A couple of notes re. Blue Flags during qualifying and race where they differ from GTR2;

Blue Flags during qualifying - if you see a blue flag during qualifying it will be on your outlap and the driver approaching is on a hotlap. Please take this into account and act accordingly. The driver behind does not know you are on an outlap so no rash moves out of the way please  Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Blue Flags during the race -  if you see a blue flag during the race it means the driver approaching is about to lap you. Please take this into account and act accordingly. It differs from GTR2 in that you will not be penalised for not allowing the lapping driver to pass within a certain period. The flag is informational only. Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Ooooo, Friday the 13th  ;D ::)

They're supposed to be fitting my new front door that day. They were supposed to do it this Friday just gone, but it got bashed between the factory and the fitters so they have to build a new one. When they offered me "the 13th of August" I made a point of saying, "you mean, Friday the 13th?" but I don't think they picked up on it! ::) :o :D

That would have been a nice theme actually Pete but I'm off to Zandvoort for the DTM the week after so rather selfishly it had to be the bucket and spade  :boat:

Perhaps I should have allowed a few more resets, reckon 34  will see you to the end Legz?  :turned:

Hope you have nice weather. Pretty horrid at the moment here. Circuit can be pretty cold when the wind picks up from sea and you are standing at the top of a dune.

Hope you have fun in Holland.

Thanks for those Alex - just spotted your snaps, I really do hope the weather improves next week although I am aware it can be pretty volatile. Still, I was really hoping to be returning with a tan! I've got five days camping next to the track so hopefully I won't be washed into the North Sea at least.

If you end up going, give me a shout if you want to hook up for a beer, I'll be floating around (possibly quite literally) Wednesday through Sunday.

LOL!  ;D

Looks like you are prepared well. Don't forget you life jacket and some flares  ;)

No DTM@Zandy for me this year  :(
Circuit visits are a bit scarce this year (family obligations) but will certainly will watch German telly to look if see SRou flags on some dunetops  ;)

btw doing 1:58- 2:00 laps. Is it ok to join or better stay in the cozy skybox?

Never mind Alex, might do it again next year if it's any good! Flares and SROU flag packed ;)

Yep the man speaks absolute sense - just get yourself on the server mate! This combination's similar to ones we've run before but it really is a hell of a lot of fun.

Start time is a bit late for me, but still very much looking forward to this.

The car is even better in the new build, purely cause having to blip on downshifts manually feels really good in this car for some reason, probably cause there are only 4 gears and it takes so long to change gear, it's all so leisurely (well the gear changing is ;D). The car is just so much fun to chuck around this ridiculous karting circuit.

Literally managed 2-5 laps of practice just now, but hopefully I'll be able to join earlier tomorrow to get 30-60 minutes practice in before the race. 1:49s was my one and only lap out of the handful of laps tonight that I didn't throw it into the kitty litter. I'm guessing the aliens will be doing 1:45s.

I'm actually around tomorrow so might have time for this, only problem is I've only done a couple of laps in the late model and I've never driven Zandie, what times should I be aiming for and can anyone point me in the direction of a setup?

Cheers
Gary

There are loads of mine in the Team Shark garage (http://www.teamshark.org.uk/Pages/Setups.aspx)... I haven't found much need to tweak them for the new build although the brake balance is more adjustable.

Is it worth buying this car?

Only if you want to own the best road racing car in the game... ;) ;D

Yes, BUT, just remember it's an oval car in the official series and we don't run it very often here, but there is another league that runs it every week if you're free on Saturday nights (ORO), so it depends whether you think that's enough for your money or not.

It is great fun to drive on road courses as it gives you plenty of chance to slide and correct. Not sure about wheel to wheel racing considering it's size mind you, but purely on driving pleasure it is good stuff.

Enough for my money? Haha, you must be joking. NO iR car gives me enough for my money, not if I compare. :(
So I bought it. ::) For some reason it won't load your setup, Simon.

Edit: something must be seriously wrong here. I'm doing 1:51s and if I'm 6 sec off the pace then I'm done racing with you. :(

LOL. I agree nothing is ever value for money in iRacing, but for some reason I also still end up spending my, not very hard earned ;), cash on it. >:(

I didn't think I'd posted a setup?!

