Sorry I'm a bit late posting these details. Hopefully the track choice will compensate some (well I like it anyway )

Doesn't this version of Albert Park have ENORMOUS cutting bugs? I read the UKGTR version readme and it says that only the number of laps is fixed, so if the cutting is not fixed I think it will have those problems.

Great track conversion this, really detailed and resplendant  8)

Hooned around for an hour, down to 2:00 on race fuel and meds. Got 1:59s easy in me but kept making slight errors later in the lap. Tricky tightening radius corners here. 5 or 6 of us online this afternoon  :)

1:59.3 with race setup. 1:58.2 with Qual.
I can see a possibility to actually get to race someone if I get home in time to race!  :thumbup1:

Last night i managed to get down to a 57.6 in the 997 with just under half tank. Tried the Mosler and i have a bit of a phobia to it as i tried persevering with it in my first few seasons here and really struggled with it but managed to get it handling half decently and managed a 58.5 with it.

Yep love this conversion and love this track 8)

I'm feeling good with the track and cars after some practice. Hopefully I'll get done with work in time to make the race.

Off to Mallory tomorrow, so have fun if I'm not back in time for this one. Managing 1:59s in the F360, but the usual struggle for me in these cars  ::)

Have fun at Mallory 8)

Also, you know that the F360 is possibly the hardest car in GTC to drive!?

This was my thoughts on that car about 10 months back:
Piece of advice, don't drive the F360 Modena.
I still twitch at the thought of it!

Didn't feel like working tonight because the track was calling my name. It is such a challenging track to get right which is probably why so many get that golden lap and have a tough time to repeat it. I'm in a similar camp with a full fuel load best of 1:56.1 and a quali best of 1:54.4. This track is so addicting I just want to run around and around and around.

In tomorrow's race, pit work and related decisions will be just as if not more important than pace if the rains come. I really hope I can race.

Dissapointing to see the server settings in practice were set for 1X fuel which tempted me to choose the Viper. Turns out it was a lame duck because it had to make an extra stop for fuel. If I would have practiced with the correct settings, I wouldn't have even thought about it and simply taken the GT3. The pace of the Viper was quicker early on, but fell off and was even or maybe even slower than the GT3 after 10 laps. The car is very hard on tires.

The mid race calculations in my head and messages indicating the race will end prematurely also threw me off and led me to stumble twice with visits to the gravel. Preparation is key to a smooth race for me. I get flustered a bit with last minute changes like this.

Note to self: make up imaginary problems within the 1st 10 laps to throw Mike off the pace

1st GTR2 race for ages that I had people to race! very enjoyable. was similar pace to Legzy, MJ and SPanner
had some good dicing/chasing with them. Was surprised to see 60 laps after it had been stated 60 mins
but thought, err ok, so we do 3 stops, went in for 1st of 3 and decided to repair and chage all 4 tyres + fuel
60 mins stop. After Legzy and MJ pitted I was unusually in front of both, and was chasing spanner again
he went off, I nipped through then fought him off for a few laps until we had a minor touch into T1, was catching
APEX quite fast, but didn't quite have enough laps to have a go at passing.
Good race, 430 was easy and fun.

Pleased you didn't lose any positions because of the two pit stops or the info messages & managed to cling onto 2nd :sweatdrop:.

Not ideal tonight/this week guys sorry. The mistake with server not being on x2 fuel on practice server & then the race being set to 60 laps not 60mins... glad that was a test race! :-[

What a great great track though 8)

Good race tonight, surprised to get 6th in the end (dependant on photo finish of me and Spanner crossing the line!..think i knicked it and gtrXpd agreed with me as showed me ahead on the positions table). I did another lap as didnt see a race finish announcement but then noticed everyone else had stopped, but when i hit quit it showed me and many others as DNF ???

Qually was a series of mistakes for me or running out of fuel due to the 2x rate but i eventually got a decent enough time to qually 10th on the grid.

