Title: UKGTL Season 10 Great German Touring Challenge - Lausitz (Oval) - Sep 20
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 03, 2010, 05:05:39 PM +0100
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night ;)).

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=257;theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

If you intend to race please download both skinpacks and install the BMW 320i even if you don't intend to drive it.

It's OK, I'll do it.  ;)

EDIT: I don't think it's a problem as we have already used this track pack for the earlier Lausitz race this season

This is a glitch with Internet Explorer. Simply rename with the .exe and your good to go.

What a nailbiter that was. Got the jump on Helle at the start and we exchanged positions a few times in the opening laps before he pulled a gap.

I eeked out a longer first run to put me on a one stopper, but made a mess of my pitstop and had to reverse and drive back in losing a lot of time. Had to gamble on not changing any tyres but then sufferred for it later in the race as my pace fell off and I lost the lead to Navin. For the last 7 or 8 laps I was in strict fuel saving mode and was caught by first by Pelle and then by Navin after hed pitted for a splash/dash on the penultimate corner. On the last corner the engine gave a splutter and died, so I dipped the clutch and juuuuuuuuuuuust rolled it over the line in third  ;D

Congrats to Pelle and Navin and very well done to Tony for creating such a close and tense race  8)

Another great track choice that I hadn't run before.. A very tricky oval that reminds me of a smaller version of Pocono.. A true challenge having 3 different corners to deal with.. I was having the most problem with the second corner where you could ealiy drive too deep and pay a large chunk of lap time if you get it wrong..  Qualy went just fine with a decent 4th starting position. But I had no idea that GTLDK's own Helle was an oval expert. Helle's new nick name shall be Ricky Bobby from now on ;D. I had a very bad start and lost a bunch of positions but had a great time with some very good battling with Sqter,Pelle, and Phil. Good stuff fellas ;) I got a good in and out lap for the first pit stop, but was still 12 seconds behind Goldtop.. I found a new line mid corner and exiting turn one which really helps my pace and was able to reel in GT a little faster than I thought possible so I figured he was on a fuel conservation mode to make it with only 1 stop. So at that point all I could do is go as fast as I could and was able to put together a very good set of laps. I did my last stop for a splash and dash and was once again was around 12 seconds behind with only a few laps left to the finish. All I could hope for is Pelle and or GT to run out to have any chance at the top spot.. GT must have had to back off a lot more in those last 2 laps because I was able to get past him before the last turn and finish right behind Pelle :)  Great job Pelle with some great laps and strategy. Goldtop for another great battle. Helle and Sqter for helping get 4 of the 5 top spots ;) Thanks to everyone else for competing in another great UKGTL race ;D
