Title: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Loch Rannoch (Short) - Sep 27
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 07, 2010, 01:14:39 PM +0100
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night ;)).

Track: Loch Rannoch (Short) download this (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54520#post_lochrannoch)
Cars allowed: Abarth 1000TC, Lotus Elite. This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 (http://www.humyo.com/9240347/SimRacing.org.uk/UKGTL/Cars/SRou_UKGTL_Skins_1.8.0.0.exe) which will need to be installed prior to racing.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: UKGTL RDs
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=253;theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Arghhh...... did every possible mistake there is, hit almost everything there is to hit at Rannoch, and got 1 stop and go for cutting - did the stop and go and then got another for speeding in the pits !

Still,  it was fun  ;D ;D

First time I've touched the wheel since my disastrous Bank Holiday Monday race - less said about that the better.  My Win 7 ukgtl has stopped working in sympathy, so I had to revert to my XP version.

Made a good start but got spun and sat facing the wrong way in the middle of the track.  Should have come in straight away to the pits but thought I'd soldier on but had to pit at the end of lap 2, which meant I was 2 laps down on the leaders by the time I rejoined.

With the lack of practice I was just happy to finish.

Don't expect I'll have time for Wednesday's Caterham race - I want to sort out my Win 7 version of GTL, expect to be at Friday's GTL - one way or another.

First off, well done to the guys who opted for the Zanussi Fiat. I actually had expected the field to be more balanced but on the night it seemed that the Lotus was the flavour of the day and I have to modestly say how well the little Lotus suited the track.

I had an eventfull race but was ruined by several S&G's for track cutting and Pit lane speeding.

Still it was fun, but a gentle reminder that overlong chat during Races is not appreciated.

Again a great track choice.. I was practicing with Fiat the night before when after trying a few sets I realized that this track was not for the Fiat.. Too many odd corner entry's that would make an already difficult car almost impossible to complete race without a spin or 2.. So I scuttled the Fiat and when with the Lotus :-\.. Glad I did as I my usual setup routine for well balanced cars worked fine and had a very good qualy lap..  In the race as usual I screwed up the start which allow Pelle and Ade to get by quickly. Then for the next few laps it was a great battle between Pelle,Ade and myself.. Can't even remember what all happened as we all had small mistakes here and there which allowed all of us to be up front for at least a corner or 2. Very close but clean racing ;) I then got a small gap because Pelle spun going into the last tight chicane which caught up Ade too :(.. From that point I just ran my lines and hoped I wouldn't make a big mistake. Very impressive with those last couple of laps of Ade,Pelle and Dario had their best laps on the second to last lap ;) Jose even had his best on the last lap :D. Kind of nice not to have the 3x tire wear like we have had in GTLDK Le Mans series which makes a fast lap at the end impossible.
A big congrats to Ade and Phil for there great podiums and all the rest for finishing a tricky place ;D
And thank you Tony for as always putting together a great event :D Cheers

This was a tough track. The Elite is my kind of car and after a few laps I thought I'd be well on the pace here, but I struggled all night. I just about kept pace with the front 3 for the first few laps but was having to push too hard and lost it under braking at the ruins. From then on I decided to drive a conservative race to bag a few points towards the championship.

Congrats to pody  8)
