Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=227)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph.

Thanks to Tony, Legzy and Chris (from MARA) for allowing this to happen :)

As its says on the tin, its a challenge to you UKPnG folk from us folk at MARA. It will follow the format that we use over there, with some success, where all gents supply their three cars of choice and are allocated a car based on their speed. The MARA choices are the ones we use there so, if you want to take part, pm me your choices and you'll get the one that provides you, hopefully, with close racing and most fun. Its strictly on a first come first served basis and about 12 team members are needed from here. Like here, MARA is very much mixed racing so gents of all speeds are welcome.

You'll notice that track/cars are much the same as "real" race the night after so you gents can use this as pracci :)

1st Volunteer from UKPnG is someone called Legzy and on that basis MARA has been made odds on favourites with the bookies, for some reason ;)

Are you sure that the 350 will fit through the chicane?

...............You haven't signed up yet Clive............................

Not sure if I'm worthy of such an honour.  :notworthy:

My GPL experience of Goodwood is not good.  I know that, in reality, Goodwood is Glorious but in GPL it's a frustrating place to race, with no proper straight and nowhere to overtake.  If you keep an alien bottled up for any length of time it is almost certain that he will ram you at the chicane.  It's a good place to drive if you have it all to yourself.

So, I will have to download the track and try out the cars to see how much humiliation this is going to involve in PnG space.  ;D

Hi Fulvio, have a hankering for the Ferrari myself.  Something that steers could be my choice and that usually means it has to be built this side of the Atlantic.  ;D

EDIT:  Just tried the E-Type and Cobra 289 during lunch and the Cobra wins.

Hehe Clive, you're right, the GT350 needs some practice and brave to setup it for throttle steering  ;D

MARA...  ??? ??? ??? Is she a beautiful girl?  ::)
I'm afraid I haven't understand so much about this race announcement :(
Can I join this event, even with some VDA mate?!? If yes, I'll pm you soon to reserve 1 or more place in this event... even if I need to know who is MARA... or I'll become crazy! ;D
Good to see another Italian driver here :), and if in this event it's involved the "Team 7", one of the most respectable in the Italian OR, I'm sure that this event will be at the same time serious & fun!
Waiting for your answer, I thank you in advance :)
Cu & Ciao a Fulvio!

First off, you and our other VDA friends are very welcome to join Manteos :) To take part, pm me your three favourite cars out of the list available and I'll assign you one of them based on your speed (to give you an idea of what that might be, the fastest MARA gents will be in a Jag/250 and I'll be in the 350 CASC). Ideally all the VDA gents interested would do that or I could give them a car based on thier pace alone?

MARA is short for Middle Age Racing Club, its another league in other words. With the same good attitudes as used here.

Think we have room for 5 or 6 more from UKPnG so get in their quick. You in Clive?  :)

Thanx for your fast reply Ian :). I'll let you know as soon as possible mine 3 favourite cars, and if someone of VDA mates will let me know his attendance before the places will be finished, I'll tell it to you soon!

If I select three cars of choice then they are all going to be quick ones, say at a guess, Daytona, Cobra, GT350.

How does that enable you to allocate a car for "close racing"?

My E-Type was about a 1:30 dead and the 289 came in at 1:28.9 but that is based on about 30 minutes of each.

The chicane looks wider in these beasts?????

Quite simply, the faster gents will be in slower cars and visa versa Clive. Its not gonna be perfect but its should be closer and more fun I believe. Perhaps a rematch using UKPnG format would be an idea?

For my notes, as much as yours, the teams (so far) are

MARA                                                         UKPnG

Mark C                                                                Legzy (capt.)
Ian C (capt.)                                                        Ade
Koit                                                                    Mark J
Shaun                                                                 Clive Loynes
Chris                                                                    Mike Miller
Paul H (a floater)                                                     Tim Robey
Aris                                                                     Manteos
Fulvio                                                                  lentolo
Manos                                                                 goldtop
Vincenzo                                                              Bill T
Giuseppe Reali                                                       Paul H
Marco Casadei
Danilo Boselli

So four more gents for UKPnG needed please  :) That said, people are bound to pull out nearer the time so reserves will be welcomed. Car choices shortly.

