Flags: local only

Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKiR Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3349.0) - particularly the rules about general conduct and in-game chat messages.

NOTE: All sessions protected by the main password, there is no seperate 'pre-event practice'

A couple of notes re. Blue Flags during qualifying and race where they differ from GTR2;

Blue Flags during qualifying - if you see a blue flag during qualifying it will be on your outlap and the driver approaching is on a hotlap. Please take this into account and act accordingly. The driver behind does not know you are on an outlap so no rash moves out of the way please  Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Blue Flags during the race -  if you see a blue flag during the race it means the driver approaching is about to lap you. Please take this into account and act accordingly. It differs from GTR2 in that you will not be penalised for not allowing the lapping driver to pass within a certain period. The flag is informational only. Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Sigh.

Doh! That's a shame Kruger, there's no way around it - you'll just have to cancel your plans :)

Hoping for a good turn out for this one - I know it's not exactly the most popular of cars but around this fairly simple track we all know I'm hoping we should be able to have some fun. I saw some footage of an iRacing league race here a while back and they were swapping places constantly.

Just hope I can learn to change down LOL.

I've been really enjoying these Friday events but I'm also going to have to miss this one I'm afraid. Sometimes you just can't avoid real life ;)

Sorry Oily sir.

Apology not accepted - 10 place grid penalty for you at the next one.

What a waste of those Jetta skills - you could have been sipping Moet this Friday night Pete!

Yeah, right. Supposed to visit mother-in-law... no messing about with the dragon :)

There's a fact: in a Fairy Tale as a young Prince on a white horse you battle the dragon and after defeating it you marry a princess. In reality it all gets a bit mixed up: as a young Prince you do a shortcut and directly marry the dragon. :D

Something changed in the meantime so I migth be available for the race - though, if I disappear mid race, its been nice knowing you all  :death:

Just a quick question: Quali is only 5 minutes, right? And, what times should I be looking for with Jetta at Summit?

Nice one Kruger, lets hope you're not dragged away then - yep qually's 5 mins, means you only get a couple of chances to nail the lap which I like!

Very good times are low 1:23's so just a fraction behind the Skippy pace when it was here - I think 22's are possible.

1:23.754 is the best I've managed so far. Turn 3 is a great place to lose loads of time - many laps I went in there .7 or .8 up and lost it all in that one turn.

Not to worry Dave, I'll jump on and show you how it's done a little later  :turned:

Is T3 the tight left btw?

It's the evil left over the crest that'll either roll you off the curbs on the left or send you into the gravel on the right.

Mr. Oily, pretty please, I need a small help :)

I've never participated in any hosted session  - I understand, going between quali and race is similar to the official sessions; you enter hosted quali, exit, and then join hosted race? Is there anything else to it?

In case I manage to join ;) did a bit of practice (not enough) and mid 1.24 was best I could come up with so I will stroll in the back probably.

Thanks

It doesn't work like that, you don't need to exit between sessions. There will be separate practice-qualification-race sessions but you stay connected the whole time, it automatically moves between sessions just like GTR2.

Does that explain?

Would be nice but doubt it. Will probably join only quali and race :)

Speaking of dragon, here's a good one - don't tell it to mother-in-law!!!

Two graveyard workers talk over a pint and one of them is complaining:

"Man, just today, we burried a bloke who weighed at least 300 pounds, my arms are knackered"

and the other one said:

"Stop complaining, we burried a mother-in-law and we got such a strong applause that we had to bring up three times for an encore"

:)

Yep you need to be joining us alright Mike - you're the only one who can actually comment on half of these tracks! Cheers for posting the vid, has definitely got me in the mood! Loving the telemetry btw, nice touch ;)

OK JETTA PEEPS, FIRE 'EM UP! YOUR SERVER AWAITS!

That was actually good fun :)

Top 4 in qually were split by less than a tenth  :o  But I blew my chance of winning at the start.  I.... errm... didn't.  I wasn't sure if you could do a clutch start and assumed I could just drive away like every other car.  No, you can't and I was sat on the grid fumbling around to get back to neutral and make a proper start.

Passed one car without much bother and homed in on Shark and Oily.  As I got close to striking distance on Shark, he obligingly dropped a rear wheel on the grass and took Oily with him on a trip to the grass.  That left me chasing down Andrew, outbraking him into T1, then the chase was on to see if I could catch Dave for 2nd.  Not quite, but I had fun trying :D

Crikey that was hard work.

Having set a PB in practice and topped the time sheets throughout, I was really frustrated in qualifying not to be able to put a better lap in, only managing third and seeming to give Mike a tow that I really thought he would use to outqualify me, but forunately not.

Got a reasonable start and managed to get alongside Adam Covell into turn 1 and hold it with a good exit from turn 2; had almost cleared him as we headed for turn 3 but the "Clear" call from the spotter hadn't arrived as I needed to turn in, and it was too late to back out and concede the place, so I had to take a massive risk and turn in anyway, knowing there was a good chance I'd get turned over his nose. He realised what was happening and tried to back out but unfortunately either clipped the curb, a bump or another car and spun out, I think taking Ade out in the process. I felt bad about it :'( but I'm not sure what else I could've done under those circumstances. :-\

After that it was mostly a matter of trying to put some pressure on the leader, but that didn't last long as after a few laps I was struggling to get the car stopped for turn 7 and ran wide several times, losing any hope of picking up his tow.

The gaps to James in the lead and Mike in third remained pretty static after that at around 3 seconds. Really struggled with the tyres in the last few laps and Mike got to within 2 seconds at the end, but mostly it was just a case of keeping concentration levels up and not making any silly mistakes.

Unlucky Kruger - I thought that was awesome I have to be honest!! Usually can't stand FWD cars but that was the closest I've come to some wheel to wheel to action...well a little too close actually but what a giggle.

Wasn't expecting much of a turnout for this one but there were enough for some decent racing from where I was sitting/ spinning :). Good to see some new faces in any case and well done James....far, far too fast.

Woo a lap record. ;D

Macros working beautifully there Dave!  ;D

No event this week because of the clash with iRacing's Petit Le Mans - we'll be returning the week after (8/10/10).

Unlucky Kruger -
If it crosses your mind sometimes when planning one of the future races, I wouldn't mind if you did a car/track combo of something that I own, and I do own most of D licence content (until I get some more).

I've updated the inventory list some time ago and I'd love to rub with you guys... ok, that didn't come out too well  ::)

It was all going so well until the second sentence :).

No i hear you mate - the purpose was to use these fun nights as a way to dust off some of the less used content and get some close racing going but that doesn't rule out the class D cars by any means.

Just a hunch but rumour has it you should be good for the next race (08/10/10) ;).

Oh, bugger mate. Don't have that track yet. Its in my cart for the next purchase but don't know when that will be.

Would have bought it but I'm switching bank so had to cancel the card (mentioned the conundrum with them yesterday).

Sorry mate, I know you did your best.

Dammit - sorry that's my fault Kruger, I've actually got an inventory list too!

For some reason I assumed everyone had this one but that was a little bit stupid with hindsight.

Really is a great track, if you can find a way to get hold of it you won't be disappointed.

Its definitely on my shopping list for next round of purchase, along with Star Mazda, Ford Falcon, Brands, Road America, Mosport and Silversone.

Then I will only be missing Infineon, Sebring, Phillip Island from track directory, and Indy, Riley and Radical on the car side.

Baby steps :)
