A couple of notes re. Blue Flags during qualifying and race where they differ from GTR2;

Blue Flags during qualifying - if you see a blue flag during qualifying it will be on your outlap and the driver approaching is on a hotlap. Please take this into account and act accordingly. The driver behind does not know you are on an outlap so no rash moves out of the way please  Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Blue Flags during the race -  if you see a blue flag during the race it means the driver approaching is about to lap you. Please take this into account and act accordingly. It differs from GTR2 in that you will not be penalised for not allowing the lapping driver to pass within a certain period. The flag is informational only. Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Glad to hear it Mike, I thought I'd ease us into the Lotus gently :). I think we stand to lose a few stone in body weight doing 80 mins around here - should separate the men from the Oldies muhaha!

Expecting a few more incidents are we?

Of course I'm just thinking of all of you - I won't put a wheel wrong as usual  :turned:

You can have up to 10 resets Mark - will you be in attendance?  :-*

How is Lotus compared to Mazda - any good? Better? Worse? Worth buying? ;)

It's wierd. Very wierd.

1:51.3 after three laps of testing on my existing setup.

It's a strange car.  Not a lot of steering at low speeds, very strong acceleration, but the high speed downforce and grip is just incredible.  It takes a bit to get your mind round what it can do.  T1 at Silverstone is flat in the '79, you just have to believe it and trust it will stick.

The default setup is not that good though.

I'm glad I bought the 79 even if I don't race it very often.

1:49.9 after getting my head around T1, which is near enough flat  :o

That's on race fuel BTW and there's more time left in there just by driving more laps.

Any chance of posting the setup on the TS forum please Mike? I'm going to need some help here.

How many laps are we looking at here?  Going on 1:49 laps, I make it 44/45 laps, which would (I think) mean 23 gallons of fuel for the race.

Took Mike's setup and couldn't drive it. :) Almost 100% reversed the differentials, added one click of front wing and one click of differential preload and now it's driveable.

Hate the car still though as it still feels just plain wierd to me. Itty-bitty front wheels and huge rear wheels just makes this car one of the worst handling cars ever made. It relies totally on downforce and that only works on the fast corners. Hated the car in rFactor, still hate it here. Get the drift yet? ;)

The engine sound is awesome though.

1:49.3 with my modifications to Mike's setup. Not sure I can stand that car for 10 minutes more let alone 80 so might pass this week too.

This car just seems to highlight everything i love about iR. I have fantastic feel through the wheel, and I'm in complete control! Yes yes yes, I can carry loads of speed through the corners! This is amazing  :tt1:

It is pretty wobbly at low speed, and there's not much feel there.  It's just something you have to get used to :(

I've also got 1:49.3 with an optimal of 49.0

I am clearly doing something wrong.

I also do not like the feel of this car,  it does, just feel wrong.  I find you have to be gentle on the throttle to keep it pointing forward.

I am currently doing laps in the 2:01/00 range, and have an optimal of 1.57.

I will get some more practice this afternoon, and see if I can improve this lap time.

Ian

In the slow stuff, you do need to be smooth with the throttle.  The default setup is a bit rubbish, it doesn't produce anywhere near enough downforce.

Yep, there's 5.5 of us marooned in the race an hour early and I've already crashed out once. :-[

Really sorry guys - my cock up, had a last minute dash to catch up a train up to Scotland and only just had time to set up the server. Less speed more haste required clearly as I stuck the wrong practice period in as you may have noticed!!

So sorry to those of you who put the practice time in - I'll be running this one again to make up for it.

Result and replay will be delayed until I'm back.