Got hit up the backside hard on lap 1 by my teamie  ::) he says lag, i say too much Cinzano  ;) dropped me to back of the field and had to play catch up, only to find Legzy kissing a barrier further around  :D
The rest of my race was spent in lower few driving as hard as i could but suffering heavy understeer...might be the crash damage and i had to drive my cotton socks off to stay ahead of Legzy for the final 20 minutes.
My pitstop also worked well and got out efficiently, even jumping ahead of a couple of drivers. Hadnt done any fuel calcs so just fuelled it to the brim again at my stop.

Great track, should make a good round of a championship  :)

ps..was there variable weather? didnt notice any!

pps..good to see teamie Purds back in the mix and great pace.  :) Bad luck getting the disco with a pody on the cards :(

Variable, yes. ;) A few more test races and we might actualy see the rain falling. :P
Never mind. I got laggy cars all around from the start but guys on TS said I had a ping of 45, which should be ok. So, what, where, how? Cars were laggy in front and behind so I maintained a few extra meters during warmup lap. Lag subsided towards the end of the lap and just before start intensified again, so I left again some more space. MJ was shown at least 2 meters away when I saw him spin with a err, dark smudge on his ... behind. :D  Sorry MJ, this really didn't go the way it was supposed to. :(
Waited and ended dead last on the field, then gained on others mistakes and came 3rd in the end. :)

Lazlow, let Mike win the next time to build his confidence. ;) Amazing pace, Mike, Lazlow, Purds. 8)
Track is great. Cars seem to be a bit unequal on fuel, Mosler being quite thirsty while not bein all that quick. 10 more litres or so of fuel load could be the answer.

Ah yes almost forgot about that.
 :taz:
Suggestion: If you shunt a fellow driver, it's always friendly to wait while they recover or take a voluntary drive though of course. Reading a "sorry" on the screen as I'm choking on your dust means little to me.

Replay and provisional results posted

LapChart (http://www.granum.plus.com/20100711%20U13/index.html)

Apologies for the tardy performance of the server monitor bloke tonight. Auto pilot kicked in and I didn't check the laps/min setting. Won't want to do that in a hurry again as the results file created need some TLC before I could import it or throw it at the Lap Analyser app. Sorry to disappoint you MJ but after adding up your and Spanner's laptimes for the 31 laps you raced the total was 0.1 sec lower for Spanner.

As Legsy said, good job this was a test race ;)

lol, and i have the replay picture to prove it MJ ;D

That ended up being one of the most fun races for a while, ended up racing Craske, Matt, TT memorably coming to mind all the while trying to adapt to the Mosler. Always seem to struggle when the rears go off more, in the porsche the fronts go off which is easier to cope with.

Sorry to Terry i think for the tap in the second to last corner, misjudged how slow you were going. And i think Craske pitted at the same time as me and i was trying to be gentle on the tyres on the out lap but clearly Craske wasnt as he came straight in the back of me down at the 2nd corner. Luckily the car handled ok and i managed to carry on, as it was square in the back.

I got a bit confused over the fuel here as well as a few laps in i say i was getting worse than i planned, forgot to put more in to cover it at the stop and wasnt going to be able to do another lap. Luckily LAzlow was behind to lap me so i slowed down coming onto the main straight but then panicked when i saw MJ so close behind him. Luckily just managed to time it right!

Feel sorry for the guy stuck at the first corner all race. Not sure the gravel is that bad to get out of tho'

Good to see a few new faces, hope its not that bad an experience racing with us!

Sorry again for this Spanner, I had a good pitstop got the aero damage
fixed from my earlier trip to the wall and was attempting to make up some lost pace, just took my eye off the road for a split second while I was looking on XD to see where terry was and bang.... I felt for sure your car was going to be a wreck and was relieved to see you back on track so quickly. I got stuck in the gravel and it took an age to get back out so I finisher last.

Fun track thanks to all involved and congrats to podiums

Forgot to thank Legzy for a fantastic track and car selection. I also liked the suspense generated through waiting for the rain. While it does get me out of my comfort zone (not being prepared) it does give me practice for the unexpected and "need to focus" for the real racing days. Regardless of my troubles, I thoroughly enjoyed the event.
