Will now take the opportunity to try something better and use my 12 suggested tokens! ( +/- 1 ! )
Mmmm, just need to find some practice time! :)

I've restarted the server again Ade. I've set Barcelona as the default track, try connecting to that. If it works, do a vote for next event & it will cycle onto Edmonton. See what happens.
If you can't connect to Barcelona either, try these:
Can you connect to any other PnG server? (to see if it's a server specific issue)
Also, can you connect with GTR2 to the UKGTR2 server? (to see if it's a PnG specific issue)

Let me know how you go, so I can put the server back properly :)

Done mid 1:24's (race setup) in both the Cobra Coupe & the Daytona now. While Lazlow seemed to have the knack of hustling the L88 Coupe round (I've no idea how) in about the same pace.

I was mid 25's in the cheaper Cobra 289 Roadster, but I've seen some of the VDA team (who are quicker drivers then me), also matching mid-low 24's on the server.

p.s. your initial reaction to this track may be "average", but it seems to work very well in racing, once you've got a grasp of the layout 8)

Unfortunately I don't think it will work that way. A lot of the cars don't work that well here compared to the cobras, so the car choice is in reality fairly restricted if you want to compete.

Well don't keep it to yourself, why not name & shame perhaps four cars spread over the token values that people might want to check out if they're short of time?

just did half hours worth, down to 1:26 so far in a yankee muscle car. Have raced here before i realised when track loaded up. Think we did a fun race? here in GTR2, not that i remembered the corner combos. Will have to get my time down during qually.
Great fun sliding the beast around with all that welly but a lot of frustrating little straights where dont get enough time to enjoy the acceleration before hitting the anchors again for another tight corner.
Think a few will be hitting walls in this one too !  :P

If you can afford an IROC then good for you! (I certainly can't). Most of the muscle cars don't work that well because they are heavy, and all the corners make them pay a huge penalty. The cobras though are powerful(ish) but light, and the lack of long straights means that they don't suffer from aero or outright power limitations. In theory the etype 5 sp is in with a shout, but it is not as easy to extract the performance.

Was really enjoying that. Very intense racing!

Also great to see 9 different cars across the 19 drivers, nice one 8)

Qualified 8th, was upto 4th with the brute power of the cobra & held there till Dave & Paul had a little rub ahead? That gifted me 2nd, but I didn't hold it for long. Fell back down the order to 8th again. Then climbed a couple back to 6th. Then had a good lap with JPV who was catching me from behind for a few laps. He managed to get past & as I followed him into the 1st chicane he broke very hard (nursing damaged car already?), where I don't brake at all & I was straight in the back of him. Shunting him into the tyre wall ahead :(. I pulled up a few yards down the road to wait, but saw he exited his car so I did the same.

My fault, should always allow for others possible braking, sorry JPV. :-[

Quali'd mid grid in the 914. Had a decent start and made a few places through first lap incidents. Had some nice battles with Matt, Blunder and Legzy but evening was spoilt by me misjudging my braking and spinning round Matt. Very sorry Matt, wasn't even trying to pass at that point, hope there was no damage. :(

Eventually put it in the wall which led to damage, which then led to putting it in the wall again leading to further damage.......lost interest and decided to call it a night.

Well that was great fun, if something of a comedy of errors.
Qualed 3rd with an OK time. had been doing half a sec quicker in pre race prac, had done a 22.2
but either kept catching traffic, or didn't get a good one together, anyroad up was fine.
Was easily outdragged at the start by the muscle cars, then spent the next 20 odd laps stuck to
Manteos' rear bumper, I was quicker over a lap. but could not make a pass in the twisties, as he
stuck to his lines with great aplomb, Got spun by Goldie, no worries, no damage, just had to
wait another couple to get my chase cam view of Manteos back.
swapped paint slightly once, but otherwise was some good close quarters racing, had just managed to
sneak up the inside when he went a few millimetres wide only to come into T1 to find a rejoining Cobra.
stayed up the inside, but he had better speed into the 1st chicane and I got bumped off  :o
Got going again, caught up my shadow, and once more hung on to his bumper for a few
then when he had a bad run over the start/finish, I made a pass up the inside into T1, only to get a stop/go
for cut track  :'( arghhh
Heck, what do I have to do to make up one little place.  ::)
Anyway, was mostly good fun.
Ta for the organising, great job Guys.

