Title: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Mexico 67 - Oct 11
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 08, 2010, 07:01:39 PM +0100
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night ;)).

"A late entry from Mr Pribeiro, but most welcome nevertheless. Who'd of guessed, CSL's"  ;)

All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (26 laps = ~50 mins)

Track: Mexico 67 Download this (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg81636#post_mexicocity67)
Cars allowed:  BMW CSL's only. This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 (http://www.humyo.com/9240347/SimRacing.org.uk/UKGTL/Cars/SRou_UKGTL_Skins_1.8.0.0.exe) which will need to be installed prior to racing.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: UKGTL RDs
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=253;theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Ran a race at this track last Sunday with a US based P&G league. I ran in the black Falcon Weslake. That thing was a lumbering beast around this very cool circuit. The BMW's should be really nice around here.

Loved the track in GPL. This version has some apparently variable/very sensitive cut tracks. I did 12 laps and could not manage
a time due to cut tracks somewhere or other, sometimes inthe 1st turn, sometimes the 1st chicane, sometimes elsewhere.
no need to put a wheel on the grass on the inside or anything dodgy, just put one wheel into the white line part of the track is enough at times.

Hmm, when I tested this track I don't recall any cuts. If it's a real problem we can turn cuts off.

Maybe it's worse off line, or I'm just being more carefull. Some corners you can use the full width past the white line, some you can't.
inside of the white line at T1 is a constant cut track. 1st chicane is a maybe. I would prefer not to allow unscrupulous racers
to take grass on the inside (or any other substances) so I'm happy to play safe. It may be in the heat of battle some will slide
innocently wide and go too tight on the next corner through the twisty bits...

Check out Goodwood revival 2010. Martin Brundle in an Austin A35! serious stuff.

WOW. Just banged in 15-20 laps & it's a corka!

I agree with Matt that there are a two or three places where the cut tracks are over harsh (particularly on the out side of some corners ???), but it's a truly fab track & is perfect for the CSL 8)

Come on then, tell me how far of pace I am with a 2:01? :scooter:

Well, my own race and I didn't make a single lap yet.  ::)
I guess I have to wait untill 20.00 tonight.  ;D
Can someone please, tell me where is the thread about the new line we must add to a file to be able to play online?
Thank you.

Not sure I know about that one Paulo. Only thing that fits that bill from recent times is the fix to see the online folders.

2:00.4 best so far with race fuel and some very selective white line taking.

It was something to do with add a few letters after a '}' I believe, can't remember if it was in .PLR file.

So why I have 1 GTL install with several addon tracks showing online and the other 2 installations only can see Mondello and Hockenheim tracks showing online servers?
I am sure it was something recently that had to be done. Help please.  :)

Anyone?

Didn't the bude address change a few weeks ago when they bought the domain or something saimilar? I'll have a dig around later if no-one comes to the rescue.

Could just be a conspiracy to keep you out Paulo, as you're far too quick in that CSL ;D

Edit: OK, think this is it....

LOL....

I wait for any help, thanks GT. However, I had a look at lunch time to my 3 GTL installations LOBBY text and they are all with a same IP address, but only one is working perfectly online (I can see several tracks). The other 2 are showing only Mondello and Hockenheim....odd.

Hmm, I'm not so sure that's the fix Paulo needs. I'm sure he's raced GTL since that fix happened. But I do recall Syd Drake and I think Hotkeys having a similar problem after Altbeirthing re-booted their server or somesuch. I think that was early September?
I'll have a look.

EDIT: Found this

Syd/Hotkeys, so sorry that you guys missed the race. I believe this problem is only affecting some people and it's due to Altbeirbude changing their server or something. Some folk don't have to do anything and they join, others have to use a fix. I'll have a look at GTLDK for a fix, please watch this space.

EDIT: Make a backup of your existing files then try this

The Altbierbuden-Lobby has switched to a new server.
So you have to change your LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.txt in your main GTL folder.
remove the line

gtl-lobby.bierbuden.de

replace with

91.121.7.48

restart the game, you should then arrive at the correct lobby

Yep... I had the same problem. The funny thing is, that I never changed anything !

the names of the tracks, which are shown, are not the names of the tracks which are running on the servers.
you have not these tracks, so the game replace their names with some you have installed on your game.

you have to find out which tracks are running and install these.

But that does not explain, why we were not able to join the game monday night, since we both had the right track installed !

The mystery remains unsolved  ???

Like I said, really nice match up of car/track, just a shame I hardly had anyone to race with the whole race.

Was catching TJ(?) for the last quarter of race by over 1.5 secs per lap, but once I caught him I bumped him when I think he was being held up in the hair pin by PR lapping us :-\ & I realised I couldn't just take the corner as i had every other lap. Sorry about that :-[

Think we'd have had a great last couple of laps, but as I was following TJ(?) closely through the T2 chicane you just stopped dead & I walloped you from behind. What happened, did you catch a tyre? :-\ They caught me out loads in practice ::)

Congrats to podiums & see y'all next time. :)

Not a pleasant race. Impatient and aggressive driving with plenty of contact and corner cutting from one particular driver . Report submitted.

