Title: UKGTL Season 9 Stock Car Challenge - LIME ROCK (no chicane) - Feb 9
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on January 24, 2010, 04:17:45 PM +0000
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Tuesday night ;)).

All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (80 mins)
Qualifying: RANDOM GRID
Race: 20:40 (30 laps = ~30 mins)

Track: Lime Rock Park (No Chicane) Download here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg81636#post_limerock)
Cars allowed: Shelby GT350, Ford Falcon Sprint, Ford Mustang

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: Standing
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: UKGTL SCC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=238&theme=5)
(5) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Are you intending to run just one 30 min race at these events Tony? Seems a bit short. How about 2 x 30 min races, back to back?

Would love to do this one, but I'll be in Chicago on business. Lime Rock is my home track (1 hour from home) and where I've done much of my club racing/track days. My avatar pic is my first from my first practice day at Lime Rock with my RX-7. Enjoy the race guys.

We probably will do that Phil. But the first race will be the "official one" then if folk want to hang around for another that's ok too.

"Stock Car Challenge" implies cars from that car pack, the server includes the Shelby cars from this pack but the "Cars allowed: Shelby GT350, Ford Falcon Sprint, Ford Mustang" are standard cars.  ???

Are we racing the standard cars in this race?

I believe the stock car pack is just an addition to the standard cars, so that we can use them in some of the races in the stock car challenge series. This particular race only features those cars listed at the top of this page, so I guess we'll be seeing the new cars as the series progresses.

Hope that makes sense :)

CAn't remember actually getting to race here, I remember practicin some for previous events, no idea what a
good lap is. I'm getting low 1:05s in the 350, 0.5 sec slower in the Falcon so far.

Can't get close to my Mini time in the 350. Mid 1.04 is the best I've managed so far.

Ta Phil. Yep I am now into the 4's 4:03 is best, and I seem to have found my pace at that. Can see where I
might go a bit quicker, but it's not happening.

Looks like it could be a 350 race.  Raced an Alfa here some time ago it went very well, better than the 350.  Had a battle with Ian in a Falcon but it was at the time that I had a single core CPU and Norton decided to cut in causing me to lag and ruined it all.

Starting to like these tanks more now and slowly working out how to drive them. The 350 is also quickest for me with my best laptimes around 1:04.7 when I get it right.

Sorry folks but I lost the line etc on that T1 combination and was lapped in no time.  Not an excuse for my exit but I have had a sore on the ball of my right foot which racing only makes worst - despite a thick thermal sock.  So I quit to save my foot for another day.

Bill

Ps my wife recons I should stop racing until it heals completely.

Well that was a strange one. Arrived at T1 only to realise that I had no ffb  :o Thought about quitting, but then everyone started to fall off/bump into each other/wave me past ;D and when I found myself in third, I reckoned my luck must have been in.

I was soon caught and passed, and settled into a steady pace, just hoping to finish and pick up a few points to carry forward. My luck returned on the last lap when Matt and Tony tangled which gifted me another position. On reflection, I maybe should have let Matt (Edit or was it Tibs)repass under the circumstances but I was a little too excited to think at the time. Feel free to change if I was out of order.

Dunno what happened with the ffb; I could feel the kerbs, but nothing else. When I returned for race 2 my ffb was rock hard and my digi cockpit laptimer was showing blank ???  I've redone my plr and everything seems ok now, but I'll see how it goes. Never had anything like this happen before, maybe time for a reinstall?

Grats to Paulo and the rest of the pody and all those who finished/took part - a shame there weren't a few more.

Hope your foot gets better soon Bill.

I guess this was one of those races that everything runs well.
Haven't done any mistake (which helped).
With a clear track in front while all of the guys were battling, allowed me to pull away
and finish with an unnatural gap for the 2nd position.
Congrats to all.
Hats off to Alex that made a pit stop and never quit race although been 2 laps down.  8)
Get well fast and well Bill.

Cheers.

Well I got that all wrong, but my eyes were on stalks at the time.

Had a look at the replay and it appears that Phil in 3rd lost it on the last lap and was unfortunately collected by Tibs in 4th which allowed me to take 2 positions. Think I'll go buy a lottery ticket now ;D

Miscalculated fuel so had to go for a splash and dash  :-[

Hope you can race soon again Bill.
Perhaps you can use auto-clutch or use your other foot to brake?
