Title: UKGTL Season 8 Classic Endurance Re-visited - Zandvoort (GP) - Dec 17
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on December 09, 2009, 10:59:42 PM +0000
In case you have been hiding under a rock, there are GTL lobby problems. But.... all is not lost!

This is what I did to connect to the server:
1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

With that fix, there is no need to touch your host file (unless you've already changed it, then you would need to remove the GTL changes you did). If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

All members welcome.

Server: UKGTL Enduro
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
(5) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Don't know if I'll make it tonight.  Have had a PSU failure today - replacement fitted but had to reset computer to get it to work this evening which defaulted all the BIOS settings again.  Not performing as good as before - a bit stuttery, looks as though it may freeze up any time.

Switching off shortly - hope it'll fire up OK.

Here's hoping to see y'all for the race.

Bill

Blahh.  Had a cracking first two thirds with some great close scraps with numerous people (57Goldtop, PR, Matt Rowe and others).  Pitted too late around lap 24, came out 7th or 8th behind Legzy and got a random DQ after being caught up in Matt Rowe's half-spin at the first corner.  No idea why I got the DQ, no previous cut track warnings or stop/go's that I remember seeing.

Anyhow, great fun none the less.  Hard luck to Ade who was showing amazing pace and was certainly looking at a win - what happened mate?  I didn't catch it on TS.

Cheers, Ross.

Replay and results posted

Another great track guy's. Nice mix of cars too. Thought I'd try the Corvette for a change and quite enjoyed it. Well done Lazlow, the Enduromeister and congrats to pods.

Off for a long break now so I'll wish you all a happy holiday  :thumbup1:

Look out for more GTL in 2010 on Tuesday nights

Sorry, couldn't make it tonight due to sponging off customers down the pub festive client hospitality.

Look out for more GTL in 2010 on Tuesday nights

Will that be every Tuesday night or alternate ones? Just trying to plan my work schedule for next year.

Was better than my usual enduros, only got a bit mugged in the pits, had a good 1st half, did a Dave Gymer start and passed
several people on the way to tarzan, hounded Ade a bit for a couple of laps before his pace opened up a gap, then set about
fighting off mini attacks till I fell off in HugenHolzt...etc  got back on behind Legzy ot past somehow, can't remember how
came ou of the pits just behind him, had some good scraps played Shelby and Mini with Ross for a while until, as he said
he went over the inside kerb to give me lots of room during one of my "variable" direction braking attempts into T1
I saw you drop out shortly after, assumed you'd gone for stop go, as in one too many cut tracks, shame you got
shot with a DQ, it was a great tussle with your mini as the Jam between the two Daytona bread vans.

Last night my awfull E-Type setup and I must add, lack of skills, made me feel
as I was driving a Corvette (huge rear tyre wear was impressive and oversteering and bad braking).  ::)
The Minis were all over me on the slowest sections of the track, I only could breathe a bit
on the S/F straight, but there, The Shelbys were all over me... ;D
What I want to say is that last night's race was stunning. I was battling each lap with two
kind of different cars on the two kind of different layouts, superb!
Great fun with Ross, Matt for a while and with API and Goldtop for many laps.
All with big fairplay and great driving from them. Thanks and well done.  ;)
Unfortunately, I was not able to mantain the 3rd place on the last laps. But the fun was huge.
Congrats to Lazlow and to all finishers.

Cheers

Great racing from you in that Jag PR - too quick for me.

With only 14 on the grid, I was a little concerned... being an endurance, it might get a little lonely.

I couldn't have been more wrong ;D 8)

From T1 till about half way round the last lap, I barely had a second to myself. Had some great scraps with the Mini's, some great scraps with other Daytona's, PR & his Jag & the F275's too at times!

So pleased we did that one again, well chosen everyone that voted  :thumbup1:

Well done to Lazlow for getting the win here again, but very unlucky to Ade who I think probably would have got this one without technical issues :(

I did cock up the start completely mind you - was trying to type a good luck message (ie. hope you all crash) but didn't press the chat button first and ended up cutting my engine.  Lights went green just as I figured out which was the ignition key!  Doh!

One of my most enjoyable races to date. Decided to go with a different car this time, so chose the red Mini instead of the blue one :)

Qualied 2nd behind the wickedly quick Ade and got off the line ok only to be mugged in T1. Was caught out by others braking in T4 and went off putting me down to 7th or 8th ::)

Had a great drive back with some wonderful and totally clean side by side battles with Legzy, Matt, Ross and API then an epic tussle with Paulo which seemed to last forever. Great driving Paulo; I was always looking to get down the inside of the Jag, but you always kept it tight where it mattered and presented me with few opportunities. Finally a mistake a few laps from home and I was through and with a clear track was able to drive away for 3rd.

Bad luck Ade (don't know what happened) and well done to Lazlow and Tinman.

Great to hear that GTL will have a regular Tuesday spot. I think it always provides excellent racing despite looking a little creaky in places compared with PnG. Long may it continue 8)

Great fun folks - with all the talk of a different version with day glow grass I was concerned.  Once I found it was virtually a rerun of our previous race, I was happy until my PSU went t*ts up.  Luckily I managed to get my computer setup OK for the race.

Set a new PB qualifying and just beat that in the race - have to look at the replay later.  Made a good start and avoided the early incidents.  Near half distance Tony caught me up and we had a little battle until I was trying to decide pit strategy, as Tony's  tyres seemed to  past their best, missed a gear change and went off into the kitty litter.  Pitted after Tony - all went smoothly and I found I was 17 sec down on the car in front.  I drove as hard as I could and slowly caught up to him - Alex.  We had a few close laps with me gaining or overtaking on the windy bits and him pulling away/overtaking  on the faster sections.  Eventually I managed to get by in T1 or just after and managed to pull out sufficient to be able to stay in the lead into T1 and slowly pulled away catching up Tony.  I could see him on the slower sections but ran out of time.

Thanks Tony and Legzy for a good choice of revisit.

Bill

Legzy please lets ban the red Mini... :P

Lol Ross, I know what you feel, I had a similar situation last GTR2 race at Brno.  ;D

BTW......long live to GTL!  :D
