(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=235;theme=34)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph.

I too enjoy Rouen. I ran a race there at R2P earlier this year in the Gulf GT40. I was doing well till my crew decided not to fuel me.

Just so that I don't spend another week practicing with the wrong colour car, only to find in the last five minutes of practice that, say, the purple one has yellow/red/white spot remolds that are good for another half second a lap......

Does anyone know if any of the z06 cars are fitted with brakes?  ::)

Hillarious Clive. I'm planning on taking each of the Vettes out for a drive to see what's what. I think the group here knows I like heavy, big power iron although, I'm thinking the Ferrari will be good here.

I did some practice tonight. I decided to get started earlier because I love the Vette and Rouen. I was a bit surprised to find I was 4 seconds a lap quicker in the Ferrari. I'll explain more in detail tomorrow.

I too am surprised to hear that!
I'm expecting it to just have the edge, but with the Vette obviously having the power advantage for the start & overtaking

My first session yielded a 2:25.318 in the z06 but was a bit like the curate's egg.  Good in parts.

On my third session I've reached 2:23.842 in the Vette.

The kink is such a pain in the bass though, i'm losing time there every single lap!!

NOTE - Edited one word, use your imagination to keep it clean please. :)

What is good about the Ferrari?
- Much better tires
- Much better suspension
- 5 speed gearbox
- Better brakes
- Less fuel usage
- Less tire abuse
- Glorious sounds

What is good about the Vette?
- It's a scary looking mother if you're in the black one

Initially I thought the Vette would be best with a slight power to weight advantage (.271 vs .265), but there isn't much in it. By time you add all the extra fuel to feed the thirsty engine I think they would be even. The brakes on the Vette aren't too bad, but they glow red hot and become biscuit tin after a number of laps. The tires are junk. Plain and simple. Ian found out how funny they are the last round in the GT350. I was also shocked to find the Ferrari is only down 1 mph on the Vette in the long straight. This isn't due to better cornering because both cars are flat through the 2 corners leading up to it. The Ferrari destroys the Vette with cornering speed elsewhere.

I developed the Ferrari setup with default fuel and then realized I needed to take some out. Now there is abit of a balance issue that I need to correct, but I still managed 2:19.4 in the Ferrari. I could only muster a 2:23.2 in the Vette and I like to think my Vette setups are well developed with all the time I've spent in them. Somebody go prove me wrong. I'm going to try some other colors too including the White one.

Something's gotta give.

Which one would you rather race in? I would personally much rather drive the Vette, it's much more fun to drive, I guess most would agree on that,,,

PS: If some other car should replace the Ferrari on this, which should it be?

More comparrison times would help.
Mike have a try in the L72... See how that compares please?

I've just taken 5 laps in the L72 and I could easily do 2:19.5, the car itself is, predictably, a bit harder to drive though

I just spent some time on the server with Matt. I drove all the different flavors of the Z06 and found the other colors (grey and white/blue) are the same. With a perfect lap, I managed a best of 2:22.4. Typically though, I was running low 2:23's. I jumped in the White #5 and found the handling better due to the rear bar adjustment and the extra power helped, but the real acchillies heal of the vette are those damn BFG tires. Those things stink to high heaven. It is close. With a perfect lap, I managed a 2:20.2. It should race well against the Ferrari with 3 mph top speed advantage. Top speed in the Ferrari was 150, regular Z06 is 151 and #5 ZO6 is 153.

I'm not proposing to remove the Ferrari or adding other cars. I'm sharing my findings. I didn't expect what I found. I didn't test the L72, but it would eat all the others for breakfast. It has far too much power to be on par with the Ferrari or Z06's.

I just took 1 flying lap in the L72 and ran a 2:18.6 without any setup adjustments. It has tremendous power compared to the Ferrari. I'll try the #1 AATC Mustang.

Is it ok to continue practising with the Ferrari?

I don't have a lot of free time so I need to know that anytime I do spend is not going to be a wasted.

I'm not bothered by changes to the other car as I want to only drive the Ferrari.

Again... I'm not suggesting we take the Ferrari out. I'm not suggesting anything other than the standard issue Z06's are considerably slower than the Ferrari. The ATCC Mustang is quite good actually. It may be too good in the right hands compared to the Ferrari. I managed a 2:19.6 after 12 laps, but the kicker is it's 156 mph top speed. Like the Ferrari, it has good tires too.

OK. I think I've stirred the pot too much. I'll leave you with my findings. Again, this is only my findings. Others may have different results.

How much more do you think you could take off that L72 time?
Also, I assume it's fairly heavy on tyres & fuel compared to fezza?

I'm always happy for someone to stir the pot if they are prepared to help improve the race & not just be negative... So just you carry on please. :)

The L72 Vette would crush the Ferrari. I could probably get another second or two if I worked at it.

