Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=227)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph (Staying in 1st gear being a decent guide).

Thanks Legzy.

Looks like hours of fun sorting out that little trio.

Think I will try the 914 first, then the 275 and then the L88.

No matter which car turns out to be the better choice, I will run the Ferrari.

A US big-block V8 and a Porsche boxer 6 may sound nice for a while, but the sound of an italien fullbread engine will always be on top of my list.
I've had the good luck to drive in a 250 GT ( as a passenger  :( ) and even though this was some 35 years ago, I believe I can still remenber the sound ....woaahhhh

Great track btw.

Great stuff Stig,

Circulate the setup to the faithful as soon as you have something.  :thumbup1:

EDIT
Left to their own devices, the AI come up with:
L88  1:19.2
Ferrari 1:17.3
Porsche 1:16.5

EDIT 2

At 1:17.9 in the 914 but having to suspend developments whilst I replace the upshift microswitch on my DFP.  I've tried mapping it through the keyboard but it still gives me a double shift when I least expect it.

Nice circuit to drive on.   Could do with being flatter!  ;D

Ensure USB is plugged into back of computer; not in front, in a monitor or through a USB hub. You need full power or you'll get those pesky double shifts.

Thanks Mike, that's interesting.  I think that having to bury myself behind the computer every time I wanted a race would take the shine off it a tad but I shall try next time it goes wrong.  I would also be sneezing for about an hour.

For now I have replaced the tactile switch on the up-shift paddle and that has cured it.

just done some exploratory laps here. Nice track  8) Quite technical with a real variety of corners and some yumps to catch out the unwary !

1:17.054 in the spunky little 914. Had a 1:16 in me a few times but later errors lost the time. Good fun, should make for a great race. Just make sure you brake early !

Same here Mark.  1:17.015 in the Porsche and about two seconds a lap slower in the L88.

Nice track :) Think I've tried the 275 before but I can't remember it being that tricky, truly a beast. The L88 is a comfy old hector after that. The 914 has the pace for me and is certainly easier to contain.

I did some testing tonight so I thought I'd share my results.

L88 Roadster: This thing feels out of place here. It feels like a big fat American on an ice hocky rink wearing tennis shoes. All inputs (gas, brake, steering) do little to stop the current trajectory. I have spent quite a bit of time in this car in the Race2Play league so my setups are fairly stout. Still, I could only lumber to a best of 1:18.1.

Ferrari 275 Special: What a glorious sound from the engine. I think this was the original drift car. It is so well balanced and easy to drive on the knife edge. My setups aren't as developed in this as they are in the Vette and Porsche so it took a bit longer to get up to speed. There probably is more to be had, but from what I can see, the Porsche is quicker simply because the tires are better in it. There isn't enough of a straight to get the Ferrari fully wound up. I did a best of 1:15.8.

The Porsche feels at home on this tight and twisty circuit. It reminds me a of Barber a bit with the blind crests and negative camber. This is even tougher with the trail braking required into turn 1 and the decreasing radius turns. It really is a challenging track. In the end, the Porsche was quickest because it is light on it's feet and has the best tires. I ran a best of 1:14.7.

I was confussed when I read that. ???
Then I went back to my race announcement post... I made a cut n paste typo chaps. Sorry.

L88 Roadster should read "L88" (not specific on model, which is why it was so slow)

I'll amend the announcement now.

Welcome to UKPnG :)

I think we've had something like 26 / 28 / 20 for the last few races :-\. So that should be fine, just please keep an eye on if the server is filling up (28).

Good luck with your hip for next season.

I wouldn't say I'm a professional. I know GoldTop is working on it though. I'm in the midst of testing and should make an anouncement soon with a few preseason test races. As you know Legzy, there is a ton of work that goes into testing car and track combinations.

This is really frustrating. I actually practiced for this one. I take time out of my work schedule for this so technically, it costs me a good deal of money. I have a clear chance at winning the event by being one of the fastest drivers and cant even participate.

Enjoyed good early battle with CLive and Pribeiro, but then API went off ahead and the resulting dust cloud seem to make my fps drop to nothing and i couldnt continue, so pulled off the track  :'(

Think ive got an overheating problem. This Pc is just about goading me into a replacement !

Unlucky Mike, that really sucks at season end. :(

Mike we are not using any skinpacks, these are the standard PnG cars.