Paul, seeing by the names of MARA team, they don't need your help, come with us, and leave some of these Italian Rockets alone! I know them very well, because I'm engaged in the Racing On The Web P&G championship with some of them...
We need a help by some fast guys, considering that Ian and Paul cheated your comunity... hihiihih :). I'm trying to persuade Ayrton to have another Italian Rocket on the Track on UKPnG side... He should be surely helpful!
Seems that in MARA I know a lot of people... but I never heard nothing about that... however it's a nice surprise to run against these fast guys!
Come back home Paul!!!

Indeed, there are some very fast gents in MARA team but its just like here, with a good mix in reality. There should be battles throughout the field or I'd have failed.

As I've not sorted the cars yet, you may well just get Paul and his Healey ;)

Just looking for one more gent now  :)

How come they get a L72 Coupe?

Here you go Tony :)
It will follow the format that we use over there, with some success, where all gents supply their three cars of choice and are allocated a car based on their speed.
Pick three cars from the list you'd enjoy & SBG will do the rest.

The only car that I have found to be reasonable so far is the 289 Coupe.

I will try to sort some others out but I don't have the time to do that whilst I am struggling to come to terms with Legzy's Thursday Goat Track.

We seem to have cornered the market in Cobras.  MARA don't have any.  Is there something we should know?

Talking of something we should know, how is the team result to be determined?

You'll be running near the front with that PR, which is fine by me. MARAs Fulvio is now in the Cobra Roadster and that should provide you and Clive with some fun :)

Driver list updated.

As regards team scoring, it will have to be worked out manually but you can trust me ;) Its only a bit of fun of course, but be prepared to be slaughtered if I win  :)

Not sure what cars Legzy had planned for the following night but I hope this event isn't disruptive, as we are all keen to do well in S2  :) If people want to change cars following that announcement that probably be fine.

sorry chaps... Am running round all over the place at the moment. I'll get the exact race details posted by tomorrow, but it will be very similar to this inter race.  :)

26.9 in my 289 Coupe but how do I get any temperature into the front right?

I've tried some time trial laps, where you start with nice warm tyres, and the front seems much more connected.  After a couple of laps it drops back to "blue" and the steering goes vauge again.

Thanks for the encouragement fellas!

I've done a fair number of 27.0xx efforts but only the one that's ducked under the 27 barrier.  And we all know that the odd fast lap doesn't make a race.

I did a spell on the server last night and I would say that I'm the least of your worries.  ;D

crikey that is quick Clive, now i feel deflated about my 28 times  :-[ i thought that was reasonably quick, compared to my pb's ive set in other cars here  ???
Have only done a handful of laps so might be able to creep into the 27's with more laps. :)

Hi Mark,
Your Roadster was rated as a Legzy Dollar cheaper than the Coupe so I'm guessing it must be a tad slower.

It is is usually & will likely be here. But on a twisty track the roadster comes into its own.

I also keep checking back to the Legzy Dollar list, to get a 'in a glance' idea of how the cars are likely to be. :)

Some interesting and fun exchanges of paint, door handles and hub caps with Keith last night.

Could do with a "secret team test session" to get used to some heavy traffic.

What's the matter about my avatar?!? Are you a German supporter of the Mercedes GP (ex Brown GP) or a Michael Schumacher fan?!?!
I was a Schumacher fan til he spit in the dish in which he used to eat for years... Than I have to spit on his face if I'll meet him... even if it will never happen again...
I really dislike his politics of promising eternal love to his "Italian family Ferrari", and instead he escaped to his mothertongue ugly sounds...
I just forgot a person like this... he never deserved at all the Italians love...
I really hope for a great DEFEAT about his season in 2010... and I hope that Alonso will push him into the wall causing him some other troubles to his German neck... possibly during the first Gp...
You'll never welcome again in Italy... German mercenary... you'll have to eat your loved Wurstel and sauerkraut for the rest of your life!

