Title: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Sachsenring (1927-72) - Sep 13
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 07, 2010, 12:46:39 PM +0100
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night ;)).

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (16 laps = ~50mins)

Track: Sachsenring 1967 Download this (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg109873#post_sachsenring67)
Cars allowed: Mercedes 300SL, Jaguar E-type (1030kg only). This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 (http://www.humyo.com/9240347/SimRacing.org.uk/UKGTL/Cars/SRou_UKGTL_Skins_1.8.0.0.exe) which will need to be installed prior to racing.

Time of Day Setting: 06:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: UKGTL RDs
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=253;theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

i don't know, how dark/early 6:00 is on Sachsenring, but i would avoid headlights, because this track had a few bugs with lighting.

I just been testing mp a bit, and I get a lot of track not installed errors when trying to join open servers. Iget it on Donningto Gp, Monza Gp, Dijon Prenois... But I can join for example Mondello park short or anderstorp north.
What's worst is I checked on no grip forums and nobody else seems to have these problems. It's just me and hotkeys it seems.
I've deleted hosts entries and LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.txt and LOCAL_IP_LOBBY_backup.txt  as suggested here:
http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184088
I also didn't reregister, and I can still get to the lobby with my old account.
Anybody has any suggestions?

the names of the tracks, which are shown, are not the names of the tracks which are running on the servers.
you have not these tracks, so the game replace their names with some you have installed on your game.

you have to find out which tracks are running and install these.

But that does not explain, why we were not able to join the game monday night, since we both had the right track installed !

The mystery remains unsolved  ???

I just noticed that I don't see any addon tracks in the lobby. All the track names are from the original set. But I do have at least 20 addon track installed. It's like GTL online suddenly doesn't see these tracks.
I have Windows 7, and I've installed GTL decrypt to get it running.
I even use a batch file to start the game a so all file names are correct.

Contents of the batch file:
Code:
forfiles /s /m *.GDB /c "cmd /c rename @fname.GDB @fname.gdb"
start GTL

If it's Windows 7 then I definately can't help you.

I'll post your problem at GTLDK. They seem to have a lot of Windows 7 know how.

I just reinstalled windows 7, installed game, installed patch, installed gtl2008 decrypt, ran decompres.bat, extracted sound fix into gtl folder, installed track, installed skinpack. Even registered again for mp. And I still can't join the server, still the same track not installed error.
We are using Sachsenring 1967 and not the other Sachsenring right?

Yes, Sachsenring 1967. Just to help you I have changed the server to load Imola and Sachsenring 1967 so you should see one or the other against UKGTL RDs

Not certain if I'll make this one.  Wife's birthday last week whilst we were away at Ypres on coach tour, mine this week - in a social whirl of visitors and meals out with friends.  Daughter and grandsons coming for weekend, then clear up the debris, tidy garden, pack and away to the heel of Italy for another coach tour.  Life is grand, if you can stand the pace.

Well that's a shame. Only got to join very late as I hadn't been online with GTL on this new PC >:(

Knew the track from testing for PnG a year back (it's quality) & grabbed an old Jag setup after rapidly giving up on the merc as it seemed completely in the wrong class on the straight... maybe I was just rubbish

I was rusty to say the least, but then Tony made a nice pass & I was actually quite pleased as I'd have someone to follow for a lap or two... then Tony was braking & I wasn't.... had to hit Esc to avoid ending both our races before the 1st lap finished :'(. Sorry if that scared you Tony :-[

Ah well, next time. Good to see a good turn out. 8)

Well that was a complete non-race, since the heavy e-type is a fair bit quicker than the Merc I assumed THAT would be the e-type allowed, but it was the lightweight e-type, which is much quicker than the standard heavy one, and so leagues ahead of the Merc.  No point even trying to compete in it.

I ain't slow but there's no way I can make up many seconds a lap car deficit!  Once Hotkeys breezed past there was no-one to race. Shame.