Had an ok start and was following Matt into the fast chicane after the bridge when he got a massive slide on and i hit his rear. Stopped and waited but the next lap got a tankslapper on before last corner and damaged front and rear ends in the barriers. Wsnt handling well, weaving down straights and was 13secs down on next person with not much fun for the rest of the race.

Unlucky Mike/MJ, seemed like there were a few gremlins tonight. Just a tinternet thing I guess :-\

Good race :) Had a few duels with 914's and gotta say they didn't find it easy, very tricky for them to follow the fezza and L88 I think. Got clobbered once (no worries Marco) and tapped a few times but also saw some fly off rather than hit me. Very tricky combo to race but hope you gents had as much fun as me.

Another last lap engine blow up  Congrats Bonni, Ade and Geoffers. Thanks Legzy and those behind the scenes for some great fun. Cyu all next season :)

p.s. Team KC do rather rule

Sigh, two races in a row where I get pushed round and have the opportunity to try to fight back up the field  :whistling:
That wasn't a massive slide, that's how this thing steers
Anyroad up, made a good start for a change, passed a few off the line, then turned left into T1 err but there was a fence in the
way... it was the other part of the track before the actual T1  :-[ That was why I was off track and got out of positition
Chased TT for a while till he fell off, then managed to stay in front until the flag despite falling of a bit myself.
Awkward track for the cars I thought, jolly good fun all the same.
My engine health started at 28% and got down to 23 within a few laps, I started short shifting, and consequently going slower
and ended the race on 20%. Bit fragile the high spirited Italian motors I guess.

EDIT: I understand why i turned left too soon, I was following Clive! good feint sir!

PnG crashed again and I couldn't rejoin in time, thinks that's the final nail in the coffin as far as my further participation goes, at least for some time anyways.
Such a shame as I found the 914 very good fun here too.

Hope you all have some good future racing.

Mike have you tried if you can start a practice session offline with the same car as TinMan?
I had the same problem in Mara some time ago and found out that I had some missing files for  the car that didn't want to load online and the game kept crashing offline.

Happy with my first podium this season, even though it was only because Ginsters blew his engine on the final lap  :o, bad luck Ginsters.

First half of the race was full of action with several 914s trying to pinch my 6th place. First API until he went off, then Goldtop until Tinman past him & finally Tinman who got past when I made a mistake at the downhill esses. We ran quite close for several laps until we caught Manteos who seemed to be having handling problems. Unfortunately it ended when Manteos lost control at the downhill esses & finished up in the middle of the track. Tinman couldn't avoid Manteos & I couldn't avoid Tinman. We sorted ourselves out & resumed in the same order but both the others went off at the next corner & I carried on, minus front bumper, now in 4th.

Ran the rest of the race alone but nearly threw it away on lap 31 when I ran too wide into T1 & finished up in the gravel trap. Luckily had enough time to rejoin before PR came along & lucked into 3rd with Ian's demise on the last lap.  ::)

Congrats to Bonni & Ade

Again I didn't practice at all any lap, therefore I chosed the supposed easy car to drive.
With no time to practice aswell at the practice session, I went for only a couple of laps at qualifying.
Can't really remember the time, but I had set the 16th place. Didn't bother much as I couldn't done any more laps before race (family, family, family.........).

Race was fantastic with close fighting with Mark, API, Clive and Goldtop. Thank you guys.

Absolutely happy with the final 4th place.

Congrats to the podium and well done to all finishers.

Huge thanks and congratulations also for Legzy and his stunning work during the season.

Cheers

Post by: Clive Loynes on April 30, 2010, 12:02:48 PM +0100
I think that I would have to say that that was an eventful race.

To begin with I had made my usual last minute change to the Goodyear shod 914, having seen the times that Bonni was doing in practice.  I did manage a 16.4 somewhere along the way in qually or practice but in hindsight that was probably more down to gear ratio improvements rather than tyres.  I always felt happier with the Dunlops and seeing that Marco did the fastest race lap on them I should probably have stayed with them.  Another one to chalk up to experience.

Seeing Paduano sat in the pits and not setting a time in qually I put two and two together and assumed that this was an alias for Fulvio.  Wrong again!  He was off keeping the missus happy.  This meant that I was sat on the grid expecting the countdown to go all the way with one missing when suddenly we were off!  I just about managed to get it into gear but lost places to Tinman and Tudor off the line.

Then, not having been down the left hand side of the straight before, as Matt has said I tried to turn into the dummy first turn.  I just realised in time but apologies to Matt.

