Will probably take Mosler this season. :) Anyone took it for Watkins & how did it go? :)

Tough to decide on which car to take the entire season. I started testing for Barber, but have yet to look at the rest of the tracks for the season. I'll have to take a tour to ensure the car I'm currently doing best with at Barber will also work at other tracks. 1:24.1 at Barber so far.

Well after last night I'm definitely taking the 996 RS although I still have some work to do to calm down my current setup. Has (at least for now) restored my entusiasm for GTR2  :)

After tasting the torque of the Viper, I'm considering it to be my ride next season. Now if I can only get it to turn.

I tried the Mosler, Vertigo, Fezza... None suits me very well. Might be the track, though I achieved one of the few wins on R2P and a track record with RSR.
In the end I made best time with Spyker. As I didn't drive this car in the Championship yet, I might decide to use it in this season. :)

Edit: btw, I managed 1:23 in Spyker. What were your times?

I tried different cars too and it's somehow frustrating  but I am not capable to make consistent laps. Maybe it's because I'm totally noob with setups and I'm testing with default setup  :dots:

Boy do I know that feeling. I don't understand enough to realise that I'm faster because I know the track/car better or if a setup really made the difference and without knowing times others are doing I have no idea if either are in the right ball park. Because I know I'll never have the outright pace to win a race I tend to pick cars I have an affinity with and hope I'll have someone to race at the back of the field.

Group of us on last night all around the 1.25 mark, even if some of us were in faster cars than others ;)

Well after last night I'm definitely taking the 996 RS ..........

Maybe the 997 Cup car is a little more sensible then. Best so far is a 1:25 which should hopefully give me some folk to race with.

I've been doing a bit of private praccy and have managed the odd 1.24. but my race pace is 1.25.??.
That was in the Cup car.   Not sure which car to take yet.   :-\  maybe the RSR...

Tried most cars and got them all in 1:23 racepace, but I'll be chosing between Viper and Morgan. Both cars have the highest funfactor by far ;D

We had about five on last night & I think I was quickest with 1:25.0 (race trim)
Your time in the Spyker concerns me, I thought I had hammered it in the new physics pack, looks like maybe not hard enough. Well if you take it, at least Ruskus will have somebody to race ;D

But I'm confident I can find maybe another 0.5 extra time by Sunday. I love lapping this place (2nd only to Suzuka I think).

I'll be back on the server tonight for more car testing if anyone's about...

This was quali lap, Legzy. I don't think I can do better than high 24s in race spec.

Looks like I've got some work to do. The 1:24.1 was on full tanks in a 997 GT3 Cup car, which should be quicker around here than the Viper and Morgan.

have only tried the Mosler and Fezza so far, 1:25's for me in both with 10mins fuel onboard. Fancied a change from my usual steed  :o but not sure what car to take yet.

edit, just grabbed extra half hour praccy...make that 1:24.0's in both.  :)

GT3 RS is quickest for me and guys who drive it and know it are close to 1:22 in race spec. :-\ Spyker (and me) can't get close to that mark and that makes is at least one sec per lap difference.

Not a great start  :(

Set a decent quali time which would have probably netted me top 10 but had to leave to adjust my game settings as the fps was really bad. Returned and loaded my race setup by mistake and by the time I realised it was too late  :wetfish:

Started last and tried to get on the gas too early coming out of turn 4 on lap 2 which planted me in the barrier. Car was horrible after that and when my half squash ball popped out from underneath my brake pedal, it was time to get out of the way of the lappers.

Nice to see a very good sized grid....looks like I've used up my dropped score already  ::)

Happens. :) Spun it later after a commotion with a frozen car, hit the wall badly. Spent two minutes in the pit, then I started and the engine died. ::)

ha well after lots of practice i thought i would do alright here, lost it on the corkscrew type right hander and Ricardo Silva had nowhere to go but into me (really sorry about that buddy; i know it wrecked your race  :-[ ) and then had to wait for the nearly the whole field to pass to get of the grass. Was just cruising round after that had a little scrap with spanner who seemed to be struggling a bit and eventually quit and I finishing last.
Nealy got one place higher but hit an out of control car at the last corner which sent me spinning.   ::)

Thanks again to legzy and all for organising, and congrats to the podys.

