Title: UKGTL Season 9 REPLI-race - ZELTWEG (Österreichring) - Apr 06
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on January 26, 2010, 10:41:38 PM +0000
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Tuesday night ;)).

Server: UKGTL REPLI-race
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=237;theme=5)
(5) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

I'm sure that if you were to explain that you had a REPLI_race to attend they would travel to you?

Like this version better than the newer one with the nasty chicane after start/finish straight.
1:41.4 best so far in turbonutterbeemer

Sorry folks won't be able to make this race = only just got my computer working after decorating my computer room.

I was aiming for the anniversary GTL Alfa race I thought was being held tomorrow - wrong again.

Results and replay now posted.

I kept getting my anti-virus software tell me that I only had 13 days protection left, twice during the race it froze my screen and popped up. Now I'm writing to ask them how I can turn it off. Madness.

Lovely race though and that circuit rates up their in my top 5 all time great tracks. Congrats Pribeiro on your win and well done pods and all finishers.

With only two races left it's pretty close at the top and Pribeiro will be looking to wrap this one up at Watkins Glen. But I dare say the following pack will not be making it that easy for him. Even I have a mathematical chance of winning  ;D

This will be on the 4th May. Details here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7641#event2127.)

Therefore the final REPLI-race event will now take place on May 18th.

I love Osterreichring so wanted to do this one. But having tried these "Repli-mods" earlier in the season & not bothered turning up because I didn't enjoy them... I obviously had the choice of the 'normal' game cars. Took the 911 as that is probably the quickest in my hands (I can't do Panty... a bit like the mods :(), but was a bit disappointed to see i was a full 13 secs off pace to the next slowest driver >:(

Decided to keep going anyway as like I said, I really enjoy the track... but it's no fun on your own & I kind of feel like I maybe shouldn't have bothered :-\

p.s. To keep my moral up, I was trying to get people to give me flash replies ;D (hope I didn't put anyone off :-[)

Well done PR, and Sqrtr for amazing pace

Question: Did you manage to complete the race with just the one stop PR? I went a lap more before pitting than most of the Turbonutterbeemers, and still was at least one lap short with a one stop, so had to splash and dash a few before then end.

The Beemer would only take fuel for 17 laps, so a two-stopper was inevitable. Changing the tyres twice, on the other hand, was entirely optional and only necessary for an idiot such as I.

Where the heck went my post?  :o I swear I hap put it this morning.....oh well, here it goes again.

Hats off to Legzy's crazy car choice and to ADE for even losing a lap for pitting in for repairs (I guess) so early, kept on track to finish the race.
Once again my sparing tires and fuel strategy worked fine.

Congrats Sqter and Matt and to all finishers.

Cheers

EDIT: after this post I saw the first I made earlier there, odd....  ::)

Question: Did you manage to complete the race with just the one stop PR?

Yes Matt, my usual strategy allowed me to stop only once and add a small amount of fuel to finish.

I had two stops, first was cos front tyres were shot so I filled up with gas too and the second was for fuel and more tyres

Sounds like I missed a real challenging race. Work is getting dicey for me. There's a chance I may get a big promotion which will force me to work in New York City full time. Let's see what happens.