So if we allow the "White #5" Z06 & only allow the three "1966" F275's as they have slightly poorer tyres then the 1967 model?

Thoughts please?

I tested with the #26 Ferrari. I'd say leave all Ferrari and ZO6 models already included in and add the white Z06. Some may have different tire preferences. Also, I wouldn't want to alienate those who already practiced with another car. The extra legs of the Vette may convince me to try it eventhough it is a bit down on overall lap time.

Love this circuit!

Never driven here before but it's growing on me bit by bit as I unravel it's secrets. Those Virtual LM boys certainly now how to turn out a visual stunner.

And with the early morning sun flickering through the tree line and blinding you at that 2nd gear left hander, you can drive through the pits and almost smell the pitcrew's coffee, croissants and Gauloises.

The Ferrari is just so right here and my best time so far is 2:26.9 if that helps.

Well done Legzy, great gig and really looking forward to Thursday night. Bet I get discoed  ::)

OK thanks all for your testing help. We'll go with the Z06 (including the white #5) against the F275.

I just hope some of the heavy metal fans stick with the Z06 so we have someone to slow the Fezza's down in the corners before blowing us away on the straights ;)

I'll try the white vette , but my feelings are much the same as Mike, the normal z06 is not quite fast enough on the
straight to equal the 275's lap times. I don't get on with the 275 round here though, so would take the white vette if
it's any faster than the others.

Only tried the GPL version of this track previously and hated it cause I couldn't get the 67 cars around that hairpin at all. Tried the 275, felt very good and I changed my mind however, then reeled out the Z06 and all those nasty memories came flooding back. I couldn't get it around that hairpin no matter what. For me, there's no way the Z06 is more fun around here.

If the 275 is too quick, I did notice that there were slower tyre/pace combos available there. The nana yellow is the slowest I think.

LOL at least you don't have the dreaded polos to get stuck on in this version Ian.  ;D

Think that I am going with the #5 z06 as I do like to be the fastest thing on the straight and I am slightly quicker in it.  Mind you, I haven't found all the tyre combinations for the Ferrari yet.  It's a pain in the butt having to pick through all the cars to see what boots they have on.  I don't suppose there is a manual with this sort of stuff in?

There is a tyre manual, but it just tells you about the abilitys of the Tyres, not what Tyres are on what car.
Generally the later the model the better the Tyres are likely to be available. Not 100% though.
Also, you can often have more slidey fun with older Tyres  8)

hope a few of the fast guys take the vette to make it more interesting. Not tried it myself yet but being i am 2 secs slower than Ian and usual quick guys in my fezza, i think i'll stick with it. Besides we dont get to use these tasty colour schemed 'normo' F-275s often. May try the vette out later just for a feeler.

Wouldnt the E-Types have been a good match for the 275s?

Reading the various posts for PnG I get the impression that there is a way to select any make of tyre for any car.  When I enter the garage the tyre choice is limited to just one make (Dunlap or Goodyear etc).

Am I miss reading what is being said or can any tyre be selected - if yes what do I have to do to enable it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not all of the same car choice is equal, so say if you have 5 Ferrari 275's to choose from, each of those could be on different tyres. You need to go into the info tab when picking the car or when viewing the car in the spinner and look to see what brand of tyres is on it.

Bill, I have done that so many times.......

Nice race/cars but for me something wasn't quite right but I'm can't work out what. Maybe I was expecting it to be really, really good and for me it was a bit flat.

Still enjoyable tho, especially the guy who had a massive tank slapper on and I approached at speed and couldn't decide which side to pass on cos he was left then right then left then right etc etc.  :D

Good fun race, I love that track. Slow start as car in front didn't move, then spent most of the race trying to stay in front of CLive who was quicker in some parts but not in others, was also trying to hang on to the tail of MJ but he was gradually
pulling away, half caught him back up again later, but could not quite do it. Lifted for Ade after his off, as he was catching
very fast, then had some fun on the back straight out dragging him, was not a serious repass attempt, was expecting
to be outbraked, but missed the mucky marks on the road for braking marks and went into the fence bending suspension
had a few challenging laps trying to adapt to the car that would not turn right, and kept chucking the back out wildly
managed to get a sort of a pace together, and Clive seemed to be having more trouble than I was, so held the place to the end.
Shame Ruskus dropped before the start, and MADD dropped half way or the front might have been even more interesting
Grats to Pod for awesome pace.

