Looking forward to this. After avoiding recent races at VIR & Infineon, it feels like ages since I've raced here. :'(
Love Watkins :thumbup1:

Yeah - I'm not tired of racing here yet - even after hobbling round in the DP :D

Really looking forward to this one though, hoping it provides a fitting finale to the season.  Been thoroughly enjoyable.

That's a shame Martin, we've had some good scraps this season :)

It's been a fantastic season Pops, really enjoyed it!
Thanks for organising it!
Unfortunately I will be on the island of Skomer for a few days... only facilities are a solar panel for minimal power and a cooker!
No mobile phone or tinternet! :)
If the weather turns bad you have to wait til the boat can dock to pick you up and there is only the food you took! available! :)
Should be fun!

Have fun guys!

Lol another combo i swear we've done before but cant see any evidence of it. The long corners suit me and the car doenst feel like its going to lose grip all the time like the DP and using the brands setup felt a bit much on rails. I've only done a 47.5, i assume most peeps will be in the 45's. Any times so i can get used to the depression of being so far back? ;D

First flying lap...1:46.2, although have to be carefull letting off the throttle in the fast corners (that's all of them at Watkins in this car!) as my rear end is very loose. May do some more practice before Monday, but just too damned hot at the moment.

1:46.6 for me but an optimal of 1:45.8 so there's a bit more to come. That's with race fuel.

Managed a 46.8 yesterday somehow, with fuel.

Will there be a practise server tonight?

I find with high downforce I can drive a lap pretty quick, but with low downforce I can gain up to 1 second up the hill and down the first main straight ALONE, so low downforce will be good for overtaking and with high downforce you'll be a sitting duck. Not sure about ultimate lap time though as you do make up a lot with extra speed through corners and braking later.

So I've gone for a compromise setup with medium downforce which has good balance with decent straight line but also half decent in corners. Optimim is 1:44.8 but I couldn't possibly acheive that, so my best on Q fuel is down to 1:45.5 now. No idea about race fuel, I guess add a second, maybe less as there is so much flat out.

Race fuel, low to mid 1:45's, it's stable and easy to drive.  Don't know about qually pace yet.  It's going to have to do :)

I came to the same conclusion Simon. My optimum says 1.44.5 but I couldn't break the 1.45 barrier on the practice server tonight.

Sorry I couldn't join you last night, I've enjoyed the practice sessions the last few weeks. I've had a bit of a stomach bug the last couple of days which left me a little short of enthusiasm, hopefully I'll be OK to go tonight.

Some great times being posted, I got down to a 1:46.2 in the end (race fuel).

I'm so disappointed to finish the season like that :'(

A super qualifying session put me in 5th, moved up to 4th on lap 1 then unbelievably held Darren off for 6 laps and not too far behind James and John.

John made a mistake and slid on the exit of the chicane, I lifted ever-so-slightly to make sure I avoided him, it must have been exactly at the wrong time, the car started to spin and I couldn't catch it, sliding into the barrier. Game over.

Gutted is not the word.

(and no, that hasn't convinced me resets are a good idea! ;D)

Wasnt happy with qually, just couldnt get round a lap as the car felt different. Knew i'd been a second quicker during practise.

Had a good run on Pete out of the first corner but had to just stay behind and wanted to just keep out of the way and not run into the back of him through the 2nd/3rd corners but it meant i was out of position compared to normal and turned in and got onto the curb on the inside of 3 which spun me around. Seemed to be carrying more wing than Legzy but was happy to spend a few laps behind him as there wasnt a huge difference in speed and we were going to have a good race. Just a silly mistake, Any one mention overdriving and i'll hit them!!

Bloody annoying. One of the few tracks i enjoy and am comfortable driving around.

Not the finale I was hoping for :(

Couldn't get it together in qually, and after a few exciting moments in the first couple of laps it was pretty dull.  I had to take some evasive action into the chicane to avoid rear ending TT, and I think that in turn cocked up Ade :(.

I stayed with TT for a few laps, but when Pops span I lost concentration, ran over the grass on the chicane exit and got black flagged.  It seemed to take an age to clear, and by then my chance of staying with TT was gone.

A silly spin dropped me back after incidents in front brought Mike and TT near me, and with big gaps in front and behind that was that.

Oh dear.

Qualified well in 3rd.  Got a good run on John at the start and went sailing past my brake point for the chicane.  Was well down when I rejoined on the end of the battle with Ken and Shark.  Managed to pass Ken and set about Shark.  I just couldn't get a good opening and after many laps of frustration, I finally got an opportunity into T1....

... Which I messed up by locking a wheel, sliding into Shark.  Unfortunately Ken ended up hitting our spinning cars and was eliminated :(

Amazingly the car was still driveable.  Finished 5th.  Probably one of my worst performances.  :-[

Really pleasing way to end the season.

With 3 minutes to go in qually I was 1st with a small advantage over John.  Decided to have one last run just in case and very glad I did.  By my last lap I was 3rd but did enough on that lap to snatch pole back by 2/10ths.

Got a good start and opened up a 2-3 second gap over the first lap.  James had nipped by John and I think their battle gave me a chance to pull the lead out to around 4-5 after 8 laps or so.  Not sure what happened behind but suddenly I was 8 secs ahead of Darren.  Concentrated on maintaining the gap and keeping on the road with some less than stunning, but consistent laps.  A very dull, but ultimately very enjoyable season finale.

Thanks all for a great season, hope our next Mazda odyssey is just as good.

PS, Grats to John on the championship, whose mid season dominance really paid off.

Also, congrats (begrudgingly ;)) to Team Shark on the constructors.

Maybe a season review is appropriate.

Missed the first round but then had a great battle with Brendan at Brands and bagged my best result of 4th. Unfortunately it was downhill all the way from there.

I just don't get on with Infinion and my braking style there causes massive tyre wear and invariably punctures, which turned out to be the case in the race.

Zandvoort was a blast and I was in the thick of the multicar battle for the lead until Paul's road block ended the fun!!

I didn't really have time to prepare for VIR, another track I'm not keen on. I was well off the pace and made a really bad mistake which took Ross out, :(

And tonight was another fun race ending prematurely. I was back being dad's taxi again tonight so only just made qually. In those circumstances I just have to hope for the best, but I'd hoped for better than 7th. Anyway apart from Brendan we were all stuck together in one long six car crocodile. Even though my race was cut short it was still very enjoyable.

Let's hope for some more consistency in S4.

Didn't get a chance to do a laps practice before about 8:15 tonight & wasn't really expecting to do anything but try to keep up.
Was shocked to be ahead of a couple of people with only 4 laps under my belt :o ;D & ended up having a good start to the race.

I was all over Adam through the corners (due to extra wing I assume) & clinging on down the straights. Unfortunately he had a big wobble coming out a corner & squirted back on track & while I had the momentum to squeeze past I held back as he got it back under control (because I knew I had no reset available ;)), I dropped too much speed & lost almost two secs. Once he had that comfort zone he was away & I settled into a decent race long drive with Picnic. Sadly Spanner who maybe had the best pace of us here, got out of shape and had Game over :(

I think I've enjoyed the Watkins race in every car we've tried so far. Can't think of another track I could say that for :-\ Will certainly be glad to see VIR & Infineon takign a deserved rest :whistling:.

Well again had virtually not practice and grabbed a setup late of the forums, should have tested more as was a little loose into and out of most of the turns, so sorry to Pops for that slight wobble, did same thing thru there a few times, then ended up losing it in the boot as I touched the kerbs trying get back into 2nd.

Had great fun during the season, although I hate VIR!

Thanks to everyone who took part
