Title: UKGTL Season 9 REPLI-race - DIJON-PRENOIS (Short) - May 18
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on January 26, 2010, 11:00:05 PM +0000
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Tuesday night ;)).

Server: UKGTL REPLI-race
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=237;theme=5)
(5) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Is it me?  ??? I've only recently started using Xd and had shock last night with my on line fuel consumption and tyre wear tests.  Driving the CSL Turbo after, 25 laps, my left hand front tyre was over 20 and my front brakes well into the red.  The other 3 tyres were all around about 4 to 5.  I realise that the brakes take a pounding slowing  such a heavy front engined car (most of my experience with Xd is with the Porsche 914-6 where I don 't need to change tyres in an Enduro of about 70 mins); also powering through the long right hand curves puts a strain on the left front tyre,  Do the other CSL drivers get similar results or is it just my inability to set up a car properly?

Bill

Ps Where were y'all last night?

I had half an hour in the RSR last night; great fun but I don't think I'll be threatening pole  ;D

BTW Matt is that a JTM or a JMP Marshall in your avatar?

Umm

That pic was me at 18. The Amp was a Marshall 50, it was a Real proper Marshall played through a 2x 15 WEM cab when I could get help to carry it. It had 2x EL34s in it (still got some of those in my garage)
Don't understand the rest of the question who is JMP? Oh that was a longgg time ago BTW like 36 years ago, and the
amp was 2nd hand then. The Git is not a real LP, it was a Jap copy of some name.... These days I have a black Strat err De Luxe Plus? not sure, with Lace sensors S/No:E464908 and  a little red Pignose Git for a larrf.

Nice 8)

JMP (Jim Marshall Products) was just a model designation which followed the pre 1968 JTM series and helps to date early small box Marshalls. Hard to tell date it accurately without more info but nice amps anyway. I still have my '64 JTM45 which is one of those "you can't even look at that one" let alone touch it lol. I still play LPs but my main gig guitar is a black Gilmorish strat with lots of changed bits on it.

Having a steady and consistent race in the Gr5 CSL until pitstop time. Pulled in and coasted slowly to a halt and......nothing. Went back and fore trying to wake up my dozey pitman and still nothing. Went out again and in my hurry misjudged the pit entry and smacked into the tyres. Lost interest and hit esc shouting various obscenities at my screen. VERY annoying.

Looked like it was shaping up for a close finish to the series.

Gah! Four laps to go, 4th place secure, bang! That WAS the accelerator pedal.

Now that is "used" Wondered why you were stuck in the fence.
I had a chance at 2nd but got wobbly when I 1st got up alongside Ade and ran out of laps.
Good season. Thanks Tony.

I saw you trying gt - I was in the pits behind you.  I had a spate of that and found out if you're on the man's toes - he takes the huff.  I now go further away from him - not immediately under his outstretched hand.  It's worked to date, try it in an offline quick race, this where I practice my pits stops.  Not that it did any good last night, I was absolute parc.  Monday, on my own - no witnesses - I was able to put in consistent laps around the 1:09 for 25 laps last night I was inconsistent.  I kept running too deep into the corner and couldn't get the power on early, only in the mid  part of the second stint (after the pit stop) did I manage a few laps with comparable times.

Screwed up my start with a spin into the Armco, despite practice starts and then stalled the engine at the pit entry - luckily no one wanted to use it.

A night best forgotten.

Bill

Now then....as Peter Sellers would say in one of his lovelys Inpector Clouseau personage.

Was quite confident with the 3rd spot on grid, even more when I got the 1st place before T1,
then....noone in front and my eyes stucked at the mirror to watch what happened to the front row drivers.
When I remembered that I had to brake, it was a bit late and spun... ::)
Don't really remember at what position I carry on, but I guess it was at the front and ran in first position with Sqter pressure untill I went to pits to put full fuel tank and change all the tires at lap 4  :o
Yep, I started race with fuel for 4 laps.  :stupid:
Later on, two cars spun at the first corner and I couldn't avoid one of them returning to the track.
No need to say that I had to pit once more, this time only for tire change.
Crazy race, yet very enjoyable.
There were very gentleman driving last night, you know who you are, cheers for both.

Unlucky Phil, I hope you fix the pedal soon to have you on track next race.

Congrats to Sqter, Ade and Matt and to all fionishers.

Congrats to KC for team's tittle.

Thank you Tony, your work was amazing and 99.9% perfect.  ;)

Cheers

Dam I didn't get 100%  >:(

A mostly enjoyable series I thought and certainly was a closely fought battle for the top 3 places.

I liked the history aspect but can understand if it didn't grab people with the same enthusiasm.

Tough one to pull off in hindsight as it showed, as in real life, that as soon as the turbo's turned up, everything was going to change.

Not a problem with the other two PEPLI-race era's I would like to run sometime.

Huge thanks to everyone who stuck with it.

Cheers

Tony
