Pit Stops: No mandatory pit stop.

Notes:
(1) Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3349.0) - especially the speed limiter starting procedure and the rules about in-game chat messages.
(2) Standings and schedule can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=231;theme=3)
(3) You will not be able to join the server without the car physics pack and track (see links above).
(4) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of everyone's connection will be reduced.
Please avoid using a WiFi connection; if we can tell you're on WiFi you will probably be asked to leave.
(5) Please use the Driver Details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=profile;sa=driver_info) page to ensure that the league management software has your correct GTR2 'Driving Name' (not necessarily the same as your lobby name).
(6) The server will be set to have 26 slots, not 28.

I had wanted to use the Daytona road course for this, but frankly the quality just isn't up to scratch. This track is a bit of an unknown quantity, but it should be good fun in the slower cars...

They actualy race on this bump-strewn track? ::) 1:33:3xx so far in F430. :)

Corrr, remember this track from the old sportscar mod for F1C, loved it then. Tried 1 lap in the radical in iR round here and scared me silly :o

Hmm.. Seems i was getting random track cutting warnings as i passed the start/finish line. I think it could be that if you go too near the track edge as it passes the end of the pits on the LH side. Though i never crossed the track width line it might be getting a bit confused. Also the tight righthander, the first Rh'er at the top of the first rise, the car gets thrown around with the back and front ends struggling for grip as though the track surface isnt uniform. Not sure how thats going to work when the tyres start wearing and losing grip.


Seems very low grip, and with some off camber corners, especially the one at the top of the hill, over the crest is going to be interesting.

How is it compared to the iRacing version?

I'm not trying to start a fight, just curious :)

Only did one lap in radical around here which put me off straight away. Drop your resolution and squint and it'll be about right ;D It just feels pretty 'coarse', the elevation changes could be smoother, there are sudden changes where the car get unsettled.

Rephrase: smooth surfaces also exist in minor extent. ;D

I'm having problems with this track online. First time I installed it I went outta pits the wrong way and the pc locked up on me. Restarted it and everytime I tried to reload an old setup, from another track, or try to go on track I get a CTD to desktop. Un-installed it and re-installed the track and its still CTD's when doing the same. Tried it in a couple of different cars with the same result. Maybe fault at my end of course, it seems to work fine offline, but I've not suffered anything like this before.

p.s. just noticed that when I join server I can't enter chat or move it onto next session even though I'm the only one there. If thats relevant.

Yep, definitely something wrong here. Tried a couple of times and no CTD, but game nothing happening when I click drive. Track works fine offline.

Yep, forgot about that, first time i followed the arrow and went left it locked up. But every time since i've gone right and had no problems.

I am having problems this this track on line too. :(

I cant click the drive option, its always red as if the session has ended. 1st time I tried I could not change any setup options either. It just had a white line going diagonally across the garage menu screen.

Tried a minute ago with a different car and could see change my setup options but still not able to click on race and join the track.

Seems to work fine off line.  ???

Most people would be familiar with Mid-Ohio or Barber or Laguna or Oulton or Snetterton (or even Monaco if you fancy no overtaking in a duel class race :laugh:).
Shame though, because Infineon is a fun track.

Yep, same as H@L here. Doesnt seem to register that i've joined the server, i dont appear in the list and have no setup options.

I reckon there could be a problem with the server. All these troubles here, plus the following problems at Monza with PnG:

Earlier myself and Clive both warping by 10 car lengths
Now when I try to join sbg and Clive, I get a waiting server message, followed by either a CTD or a booting off

Needs someone else to try PnG to confirm

Yep PnG server is playing up for all those that joined. Maybe Infineon is ok and the server just needs a kick :)

Infinion is not OK IMHO. I think the problem with the server was that someone exited the pits the wrong way while online. This crashes the local PC and the GTR2 Server Process :( The short track doesn't appear to have the same issue so I've left that running on the server for now.

