Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=227)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph.

Only cars of token values between 3 & 12  tokens will be used at this event (see list above for quick ref).

Clubmans & Tokens quick guide (see bottom for full details)
  • All drivers get a Tokens budget for the season
  • The faster the driver, the less Tokens they get
  • The better the car, the higher it's Tokens cost is to use in a race
  • If you do not attend the race, you will lose a predetermined individual quantity of your Tokens (equal to races "Suggested Token Spend")
  • Trust me, you do not want to run out of Tokens before the final race! :death: ****

EXTRA INFO:(Repeated)  I'm sure you've noticed I've made a bit of a tweak to the system. I've done this because I want to encourage people to take the chance to drive the different levels of fantastic cars that PnG has to offer.

I could be wrong, but it seemed like we were all almost afraid to splash out on anything more lavish then an Elan (13 tokens)!!! For some of the faster guys it's very hard to splash out as they obviously have smaller budgets, while maybe some of the guys with bigger budgets didn't want to splash out & find themselves up front on their own :-\. So I have worked out some affordable 'token ranges' for each of the final four races of this test/fun season:

Race 4) Edmonton     = 7 to 16 Token cars
Race 5) Watkins Glen = 12 to 20 Token cars
Race 6) Mid-America = 0 to 9 Token cars
Race 7) Riverside       = 3 to 12 Token cars

Some drivers may immediately be concerned that they "can't afford a car for the Watkins tokens range"... don't worry, you can .
To go with the 'token ranges', I have also worked out a "Suggested Token Spend" for each person, for each race. You don't have to stick to your "Suggested Token Spend", but if you're close to it, you should be about on pace with most other people (= improved close racing) & finish the season on budget ;).

Cheers
Legzy

p.s. Please remember that you get nothing for finishing the season with tokens to spare, but you will suffer badly if you spend more then your budget  :gun_bandana: ;)

A simple way to get a rough idea is to set up a race weekend full of AI controlled cars set at 110%. You may need to do this a few times to avoid anomolies, but you will soon see what pace the different cars can acheive.

The AI method gave a similar result first time.

2:11 in a Corvette of some description.

My first outing yielded a 2:13 in the Daytona Coupe but if I could get it to turn right at the banking I think I can do better.

PM sent to you Clive with a link to HERE  (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6123.msg106130#msg106130) that might hopefully help you get that car turning how you want. :)

It's never going to turn how I want it to but I have made the front row of the grid in the AI race.

Nobody here will ever accuse you of being a bit thick Mark ;)
Everyone's Token totals have now been updated. The total's now displayed, include the bonus 4 tokens I gave you all a few races back.
So you have 10 tokens available to spend for this race Mark.

Shouldn't the suggested token spend = the number of tokens you have left?

Or am I missing something obvious?  ???

Title: Re: UKPnG Season 1 Clubmans Tokens - Riverside (Long) - Nov 17
Post by: Paul968 on November 06, 2009, 05:42:13 PM +0000
It's a technicality Tim. The suggested spend is the number you will be charged if you don't race. If we made this the number left then it would encourage people to use a lot of tokens before and then not race in the last one.

thats cos you were greedy and used a speedy porker  ;) us others showed some restraint even when we did want to take said speedy porkers   ;D
Never done a lap at Riverside so havent got a clue yet what sort of car is more effective here. Should be interesting. I wanted to take an IROC to emulate the real mccoy at this place but alas the token fairy was too stingey   ;)

If you pick a sensible car from your suggested spend value... that's as close as I can get to giving you a "busy"  race.

So how many tokens does some Numpty get when he wanders in off the street for the last race?  ;D
12 would be good.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
Keep working on that Daytona or try one of the 289 Cobra's (Roadster turns a bit easier), keep us updated with your times & I'm sure you'll be fine Clive

Well I've got 0 left which effectively excludes me. :(
.
Nope, you can choose a car to the value of 3 Tokens & it will save you some penalty points (as it will be less then your suggested spend)

Well I've got 0 left which effectively excludes me. :(

Good job too as I've never like Riverside.

Power, that's what you want here mate.

