Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=227)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph.

Welcome to the UKPnG Season Two kick off.  :)

PnG will now be running on Thursday nights & will have two series that will alternate weeks. We start with week one of the Classic Cup, that will be run just like GTL has been run for the last few seasons (each week will be a different small group of roughly equal cars).

You'll notice that the line up for this season opener is identical to the inter-league race with MARA the night before, so any problems... blame SBG ;)

We were reminded in tonight's Inter-league race, that the starting lights are not easy to see here. They are quite low & on the left... you kind have have to know where they are to see them kind of thing :-\

With that in mind, I suggest you all make the HUD visible for the race start. When the lights have gone green, you'll notice the lap time counter start.

Look forward to seeing you all there :)

Found the start lights.

Just put in a better lap than my best yesterday.  I've come to the conclusion, that at least with the Jag and the way I drive, the car's on the limit and the slightest error gives me an off.  I guess I need wider tracks to give more tolerance for error.

Unfortunately I have no VDA guys available for the 1st race... Saidness...  :death: :death: It's a pity, but we have the other Italian P&G champ on Thursdays, and I think we'll gonna jump a lot of races... Maybe I'm going to retire the VDA team if I have no drivers for thursdays, and we will race only when we can... Makes no sense to have a team without drivers available every race... :(
Hope to see you soon in some free Thursdays... have fun guys :)

Cu :)

was thinking last night (dangerous i know ;D ) but shouldnt we be being a bit more restrictive in car 'year' choice for these championship races ?  At present we just say Z06 is available, for example, but there are 3 or 4 in there at 1963? and 1 at 1965 which is clearly faster, whereas the newest Jag E-type available is a '63 for any of them, and we all know how much development gets done in two years of motor racing and yet we have them able to race each other in one race. So shouldnt we therefore set a ceiling on the years available? That should make the racing closer as it will narrow down the margins of any car being that much quicker than the rest of the field.
Cant remember offhand, but are there several Shelby daytona coupe release years? That car was clearly faster than the rest of the Goodwood field last night....ban it ;)

I wont be removing any cars from the selection list MJ. I thought about removing some to make it a tighter group when I posted the race, but it would be unfair to ask people to prepare two separate cars for back to back nights. It's only one race & people are aware of which cars are faster & that if they pick the latest year, it'll probably have some advantage.

A tighter selection will be resumed next race. Hopefully. ;)

As I was the only one "lucky" enough to be allocated a Daytona last night, so might have more practice in it etc
"If" I am the only person with one for the race, I will use something else, even though I have had no setup time yet
in anything else. I suspect it will be quite popular though...

Aarhgg,

Missed the first race to technical failure  :'(

Just 45 minutes before race I had a problem with my G25 wheel and had a strange issue with the button assignment
Checked my settings of the wheel and somehow when I want to change a button (break, gas, clutch, whateven) and I click it with my mouse , the button is inmediately assigned to my left mouse button  >:( Click another button and that one is assigned to the left mouse button.

Started GTL , same problem. GTR2 also ........

Re-installed the drivers but no success. Does anyone has a clue where what the problem might be ?

Seems crystal clear to me.

Had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting the stationary car in front of me ::) Punted off track at the end of the 2nd lap and decided to call it a night.

Managed to get my 1st ever pole :jumpjoy:.... but with 5mins left, my game CTD'd :(
So was starting 3rd last after blowing my one flying lap I squeezed in.

Managed to get myself up to 5th & had been comfortably holding that when.... CTD :taz:

Loved driving the Daytona, I wanted to take it when we raced here nearly a year back, but I was too fast in it... so was nice to get the chance this time. Just gutted it was all cut short.

This was about the 3rd race in six that's happened to me too (once accross each of the sims GTR2/PnG/GTL) :'(

Hope the rest of you enjoyed it.

Good to see a pretty mixed grid, just seven Daytona's I think it was. Which isn't too bad for a 25 car grid.

I assume Ian will go on to win, so congrats to you mate... but I'm sure you know who was going to get that one (Paul knew it & bottled it) ;)

Don't think that was me, but I was relatively slow off the line & the person behind gave me some encouragement :-[... though I was away quicker then the person infront of me, who I avoided

Missed the first race to technical failure  :'(
Sorry you missed it Sandor :(

Very pleased with my first outing for over a month and with minimal practice in the Daytona I am very pleased in what I achieved.  :)

Had a cracking race with Mike and Ian, damn those GT's have good grip!  :o I was having to rag the Daytona like I stole it!

With a bit more familiarisation and praccy I could have made some setup changes but overall very happy!  ;D

Plus Ossie and myself are now on a different shift pattern for a while so hopefully more races can be forthcoming.  8)

Strange.. have you tried using the enter button 'open'th button selection? Will try tomorrow.

