Server: "www.simracing.org.uk"
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=265&theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Pole sitter may have trouble seeing the start lights. Suggest they have the countdown switched on.

From the Readme

This version of Castle Combe,is based on Matt Lucas` original track,he made for Peter Close,
some simmers were asking for the Chicaned version, both Phil and I wanted to improve this great little track ..
but rather than  just release an update to add the improved lighting, enhanced paddock etc,so had a go at making the Chicanes, which in the end,  became  more than a makeover of a rebuilt track.....

so it not only has the two chicanes and lots of tree placement corrected,  grass banks were remade,  based on the all  of the feedback, motivation, photos, testing and time from Peter Close,  whose first hand knowledge has been invaluable in helping this version to look and feel more like the real track, which having new barriers,Curbs, and posts at Chicanes, made
and addition of  wire catch fencing, (two types), replaced Guard rails ..using Peters photos of the  track, which also enabled the  Pirelli corner signs to made,
the StartGantry and of course added Startlights and pitlights,
redid the Avon bridge, now also has the Green Gates and some of the buildings were retextured using the photos,
made and added new Road textures for track and pit road,
more in keeping with the real track and GTL,
made a new Haywall at the inside of track,
made and added the wires to remodelled electric pylons in field,
made and added marshal posts, made and added a land mass to create distant land,
and a number of other extras, like the addition of wooden rails on the grass banks by chicanes etc..
and of course a new AI to use the new layout:)

along with the all the Thanks that go to Peter Close,
thanks also go to  Aad Gagesteijn (Aad1810) for the excellent loading screen
and special thanks to Matt Lucas, who gave us the original track, a long time ago, where it has appeared in several forms of ...
this track can be Installed into your GTL\GameData\Locations folder..and then just select  CastleCombe Chicaned,, it will run along side the original...
regards Ken, (MotorFX) and Philrob

So are we using the chicane version or not Tony?

(As the 'download this' version has chicanes in it I think I've answered my own question).

Oh well that was fun while it lasted. Was managing to keep tibs at bay when a back marker braked right in front of me at the final turn  ::) sent me careering into the tyrewall. Didn't fancy continuing after that !

Not used to back markers then Goldtop.? I held my normal line and breaking point which as a back marker is going to be earlier than you .
if on the rare occasion i lap a back marker i am ready for early braking from them . I intended to stay on outside as there was plenty of room to overtake me by those leaders catching me .

I had no intention of taking any one off for that i apologize.

Also i was DQ ED for not taking a pits stop even though i had not been notified by the game that i needed to take one with a few laps to go .

I will not be taking part at Brands Hatch in case i get in the way of a leader .  ;D or dont take a pit stop i know nothing about, sometimes Sims are so bad .

Pete

Great racing, there seemed to be rather a lot of bumping going on inthe 1st couple of laps, someone was
getting a bit hot under the collar methinks, had an Elan off then me  ::) No serous damage so battled on
last 10 laps were a classic, I got wobbly and Geoffers passed, then he passed Ade who was not about
to roll over and die, I caught the pair of them in the last couple, Was hoping to put Ade off his line slightly in the last turn to get a run down the start finish, but I put him more off line more than expected and he
went wide and on the graqss, if I'd not been harrying Geoffers I would have waited.
Had the bad timing to catch and not be able to lap people twice in the chicanes, both time giving away a couple of seconds to Geoffers
and Ade, ah well, very fine racing once we all settled down.  :thumbup1:

Not used to back markers then Goldtop.?

Yes I am used to back markers Pete. I'm also used to being lapped and I always allow leaders plenty of room ;)

Apology accepted and I hope you reconsider and join us for Brands.

As for the pitstop, that is odd. Maybe you were given a stop/go for some excursions/cuts and didn't see the warnings.

Thanks for posting the results/replays Legzy.

I think that was probably me Matt :-[ (even if it wasn't, it was :-[)

Think in that race, the only driver I didn't have some degree of 'light' contact with was Ade (who I nearly got in T1 ;)). Not all of it was my doing , but certainly some quite a bit of it I should have been more patient ::). I wasn't hot under the collar, I just seemed to be making poor decisions tonight. Which was summed up by putting myself on my roof, on my own ::) & doing a 360+ spin, on my own as I hit an invisible brick wall through one of the chicanes :o. I think that's called Karma! :-\

Sorry to all (except Ade) & thanks to all (except including Ade ;)) for an action packed race

Regarding the strange DQ i had 2 warnings of cutting , the last time i played GTL i am sure that it is 3 before a stop/go , however i was not notified that i had a stop/go .

I am sure this happened when i ran GTL leagues at GBSim most annoyingly someone would get a stop/go on the last lap in the same circumstances as i had ie no cutting .

These short comings are just annoying at the time .

That invisible barrier in the chicane caught me out twice .

Great racing, there seemed to be rather a lot of bumping going on inthe 1st couple of laps, someone was
getting a bit hot under the collar methinks, had an Elan off then me  ::)

I have to own up to that Matt  ::). On the first lap I had a collision with TonyJ's Elan at Tower, from my point of view he seemed to come across the track into me, so I carried on, if that wasn't the case then apologies to Tony. On lap 2 I lost it going into Tower & went across the grass & took you out, sorry, you got going ahead of me.

Settled into a good rhythm after that & slowly worked my way up the field. I was constantly around 3s behind Matt until we got up to 2nd & 3rd with Ade about 5-6s ahead. Matt had a bit of bad luck with the backmarkers & I caught up & got ahead when he had a half spin. Reeled Ade in, thanks mainly to having a faster car  ;) & got ahead when he too had a slight moment. Pulled away until the concentration started to go & I made a few mistakes, the last of which allowed Ade back in front. Matt was back on the case & we started the last couple of laps within a couple of seconds of each other. Managed to pass Ade with the extra horsepower & just held off a fast closing Matt on the last lap.  ;D

Congrats to Matt & Ade

Cya all at Brands.