This is my first race after long period and I am delighted. Excellent track, good battles.
My apologies to Craske, I didn't manage to go around him after he spun.

Anyway, hope to drive with all of you soon!

first of all a big hello to everybody because i just signed up this afternoon :o

I'm more of a casual racer that races only for fun, and honestly was a bit 'scared' by the high level of professionalism because i'm not used to it (for example no one talking in the chat before and after the race, ...), being new, my first concern was to not cause any crashed, and all went well so 100% success night.

then i had a crazy race, 25 laps under constant pressure, a big thank you to peter and H@L9000 that waited for a clean opportunity to pass and did not force their way through even if there were a bit faster, that's racing how i like it and i really appreciated that  :tt1:

after 25 laps i did my first little mistake and legzy could pass me, but really those 25 laps under pressure were not fun at all (in a good way).... i never been so stressed while racing, but I'm very very happy with my performance because i just couldn't drive any better than that.

then on the last lap i made a big noobish mistake, peter crashed out and was almost stopped, but i thought the race was over so i stopped too and didnt pass him .. hahahahaha, wont happen again i promise  ;D

was a bit lucky to finish 8th thanks to some people crashing out and i guess it's gonna be very hard to get more top 10 finished because the level seemed very high, hopefully i'll be back next week if I find out that I can control a GT1 car  8)

thank you all

Welcome Sly and I'm glad you had a good race. We need drivers with this attitude, welcome. 8)
I'd also like to welcome Michael Sunny, glad you're back. :)

I see noone else took Spyker. I don't think this track did the car justice, hope to be more competititve in the next race. :)

Couldn't sort myself out in qually & only managed 12th in what was a decent enough lap, but could have been so much better.

I got a little bumped off (shoulder to shoulder racing incident really) going into the slow downhill chicane right hander type thing (T4-6 ???) & while doing my best to stabalise, somebody behind must have missed their braking point & came straight "through" the chicane & punted me off into the sand. So 12th to 20th in two laps & I'd not done anything wrong yet

Then I started clawing my way up through the field, not an easy task @barber :sweatdrop: & managed to register 11 overtakes & finished 9th after numerous good battles with numerous people. Gutted to through away two positions on the 2nd last lap by trying too hard & spinning myself. Grrr!

But such an enjoyable busy race & this will be my 1st ever season in a Porka (nasty little things eh MJ ;)), so am looking forward to that challenge.

Big congrats to Team Oldie for registering 2nd/3rd/4th (Can you hear SuperSonic's sing? No, no ;D), I'm sure my lowly 9th must be a positive embarrassment to you?

Also a big well done to Picnic, for possibly the drive of the night :sorcerer:. Looks like Team Shark is going to need more drives like that from you if they want a sniff of the Team title this season :-X .

Sadly I'm dropped from the team AWOL for the next two, so see you in a couple of weeks.

Legzy
p.s. Welcome to Mr Sunny & Sly :)

yeah, never known a car to stay frozen for so long!

Wanted to try something different as i knew it was going to turn into a porka-fest even though its one of the few cars i can drive. After trying a few cars i decided to go with the the 360 as the fezzas i've never really got on with and hoped i could get the hang of it. What ever car i tried my best was a 1.25.0 but i never had time to try it over a race distance, how bad could it get! Managed to tame it a bit but the braking was still tricky, tried adjusting the controls in game to help but i then endedup with hardly any braking! and i had no real time to sort it out before the race started.
Couldnt beleive how quick everyone was, kinda hoped my only 1.24 time was going to be half decent, wasnt expecting to be pretty much last :(

Struggled round for most of the race but the tyres were wearing pretty fast and towards the end was loosing it under braking all the time and after being lapped was just annoyed with it all, especially as Legzy was revelling in how fast his btcc spec ford like performance he seem to have as he breezed up the field after ending up at the back.