(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
start - programs - power&glory - Launch PnG patcher

Do the feedback patch while you're there  ;)

Even then you will get occasional "booted as possible cheat" messages (same message with GTR2 ::))

wow, what a great track this is ! Pure wide power circuit and loads of sweeping corner combos to get the power slides through  8)

This will be a mega race  :) A track we should use more often too for high speed adrenalin action.

Times so far (only about 5 laps in each)

L88 2:09  wild and furious!
Cobra coupe 2:12
Vette Z06 2:15

All 3 cars felt awesome around here. Now i know why the yanks love their big-block motors with tracks like this to stretch your legs on. The only concern is a 6 second spread on just the 3 cars i tried.  :o You really need the best bang for buck you can afford here with your tokens otherwise you will be left in the tyre smoke  :P

Cheers MJ. Tony gets credit for recommending begging for this one (& the bloke who made the track I suppose ;)).

I'd be interested in your L72 time if you've got a chance to try it out MJ? I had a quick go in that at Mid-America & it felt a very nice drive, so I've kind of got that penciled in as the car I might drive here :-\.

So far:

2:11.4 in L72
2:10.892 in ATCC

2:10.891 (CLive in CObra Coupe) Doesn;'t get any closer.... 8)

I sweated cobs trying to better that after you had left but never managed it.

I was experimenting with the gear ratios and think that I must have left them too short.  I was getting a half second improvement at the first split and then it vanished by the end of the lap, even though I thought I was going quicker! :(

I also like this track and I like it in GPL too.

From my GPL experience it does have one drawback when hosting mixed-ability fields.  The two 180 degree turns are the problem.  Being only human, I like to take these on a double apex route but the aliens seem to be able to find enough grip to hug the inside all the way round and then go stuffing their car down the inside at mid-turn.  I'm hoping that the virtual mirrors in P&G will let me see them coming.

It's fair enough if you have messed up a corner and gone wide then you shouldn't cut back in but if you are still giving it your Sunday best and suddenly hit a car on the inside who wasn't even close when you turned in it can put a crimp on your day.

Still a good track that obviously didn't survive long enough to be emasculated by the addition of chicanes named after Senna.

For me it's a toss up between L72 and ATCC,
I had been quicker in the L72 as I couldn't keep the ATCC's rear in line with the front long enough to use it's power
Have messed with setups some now, and the ATCC is still less stable but is potentially faster
L72 might score on consistant times though. And the ATCC wastes one $L, and I hate wasting money  :D

More playtime required.

Practice went well thanks Legzy.  I find solitary practice a real pain so it was nice to have company.

It was good for another half second for me so I'm currently at 2:09.5 in the Cobra 289 Coupe (not Willment)  ;D  Mr Blunder was in the 09's as well in the L72 as I recall.

Could you tell me what the Willment Cobra 289 has that makes it worth another dollar?

It has extra HP Clive.
It is a slightly tougher drive, but is faster.

Glad I did a few laps last night, this track (particularly the early wiggley bit) is tougher then I remember from when testing. Very nice though :)

    • Trust me, you do not want to run out of Tokens before the final race! :death:****
Has now been updated to include specific details:
**** = Five points will be deducted for every Token overspent from your Tokens budget, after the final race of the season has been moderated.

Everyone has done very well in sticking to the spirit of how we wanted this Clubmans Series to be & only a minimum number of people look likely to have any points deducted (mostly people that only attended Daytona... oh & our Director General :wetfish:).

Not that I was entirely with it before... but I've been assuming my budget was the original + the extra 3
So I have 9 to spend? do I get 9, but I am docked 15 points if I use all 9?
Can't see the ALpine being effective here, even in Lele's hands  :D

I think Tony's friend has found something inthe L72, I can only get into 11's with a good lap, what am I doing
    to lose 2 secs... hmmm

    Only a stupid question Legzy.

I see that Lele got 6 tokens remaining. Why I see a forecast of -1, even if he got a suggested token spend for this race of 6?!?

I just told you it was a stupid question :)

Hope to be here for the final round guys, let's see what happens!