Dissapointed to see Jeff leave during quali. He, Ian and I would have had a cracker. The race didn't go exactly as I expected. I thought Ian would be pressuring me the entire race, but I was right around 1 second per lap quicker early on. I backed off just a touch once I had a 4 second gap. He kept me honest till just after the half way point when he must have had a bit of a moment losing another 2 seconds. I'm thinking he either put his head down to crank out some great laps or he didn't practice for this race and was learning the track. Either way, he started gaining on me. I was dropping off a bit too with the Goodyear bass tires. With 3 laps to go, he was right on me. The last 3 laps were tense as he was much quicker through the twisty stuff in his 275 and my ZO6 had the legs. Fantastic race Ian. It looks like PR and Ade were quite close together as well.

Yayy i got 5th :)...where i should have finished sunday without pitstops  ::)

Couldnt quite match my qually speed and qualied a disapointing 7th as was banging in regular 1:21s last night on the server which should have netted a top 4 place.
Got the jump on Clives? Vette at race start and onto 6th for lap 1. Lap 2 i think someone ahead span and found myself 5th where i stayed for quite a few laps with Matt always ever present a couple of secs behind me. Soon i was upto 4th when Ade had an off and enjoyed a decent battle with Pribeiro for a number of laps whilst again Matt chased me hard. Lost some time later on when Madds disco'd car was stranded right on the fast sector 1 kink and Ade closed right up on me again. He soon got by as i had chosen the wrong final gear ratio for the race and it meant i was very sluggish out of the uphill corners, though fast when i could keep the momentum up, ala qually.
Then as my tyres started to go off later in the race with more and more understeer, added to the blinking sunlight between the trees in sector 1, my laps became 1-2 secs slower and Ade and Prib disapeared off into the sunrise/set ? whilst Matt closed up the 7 second gap to just 2-3 in the final few laps and kept me nervously watching my mirrors.
But i crossed the line for a well earned 5th and was happy with a top 5 result in this fiercely competitive series. :)
I had plumped for the yellow spot tyres for the race as didnt think the white spots would last and yet my meds were still pretty worn at the front late on. i was hoping the guys up front were on whites and would lose pace late on but it never happened.
Amazing pace by the front two again   :o...you two need to stop taking those steroids !  I couldnt believe the lead they had after about 10 laps  :-[

Very nice track, there was no close wheel to wheel racing for me but a challenging fast road event none the less, where you had to be constantly alert for much of the lap.  8)

Great race and car match up, cheers Legzy (you're getting the hang of this now ;)).

I've enjoyed a bit of pracci this week but I'd not practiced for those times of day. The difference was night and day ::) Couldn't adjust to conditions through quali and glad to get 2nd in the end. Very slow to get going in race and kept making silly mistakes when I occasionally got near to Mike. Then, for no reason I can think of, it all clicked and really sniffed a chance to pip Mike. Great fun for last 6 or 7 laps chasing him. When I eventually got with him, with about 2 laps to go, I threw everything I know at him with no luck. Congrats Mike.

Well done to PR, stopped a kerbie lock out you swine :) And Manteos for a brilliant effort.

I've to apologize with Chris for the tap at the hairpin... even if I was so concentrated, I found you more slower than the other cars in front... but it's surely a mine fault... Sorry, sorry, and sorry again if I set a crash at the bend caused by my tap to Legzy... hope to haven't involved so much people in this crash :(.
After that I' ve lost my lights, and I ran the whole race without it... The last 6-7 laps were a real fun with Alex. We had a great battle all over the track, and I really enjoyed it!!! Some good overtakes for both drivers, and it was a pity I had to lose a lot of speed during the long right corner, but it's quite impossible to have the sensibility to turn the wheel slightly with the pad, and I wasted every time 6-7 tenth only in that corner :(... however it was a great battle and I really appreciated it!
I excuse even with Lazlow that during the first laps will be scared about my brakings approaching the hairpin, but my car reply to my inputs in some strange way during the first laps... I can't wait to return to drive with my loved thrustmaster!!! Driving with pad is dangerous for other drivers, even if apart from the start I had no other crashes, but I risked too much!!!
Cu for the next!!! bye bye guys!!!

I was pleased with qually but decided to calibrate my wheel before the race.  That’s when the trouble started.  The wheel felt like it had a brick under one wheel and when I reached full right lock it was all spongy instead of hitting a firm travel stop.

So I nipped onto the grid and off again and then it behaved properly.

Went onto the grid again and realised it was practically dark.  In my book that’s another way of ruining what might have been a perfectly good race!

I had barely registered that it was dark when the race started and so I lost a couple of places.  Then, in the gloom I ran wide and belted the Armco at T2 but held onto the place.  I think it was Matt behind and he was able to get alongside onto the main straight and I just about spotted a brake marker and kept it on the island at Scierie.

I then spent the race trying to catch Matt or MJ or Ade, depending on what order they were running in at the time, and desperately trying to get away from Mr Oily and Geoffers.