Oh,My system crashed after the race and didn't get the replay, if someone could post it (Legz?) I would be gratefull
ta

Immensely fun race despite all the mishaps. IROC Porsche was excellent to drive on the track, qualified 4th. Started carefully and gave up a couple of places just to try and be safe, but got punted around in the first chicane, causing a big pileup. Sorry to others who got caught!

Dropped to the back of the grid and had to work hard to climb back. Catching up was easy but getting safely past the powerful Cobras took some effort. After slipping wide in a corner and having to do it all over again, I eventually got up to 8th and had a fun battle with Legzy, until got bumped into the tyres which finally killed the engine. Waste of a good Porsche, but great fun actually overtaking others instead of getting lapped as is usual. :)

He managed to get past & as I followed him into the 1st chicane he broke very hard (nursing damaged car already?), where I don't brake at all & I was straight in the back of him.

That was actually my normal line through the corner, apparently not quite the correct one then. :P No wonder it caught you by suprise, no hard feelings.

Was shocked to be among the pace setters all through free practice. Thought maybe I'd snatch pole until I saw Jose's immense time, and when unluckily for him he got disco'd I inherited the front slot on the grid.

Was a bit worried about how quick the Elans would be off the line and totally failed to account for the heavy metal, which promptly game barrelling past in the form of Paul968 and Lele. Of course I was stuck behind them at least until my tyres warmed up, and after a couple of laps I was starting to get held up really badly in the corners and then struggling to even get alongside on the straights. ::) :D

Paul was pushing really hard and I was alternately attempted to sneak past and avoid running into him. He had a big moment in the final chicane and I tried to go round the outside, but unfortunately touched the back of him, sending him round. In slowing down I let the Elan's I'd been worried about past and had to fight my way back past them quickly before I started to lose the tyres, so I had to press on and not wait for Paul, which I'd have preferred to do.

In the meantime, Jose had shrugged off his grid demotion and almost as soon as I'd passed Lele for the lead (at the second attempt - had to give the first one back as I cut a corner doing it) he was all over me like a bad rash. I was destroying my left rear trying to stay ahead so was quite relieved when he slipped by and I could back off a touch and calm things down a bit.

Spent most of the rest of the race just trying to be consistent. Near the end I realised King was catching me quickly but with 2 laps to go I looked secure in second. Why then did I stupidly run wide out of the final chicane on the penultimate lap, bending my suspension and letting him by? Because I'm a plonker, that's why. ::) :-[ :'( Had to stroke my broken car round the last lap - if I'd known Paul was in 4th I might have pulled over and given him the final podium place. :-\

Enjoyed that a lot despite my stupid mistake at the end. Makes a change for me to be at the sharp end.

Mariners! ;D ;D ;D

another cracking race in p&G  :thumbup1:

Took the Shelby Daytona Coupe as it felt great fun sliding through the corners and blasting down the straights. Was sorely tempted to take the IROC at last minute as i tried it for 3 laps offline and beat my laptimes by 3 seconds instantly !  :o but hadnt had enough running so stuck to the Coupe.

Enjoyed a great race long battle with API in his Cobra. Battled my way past after many laps chasing and started to eek out a small lead. But got a bit sideways on a corner exit, tried to correct, but got caught accidentally by Goldtop? and span off sideways  :'( Then had to spend next 10mins closing the gap back down and chased API again hard for the remainder of the race with him only 1.5-2.5 secs ahead. :fencing:
With the gap close and only 2 laps remaining i foolishly let Jose (race leader past) only for him to inadvertently cut me up at next left turn  ::) and i had nowhere to go except bounce over the kerbs and lost about 3 seconds so that ended a dramatic last lap battle. :(
Great fun race though, finished 9th.?

The track looked awesome in the dusk light settings, as did the cars broadsiding through the faster turns :thumbup2:

Congrats to Jose and the pody guys  8)

Don't worry about it Dave, it was just one of those things. If you get badly out of shape with another car nearby then contact is as much your fault (IMO), so I would not have wanted you to wait. Never quite got a good lap in qual (was on one but stuffed it at the penultimate corner), but 7th wasn't too bad given the cars ahead. Had a great start and swallowed up several cars, but Dave was pretty soon all over me, so much so that part of me was thinking of letting him go. Wish I had now, but hindsight is a wonderful thing   I had a nice little battle with Lele a bit later on for 4th, but just as I was really closing in for the kill he must have got distracted and drove head on into the barrier on the left before T1 - spectacular! For a lap or 2 I thought about chasing King in his elan, but by then the tyres were going off and I was in danger of messing it up, so I settled for 4th. Congrats to Jose for the win and King and Dave for the podiums.