    Cu :)

Petition to cut some tokens to Rockefeller Legzy for the last race!
LoL, I've got 12 tokens left but I wont be using them all up. While the Daytona would be perfect here, I've driven her before in a race & am enjoying trying a different car at every race so far. I'll probably be in either the L72 / GT350 / Cobra (not Willment)  :P ;)

I've been assuming my budget was the original + the extra 3
So I have 9 to spend? do I get 9, but I am docked 15 points if I use all 9?
I'll assume you mean the "extra +4 bonus" Tokens I gave out? ;) Don't worry about them, they are now part of your remaining total.
So you have done very well to get to the last race with nine Tokens remaining, when that is also your suggested Token spend (for a competitive race) 8).
If you spend nine Tokens (or less) at this race, you'll not be docked any points. If you spend more then nine here Matt, you will be docked five points for each extra token over your remaining budget you spend. :)

I see that Lele got 6 tokens remaining. Why I see a forecast of -1, even if he got a suggested token spend for this race of 6?!?
An admin error by Tony ::)... OK, OK it was my mistake & I've corrected now thanks :-[

Yes, but that would be the viewpoint I did not really want to encourage & why I'd only published ":death:" as a deterrent to overspending till now (the final race).

Hopefully people will continue to bare in mind that the budgets were designed to give everyone the chance to be equally competitive at each race, so we could all enjoy closer racing :). Which I think we have.

A quick reminder of what I said earlier:
Everyone has done very well in sticking to the spirit of how we wanted this Clubmans Series to be

I'm a little confused about the ffb patch.

Could someone who knows please talk me through how to set this and what sort of effect it has.

I think that improves a little bit the Feedback effects on your wheel, giving a more realistic feeling driving the car.

To set it you have to go in the main folder of your P&G installation, then click on the file PlrPatcher. A red window will appear, click on "apply the force feedback patch", and then choose the .PLR file to apply the patch, that you will find in your ingame profile folder c:/P&G/UserData/57 goldtop.
I use it since the P&G version 2.0 was realised and I think that everybody should use it, or at least try it!
Give it a try, but if you want to apply it don't forget to make a backup of your original .PLR, in case you feel worst than without FFPatch.

You can also run the ffb patch from here: start - programs - power&glory - Launch PnG patcher

Don't quote me, but I believe the patcher creates its own backup of your current file, so if you don't like it, just run the patcher again & it will return to your old settings from the backup it created.

I use it & PnG feels awesome to me. 8)

i think a target time would be practical and beneficial for this track. I've tried a variety of cars and can do anything from 2:07s to 2:14's..thats a 7 second a lap window (for those who's maths is worse than mine  ;) )

It would be easy for me or anyone to pick the fastest of the batch but we want a close race not a stretched out procession. So what should we aim at for a benchmark? 2:11's and pick a car that can achieve that? or do we stick with the free for all?

Anybody wants some close racing Mark, but the rules were written long time ago, and I think that the choice should be free for everybody, it's only in that way we can judge if Legzy work out a good solution with Tokens!
I was one of the supporters of a time limit, but this way was abandoned, and one day before the last race I think that would be unfair changing the rules...

Well I settled on the Cobra Coupe (not "W") in the end. I've really struggled to get around T4(?), it's the 2nd right of the squiggles.
2:11.4 is the best I've managed, but confident I can take a second out of that with a good clean lap

From what I've seen on the server, we're possibly going to have two groups of drivers. One doing 2:08's (including Lele our Championship leader :o) & a group like me closer to 2:11's.

Should be a good race :)

Always supposing that I can stay out of the gravel.

I will be doing my level best not to hit anyone but if you are behind a Cobra289 Coupe (No4) on the grid then it may not make that impressive a start.  I have no clutch pedal so will just be selecting 1st when the lights go green and flooring it.

Naa I wouldn't bother, just get away cleanly. I either forget to put it in first gear before the lights or the guy in front gets way verrryyy slowly  :-[

I've still not decided what to drive tonight, I wanted to drive something different so was going to try the L88, but finding it frustrating to drive, so may fall back on the Cobra 289 (W). I did try the 350GT (CASC) but I was only lapping 2:15's.

I presume that the clutch release from a button will be quicker than the treacle filled gearbox finding 1st gear?

That’s what I usually do too.

Have you tried the EType?  Nice to drive but not as quick as a Cobra.  I cant figure it myself.  The E-Type is quicker on the straight and turns better but is slower than the Cobra over a lap.

