(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(5) P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function. You may go as fast as you like in the pits, but please exercise caution. Penalties will be handed out for causing contact in the pit lane. Use your best judgement when making your pitstop during the race.

This event marks the start of a short season with the GT cars. Race 1 is with the slowest cars in the group. Race 2 will open up the Orange group and race 3 will open up the Green group. I plan to do 8 races in the GT cars and a fun race in between at 1999 Hockenheim in a rippin fast car. This should get us done with the season leaving plenty of time to visit friends and family for the holidays.

Early testing shows the L76 and the Mustangs work best on this track (for me at least). I'm running 1:37's on full tanks.

The track is fun for driving around but every race I've ever had in GPL ended in the Esses on lap one because someone thought it looked like a good place to overtake.   ???

I'm running 1:37's on full tanks.

Might want to take those sandbags out now Mike  ;)  Even i am managing 36's and 37s with race fuel  :o and it never happens that i am on the same second of the clock as you

Perhaps all my ALMS viewing for several years has paid off at this great roller coaster track  8) This one seems a tad narrower than the real deal though!
Needs those VirtuaLM guys to get their mitts on a conversion.

I am managing 1.40.4 with some space left for improvent , so if you don't want to start at the back.......  :D

Hope to make it for the race because I have 2 appointments in the afternoon leaving a tight schedule

well, well, now  . . .  my guess is, that the top 5 in the quali will all go below 35, and the top 3 below 34, and pole position will be a low 33 or even a 32   :o :o

The 37's were early days.  I too noticed the layout was too narrow. I think I remember another version of this track that is a little better. No where near the VLM quality though.

Mike, there is a Road Atlanta 2007 track layout available. Not sure if its only in the states somewhere but i know the NAGP crowd use it for their racing leagues. They also have a very tasty looking Road America. This is what their administrator had to say about it...

"It has come to my attention there is a new Road America 2008 out...not the NeelJ version (Elkhart lake) but one apparently from Race07 or Raceon?
I have tested it and I must say, IMO, It appears to be the most accurate and honestly the MOST immersive! FPS wise it seems to be okay".

edit, tracks available here on filefront:-  http://www.filefront.com/16314145/NAGP_Monday_S12_Track_Pack.rar/

Maybe we can use them in upcoming rounds.  :)

Dang, stigs on 35's already...back to the track for me then  :P  Only tried two of the cars so far and think i could get into 36's at least with a few more laps. I stopped when i was already quicker than Mikes posted times thinking i was fast enough!

managed to get a low 36 with the TransAm, 37s with the vette roadster, 39s with Weslake Falcon
don't think I can go any faster without taking huge liberties with kerbs.
Can't remember which was which now, but I sometimes have to rename the download from  xxxxx[0] to
xxxxxxx.exe  I think it may be an IE 64bit thing.

I consider the kerbs to be white lines, i.e always keep min 2 wheels on the inside.

Anyway, as Clive has already pointed out, this race will mostly be about getting to the finish line ( for me anyway ) ;D

I'm getting really brassed off with the lack of interaction with other racers in PnG.

I spend all week practicing the track on my own and then turn up on race night to find that I'm miles off the pace.

Think I'll go do some GPL tonight as I will be able to find some humans to play with!

Hope I can get the same speed during quali / race tomorrow

Take your meds and calm down Clive  ;)

If i had known you was on the server would have joined you as just had an unexpected spell of free time. 1:36:016 PB for me now  :) Praccy does seem a bit dis-jointed lately, maybe we need to state some un-official times/days and see if we can get a few more heads on track. I alas usually just grab a spare half hour whenever i can.

Hello guys! I would like to see if I solved my issues with the track, but your server seems to be offline at the moment.

However I tried some laps offline with the Z06 and with the L76 Roadster. The second one is sensibly faster! 1.34.0 after 5-6 laps, but with the chance to go surely under a little bit more.

