A couple of notes re. Blue Flags during qualifying and race where they differ from GTR2;

Blue Flags during qualifying - if you see a blue flag during qualifying it will be on your outlap and the driver approaching is on a hotlap. Please take this into account and act accordingly. The driver behind does not know you are on an outlap so no rash moves out of the way please  Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Blue Flags during the race -  if you see a blue flag during the race it means the driver approaching is about to lap you. Please take this into account and act accordingly. It differs from GTR2 in that you will not be penalised for not allowing the lapping driver to pass within a certain period. The flag is informational only. Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Welcome to the world of volunteering your time to organise races for other people Oily 8)...

I can't believe you've organised a race here >:(. My PC can barely handle Laguna, but that's never a problem as I hate it in most cars (including Skippy & Solstice)... but I will give it a go in the Legend.  ;D

Good poster though x ;)

So pace wise are they close to each other? Can see this as getting rather boring if there are only a few people in each 'class' if they are too different.

Yep that was my only reservation Legz, I realise it's pretty graphics heavy but at this track in particular they match up pretty nicely which is why I wanted to kick off with this one.

The Skippy and Spec should be the quickest around here but the Legend is really close, and it's also quick at different points around the circuit to the others...when you can get the power down cleanly of course ;)

I suspect the Legends will be like Marmite but I think they're an absolute hoot. Hopefully from that mix everyone will be able to find a car they can at least tolerate for 40 mins!

I have the Legend & Spec Racer but not Skippy. Do I have to have that car installed to race along side it?

At the moment yes.
I think you come from a GPL background? If you do, then you'll likely enjoy that car a fair bit.

Yes, many years of GPL :) Does the Skippy slide like the classic GP cars then?

I think that's probably a fair description, but I'm sure other iR'ing GPL'ers could confirm?

Welcome Colin - can't comment on the comparison with GPL having not driven it but it's certainly a car you drive almost in a permanent slide...really good fun although I think it'll have to be a Legend for me.

Cheers Andy -hope you can make it bud, this should be a cracking race with a decent sized field.

Well I'm looking at a 1:41.5 at the moment - reckon there's probably another half a second or so in it for me but I'm sure you're about to tell me different :)

I got down to a 1.40.5 on low fuel. I think the spec racer and the legend are quite close, but the skippy is somewhat quicker - a second or more?

Quicker than me!? Consider yourself banned. This is how the race direction job works right?  ;D

Seriously though, that's a nice time, you just feel free to share that setup whenever you feel like it ;)

Yep sounds about right on the car differences - more or less in line with what I've been seeing.

Pretty much so. The Skippy has the power of thr GPL 65's but not the grip. Probably a 65 that slides like a 67 best describes it.

They are a doubly absolute hoot round Summit. Maybe one to think about sometime.

No Ken, the skippy has only about half the power of a 65 car. As you say though, it slides around nicely and has such a fantastic balance. As far as I'm concerned it is and always has been the best iRacing car. Despite the slow speeds there is enough to challenge even the best drivers, so I would recommend it to anyone, especially a GPL fan.

Yes Paul, I was a bit of a rough comparison.

Well done Colin - good to have you aboard!

I know the feeling well Pops but if you persist that car can be seriously rewarding. I was convinced there was something up with my pedals when I first drove the thing lol. I'm sure somebody else can do a much better job of explaining but for me it was just a case of getting on the throttle early and using it to balance the car. Brands Indy was where it properly clicked for me finally, seemed like a nice track to put it through it's paces.

The Skip should be comfortably quickest so in theory you won't need to rag the hell out of it to be in amongst the field. It's a tough choice though, I'd like to have a go in both but as I have to decide, it's got to be the Legend for me as I've barely used it in anger.

Must remember to post a setup for the Legend later!

Having fun in the Skip? Maybe there are different models there. :P
Since Pops gave me a usable setup I could actually drive the Spec around tracks. Of course, that was long time ago so if I can do this again I will join. :)

Having recently bought Skippy, I could try and join the race tomorrow evening... I will skip quali and start in the back just in case Dave's hint on LODPct doesn't give results...

Well I'm on the cusp of getting a 1:42 in the Leg-end.

I can see me loving this car for hopefully more future races. It has instant fun appeal 8)

p.s. The Skippy is still as carp & little fun as ever ::)

Well, Spec is less stable than I remember and I spin a lot. Have made 1.42.7 in my lucky lap but I will either be slower in the race or crash. We'll see. :)

P.S. Any decent setup for Legend or Skip might be handy at [email protected]  ;)

Good work that man - my best is still currently a 41.5 but that was after quite a few laps I have to admit. Looks like we'll probably be up close and personal once again tonight Legzina  :-*. Hopefully not quite as close as @ RA last week lol.

Noted  ;)

A couple of Legend setups here TT, one of mine and then another done properly by somebody else :)

That was one to forget. I guess we were on the Australian server farm because the latency was just awful - cars jumping around all over the place. Lost track of where I was lap 1 at the Corkscrew and got my braking all wrong - I think I managed to avoid Ginsters (or rather, he managed to avoid me as I tried to thread the needle and crash on my own). Car was okay but stuck in the tyres so I had to reset; ran until I nearly caught Legzy and Picnic but with the latency as it was there was no way I wanted to be close to another car so I hopped out to see if I could ID what farm we were on, and check my connection, but to no avail, and since I've got a sore throat and probably have a cold coming I decided to hang up my gloves there and then.

Yeah we were on the Oz servers Dave, it did make life tough.

Pulled out after one too many spins for my liking. Like the Legend, it has a lot of potential, but Laguna remains a track that in iR (at least) escapes me.

Thats was funny as hell from my view Dave :) Spotter said "on left" and "then all clear" and I thought those Legands brake late (never seen them before). Then you hurtled across my bows at quite a rate. Shame about the lag :'(

I had quite a fun race. Gained a few places in the chaos and had fun holding up people a bit as they came back through. The Legends were more of a match as there was nothing I could do to hold up the odd skippy. Just held up Micheal at the end, who could have easily clattered me earlier as I began to struggle. Good racing from him and all those that I met  :)

Hope we race those motors again, even if I'm probably in the minority. You're all wrong :) I'll try and join you when you pick some of my motors. Falcon would be nice.

For once I enjoyed running the Skippy, even though it still bites  :D  I hung on to the back of Adam for a few laps, but he was steadily easing away.  Pushing hard to try and stay with him, I span it and from then on it was just bringing it home for 2nd.

Some horrendous lag out there since we were on the Aussie server.

A good combination (if we do more multiclass in these) would be v8 Falcon & Mustang  :)

LOL - what a laugh. Arrived on the server with 10 secs of qual left! I've only ever done one road race in the Legend before and never at Leguna Seca!! Good old Mr_Oily had shared a setep which I was warned was very oversteering by the guys on TeamSpeak. Only had one proper off all race and fortunately missed anything solid but the choice of Australian servers meant the server lost me twice. I only got lapped the once yet got reported as 3 laps down in the end.

Please don't follow my appalling example of racing with absolutely no practice with the car or track  ::)

Thanks again for hosting James, twice.

It was a good fun race, I do enjoy driving the legends car on road courses.

Me and Ian were almost trading paint on the last lap another lap and I think I could have taken the place.  It was a little unfair as my car was light on fuel and his wasn't.  Thanks Ian.

The skippys off the start line caused a few problems, they lost easily 10 car lengths to the legends and it just backed the pack up into T1.   Something to remember if you plan to use the combo again.

Kept picking up x1's through the corkscrew and cutting the curb on T1, they soon add up.