Quite enjoyed the track for the chance to chuck the cobra around, but it is so hard to see exactly where you are. Not that surprised by the high attrition rate that resulted, but at least it means I climb the table a bit  :)

Checked my replay Mark and it wasn't me.

I didn't realise until viewing my replay that with my last bounce off the wall I collected Ade which I think finished his race.  :-[ Altogether a miserable race then; wish I'd taken the more predictible fezza :(

A fun, but also frustrating race for me, but my driving was all over the place at times. I struggled to keep the 914 on the tarmac in the slow corners and mid-race it lost a lap after an off putting me firmly at the back of the race.

Perhaps I should have taken an Elan, for some reason I thought it was too many points. Dunno where that came from  :-\

I'm pretty sure that was me, I was driving a red 914 like Goldtop. I was just behind you & API, got a run on the outside of API when you careered off just in front, just avoiding t-boning you!

Well done to the podium, and apologies to anyone I tangled with!

That was my only error whole race but cost me the epic fight with API. Thats racing  :)

Baffled why I took the Cobra 289 Roadster when I could have taken a faster car, realised I was not fast enough too late during qual. ::) Made an ok start and drove an incident free race and finished 10th due to the high attrition. Had a bit of a battle in the early stages but most of the race I was on my own.
I am just not fast enough. Even when I did what I felt was a good lap and hit all the apexes I still lost time on the car in front. I also finished with the 2nd slowest laptime and got lapped. All rather depressing really. :-\ Big respect to those drivers who were in the same or similar cars and lap so much quicker. It don't make no sense I tell ya!

Forgot to change the tires from soft to medium and after 11 laps my rear tires were almost melted.
But untill then, I was having lots of fun sliding the little Alfa all over the place and exiting corners
with the inside wheel like an American powered beast,  ;D one feet over the tarmac.  :D
Of course it was a cheap car choice but undoubtadly the slower around here, although in a couple
of sections of the track I could stay with a few cars, at least on the first 11 laps.
Near the end, I've done a rollover stunt manouver, my car was up side down. Didn't managed to put
it on the wheels again so I left.  ::)
Congrats to podium.

Cheers

Lol! I'll remind you of the 'Thats racing' ... next time!  ;D

Good solid race for me!
Managed to steer to the right of the hassles at turn 4! over the grass and rejoined having lost about 6 places!
....Thats racing  :)

Had a few good battles along the way and brought her home 7th!
Can't complain!
That must be the best token race we have had so far!?
Hopefully a hint that whatever we are doing is heading us in the right direction.

Thanks all

M.

hello king
I think that King surely intended he really dislikes win in that way... damned Google Translator :).. It's not bad the translation for the word "porsche" that becomes "pig" in english... lol :balloon: :balloon: :balloon: Even the translator knows the porsche got some obesity troubles!!
I'll force king to make an incident report about this...

About my race it was all on the defensive... I gained some position at the start, and than I've to suffer to take matt_rowe behind me for more than 10 laps with a slower car like the 289. It was an interesting fight because I hold my pace, not giving to him the chance of an easy overtake. For the first time during this champ I had not so much time to train for this one, and I had no chances of keeping the pace of Lele or Paul that were consistenly under my pace nearby 1 sec for lap, even if I was engaged with matt, and I had to think more to watch my back, than to look forward! For what I see by laptimes, I'm so happy to be the 2nd 289 Cobra Roads in the classement, because IROCs, Elan and Ferrari Speciale here were on another planet!!! However it's good to notice, that the spread in terms of time is going to decrease compared to the previous races, especially in qualif session. During the race, it's obvious that lap by lap there's a better understanding of cars and track, and the gap increased a bit between faster & slower drivers, but we're going in the right direction. It's good to see that if anyone would have take the suggested legzy car, probably we would have a really close race for first places, but it's right that people like Jose or Dave, that in the previous race were savers, now are taking advantage of their good "economical situation".
However it's always good running here with you guys, and I've to thanx always mine VDA mates that followed me in this adventure, and that want to go on in this champ, even if with less time to train... Never give up Guys!

Cu at the next!!!