You've got the idea perfectly. It's the final race of the season & the title is up for grabs, but as long as the server is not 100% full (which it wasn't at the last couple of races), it will be great to have you with us ;)

I suggest you pick a car from the available list  (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6863.msg119430#msg119430) that you're going to be able to lap at about 2:10 pace (don't quote me on that :D) & you should have a fun race hopefully. The download link for the track is also available in the first post of the thread.

Do shout up if you have any problems & we'll try to help out.

I can only think that the Cobra accelerates better. I was on the server last night with the 275GTB & was left for dead by the Corvettes but the 275 does 147mph on the straight, compared to the Cobra which I can only get to 141!

Cobra has much more power to weight, so should accelerate quicker. Lower weight also means it should have an advantage cornering and braking, although tyres are a big factor in this.

Might give y'all some problems tonight.  I got my new 24 in Widescreen monitor this afternoon and it feels weird - at least I've no longer got a blind side to lose cars in.  It just feels odd trying to get the turn in right with a much wider field of view.

On the positive side I don't seem to have lost as much frame rate as I expected.  Been running 3DMark 06 for consistent results and I now have 16500 3DMarks in 1920 x 1080 as opposed to 17500 in 1280 x 1024 both with everything maxed.

Great last round race to finish off a superb first season of P&G  :thumbup1:

Qually was a close fought session right to the end with people swapping places all the time. I couldnt believe it when i did my fastest pB in the Z06 and still dropped to about 12th in the grid with a mid 1:10 :o  :( Guttingly i was 6/10ths up on a lap at end with only a few corners to go and the session ended  :taz:

Race start was brilliant with all manner of US muscle cars steaming upto turn 1. I gained 4 places before T2/3 and was in a close battle with Paul and a few others for the first lap or so with several place swaps.
The top 7 slowly but surely pulled away as for some reason my laptimes dropped 2-3 secs and could only put in 2:12's and 13's  ???
Kept my 8th place for the entire race, fending off several tough challenges from Clive and a couple of others. But grunt counted and i eventually got caught and passed by some fast beasts.
The race end was nearly so frustrating as 3 cars all caught me on the very last lap and i faced the prospect of dropping outside the top 10 for first time in 18 laps  :(
Fortunately for me in the ensuing 4 car battle, Tim ran wide on the penultimate corner and lost his momentum for that superb sweeping right banked corner, allowing me to nip back past and grab 9th or 10th? yeehaw !!  8)

I could have run much higher if i had taken the cobra or the Shelby GT350, and maybe i should have seeing top 6 pace  :-\ but the z06 was a blast.  :)

Great fun, great mix of cars, great track and good clean racing  :thumbup2:

That was hard work.... spent most of the race to-ing and fro-ing behind PR, mostly fro-ing it has to be said   :)
I'd catch a bit in the 1st twisty section, he'd romp away in the 2nd half, he spun under power onto the back straight
and I got past, woohoo, however it's hard to keep someone behind who's lapping 2 secs quicker, and
on the LAST LAP  :o with his extra 10mph or so he sailed past on the straight, gave him some fight into the final turn
and finished .6 secs behind  ;D

I'm feeling a bit gutted after my 1st race. I had 3rd all locked up in the Z06 with 3 laps to go and 11 seconds in hand over Manteos and then the computer froze up. I was leading the 6 token cars too. I've never had issues with P&G and today, I locked up in qualifing and the race. This is the 1st time I've joined a race over the Atlantic so maybe that has something to do with the instability. Oh well. At least I know I'm on pace with the other drivers here. I must say this group is faster than other groups I've raced with. Clearly a respectful group of guys too.
I would have liked to battle with lele more. I never got the chance as he went off on the long right before the hairpin shortly after I passed Manteos. Maybe next time...