P.S. Obviously my avatar is more ironic than the words I used vs Mr. Schumacher, in which I strongly believe!...

in practice sessions with race fuel.

I'm finding it very easy to make a small mistake and suddenly find that my lap is half a second slower than I thought it would be.  And I can do a couple of those a lap as well!  ;D

Yes to small mistakes costing big time. "If" I get all the turns right, and manage to do the 2nd turn without lifting
(one in 3 attempts) I can get nice times, but I only need to miss the apex for T2 slightly and I have to lift
or I'm into the wall, that alone steals a second.

I'm sure again that Million Dollar Man Schumacher knows less word than Mark Jonzo in Italian, even if MJ probably didn't earn 40 millions Euro for season in about 10 years...

From where I sat that was a blast. Cheers to MJ, Legzy and Clive for some great fun. Particularly MJ for playing it in the right manner (Legzy was trying to hard I thought ;)). Congrats to Mike for rather kicking my butt tonight.

Saw the odd incident, but I'm sure it was approached in the right manner by both teams. Remember, it happens. Thx all for attending and maybe we can do that again :)

Was expecting to be somewhere in the vanguard, but was not expecting the Daytona to be so dominant, particularly
with me driving it. Was also expecting to get mugged at the start with my usual rubbish starts, and that didn't happen
Either people were being super polite or others made even worse starts, managed to slowly grow a gap to 2nd place
except for a couple of minor offs, just tried to be fast enough and manage the tyres.

I love Goodwood, though I never seem to get the 1st turn quite right, and umm the 2nd turn isn't too great.... etc...

SO, tommorow will be a field of Daytonas then?

Thanks for organising such a great event between clubs Ian. Top stuff.  8)

p.s
There is no flag, the lights - red then green, are to the left at the front.

Good fun on a very difficult track to master. I still haven't figured out all the corners. I threw it off at Woodcote 3 times. If I hadn't done so, 4th would have been mine. Part of me is actually happy I threw it away because that gave me the opportunity to battle with Clive, Paul and Matt. The Z06 was clearly out classed, but it was quick enough to pester the others. Paul executed a beautiful pass entering the front straight from the chicane using a lapper as a pick. Nice move Paul!

I didn't see any lights at all and had to use the timer in upper right to go. If there aren't any lights, bad things happen. Check for tomorrows race. If no lights then maybe a manual rolling start would be best.

Aris (sp?) had trouble at St. Mary's on the first lap. Wish he would have hung in their as I wanted to battle him. He was .15 quicker than me in quali I think.

I enjoyed the race. Thanks for orgainizing Ian. Would love to do another in the future. Next time make it in my back yard.... Lime Rock. I think you guys had some added track knowledge that helped keep me at bay.

The lights are on the left side near the first row.

Don't know very well why, I found myself at 2nd place on the first corner.
Clearly, Matt was faster, maybe half a second for the first laps than me.
By lap 3 we had a confortable almost 3 seconds gap for the 3rd place driver.
Then, my silly mistakes began!  ::)
First mistake, lost a place. Second mistake, I rejoin track in 7th. Third mistake, I fall into 11th.  ;D
Get my concentration back and tried to recover as much as I could.
Brilliant close - and I mean close - fight with Mike for several laps and with Mark for the last
four or five laps. I was so confident driving so close because you both have drove so well
and perfectly.  :)
At the end I managed to finished just where I sarted race. Good fun and intense race.
Thanks for organizing this event Ian.

Congrats on your win Matt and well done to podium and all finishers.

