Season 19 - Novices Trophy

The rules for the Novices Trophy are the same as last season.

The races will be run as follows:

Car set: 65 F1 only
Date: Every second Tuesday from 30th March 2010
Time: 9:00pm London UK Time (30 mins practice, race starts at 9:30pm)
Race Length: Long
Damage Model:  Intermediate
Server: UKGPL_5

Don't ask me why I'm signing up to the 65's instead of my usual 67's - truth is I don't really know. Perhaps it's just to get some inspiration after not even loading GPL since before xmas.

I took part in the last 65's season over in the GBGPL and drove the BRM in every race, mainly because I didn't have time to go and really learn the cars. I'll take whatever you throw at me in this championship, but please bear in mind that I drive using the keyboard, so one of the more stable chassis' would be a better starting point for me.

are there more drivers over in gbgpl that would like to join us over here , i think your the 2nd so far , i think we race on different nights so all would be welcomed .

I've been driving in the UKGPL 67s for a couple of seasons now, alternating weeks with the GBGPL 67s. Only, last season I couldn't do the Thursdays needed so I changed to the 65s.

As far as I know there are several people who (at least occasionally) work both sides of the fence, but I often get confused with names, sorry. Mostly I forget whether someone is primarily known to me through GBGPL or UKGPL so I shut up rather than commit a faux pas...

don't worry about that ... i think evilclive might be in both camps , but i was talking about newer drivers .

Don't worry Sharky, my name appears regularly in both UKGPL and GBGPL and you may have noticed that it reads the same forwards or backwards, just to make things easier. ::)

I did once wonder if Nicky Ickx was a play on names as when Nicky appears on Prib he shows as N.Ickx which kind of looks like N.Icky, but apparently its nothing like it! lol  Nicky is just a big fan of Jacky!

I've changed my vote to 75% or more attendance. My goal is to finish at least top 5 in points, maybe even higher.  ;)

I'm in, looking forward to a full campaign after dipping my toe in the water last season.

The race passwords will always be shown at the top of each race announcement thread, but they only appear on the day of the race I think and you will only be able to see passwords for divisions you are entered in.

We don't give the passwords out in chat but as a last resort I'm sure somebody in there would send you a private irc message with it if you really can't find it.

Please vote at the top of this page to register.  Everyone who finished above you in the championship last season have been promoted to the Ams.  With 2 wins last season you are a strong contender for the championship so I think you should be seeded in group 3 (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7620.0) which means you get the Cooper.

did you mean group 3 which is the cooper or group 2 that is the bt11 ?

I've just managed to assemble a racing brain, and necessary parts to partake in Novices, Season 19.  Colin and I would be happy to give the Lotus a longer workout, but I'd be happy to crawl around in anything with 4 wheels.

i lost my PC, and must reinstall all so i have some
Q about GPL installation:
1. when i install demo, do i need insert my GPL original CD ?
2. i cant download 1965 mod from gpllinks.org .. there is message server not found .. is there some other place where to go?

about installing gpl , you need the cd for the papy tracks . but if you have your old harddrive you could just copy over your gpl folder and reinstall igor/gem from here