Felt in the need for some racing tonight so downloaded the track and got it installed and tested just before 8. Joined and did some laps in the Alfa GTA before I was pursuaded in to the Alfa Romeo GTA Volumetrico. Went a couple of seconds quicker and then discovered I needed to change the final gear ration to get longer gearing rather than changing the cogs  :-[

Trouble was my stupid ADSL reset just after the 1st lap so no race really :( Reset 3 times since then, it's having one of those nights  >:(

Not so much things to say about my race...
Good qualif time, that let me start in 7 th position, and after a really good start in which I gained the 4th position, I had to give up lap after lap to Mike Miller & Paul, that was a bit faster on the pace with the Z06. I finished in 4th position with a thrilling final lap with API, that has made a great come back during the final laps when my tyres get worned, and he finished back to me only for a half second... After the finish line, I've done 200 meters in a wrong way, and the game decided to DQ me :(, even if the race was finished... It was never happened to me yet!
Unfortunately, Lele lost the control of his car at the 3rd lap throwing to the wind an easy win of the drivers championship, but it will be for the next time!
Grats to Paul for the championship victory with his regularity on placings, very good driving man! Thanks to all the other drivers that joined the races in this fantastic league! As ever, it's always a pleasure to race with you guys... hope to see you soon for the next season or for some fun event with P&G!!!
However for the 2nd time I've to thanks my few but good VDA mates that followed me til the end of the champ, and even for this timedemonstrated that the VDA got a good skill with the P&G mod, winning again the team championship   :jumpjoy: :punk: :punk:!!!
    Cheers guys!!!

    That was a fun race!

I dashed back from work for the race, grabbed a bite to eat, just in time for qually, but I didn't get a good time on the board.

The race was great  ;D lots of close racing with Jonzo, Clive, Geoffers and a few others. It was tough in the Cobra, if you get the esses wrong you have to back off to avoid the polos & you're letting others have a chance to get the inside line at the hairpin.

It was a manic last lap, both MJ and I had a poor exit onto the back straight letting Geoffers past, I tried to go a little wide to get the inside line to the last turn but slid off into the gravel gifting my place back to MJ  ::)

Thanks Legzy & Wilts Tony for organising everything!  :thumbup2:

    God fun that!

Strange start, I had a good one but only saw about 3 cars in front of me until I rammed someone up the rear!
No obvious damage for both cars? so continued, the rest of the cars then immediately appeared! Very Strange!

Had good fun making up the 4 places I lost at the start and then was closing on those in front..
Eventually got past my team mate API, but had to work really hard to keep in front of him, eventually my tyres were really starting to complain, just like the last race
and I could hold him off no longer! :)
Gutted to see Wiltshite Tony catching me big time over the last 3 laps, knew it was going to be close but as he caught me under the same situation in one of our previous races I really didn't want it to happen again! :) A big lung into the last corner didn't work out and I strapped o=ver the line for, I thought 6th!?
but results show 5th! Not complaining!

Big Thanks to Legzy and Wiltshire Tony for an excellent first season with PnG, I think we have all learned a lot and really enjoyed it!
I think the racing has been great particularly in the last 4 races, roll on Season 2 !

Thanks all, wouldn't have been the same without the rest of you!

What a fantastic introduction to PnG, never a dull moment and looking at the graph I reckon our group had the most fun.

Couldn’t get anywhere near my best in qually due to traffic and finally ended up 6th, I think.

At the start I followed Geoffer’s suggestion and programmed a button  on my wheel for the clutch.  Worked a treat but, just as Tim predicted, the white car in front didn’t move.  This ended up with an exchange of paint with the red car behind.

Was well and truly mugged through the first two corners and ended up about twelfth.

Then I discovered that the Cobra 289 Coupe, whilst being good over a lap, was just about the slowest thing on the straight.  Think I might had been better off with the Jag but you live and learn.

I then had a marvellous time trying to reclaim the places that I had lost. But not before Legzy  had passed me with a neat slipstreaming move down the straight.  And I seem to remember something that looked like a silver aircraft carrier doing the same thing to me on the previous lap.

Had a good scrap with Legzy and finally passed him when he made an error at T8.

I think that I was then trying to pass Mark for a few laps but he was so quick down the straight that even if I got my nose in front he just came back past.  Finally I messed up at T4 and only just missed the concrete tyres at T5.

That allowed a clutch of red things past.  I think that one must have been W-Tony and the others were Tim and Geoffers.  We had a really good battle and again I found my car was a slug on the straight.  I managed to pass Tim eventually with a move that seemed to last from T4 to T8 and thankfully this brought me up behind Mark again just as he went wide at the complex before the main straight.  I think that made me 8th but that seems to have been converted to 7th by PnG having a go at Manteos.  That’s a bit harsh.

I think that I must owe an apology to Geoffers for a shoulder barge at the start of the straight when I was concentrating on Tim in front of me.  Sorry about that Geoffers.