The brakes on the z06 all but disappeared towards the end and I would dearly like to know what Mike does to these things to be able to fight off Ian.  Geoffers passed me with a couple of laps to go but thankfully he screwed up T2 just after and I was able to regain the place.  It was touch and go at Scierie on the last lap as Geoffers had closed on me again.

I was definitely in the wrong car.  At the end of the race I think that I would have had better brakes by opening the door and dragging my foot on the track!

Enormous congratulations and much respect to Mike for winning in z06.  Standard congratulations to Ian and Paulo for their podium finishes.

I expect Mike would share his setup if asked. Not sure why the brakes were an issue, mine were into the yellow or
orange at every major brake point, but I had set bias to 52 front to try to take some of the load off the fronts.
i can't say the brakes were particularly worse on the last lap than the 1st, but I was too busy driving with the
wheel half turned on the straights to care that much

Hmmm, worse race for a long time for me  >:(

Qually was OK, except I was over a second up on my PB when the session ended. Just hate it when that happens....  >:(

On lap 1,  I took it easy into the hairpin, almost worked as a few cars tangled, tried to avoid a spinning Legzy but he reversed into my path at the last minute, which bent the steering  :(

On lap 3, I braked too late into the hairpin decided to go straight on through the bales, tried to take a shortcut over the kerbs but they're pretty nasty and further damaged the suspension.

On lap 4, on the back straight kink the car suddenly decided it wasn't going to turn in and I ended up ploughing straight into the wall.... engine kaput... end of race.  >:(

The track was cool, it reminded me of my GPL days. Hope we will race there again sometime!

The brakes do take a beating in this car... particularly at this track. Mine were in the RED at each heavy brake zone. Fortunately, there is enough straight running to cool them between stops. I found they are worst the 1st few turns till they warm up along with the tires. My setup for this race is here...

Not a race to remember for me. Lack of practice meant that I was always going to be struggling here. Lost count of how many times I clattered the barriers on the outside of curves or spun it after clipping the grass on the inside.

Nice track/car selection. These VLM tracks are fantastic.

I enjoyed last nights race even though I spent most of my time on my own at the back as the last one on the road.  Disappointed to see so many drop out (particularly those who usually keep me company at the rear of the grid)

Congratulations to Mike, Ian and PR and thanks to everyone else who turned out for the race.

You sure confused me at the start with this move Bill - I thought for a moment that I must have jumped the lights

Well done to PR, stopped a kerbie lock out you swine

:D I'm trying hard, I really am... :sweatdrop:

Each time I race at Rouen (since GPL days) I get a mixed feeling of danger yet easy to drive around.
May sounds odd, but that is what I feel. Undoubtedly one of my favourite tracks.

This time my strategy was (different from last races) full attack from the begining.
Ade and Madd were unlucky and I had my share of it also when I lost the places for them at the final of the long straight, later, Ade reciprocated my generosity at the very same place.
Mark was with me almost all race, I was aware that a slighty mistake from me and the place was tooked by him. Last 5 laps the gap for the top 2 was about 2 days  :whistling: and to Ade was 7 seconds.
I decided then to take it easy untill the end driving 1 second slower.

Fun and scary moment on lap 1 or 2? When after the hairpin I met a 275 facing towards the rest of the field.  :turned:

Congrats for the astonishing pace Mike and Ian (I'm trying.... :ninja: )

Well done to all finishers, speccialy to Manteos.

Cheers

Great race on a great track, but those fast turns are tricky to get right.

I'd managed low 2.22s in practicing, but couldn't repeat them in qually. It seems the same at each race, can't go as fast as in pre-race practice, must be doing something wrong.  ???  Start of the race I was a bit too cautious, easing off to let others who had got in a mess sort themselves out & so lost a few spots on the first lap.

Once I got settled into the race I started to catch the guys ahead. Had a good battle with Mr Oily for a few laps until he spun out at the tight LHer. Then started to real in Clive's Corvette at around a second a lap & got past when he ran wide at the hairpin. Matt was next & I started to catch him but then got a bit too excited & spun at T2  ::), which let Clive back past. Fortunately, despite hitting the barriers the car still drove OK & I set to catch Clive again. Got very close but nearly lost it braking for the last tight RHer (Scierie according to Clive) on the last lap so came in 8th. Great fun  ;D

Congrats to the Mike & Ian show & also to PR

A bit late but... good show!

Qualified at the back (as usual) and saw quite some handsome Ferrari's turned into scrap in the first lap.. ouch!
After the carnage at the chicane I ended up 15th.
Had lots of battles amongst one with teamie Tim until he parked his car in the barriers in the long righthander. Quite a impressive sight..  :o

The met up with Manteos and had some very good laps with side-to-side racing although your pad-input seemed quite awkward; the frontwheel bearing looked like an on/off switch ans I gained some unfair advantage in the long curve. Hope your leg heals quickly so you can mix with the fast racers again.
