Cars allowed: Either any GT1 or any of the LMP Mod that is currently being tested (see here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7966.msg141963#msg141963) for info on what mod) - I'll let you know...
Either way, it will be our first test of UKGTR2 test at Paul Ricard. But just to confirm, this race might be our first test race of the LMP mod we're looking at (see here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7966.msg141963#msg141963))... but we might not be ready by that point, in which case it will be a race with our GT1 class.

It will basically be decided by how popular/well done the mod proves to be to anyone helping out with the testing for us (feel free to help via that thread).

I'll make the decision ASAP to give all a chance to practice in the right cars. :)

This of course is presuming we have permission to use their mod in our league? Just checking? They were advertising for their league on our site a while ago so its a bit of a slap in the face if we pinch it from them.

surely the ideal solution would be to offer them an invitation to race with us or even against us in some inter league enduro series ! That way everybodys happy and we get to race the French  :)

When i saw this race announced mentioning the possibility of running that mod i assumed someone had already made an effort to contact them or else how could we even consider running it. The fact that no has so far is worrying.

Chicken, meet egg. If nobody had liked it there wouldn't have been any point even contemplating contacting them.

LMPs or GT1, either way I like this track  :) There are some great braking areas into blind off camber chicanes, which when I occasionally get them right are very rewarding. Having learnt the track in the Radical, stepping into the C6R was less daunting for me. If we can run proper GT1 tracks like this I'll definitely be up for a season.

anyone have any ideas what race pace might be in the GT1's?

Race - 2.02.500ish

I'm lapping at 2 mins with race setup in the C6-R but imagine the pace at the front will be at least 5 secs quicker.

Shame about the LMPs; perhaps we can still give them a try out before the new season.

5 secs   :o pesky aliens..

I'm not keen on this track tbh, easy to forget where abouts you are because of all the blue lines.

not sure yet if i can make this  :( hope so, but have bbq and beers in the day which doesnt bode well for evening racing  :P

Are we using GT1 from this new mod pack or the same old set ? Dont see why we couldnt have used a few LMP's as well as its just a test race, as long as we cover both classes for testing purposes.

I think short term memory loss increases with heat!

We will be using our GT1's as, i assume, nobody asked for permission to use them.

struggling to get the hang of this track, that last section is a nightmare. Tried the C6R but was struggling to get the front to turn in, Saleen was a bit better but only did two laps so really i guess i'll pick the car on sunday night! Have to say car choice in GT1 isnt that exciting!

I think any car struggles here, have a feeling that the track just doesn't do the grip correctly. Tried several other GT1 cars and all of them struggle with turn in. Never liked this track anyways. That said, it doesn't mean the race will be bad. :)

Gt1 are my least favourite class too mate, but I have found the Lister the easiest to drive over time. :-\
it's the biggest group With 13 cars to choose from, hopefully you'll find something you're happy with.
TT swears the Marcos is fun

I for one am going to try a car I've not done before... Not sure which yet!

Intend to be on the server tonight about 8:30pm 9pm+ if anyones about. :)

certainly agree the LMP2 should be the extra class added if we can get permission / internal support.

Gonna try the Lambo for this meet for a change... the V12 go kart  ;D

Finally got some laps in here. Tricky, very technical track with all sorts of corner and camber challenges. Until you put in a fair few laps you feel disorientated as to where you are on track and still easy to forget what corner is coming up if your mind wanders  :P

I will probably dust off the Legends Maserati if i can make this.

2:02 with race fuel for me so far. Problem with the massa is it needs loads of rear wing so i will probably get trumped on the straights. Cool car though  8)

Can I assume it's the C6R that is 1+ secs quicker here Busi?
Any idea if it's still 1sec quicker at somewhere like Valencia?

The idea of balancing is to be balanced over a selection of tracks & including pitstop requirements... before we get too far off topic ;)

(There is a next season balancing thread HERE (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=8032.0), where I'd love to hear the thoughts of :alien:'s like yourself)

C6R faster than Lambo, yes. And I know about that topic, my post was only about this track in particular (where the difference could be a little higher than in other places).

After this race though I will try to test both cars again in Valencia as you suggested, maybe tomorrow, and will post test results in there :)

A good race on a track I'm starting to like.  :) The width of track and the long tricky corners certainly provide an opportunity for some good close action.

I started the race ok but made a big mistake during the early laps and ended up towards the back of the field.  :'( I then joined goldtop as we both worked our way back up to the midfield pack. Some great clean battles throughout the race. At one stage there was four of us all fighting for position on the last two corners.  :o

Congrats to the podium. Thanks to all who raced tonight.  :)

Well I'm chuffed, because that was the biggest attendance for a UKGTR2 race since 28th March! :o

It was also a good showing of a range of different cars, though for some reason, this is the 1st track I've known that suited the CR6 (& didn't a few of us take advantage ;D)

I really liked the track, it did seem to have a little less grip then most we use, but it was consistent right round & certainly offered some different challenges to some other tracks we use. (& it had a nice use of Blue scenery )

Shocked to qually 3rd & even more shocked to be keeping up 'comfortably' with Ruskus (even if he was in the Viper ;)) for at least 5 laps. But then I started to feel the presure from Busi & my soft (:-[) tyres starting to get a bit slidy already. After one too many lairy moments from me, I flashed him by & just kept up till I had a moment braking for the new chichane on the back straight which let Lazlow make up 3 secs & get through.