Great race. Could hold a reasonable pace and was entertained by several spinners  ;D

That was a tad more hectic than last night  ;D
Used same setup, but car felt very different, just the driver I guess. Maybe it's because I run race setup with full fuel
in qual, but 1st couple of laps I fell off 3 times trying to avoid people being cautious, where my car is just as it wasand was used to it. Got shoved towards the grass at T1, but stayed on the track, PR sneaked past, but was looking like a good race.
Had some tussles with Keith and Tinman, fell off avoiding Keith, and then tapped him next attempt
to get close, I waited and lost 3 more places so hopefully justice was seen to be done. Then it was catch Ade
touch the kerb in Lavant corner and spin, catch Ade touch kerb in Lavant, spin....etc... eventually he fell off in
Madgwick through laughing too much, and I slipped by for 5th. Good win SBG, and grats for pole Legz, you gotta fix
that "feature"

p.s
Clive and SImon.. where did you leave Colin?

A brilliantly fun return to P&G for me  ;D Missed the chance to take the L72 last time I took part (drove the even more wayward 250C instead at Westwood ::)) so it was the obvious choice for me.

Suprised myself in practice - the last time I saw the timings I'd manhandled it upto 9th! :o
In an even greater suprise I qualified there too  8)
Nearly missed the start as I'd forgotten how P&G/GTR2 works online but joined the grid just in time.
Good start but threw it all away when Corvette suprised me and I span in St Mary's. Luckily I ended up on the grass verge on the inside and don't think I involved anyone else beyond slowing the field a bit....

Fought my way back up the field, made the odd mistake, fought my way back up again and then found myself in a battle with Blunder - who'd repassed me while I was grasscutting.
Massive appologies for hitting you when you span in St. Marys, but didn't know which way your car would go and just didn't stop in time  :(

After this I had quite a fight with first Wiltshire Tony in the other remaining L72 (Great side-by-side battling there :) ) and then a longer Fight with Alex Vv in his 289 Cobra.

Having finally pulled clear of Alex I clung on and steadily pulled away only to be lapped by Ian with one lap to go  :hammer:

It's been a while so I hope I was driving cleanly/fairly in my tank  :ninja:

Congrats to the winners and finishers  :thumbup1:

If I knew you were on that pace I'd have bottled it as well  ;) Great pace there.

Sorry Tudor but that starting "feature" renders that track too dangerous to use (you might be glad to hear that :)) for me. I guess there are plenty of other good, safer, options to go with.

Worked my way back nicely after getting swamped at start. That got me past Matt, who played a classic bluff by saying "pit in" :), and, I thought, in a race long fight with Mike. He was all over me but I didn't push too hard in a bid to conserve me tyres and, more importantly, I am much better chasing rather than leading the way. Made a silly mistake and he was past but, sadly, he did the same a couple of laps later (I wanted to see his line through T1 were he had me well beaten), which left me with a comfortable-ish trip home. Think Mike had me beat (Legzy would have melted in 5 ;) ) in all honesty but I'll take it.

Nice to cyu again Matt and a good steady start for team KC. Lappees were great as that was undeniably tricky.

I finished 14th, first of the non-US muscle cars....whoo-frigin hoo  ::)  hats off to the other two non-US-muscle car glory hunter drivers on this great 'British' clubmens track  ;)
Whats next a tight twisty track surprisingly full of elans or alpines?, :whistling: cant wait  :surrender:

 :hammer:

bit of a contrast to the race last night. That one was all action, with a decent varied car grid. This one was a lone ranger, hope the yank cars fall off to give me some points/someone to race kind of affair.  :sleep1: come on people use some imagination. People moaned about the tokens then in the very first race of the new season show exactly why it was tried !

B'ah ! Disgruntled.

Bad luck Legzy getting CTD after a great qually lap & again in the race & congrats to Ginsters, Madd & PR  :thumbup1:

I have made a slighty change in the rear springs setup and got a feeling that the Cobra was a bit slower
than last Wednesday's race here.
However, as I haven't done a serious mistake (against my three last race), I was able to finish in the podium.
For a moment I thought I would have another intense fight with Mike, this time with him pressuring me.
Unfortunately a late brake and a fight with my wheel to avoid spining, allowed him to pass me. Last lap Mike spun allowing me to get the 3rd place.
At the opposite side from previous race here, this time was a bit lonely.
Congrats Ian and Madd. Well done to all finishers and thank you all backmarkers, great job you have done!

Cheers

Punted off track at the end of the 2nd lap and decided to call it a night.