FYI, I find Gizmo's Late Model setups a bit too wild for my tastes, having to saw at the wheel just a bit too much. So if you're having problems with his and if you can wait till I get home tonight I'll post my calmer setup on the Team Shark setups page.

Hahaha one day TT you'll be an addict. I can see it's coming but I'm not 100% with it yet either, I can see the potential though and nothing offers this level of feel in my opinion.

Anyway listen has anyone got an indicative quick lap time by any chance? I'm not back until 7pm'ish and Ade's kindly offered to start the server for me, we could do with knowing how long the race is likely to be!

Its showing max laps at 22, going off 1:45 time Shark posted  for the aliens makes the race 38.5 mins long. (I think)

I'm going with 22 laps, wont be much over at 1:55 lap times (42 mins)

                                                                                 Cheers Ade

Posted my setup here (http://www.teamshark.org.uk/Pages/DriverSetups.aspx?DriverID=2). I doubt very much I will change anything but fuel. If you don't like mine Gizmo's is here (http://www.teamshark.org.uk/Pages/DriverSetups.aspx?DriverID=7).

Results up!

Thanks for coming along all - a little quiet for all but the front half I know but an interesting race all the same getting to grips with the new gearbox.

Nice to see you on track again Alex, apologies if my overtake was a little committed, was fighting the rear throughout and I think it may have come across a little aggressive when you let me past!

Grats Adam, great pace along with Dave, Pete and Shark while it lasted ) ....just could not make any ground up on you guys for the life of me!

I'm away next week but the show will go on so enjoy! Hope to post details of the next rounds tomorrow.

My setup was rubbish, ended up using Gizmo's and reducing the FF to 2 which upped my pace in the race from qually. Was good fun, even with the low turnout as I was close to Picnic, Oily and then Gizmo after he made a mistake. Was in 3rd with 3 to go and then I lost it in the fast right hander and slammed headfirst into the tyre wall. Limped back to the pit entry and pressed Shift+R. Banged in a nice 1:48.5 on full tanks and fresh rubber on the last lap and just managed to stay on the lead lap to come 5th.

That was fun, for a change I managed to be reasonably competitive and not have an off somewhere in the race. As usual I qualified with the race setup, including fuel, as this helps me with consistency at the start of the race. Even saying that I was surprised not be be dropped quicker in the race. Gizmo having an off and dropping behind Mr. Oily and Shark mixed it up nicely. After Mr Oily spun out, with a little help I believe ;), I was 4th, 3rd in the Team Shark train. Dave got passed and started to slowly pull out a gap to Shark and likewise Shark was eking out a gap to me. To my surprise Oily was not really eating in to our gap. Then Shark spun all on his own and I was in 3rd. Only a few laps to go but I was finding the tyre wear was having a bad effect on my ability to slow down, thus my last 3 or 4 laps were a bit ragged.

Shame the turnout wasn't better but I was never more than a few secs behind or in front of someone so there was no chance to relax.

Roll on next week :)

A race that was far too exciting for my tastes. Got a great start to take the lead into turn 1 thanks to Zandy's wrong way round grid, and kept it for all of three laps until I over extended myself in the penultimate corner and slid into the sand; kept it moving and facing the right way but that dropped me back into the following pack and I had to fight my way back intoto second, by which time Adam had zoomed off into the distance.

Was still pushing a bit too hard and talking too much on TeamSpeak and ran off again in Gerlachtbocht, brushing the barriers in the process. Luckily that didn't seem to do any damage and I managed to get going again moments before Shark repassed me. After that I kept it clean and just gently pulled away in second place.

That's a tough combination of car and track because you need a very pointy car for the slow stuff, which means it's also loose in the fast bends and you have to be 100% on top of it all the time or it'll bite you.

Shame I couldn't make this one, nursing a hang over this morning & being in charge of the little one... I was regretting missing it even more!

Notice there was ony one new to srouk driver, normally their's more I think
