All members welcome

There will not be a qualifying session for this race. Starting order is determined reversing the average finish position found in this  spreadsheet (http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AgyClStz4uopdE43MkNGdmd0ME9ocnJ4YktNZVlkUHc&hl=en).
Please do not go out on track during the qualifying session. Your grid order will be set by the administrator manually.
New drivers to the series will start at the rear of the field.

Cars allowed: Alfa Romeo GTA Volumetrico

Time of Day Setting: 13:00
Weather: Dry
Start: Standing

Tyre wear: 1X
Fuel consumption: 1X
Pit-stops: none required

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=227)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function. You may go as fast as you like in the pits, but please exercise caution. Penalties will be handed out for causing contact in the pit lane. Use your best judgement when making your pitstop during the race.

I'll not make this as I should be somewhere near Lemans but I'd thought I'd just pipe up and say I approve of the format :) Hope you have fun.

I have virtually no experience with the Volumetrico, but the Gamers Crib P&G2 Fun Race two days before this is at Brands Hatch 2005. The list of Group A cars that are used in Race 1 includes the Volumetrico, so if anyone here would like to take this as an opportunity for race practice, then feel free to join us.

The Fun Race format is the same as the main World Sprint League, so check out the following thread at Gamers Crib...

The official race thread...

Mogget. It looks like the race thread at Gamer Crib is refering to the Alfa GTA 1300. The Volumetrico is the hopped up and lightened Alfa GTA 1600. I just want to ensure guys are practicing with the correct car.

Mike,

We have two races in each event. They are both roughly 25 minutes long. Race 1 uses the Group A cars, and this list includes the Volumetrico. Race 2 uses the Group B cars, and this includes the 1300GTA Junior. You are all welcome to join us for both races, but you will only be able to drive the Volumetrico in Race 1  :)

The first post in the P&G2 World Sprint League Schedule thread includes a list of the Group A and Group B cars.

Just going by where PnG put my replay I would say that the server is not running the UKGTR version of Brands 2005.

Which version are we going to be using?

I thought that the Volumetrico was a nightmare on the default setup but I think I have something that I can drive now.

1:47.2 at the minute.  Anyone else done a lap?

Don't like Paddock in this thing.  It is attracted to the barrier on the outside.

Clive,

Mike told me that the lasercutter version of Brands Hatch 2005 is being used.

I should have checked for a UKGTR version of the track. I'm reluctant to change now as others have already started practicing.

Your link on the race announcement takes you to the UKGTR track.  Surely that is what people are practicing with.  I did.

Then I went on line and found it was different.

Just done the UK Donni track tonight (having done it 100 times before too) & yet again was reminded how stupid the cut track warnings are there. Way over sensitive. ::)

If the weather stays alright I'll be on a hot air balloon flight somewhere out in the sticks later in the afternoon tomorrow and probably won't be back on time for the race.

Hi guys! Yesterday I tried a bit with Ayrton's setup, and the car was really good! I can give you some suggestion about setup. Put an asimmetric Tyres pressure between left and right tyres. Left tires has to be much more inflated (320 front-260 rear) than right tyres (210front-200 rear). Hard rear springs (35-40) and 60-70 on the front.  Caster 6; Power 20-30% Coast 70-80%; anti roll bar 2.20.
Hope that it will be useful guys :) Cu later!

LOL No wonder that I struggle against you people.

I have one tyre at the correct pressure and after that it's all cobblers.

My set up (Stop laughing at the back)
Front Tyres   320 kPa
Rear Tyres    300 kPa
Rear springs    25 N/mm
Front Springs   40 N/mm
Caster            7.0 deg
Power        70%
Coast         10%
Front ARB    1.6

I give in.

Guys... Work has been quite brutal on my lately. I must go into New York City again today. That will be 3 days this week, but I must remind myself I have a job and shouldn't complain much. I wish I could participate in the test to see first hand how close the racing is and try the grid order process. I have faith Gold Top will orgainize things smoothly.

Keep in mind a couple things...
1. Do not go out on track during the quali session. Gold Top will set the grid order manually.
2. Remember it is a long race (40 minutes). If you are in fact faster than the guy in front, be patient. Do not force your way through. He is likely trying to do the same with the guy in front of him so don't blow his race trying to get to the front immediately.