Sorry, completely lost my line there after rejoining from an earlier excursion and missed the brake point. :( Didn't feel like continuing either after I saw you go off after that. Wasn't really comfortable with such a fast track and heavy cars, so little margin for error.

That was a nightmare  >:( I spent my time practicing with the Cobra 289 Coupe for Wednesday night, but after real life got in the way I had no time to try a better car combination.

I struggled to get the car to turn-in at the quicker corners, and my last minute setup tweaks didn't improve matters.

Sorry to Eddie for the tangle near the end of the race, the car decided it wasn't going to turn in, so we went wide and I didn't have that much control as we rejoined the tarmac :(

That damaged the suspension so I just brought the car home in one piece, last but one....

Things can only get better........  :D

I didn't prepare at all for this one and in the end, it showed. Sure I learned the track a bit for the interleague race, but clearly not enough. I can't count how many times I went off at Woodcote in the inter race. The same corner bit me again yesterday. This is a tough old track. I should be happy with 4th, but I was in position to win and rarely make mistakes like that. You got me this time Ian. Seems we've been doing a bit of a see-saw. I'm up next.

I got back from my morning meeting with clients in NYC just in time for end of practice only to be called by my kids for taxi service. Originally, I thougth everyone would be driving Shelby Daytona's so I joined with that. When I saw Ian and Ade in Mustangs, I switched to the Cobra coupe knowing I had setups for that car. While picking up the kids, I remembered I drove the CASC Mustang once at Hidden Valley and wanted to try to battle with Ian so I jumped in it at the last minuted in quali. I had 7 minutes to refine the setup and get a lap in. The only thing I realistically could change in that time was fuel and gearing so that is all I did. Luckily, I hit the gearing perfect, but the brake bias was far too much in the rear. The car was all over the place under braking. Couple that with my lack of track knowledge and braking points and I was all over the place. Sorry to Madd for screwing up one of your hot laps.

I found the start lights at the last second before the start. I only realized where they were once they started to glow red. With that, I got a good start gaining 1 position early. In short time, Madd, Ian and I made a break for it and battled together. Eventually, Madd made a mistake and left Ian and I to duke it out. Like he said earlier, we had a cracking battle for a number of laps. I remember bump drafting him a couple times. I think I was better in turn 1 because my setup wasn't optimal. Ian obviously had a setup that was engineered more for the long haul and mine was good early. In time, I burned down my left front so Ian's car must have been rotating more corner exit which could have comprimised his exit speed. The sore tire came back to bite me last lap when I pushed to hard and ran out of road in turn 1.

Like Ian said earlier, I too do better following than leading. I get an extra kick of adreniline and focus when chasing down someone. Another benefit here considering my lack of track knowledge was using Ian as a reminder to brake for corners. When he dropped 2 wheels coming onto the front straight, I knew I had him and just needed to keep it on the black stuff and I'd have a good shot at victory. It didn't last long though as I threw it away at Woodcote 2 laps later.

I didn't come home on the podium, but had a great fight with Ian and Madd, Sharing fast lap with Geoffers is a treat too. How did we get the same lap down to the thousandths?

I sympathise with phspok, what a difference a day can make.  I had it the other way around - rubbish on Wednesday and a good race here.  8)

Set a new PB in qualifying, still at the back of the grid.  Looking at the starting grid, I think it was me who was behind you legzy - my reactions aren't good enough.  ::) Had a good first few laps until my old sparing partner Dan gave me a tap - thanks for waiting.  ;D  After that we had a battle for a while, not always in view but the time between us see sawed for a while until you had some problem.

I had the line about right most of the race, the odd 2 wheels on the grass but definitely no corn cutting or bouncing along the wall.  :thumbup1: Main problems I had were due to trying to slow down or move off line to allow faster drivers to overtake - not taking to the grass to let you through Madd-RIP just lost momentum and understeered off.

Very nice season opener. After my poor display the night before I was determined to take the same car and do better. Which I did; I only left the tarmac once which for me at Goodwood is pretty remarkable. Good racing, some quality tussles, and a tap from someone who should know better all made it an evening to remember.

More like that please.  :thumbup1:

Quite a good fight! From what I could see a clean battle on the edge. Gave me enough racing room when I cut inside in the fast corners  :sweatdrop:
Eventually caught me in the weak spot on the straight. Could not match your speed in the open-top Cobra...

Things can only get better........  :D

That's the spirit! If it's some comfort, I think this is going to be my season's highlight.. Goodwood is a bit of SRou GTL hometrack and with 6 (?) races already run on this circuit in the past, I had a bit of an advantage  :whistling:

Probably join you Gentlemen Races next week again on the grid just in the front of the Medical Car...
