Title: UKGTL Season 10 Great German Touring Challenge - AVUS - Oct 18
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 10, 2010, 07:24:58 PM +0100
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night ;)).

Cars allowed: BMW 320i Download this (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_bmw320ie21g5), BMW CSL, Ford Capri RS 3100, Ford Escort RS 2000, Porsche 911 RSR, Porsche 914-6. Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: 2x
Fuel consumption: 2x

Server: UKGTL GGTC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=257;theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: The pit entrance lane is on the right hand side of the track before the banked turn. Once in the pit's ask for directions  ;D

Yes Henry, one of the deliberate mistakes that I sprinkle in to test that the announcements are being read. But can you spot the others?

Now fixed.

If you intend to race please download both skinpacks and install the BMW 320i even if you don't intend to drive it.

Thanks for the heads up Matt. I've provided an alternative link.

Remember that if the end of the downloaded file shows as {number} (but square brackets) simply delete that part and replace with .exe

Blast down the motorway, turn round at the services, blast back up the motorway turn round at
the services... repeat a few times. Maybe there will be some draughting, or we could throw
tins of coke between cars, that's always a good game on the M1

The capri evil 1st gear should not be an issue here  :D

I always enjoy your input Matt  :D

Capri's faster I think but all that time on the limiter; It will surely blow-up?

The 320's slower but built to last. And is the Porsche 911 going to suprise us all?

Not run a lap yet as I couldn't download it earlier. I'll check out gearing before the race.
Could be just that aliens exit corners faster than I can, but I think the Capri is only slightly faster
on a long straight than the 2.0, and the CSL is the same I thought..

It loses about 3% engine life per lap, that means at the start the engine will need to be well over 100% to be safe. Expect to see lots of Capris rapidly shuttling between the pits and the start line in an attempt to get a good motor reading. I've run engines down as far as 20% before now but of course the thing may blow up after a few laps, regardless of life remaining.

That was a tense race all the way through. Mostly because of the 3% loss of car health per lap.. Myself Pelle and Phil where all lifting a bit here and there to try and make it to the end. So the gap was constantly changing. I save on one lap... See that Pelle closed alot on that lap so the next I hold it to the floor for the whole lap to gain a bit of a gap again.. Went that way the whole way through the race so it was actually pretty engaging race. A little past 3/4 through I started having frame rate problems :o If it was any other track I would of been sunk for the win at least. Cleared up during the 2nd stop so I got lucky :). In the end I was at 28% health so I think all Capri guys that finished did an excellent job managing their cars.. Congrats to Pelle for finishing 2nd and Phil for a solid 3rd place spot. Thanks fellas for the fun ;)..

Big Grats NRJ, this was a dream result for Team GTLDK...we took the first & second place, but what happened to third place  :D Grats Phil  8)
...& look at this: We in GTLDK have won Team Championship...no one can reach us - Big Thx & grats to you all.

This was really a race where it was about getting the engine to keep the entire race! In the middle of the race, I wrote '8' & I hoped everyone understood I was at lower revs.
The only fault I did the race, the second pit stop I took a lap too early & was also nervous about whether I had enough fuel for the rest of the race...but perfect

Good bit'o fun  :)
I seem to keep being in the wrong place at the wrong time in these races. Decent start, then got pushed to one side as people jostled for position,  allowing others to catch, turned in to the
hairpin behind team mate Phil, and was smacked into from behind by a spinning Porche who had
been hit at high speed himself by someone who seemed to be heading for Potsdam and wasn't
stopping for the race  :o . Took some aero damage but seemed right enough, worked out that
I would not be able to get away with one stopping, so took 2nd stop early with 10 to go
4th was as good as I could have managed as Phil was consistantly faster. 3rd and 4th was a good
result for the team though. 8)

Well, what can i say... this was really disappointing to me. Started from the back, but as the schnitzer power were emerging, i could overtake some cars before arriving at the 180° turn 8) Unfortunately, missed the braking point as i was taking a look at the rearview mirror. As a result i was about to make a BIG mess, therefore i could do no other thing than press ESC key just before wrecking other cars, race over for me  :-[

Good start. Overtook two cars.
But when I was in the middle of the braking for the hairpin of 180 º was beaten by harley  :o , and unfortunately I hit phspok  :(
I had to pit to repair the car and I lost 2 minutes.
From then on I dedicated myself to spin and tried to reach Tony. I overtook it, but 3 laps later I made a mistake and goodbye race.

Grats Navin , Pelle and Phil for the podium.