Grats to Paul on his championship win and thanks to Tony and Legzy for their efforts in running the race.

    More please!

Great race to conclude a wonderful first season of PnG.

I chose the fezza because it seemed to offer the most potential fun for me. It was quick enough in a straight line and had good agility through the corners which I reckoned would give me some good racing. This paid off in the early laps and I was able to gain some places through taking different lines to the heavy metal brigade. As the race went on I was soon reeled in and was unable to get close enough to threaten the pack ahead of me: Matt, Tim, Clive and Geoffers. The rest of the race was a bit lonely except towards the end of the race, when Tony seemed to appear from nowhere and left me standing. I then had a couple of entertaining laps with a recovering Keith who I think was unsure if he should unlap himself or not :) to keep me interested to the end.

Thanks for all the hard work put into organising this and I look forward to the next season :thumbup2:

Another good race for me, even though I wasn't expecting much. The Z06 was a no brainer with only 6 tokens to play with, and most of my rivals took the same. Lele was clearly on the pace, as was Manteos, but Matt in his L72 was always going to start from pole. I ended up 4th behind Matt, but for some reason he had an awful start (didn't move) which completely killed my start (and caught Blunder out too I think. The first few laps were great fun fighting back from 11th, and somehow the train managed to avoid a huge smash in the esses. In the end I was up to 5th and chasing down Manteos when I saw that Lazlow had retired (really unlucky m8  :() and also saw Lele slide wide at the 2nd slow right. The next time I saw him was in the pits where he showed as 21st, so both the drivers ahead of me in the championship were effectively out - I just needed 11 points more than them to win. Had a good little battle with Manteos, although I did give him a friendly punt up the exhausts at the last corner when I misjudged his early braking - sorry about that  :( We both survived intact though and I passed him a lap or so later. The rest was a run to finish chasing a very quick Mike Miller. I might have just about kept up with you Mike but there was no need to take risks and I had the feeling I'd be visiting the polos if I did. In the end I was gifted 3rd when Mike's PC hung near the end  - very unlucky in your first race after such a strong run.

Congrats to PR and Matt, who were miles quicker than our Z06s. Slightly embarrased to take the championship when Lele and Lazlow looked odds on to beat me, but it's nice to have a (virtual) trophy for a change. Big thx to Legzy and Tony for organising everything - really great racing all season with a good mix of drivers all in contention right to the end.  :thumbup1:

Thx Paul :). I'm very happy to have brought here a lot of VDA guys, but unfortunately most of them got a fake internet connection, particularly Ayrton that since this summer has no chances to have a stable connection :(.
I'm sure that the VDA team will race again in the next season of P&G champ, because there are a lot of users in VDA that likes so much this awesome mod, and racing with you it's always funny!
From January I'll have some troubles to race on Tuesdays, because will start the GTRItalia champ, in which I'm engaged with my Teammate Gavino (Ayrton) and we'll race every 2 weeks just on tuesday :(... However I'm just thinking that in that case I have the solution, and surely I'll find a new TM possibly with a good knowledge of english (maybe King could be the man  ), to take my place in case of coincidence of events, but I hope sincerly I won't need it :)
News about Season 2 of P&G?!?

Thanks Tony and Legzy for an excellent series, being one of the slower drivers (it's my age y'know) I really appreciate the voucher idea.  It gives me a chance to race against people who would normally be miles ahead of me.  Last night I had a good start and avoided all the accidents but then screwed up on Lap 5, accelerated too hard/early and went onto the grass and then accelerated too late on a corner and ran wide.  I lost about 20 secs I think and let Bully by.  I chased him for number of laps just about holding a 7.5 sec deficit, then slowly started to reel him in as his tyres wore, eventually driving past him on the inside in one of the long fast corners and gradually drew away.  Great fun.

Congratuations to my  Kerb Crawlers Boss, Paul as the individual champion and VDA as the team champions.

Looking forward to Le Mans next week.

    Race (pre-crash)>
Had a slow start...got myself boxed in and dropped a few places...no big deal, i knew had the pace of some of the cars in front of me. Next lap i set myself a race target of reeling in API's 'CASC' GT350R.  However this wasn’t to happen  :'(  One of the dudes up front must of made a mistake - and rejoined the track reversing onto the race line & into me! (it was a real D'Derby PS1 flash-backmoment for me). Luckily the engine managed to survive – and i limped back to pits for extensive repairs.