That's to Spanner and Prof helping to test this out just now :)

Just to add to that, if you are placed on the 'wrong' side of the pits, the out arrow points in the wrong direction which may confuse some who have not practised before the fun race. That seems to crash not only the local machine badly but also the server. No such problems with the short track in our brief test.

Good plan, Batman. Event changed to Infineon Short, which I think corresponds to the "Cup" (i.e. NASCAR) version.

GT2 = 1:12 so far on the new short course.

Tis a bit more bumpy in a GTR2 car going up the hill then it was in the PnG cars I tested here! :sweatdrop:

Hi Cico, yes you're welcome to join us. The rules are the same as for our UKPnG except for the starting procedure, so make sure you check the rules on that.
Also, get these downloads & you should be ready :)

You might also want the GT2 & GT3 skinpacks or some cars will look funny.

I was too dumb to check the Fun Races thread until about now, I'll get cracking with some praccy after tea - I'll be able to test out my Ethernet cable and see if i get my random disconnects like I did with WiFi...fingers crossed!

I wanted to do this, but then other stuff came up including a stereo exploding!

Had a good quali by finally getting into the 1m10s on my final lap in the dying seconds :D

The race got off to a great start altho I think there was some confusion with the pole sitter?! Top 4 took off and I had a great battle with Lazlow... who was having a hard time getting past Marco... i flashed Lazlow to give him some space to get past Marco cos I thought I had more chance of a podium and the two of us taking Marco  :)

Unfortunately ran wide and hit a bollard :(...... like SbG  >:( shame because the rest of the track is great fun......

Got stuck with one wheel in a hole and couldn't go backards or forrards :wetfish:

GTL version is muuuuuuuuuuch better than this, with none of those strange bumps or funny little ruts in the grass to trip over. A shame this version isn't up to the same standard :(

Qualified on Pole in GT3 (my first pole, class or absolute) - managed to get a decent gap for the start of the race and was keeping Prof/somebody else about 1 second behind me (in the name of cutting it fine, I put 39mins worth of fuel in for the 40 minute race, so I wasn't going to push for a huge gap to win by a mile - a 1 sec gap was fine for me, allowed me to be a bit conservative in my driving/gear changes) - then I ran wide at T2/3 at the top of the hill and Prof got past me - fortunately I realised I wasn't going to make the corner pretty swiftly and didn't actually go much off the road and recovered quite quickly.

I then set about hunting him down, was 2.2 seconds behind the lap he started ahead of me and on said lap I hit one of those bl**dy killer cones, proper gutted I am. Led more than half the race, pretty sure I could've caught/passed Prof and gone on to win it.

Oh well, c'est la vie, roll on S12!

Edit: I lasted 14 laps without disconnecting, so my long run of Cat5 will be deployed in S12 :)

Race ended early and I think the track could do with some corner cut detection changes.

I didn't even make it to the grid - inexplicable DQ when we went to the race session ??? and I couldn't even join the grid. :'(

What a shame the track is so poorly constructed. :(

Had fun chasing David M in the early stages, was faster in some parts and slower in others but it evened out over a lap.

Got a ten second lead after David's mistake and lost most of it with a spin.

Gifted the class win to API when my machine froze for about a second when the chequered flag came out putting me into a wall.

A decent version of that track long/short would be quite fun - letting GT2 lap was awkward with a relatively small difference in speed.

Well done to winners and finishers.

Nice to see a new track being tried, but unfortunately that version was alright for a bit of one off fun... but sadly that's about it :(

Just a few to many bumps & potholes. Finished about 10 mins early too :laugh:

But as I said, had a bit of fun. Tried out the old 996 (I think? ???) as it's a quite nice drive, though a bit off pace from the other GT2's.

Sadly I had a couple of moments of driving like a plonker & pitted for repairs + new tyres ;D which kind of ended any chance of catching back up to the guys ahead.