Chased Lazlow hard from then & got my reward with 5 laps to go when he enjoyed the same moment at the same place I had earlier :P. So I just needed to keep my chariot going for about 4 laps with a 2 sec cusion.

We were almost side by side by the end of that lap  & it was looking like my tyres on 29.5 were just not going to last when....... Laz got confused about what corner we were at. As I broke hard while he accelerated, I was mullered me from behind, killing my engine & losing me my podium (& he limped round to steal it for himself, booo ;))! I don't care, I had a wicked race & time practicing for it.

Thanks all & see you at St Petersburg (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=8078#event2209)  :thumbup1:

note to self:- when suddenly feeling extremely hot from afternoon in sun with bbq and beers, dont attempt to pull t-shirt over head at 150mph in a GT1 car...it will stick you into a wall....hard  ::) Ended my race far too early. :-[

Was off the pace anyway as wasnt cutting as fast as most of you.  :P Got upto 12th at one point and enjoyed a dice with a few but my be-winged Maserati was hopelessly outgunned on the few straights.

Seems i missed out on the 'softs' trick too. Wondered why my rear meds only had 4 wear !

Nice to have more people on a server again - hope this the positive sign for the season 13. :)
Decided in a last moment to jump into Ford GT. Didn't do any laps in it since the season 8 I think. Since I couldn't find grip in any of the cars (Marcos, C6R, F550, Lister - was ok, kind of) I decided to take the Ford for which I had very well balanced setup. Did minimum adjustments and got the fastest laptime so far. Which was not fast. :D  Run out of time, so just put meds on and a full tank. Had a few litres to spare at the end. ::)

Car was ok-ish driving wise, though this track doesn't suit me and I had slow laptimes compared to most. Managed to make fewer mistakes, I guess and fended off some attacks in the last minutes. GT1 class in fun. :)

What a tense race that was last night. Started in 7th and was bumper to bumper with Jose A, for about 10 laps or so
swapping places with him every few corners. Then I tapped him from behind and spun him round (Sorry for that Jose).
after waiting for Jose to right himself and get going again, Terry had taken up the slack and over take us both.
At this point I started to fall a bit behind Jose who was pushing hard to regain his position from Terry, He caught Terry back up and
then the battle between them two hotted up for a couple of laps, I used this time to catch them back up and eventually with them two coming together gave me a chance to sneak past both of them.   :D

In the last 5-6 laps of the race it was a 3 car train to the end with all 3 of us swapping places regularly. The last lap Terry was up front of the train I was in the middle and Jose was right behind me.
On the second to last corner I stuck one up the inside of Terry when his back end stepped out and the position was mine! Terry fell back into Jose which gave just enough space to get round the last bend and over the finish line, Where we were all rewarded 1 extra position as Leggzy was now out of the race.

Considering I didn't like this track to start with, that was without doubt the best race I have ever been in.

Thanks to the organisers, Jose and Terry for a great 40 min battle and congratulations to the podium sitters.

One of those epic battles at the front, Jeff vs me

Pre-race: I had been lapping in the Lambo here but not managing to lap any faster than in the mid 1:59's (always race setup). Then saw Gazza doing a middle 1:57 in the C6R and thought I had to give it a try. Had done very few laps in this car, but I soon managed to do a high 1:57 (race setup as well), so there came my assumption that the difference between both cars is huge. But as I said I'm gonna test them again in Valencia, see whats going on.

As we went into quali I was still thinking about using the Lambo for the race, but I saw mid 57's in quali and with a good lap that I did I had a mid 58 I think, so with Jeff at the front I thought I would need a better car to fight him - and I did want to fight him ;D so I finally took the C6R.

Race: Started in 4th which was 3rd after Gazza unluckily jumped the start I guess. I was behind Legzy who was keeping the pace nicely - soft tyres? shame about that mate, with meds you would've been there for more laps - and Jeff in the lead couldn't pull away in the Viper.

After a few laps we had a nice fight with Legzy, I took his place but then he retook 2nd. Then he went wide and let me by - cheers :P

Started the chase on Jeff, I did my fastest lap of the race, a high 57 as I had done in practice. I was soon over him but I knew that any overtaking attempt was gonna have to be in one of those complex corners, cause the top speed of the Viper is not possible to match.

I tried everything to put some pressure on him and even attempt to overtake in those long left handers around the outside, but the few times I was almost gonna do it Jeff covered the position perfectly. I had watched the real race a few hours earlier and I knew it was easy to hit him if I wasn't careful, just as a few real drivers did there. We are all better than them ;)

On the last lap I went a bit more aggressive cause I was running out of corners, and unluckily tapped Jeff. Of course though I waited and he took victory. Gotta say congrats to you Jeff, defending the way you did in the Viper was amazing!

Good to see that good amount of drivers again. Hopefully we can keep it up in season 13 :D

Good fun in the vette last night. I did my usual 360 at the end of lap1 just to make it more entertaining  ;D and rejoined in last.  :wetfish:

Had a nice chase back up the field with some good clean racing. Still struggling to keep these GT1 cars under control, particularly in the slower corners like into the s/f straight where I was guilty of running wide several times  I must say though that on the right track, I do enjoy these more than the slower cars.

Hope the vette doesn't get nobbled too much if at all. I'm not usually hard on tyres, but even on mediums I was getting a bit slidey towards the end.

Mazza is well hard to drive for me. :-X

Nice track. I saw no testing issues.  :)

Nice turn out, I hope this keeps up. 8)

It was a shame that Gazza jumped the start. Again. ::)
