Title: Which Zandvoort?
Post by: Legzy on December 01, 2009, 02:25:38 PM +0000
Hi to all our Historic Racers,

I've been checking out some new tracks for us & I reached Zandvoort... which I really like :tt1:.

Trouble is I've found three possible versions to use that we have acquired permission to use here.

The best driving experience IMO is GPC Zandvoort'79:

But on my PC, the grass looks a bit funny :-\. Not a big deal to me, but I'd be interested in what other people think?

So before voting, please try out the GPC '79 version as a minimum ;)

The alternates:
Zandvoort 1967 (similar layout to the '79 version, just seems less fun to me)
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=5723

Zandvoort (a more modern version which is quite different, but is the same layout as we used in GTL a couple of months back)
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2074

So basically, if we choose to race at Zandvoort next season, would you be happy with GPC Zandvoort'79? If not, which other version would you prefer?

Cheers
Chris

GDC's home track!  ;D

Though call.

67 is a challenge to drive on but lacking graphics.
The 79 track is a bit wide and the corners are 'flattened' imho but this gives more options for racing.
Modern has the best quality but, PnG is historic racing.

So I went with Legzy/Chris' option

zaandvort 67 was the classic track that we used many times in GTL with great success. Me and Bernie used to test P&G at it as well and it was superb  8)

The old snetterton track is great in these cars too, another drift fest in the faster corners  :)

Just thought I'd restate what my concern is with GPCZandvoort79:
But on my PC, the grass looks a bit funny :-\. Not a big deal to me, but I'd be interested in what other people think?

So while I agree '67 is a good track MJ, the '79 one just excites me more. While overall, the most modern of the three is the 'best done'.
But people's thoughts on "GCP '79" are what I'm mostly after :)

Only tried the 79 one Legzy but I see why you wanted some comments!
Only tried a couple of laps but the up's and down's and off camber etc. are brilliant!
If the other tracks are 'flatter' then I would vote to use the hilly 79 version,
but may have to sit in the corner of a dark room after looking at that grass!
Will try the other 2 options if / when I get a minute!?

Any other comments guys... speak now or don't complain later!

 ;D

Does that mean that if we put a race on at Zanvoort '79, you would not join us that week because the Grass textures hurt your eyes PR?

Even if tarmac was red and the sky yellow, I would join you, it's always a huge pleasure racing
with the lads.  :D