Cheers

that was good old fashioned fun at a great old circuit. 8)

Like most, i was staring at the wrong set of lights on race start and didnt budge until other cars around me careened past. It all stayed clean despite the gaggles of cars on the early laps.
Soon found myself upto 11th from my cruddy 16th qually slot, then gradually upto 8th where i enjoyed a long battle with Ians Z06. That was great fun and cars seemed evenly matched throughout a lap but once i got past i pulled out a decent gap of a few seconds.
Thought a safe 8th was on the cards to the finish but came across a backmarker in another Cobra who either didnt use his mirrors or lifted in panic in the middle of the fastest corner at Goodwood :o i hit him up the jacksey and the car slid off and clumped a barrier giving me suspension damage and losing 4 places  ::) Then chased after Ade and a MARA italian, getting by both for 10th, only to run wide on the final blinking corner allowing Ade back past to the finish line...D'oh !!
T'was a good race, with some good battles, only mildly let down by a couple of backmarkers not doing the decent thing, but not an easy track to get off-line on. :)

Many thx Ian for organizing the event and UKPnG to host.
Great race for me, I love Goodwood and when I race  there I have good memories of my trip at Goodwood Revival in 2002  :)
I had set the Cobra to get the max oversteer to exit at full power from T1 and Lavant and get T2 (Ford?) at full throttle.
At the very last second of qually I got second place on the grid advancing from 6th till there. There was only one sec. between 2nd and 11th on the grid too, good hopes for great fights.
At the start I couldn't see the lights and someone in TS told me that there was a flagman on the right so I started with the clutch buttons pressed with right thumb and the left thumb on the right view button to be able to see the damned flagman, that eventually never dropped the flag, and a look at the Hud timer  :o
In the end I started when I saw Matt on my right side starting so all my row got caught by my slow start, sorry.
Later I found in my replay that the only one light on the left it was exactly hidden by the left frame of my windscreen and I couldn't have seen it in any way
Paulo's white Cobra was the quicker at start so I had to defend my third spot from the rear pack with Matt already flight away in his red Daytona. Stunning pace bud, congrats  :)
Later Paulo spun at Lavant and I got second place with Giuseppe roaring a couple seconds behind.
After a couple of small mistakes at the chicane Giuseppe was on my neck and managed to slipstream me and pass on the run to StMary. The gap remained for the rest of the race inside 3 sec. and during the last five laps I managed to short it to one sec, but not enough to try a move on Giuseppe. Nice driving!
I saw in replay that there was  a lot of battles  also for 4-5, 6-7 and 8-9 for most of the race, so no boring race for the most of people.
I saw also a black Cobra coupe running well  ;)
Ciao

Thanks to Ian for organizing that great event.
And apologies to Mark, that lift off was well-meant but poorly timed :(

LOL

The black cobra managed to get within 10seconds of you before he blew it.

I had been really depressed in qualifying as I could not break the 1:28 barrier no matter what I did.  With about six minutes to go I realised that I was running on race fuel load.  Just had time to do one proper run after getting the tyres up to temperature.

At the start I was watching the pit exit lights until enough people had run into me to convince me that I should move.

The race was a blast, although exactly who I was fighting  at the start I had no idea.  On lap one, one of those big silver beasts had a go at me at St Mary’s but I was able to retake the place on the exit.  The next lap, I think, two of the MARA cars hit each other at St Mary’s and that was a couple of places gained. St Mary’s and the last corner before the chicane seemed to be the places where the big beasts were having the most problems and I was able to gain places.

I made it through to 4th when MarkC rattled both sides of the chicane and I think that you were 10sec up the road at that point.  In pushing to reduce the 10sec I ran wide at Madgwick and let Mark back through.  I also had an untidy lap which allowed the fast recovering Paulo past.  I just managed to stay in front of Mike and was setting about getting back onto the tail of Paulo and MarkC when all the names on the HUD started changing to blue cos the race was over.  Could have done with it being longer.

I did much the same as you did with the setup but did chicken out at Fordwater more often than not.

Now tonight’s Daytona is another matter!  Plenty of turn in that beast!

I've managed to add the scores up, using the present UKPnG scoring, and its a win for UKPnG >:( 117 to 101. I've always said it was an unfair system ;)

I think all at MARA enjoyed that so thanks again to Legzy, Chris and Tony for letting that happen. Seeing we came 2nd, we must do that again.

That is a shock! :o I anticipated us coming second, even if we blocked out the podium! ;)

That's good to hear. They're all welcome back anytime. :) (EDIT - we'll review that statement with regards Ian & Paul :-*)