Cars did seem unmatched, I assumed Phil had a different plan for it.
Was having an enjoyable race, had a minor off, no damage, carreid on, them for some reason known only to my Mother I decided to try 3rd in the second left hander where I had been dropping briefly to 2nd to get the back
round, and it seems for me 3rd = lamp post, tried to carry on but car was very bent, would be 10 mins round to pits
nahh, game over.  :(

Always a bit of a butt clencher this track and no more so for me than in the E-Type. Just don't get on with them for some reason.

Running in 5th having managed to keep it neat and tidy all race, I passed a recovering Henry just as Sqter went out with only 2 laps to go. 5th to 3rd then and better than I could have hoped for. Unfortunately my concentration went as I was gong through town and I almost ended up in someones living room :o  I was lucky to get away with only a little damage, but Henry was through and gone.

Well done to the GTLDK gents and hard luck to Sqter.

Firstly, a huge thanks to all the regulars and some most welcome newcomers, who turned out tonight to produce such a nice size grid.  :thumbup1:

Secondly, that wasn't the event that Phil and I had planned  ::) All my fault I'm afraid. In pre-season testing and on paper it seemed like the perfect match, then come nearer the race and it becomes apparent that I'd dropped a major thingy. So we had a Jag fest instead. Sorry Phil. I'm determined now to produce a fixture next season that will make up for this'n.

Thirdly, Bit off a short race for me. I received a visit from Legzy's mobile bodyshop and had my rear end remodelled at the last turn. After that the handlying was even worse than when I had it setup and it was only a matter of time before I hit a viscous straw bail. Still it was great to watch those Jags being driven so expertly. Quite a pleasant way to spend an evening actually.  :)

As usual Sachsenring creates drama the whole way through. I was perfectly content to let Pelle and Sqter fight it out as they were in a whole different league as far as speed was concerned. All I did was run a pace with I was comfortable with and somehow someway the "Turtle" got to the finish first :) Truly hard luck for Sqter as he was in a whole different league with race pace. If the race was one more lap Pelle would of had it for sure as well, but I pulled another rabbit out of the hat ;) Even with Sqters hard luck a great day for GTLDK :D. Congrats Pelle for 2nd and Henry for 3rd ;) Thanks for the fun fellas :)

Report http://www.gt-legends.eu/UKGTL/Report/RDseries/Sachsenring_1967/index.html (http://www.gt-legends.eu/UKGTL/Report/RDseries/Sachsenring_1967/index.html) Note in this report I also stands with DQ  :cursing:
This was one of the best race I've participated in a long time...never think I have run Jaguar before, but this car is just me  ;D
...& a little fun here suddenly pops a Dane more up in your club, Hotkeys

Practice:
I have problems with shoulder & arm at this time, so I had to take a quick decision: Jaguar or 300SL ?...I looked at the best times of Altbierbude & here is Jaguar 5 sec faster than the 300SL  :P
Best time from Altbierbude: Jaguar E-Type: 3:00.158

Race:
Sqter on pole - perfect - & I at the second place...but take a horrendous start & lose places to NRJ & Goldtop  :o
Got quickly place back from Goldtop...Sqter drove his own race & it was a big loooonnnng race between NRJ & me, thx for fun  ;) On average, we ran 3.01 times throughout the race WOW
Sqter had problems a few laps before the finish  :'( , but Henry moves up & takes third place & GTLDK take all the seats on the podium...fantastic  ;D

Unfortunately, there was a mistake after race & I think the reason for my DQ came when we made the show after the finish line - perhaps a bug in the track - but suddenly I disappear into a hole at the exit from the pitlane  :-\

Thx to everyone at Sachsenring in funny cars  :)

Edit: Found another bug in this race
Lap by Lap
Lap 1:
Quote
demartini overtakes Phil Gilliland, Syd Drake GTL, phspok, Henry, goldtop, Navin R Johnson, Pelle Buchner, Sqter, ends the lap in position 1 and sets the fastest lap - 3:22.933