I had a great race battling with you GT ;). And I thought that Tony was pretty clear about corner cutting being OK for this race. There are a lot of area's where you would get a sng if you did it too much so the track would be the marshal for this one.. Like Jarama79 it has those big sections of track on either side that are too easy to run on and it would be a nightmare to judge tracks like that... As far as aggressive driving... that's a whole other matter  :(.

This was definitely not your race...a little sad to give others the blame for it  ::)

Practice:
I hate this car  ;D

Qual:
WoW - Starts in second place...it was a surprise  :D

Race:
Terrible start, my gearbox is completely wrong...all pass  :o My setup is rather perfect in the turns where I can win placements back...this really gives a fun & close race.  :thumbup1:
Unfortunately it was lost again on the straights, where people drove past without any problem & I could do nothing.
New record, 4xDane on server, but none on podium  ???
...& something new, no gold for Team GTLDK, but an impressive second place for Sqter, big Grats.
Grats to Paulo - fantastic race & to Ade  :thumbup2:

Fun race. Lost a couple of places getting out of Tony's way with his kamikaze blast up the inside
at the 1st corner  :o Made a pass into the chicane after the hairpin and got tapped into a spin
and over the bank we went, go to the back Mr Rowe, caught the field back up and lost it myself
avoiding ramming, then spent the last half of the race with a most excellent dual with
Di Martini, his Alpina was much quicker in the 1st and last corners, my schnizer had the legs
down the straight, two abreast round the last corner several times without contact, great stuff  8)
Watched PR after he lapped me, and his pace was unreal, wayyyy more traction out of corners
and at least as fast in. ALien speed Paulo.  ;D

No problems at all with your driving at all Navin; fair and patient unlike Pelle who has now chosen to identify himself, but try to put the blame on me for this. The Scnitzer was awful in the corners, while the Alpinas were all over me. The difference is Pelle resorted to cutting and forcing his way through while Navin found his way through. The replay says it all.

I wonder If Paulo's seen this yet  :D

http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=29557

I saw it, downloaded it and tested it for 5 laps after last night's race. Very nice mod.
I must say that the Nissan KGC110 GT-X , Ford Capri Perana V8, Ford Cortina MKI Perana, Fiat 850 Coupé, Ferrari 365 GTB, Opel Commodore GS and Ford Escort RS1600 are quite good aswell.  ;)

A good race last night, didn't have time to practice, so I went for this one with a stiff setup (as usual  ::)), a good balance in rear suspension allowed me to exit corners quite well. Finished race with front left tire at 49 wear.  :o And I messed with the fuel, I had fuel in tank for another race when I finished... ;D
I love this track since GPL old days. Well, in fact I love all GPL track layouts and now there are plenty of them, Reims anyone?  ;)

Congrats to all finishers.

Cheers

P.S. I have done the change to LOBBY.txt with the IP number on the other two GTL installations without success, I still see several servers all with Mondello and Hockenheim tracks. I don't wanna hear about Mondello and Hocks for a few years now please.  ;D

Despite being lapped twice, and finishing at the last position, was a funny night. I finally chose the Alpina as i felt more comfortable on it, also the setup that firstly did for the Schnitzer worked better on the Alpina with some minor changes. It allowed me to start from 6th position, anyway i did a mistake at the start that cost me few positions, and after other mistakes i found myself on no-one's land. Little by little i caught phspok (Matt??) with whom i had some funny laps  ;)
Drove over those things semi-buried on the corners and did other mistakes that finally pushed me to the last position.

Grats to Paulo, Sqter and Ade!

Yes.. I figured this would be the Paulo show. As a master of the CSL he was in a whole different league in this race ;) It sure looked like Sqter and Ade had a great battle too. My XD worked the whole way through for a change and those guys were glued together it seemed. I couldn't keep up with any of the top three but had a nice close battle with GT. I went with a way too short 5th gear and really paid for it on the front straight but somehow was able to gap GT enough throught the S's to get away a bit . Then just cruised the rest of the way ;D. A big congrats to Paulo.. Was great to see you again as we have been missing your presence :) Also great job to Sqter and Ade. You guys really were hooked up and fast :o

hello all .. it is my 1st post on ukgtl :)

it was my second time on mexico 67 ... and it is a fantastic track, we should more often race there

I was lucky much  .. I had the good start and the rest at the back competed with each other ... and i could to enlarge majority .... but by mistake I tank on full (39laps)  and then again lucky smiled to me :) Ade  chose  too long gearbox .. and couldn't overtake me, even though was faster

and  again I had much fun (thx Ade)  ..  great race...  Paulo was one class higher ... grats :)
thx and grats all