Drivers not on the spreadsheet will start at the rear of the field. If there are more than 1, then sort alphabetical Z-A (keeping with reverse theme).

Enjoy the race!

10% Coast Clive? When you're going to brake and downshift the sensation must be that of a Kayak in the middle of Atlantic sea  !!! Not so stable i guess... Isn't it  ???

Oh... don't forget to vote for the car set preference for next season's handicap series starting June 17th. I need to put the cherry on top of the track selection this weekend so the voting closes today. The ankle biters are leading by slim margin over the GT cars so if your heart is in GT, be sure to vote.

LOL  Stability is for wimps!

At least the nose will come around when I lift in the corner.

I have struggled from day one to get any of these cars to turn. at all!

I don't hit brakes and gear shift at the same time.  That is a certain "off" but once the brakes have started to do their stuff I'm ok.

Having only briefly seen how this is done and without having the opportunity to practice setting the grid order.........what could possibly go wrong ::)

If I make a complete hen of it, please be prepared to revert to a standard quali session of 20 mins.

Isn't that program the GTR2  Dedicated server Manager 1.0?  If yes, me or Ayrton can give you a little help to re-order the grid as you want.

Guess i am at the back as i was away for last weeks race? Not sure i like the idea of no qually session. ??? Its going to make it very hard to make up any places in identical cars, other than those who bin it.

You won't be at the back MJ as the grid order will be determined from your position on the spreadsheet in the first post. Only drivers who have not driven here before in PnG will start at the back.

Despite being punted up the rear & losing my suspension in the process :-X (losing me a lap in the pits while I repaired) on about lap 3, I did still quite enjoy making my return to PnG after a month off.

I think I would have done quite well tonight if it had not been for that one moment, maybe top 5 even... but instead I got to drive round on my own at the back.

Cheers.

Sorry Clive :-[ Everytime I thought I was in a postion to overtake my internet connection would get lag, and your car would move eratically towards me giving me no time to react.
Going to sort out Orange Broadband once and for all >:(.... and change to BE instead. :) (I hope!)
Sorry again.

Apart from those irritating moments, I quite enjoyed our little push to the front of the grid.
Looking forward to the new season now...bring it on!!!

a not so glorious return to sim racing  :P

Set 2nd fastest time in the practise session and thought i was on for a good race. But then the, ahem, FIA, re-ordered the grid and found myself 8th.  :-X

Race start was a bit chaotic, still a few trying to win the race in the first 3 corners  ::) but i managed to avoid getting hit or hitting a spinning car ahead somehow. Then thought it would shake out into its natural path of talent  :whistling: and appeared so with some of my regular combatants about me. Alas on lap 5 my pc went juddery shuddery and thought it was all over, but then remembered my pc fan switch was on tick over instead of lightwarp 2 to keep it cool during simming. As i tried to reach the switch i got cramp in my left foot !   ..comedy drive time as i hit the right hand wall and then the left hand wall and dropped about 3 places with suspension and body damage  :'(

I thought i was then doomed to a whole race of empty track as the top 10 were 15-20 seconds up the road and likewise the bottom 7 or so but Tibs came to the rescue and battled my injured Alfa for the remainder of the race. Fortunately i crossed the line before him and the battle was won  :fencing:  :)

Annoyed i had the pc problem but just caught out as have been away for a couple of weeks, otherwise would have had a good old scrap with Ade, Matt and Goldtop up front-ish i think.

Thought the Alfa Volumetrico was great feisty car, albeit heaps of understeer. First time ive used it in P&G.

Congrats to Ayrton on stunning pace and great win.  :thumbup1:

No problem Lazlow, the second one was my fault.  I probably did leap towards you because my fingers twitched and gave me another down shift.

It was fun but I was quite glad it wasn't for points.  It's a format that should keep the incident moderators busy.

Thanks for waiting and sorry for taking so long to get out of the gravel.  I thought the problem was going to be stopping myself from using the clutch instead of the brake.  As it happens, I was sat in the kitty litter with my foot firmly clamped on the brake and wondering why I couldn't get the engine to do anything about getting me back on track.

Sorry to whoever was leading.  I though you were Eddie until you started flashing your lights.

PS  So we didn't use the UKGTR track then.