    Race (post-crash)
After that lengthy pit stop, it was foot down to:  a) unlap myself the best i could, and b) not come last.
Legzy and 57goldtop kept me entertained during the unlapping process  ;D
However i could only do so much during the remaining laps...plus the GT350R was moving around increasing more with tyre wear (still great to drive) – and didn’t wanna get too close to them concrete tyres! .
I managed to grab 15th position on the final corner   ;D  which was happy ending to race could have been so much better.

    Grats to the podium dudes!

Yeah, sorry about the poor start, my starts are usually poor, but that one was rubbish even by my standards
clicked into gear on the green light, and it eventually moved with some wheelspin I think, have not got around to making the
clutch work yet. I was pole until the dying moments of Qual, when PR put in one a few hundredths better  :'(
I found extra speed after joing the session, as although it was hardly flashing the rev limit, putting the final drive up one click
gave me 157 on the straight instead of 151.... I may have still been competitive, but no way would I have managed a 7 in qual.

I'd been looking forward to this one since before the season started & the track didn't let me down!  ;D

Had a good few laps attacking or fending off Clive & Keith particularly, but I managed to spin once & go off once (getting myself trapped under a stadium briefly ::) ;D)) which robbed me the chance of having what I think would have been a race long battle with GoldTop... Instead I spent the race knowing he was just round the next corner  :'(

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to thank all of you drivers that have stuck with it through our first PnG season(s), in what was a very "fluid" experiment season really. It's all you gentleman drivers that make the league work. There are some of you particularly that have put in a lot of effort to help me work out/correct things sometimes, your effort is much appreciated  :thumbup1:.
I do think we've managed to squeak out some most excellent races, along with a couple that just didn't quite work & with some in between. But I've certainly learnt lots along the way  ;) that can be used one way or the other next season.

I'll kick off discussions on "What SROUK Historic Racing does next?" on a separate thread ASAP.

Just finally I want to Congratulate Paul & Lele for being the Season One (parts a & b) Champions, PR, Lele, Jose & Blunder for completing the podium final standings. Another fantastic race, action from flag to flag.  ;D

Got a great start & went from 14th to 7th by T1, but this only lasted a lap as I lost it through the esses on lap 2 & was back to 14th!  ::). Thereafter most of the race was a great battle between Clive, Tim & me interspersed with Tony catching & passing all of us  :o. Towards the end we caught MJ & Clive & I managed to pass both Tim & MJ on the last lap thanks to both of them going to play in the sand.

Congrats to PR, Matt & Paul.

Congrats again to Paul for taking the championship & VDA for the teams win.

Finally a big thanks to Legzy & Tony & the others involved in creating this great series, can't wait for season 2  ;D

Congratulations to Paul on the championship win   :notworthy:

Congrats and hearty thanks to Legzy, Tony and Paul for all the hard work in putting this superb P&G championship together, its been great fun and we've all been able to use a great spread of cars to compete with on some great new tracks. The US track series worked really well.  :thumbup1:

    Onwards and upwards !!  :thumbup2:

when do the first official xmas Le Mans practise sessions start? Be good to organise a set time slot so that a fair few of us get on track together and can compare laptimes etc.  :)

Nice idea MJ, the server will be set to Le Mans after any other Tuesday fun events have happened, so you'll probably get at least a couple of weeks of it on the server & we'll sort out some sessions I'm certain ;D

So as not to get her in trouble her name shall remain a secret, but one of our female SROUK members just sent me this message about one of our drivers sadly missing the final PnG tokens race due to PC problems :(.

It was too funny not to share

"So after months of saving all his tokens to get a decent car for the final race.... he breaks his computer....hahahaha.... cant... breathe... hahahahahahahaha... must learn to be sympathetic!!!"

How about switching it over now?  ;)  its still got Riverside on it

Double 05 made its debut onto the fabled tarmac of Le Mans this eve for some tyre pressure testing and familiarity laps.

First lap time for you to aim at 4:13.043 in the GT40 Mk2. Early days though.

    What a track. 8)
