Title: UKGTL Season 9 Stock Car Challenge - VIR (North) - Apr 27
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on January 27, 2010, 12:09:52 AM +0000
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Tuesday night ;)).

All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (80 mins)
Qualifying: RANDOM GRID
Race: 20:40 (14 laps = ~30 mins)

Track: VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY Download here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg109873#post_vir)
Cars allowed: GT350, Ford Falcon, Ford Mustang

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: Standing
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: UKGTL SCC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=238&theme=5)
(5) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

I've been fortunate enough to race on this track for real. Maybe it will give me a leg up?

Interesting track. You have to stay strictly on the racing line or you'll be very slow (or go way off the track).

Ahh catfish. I have to work in the city again tomorrow. I'll miss yet another race. I guess I can't complain. I'm lucky to have so much work in trying times.

Albeit it's a pitty you can't be with us, I congratulate you for having so much work.

I don't remember doing any skin packs, maybe I did.
Was way behind after my enforced handicap, had to wait while most of the field passed, then went on a hyper run
passing a couple of people until I was chasing (and losing) Marco, as usual when trying to make up time I had a few
offs, Syd got close a couple fo times, but must have had his own offs, most of the race was lonely, 12 secs to cars
in front and behind.
Not a complaint, but why are theses races so short? at 40 mins you have an opportunity to make up time after incidents, 30 mins makes it just that bit too manic. (IMHO of course)

Regarding the race length.......These were always intended as a quick fun blast about. And we thought that some nights we would have two races. But that didn't pan out. Your right though, at 40 mins this event would still have been a great laugh but I don't know if the tyres would last.
Next time.....next time......