Over the first couple of laps I had Mark behind me and Tinman in front.  Then API appeared in front and Paulo was following.  All hectic stuff as the Goodyears slowly came up to temperature.

API made an error and dropped back a few places, which left me following Tinman again but at a respectful distance.  Paulo, on the other hand was getting closer.

We swapped Tudor for Tinman and I was gradually catching him.  This lasted until mid distance when I passed Tudor after he had a mishap.

Not too sure what happened then.  I know that API, Paulo, Tudor and myself were all approaching Stig to lap him.   I think that Paulo got past but the rest didn’t and somehow I passed API again.  But with the big silver bus in front of me and API nibbling bits off my rear bumper I was not at ease.  Stig pulled over at what I think was the second right after going over the bridge.  I turned inside and attempted to accelerate out of the corner fast enough to keep API behind and for some reason my right rear found all the grip in the world and threw me into the wall on the left.

I think I may have bent things a little because it didn’t feel so good in the last turn any more, one of the few corners that I was getting nearly right.

That let Tudor have another go at me.  The big silver bus was still there and I drove off into the sand at T1, allowing Tudor through.

On the penultimate lap I thought that Matt was catching me but it turned out to be Bonni, wanting to lap me.  I didn’t figure out who it was until we had crossed the line and I’m damn glad that I didn’t let him lap me or I wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of Tudor and Ian’s last lap problems.

Congratulations to Bonni, Ade and Geoffers and thanks to Legzy for a great season.

Also many thanks to the people that I diced with in this race.  Although I have not mastered the art of maintaining corner speed in these beasts they all managed not to hit me once.  Great driving.

Tough luck on Mike.  Hope you are able to sort it.

Nice pace from Bonni, Ade, Marco and Ian. Marco was really ripping it out there in race trim. I was on pace with him in practice when I ripped a 1:14.4 in race trim. I too would like to raise my cup and congratulate Geoffers for a 3rd place finish. Even though Ian fell out with motor problems, a big part of securing a top finishing place is positioning yourself to pick up the pieces with others fall.

I still haven't figured out my issue. TinMan was running the #59 Brumos Porsche (same I was using in practice). I tried joining with every car available during the quali session and still couldn't get in. I tried reinstalling the track. I tried ISDN, Cable, LAN bitrate settings. Nothing worked. I also confirmed each car loads on that track in an offline practise session. I'm stumped.

Congrats on a fine season Ian and the Kerb Crawlers.

Practice your pit stops boys. You're going to need them next season.

A very exciting race from the off as I managed to take advantage of Clive's hesitant start. I too was presuming the countdown would go all the way because of our spectator and realised just in time.

Spent the first part of the race keeping pace with Geoffers, but never really had an opportunity to attempt a pass. I was struggling to hold on and made a mistake as I came under pressure from Paulo and Clive. I'm glad Clive can remember such detail as all my attention was taken trying to keep the 914 on track. I do recall noticing Clive was a little slow into the first chicane and planning to make a move there. I managed to get past once but made a mess of my line and was repassed on the exit. Hope that wasn't too cheeky of me there buddy, but I thought it was worth a go ;) Both Paulo and API were also too good for me and I started making a few silly errors costing me places. Was a bit gutted to run out of fuel on the last lap though :'(

Congrats to Bonni, Ade and Geoffers for their podies and congrats to Ian and the Kerbies on the championships. Hard luck Mike for your troubles; very strange and unfortunate.

Thanks again to Legzy for all his time and help behind the scenes.

Bad race for me...
I had some good fights with Ian and Marco, but I've done so much mistakes to obtain a good result...
At the 22nd lap, I had a black screen before the chicane of the second intermediate, and I found myself blocked into the middle of the left corner, with no chances for Geoffers and an another driver (I don't remember who...) to avoid me... Sorry guys, it never happend to me... but there's always a first time :(...
Two corners later, I decided to give up after another spin, and I hope I reached to push ESC in time... If I didn't I deeply apologize with the involved driver :(

Grats to Bonni for the great race pace, and to the podium, especially to Ade in the L88!!! Nice stuff man!
Cu for the next one guys!

P.S. Forum name for [VDAO]Paduano is "Pepz"... sorry for my late answer!

Not a problem Tudor, I saw it coming.  And had a big grin on my face when you took to the grass.  ;D
API had been paying close attention there as well but he always decided to opt out.

I think that I lost a few pounds during that race.  There was never any let up!