So do i go back to the old faithfull porsche or go with the the z4, which seemed ok in the corners but gutless down the straight?

Welcome to all the new faces we had last night hope you enjoyed it 8)

Oops, really sorry for blocking the road guys, I quit imediately, but it took a while before the noise
stopped and it BSOD'd. I have now installed the older version of the ATI drivers I was using under
VIsta, with no probs for over a year. Hopefully I will get a stable setup.

Just a thought.......I had trouble with BSODs when I first started racing and it turned out to be my ATI 4850 card overheating. I just switch to manual fan at 50% whenever I race now and fortunately haven't had a problem since. I know ginsters had the same trouble too. Also as I mentioned earlier, I had to turn down my settings for this one which is something I rarely have to do; just a heavy track I suppose.

Not looked at fan control in ATI. The case is open with no side fitted, but the fan is doing
whatever it's been told to. I'll try setting it manually for tonight's GTL race. The card is not new
it's the same card I've been using for a while for this, but in a different box. This is Win7-64, the other is Vista-64. When I had this prob before It was with NVIDia, and I bought an ATI card
specifically to avoid it.

Kind of agree with Spanner. I thought I had done a decent lap time given next to no track time but was 17th out of 20. I was disappointed to lose another place during the warm up lap  ::) but it led to an interesting chase. I made up places due the the misfortune of others but the Z4 just doesn't have the speed to get past people - in my hands at least. My first visit to Barber, I kind of like it. Well done Legzy on your first league race and the podium people/aliens.

Tough opening race for me in a Fezza 430. Cant see what all the fuss is about  ;)

Like others, i was hoping my low 1:24 pace would see me in the top 10 at least but quickly saw that everyone else had found more pace over the weekend whilst i was away.
Nearly didnt race as only got back an hour before the race, after 350miles of driving my 911 all over warwickshire and oxfordshire..was fair pooped. :P

Had decent race start and made up a couple of places, only for Legzy to get all out of shape ahead in the chicane, and while i watched his 911 dance from side to side i took to the outside as he recovered and thumped him up the backside. Next lap round i lost the fezza out of the exit of T4? as it oversteered me onto the grass and lost about 5 places  :'( Took an age to catch up the pack but steadily got myself upto 10th as others had incidents. Stayed there until 2 laps from the end with nsfast and Prof chasing me hard.
Unfortunately my front left was at 31 wear by that point with pit warnings, basically on the canvas and i became a sitting duck for the two chasers...sickening to lose 2 places with 2 laps left. :death:

Finished a cruddy 12th. Tough race, i was sweating buckets by the end with no respite on this track, bit like Brands Indy!

Good turn out, great racing and good fights!

Nice. :)

then i had a crazy race, 25 laps under constant pressure, a big thank you to peter and H@L9000 that waited for a clean opportunity to pass and did not force their way through even if there were a bit faster, that's racing how i like it and i really appreciated that  :tt1:

That's how we do it here. :)

Yep, excellent fight. I could not find a way passed and tried to stay close in case you made a mistake but, you did not. I did out brake my self a little when I did pass, sorry about that. Lucky you saw it coming and I think you may have given me a little bit of a helping hand passing in the end.

Awesome stuff. :)

Thanks to all other people that I raced, its probably about half the field. ;D

PC went black screen , then BSOD, hope my car didn;'t hang around too long.

I had a similar issue with my last PC build. It seemed to work OK until I ran memory intensive apps, then I would get BSODs. It turned out to be the RAM. The mother board by default did not supply the RAM with a high enough voltage. I had to manually increase it in the overclock settings in the BIOS.

I had to go to the RAM manufacturers web site to find out the voltage that it was supposed to run at. I discovered that there was an error with the RAM after running memtest:
http://www.memtest.org/ (download link is half way down the page)

Well done podiums.

See you all at the next race. :)