I'm not an engineer, you know... but this is my L76 setup: http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/L76%20roads%20.svm?a=QEChdNU5iws (http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/L76%20roads%20.svm?a=QEChdNU5iws)

Buggar, buggar buggar .......... why didn't I do as I had planned? I Should have started from the back off the grid, but I was tempted to mix with the top drivers.
Not a good idea,... had a slow start and ended up in the danger-zone = midfield - - - and wupti ... yet another DNF for old Hotkeys
:-[  Someones car spun in front off me in turn one, and I wasn't fast enogh to avoid hitting it - damage didn't seem to bad, but it was ..  the car was too difficult to handle.

Argghhh.... a lot of practice for a 12 second race  :P :P.

Hope you guys had a good one, the track was nice.

Mmmm,  made it mid-race and went for the pitstop.
The guys were ready but where ever I parked the car they didn't do anything. So just quit after pressing every button in 2 minutes time
I probably did something wrong .

Sorry Senior Dan, for the contact on the straight just after the start. Was behind you and couldn't break on time.

Oh Kippers  :(
That was going really quite well for me, had some great dices at various points and managed to Manji about half the track while battleing Clive ;D (I hadn't changed tyres - not that you could tell! ) and then with about 7 to go I managed to get catapulted off a wall and into space after a moment of distraction  :hammer:

Good race overall, but a bit disappointed with myself.

Sorry to Ade for the punt... didn't think you'd be that slow :whistling:
Managed to finish 6th despite having 3 major offs, all of my own doing ::)

Still, it's always a pleasure to lap MJ a couple of times :-*

If you overshoot the pit, the crew will not service you (even if you back up). You must complete another circuit and try again. I slow to pit very early so I don't have a chance to overshoot.

I really enjoy the track. It is easy to learn, but very difficult to master. When driving on the edge, it is possible to hook the outside rear on curbing so I had to be careful of that in a couple places.

Lorenzo just pipped me by .02 in quali, but I was happy to be on the front row. I caught a great light at the start and left everyone behind giving me a nice comfortable gap to work with the entire race. Manteos, Lorenzo and I think Guieseppe were battling for 3rd so that allowed me to put my head down and increase my lead. Between laps 4 - 10, my dog was really bugging me. He wanted to go out to do his business, but I simply couldn't give up the lead for him. Luckily he held on till the end. Needless to say I wasn't performing my best at that time while he was whining and walking between my chair and pedals. It was a big distraction.

Manteos was slowly closing in on me before the pit, but I was still comfortable with a 10 second lead at the pit. He took too much fuel leaving him a further 13 seconds back after the pit so the race was mine to lose at that point. Not too long afterwards, I caught up to the battle for 3rd through 6th. That was a fiercely contested battle. It was huge fun mixing it up with those guys. FullMetalGasket in the black Z06 was drifting like a man possessed. It was awesome to watch. Once I made my way through, I simply put my head down to close out the deal.

Congrats to Lorezo for fast lap and to Manteos and Ade for the podium places.

1 more track on home soil (I want to build up a little lead before heading to Europe). See you guys at Road America.

Another stupid question... Did you switched off your engine when the pit list appeared? If you didn't, the pit crew doesn't start the pit stop.

Fantastic race for me this evening!!! Some nice overtake between me Giuseppe and Lorenzo, during the first laps let Mike to escape from the group and take a good advantage on us. It was a pity when Lorenzo and Giuseppe had an accident, because by that moment I started to turn alone for at least 40 minutes till the end of the race.

Great pace showed by Mike and especially by Lorenzo, that without a bad start, would have keep quietly Mike's pace. But we will never know this :)

Thx all for another good race! Cu for the next!

Errrrr... I never switch my engine off when pitting and my pitcrew serviced as they should.

Probably it's what Mike said about overshooting. It helps when you 'call' your pitcrew in advance (GTR2 has this feature, GTL does not).

.. and Manteos, we cannot be all as good as you are..

I made a right spheroids of that... HAd forgotten that I was actually faster in the Vette, and took the TransAm.
Setup was pilchards, back end was like on ice. Either lost it myself but think I  was helped into a half spin at T1, and got into someone's way Stig? perhaps?
took some damage, and assumed that was why the car was so awefull so took the earliest stop I could, and took 95 secs repair, only to find that it was just the setup, also forgot to change the fuel preset from 13 laps to max,
so had to take a second stop for fuel. Gamely battled on trying to master the setup and got a PB !
was hard to be consistent though, and had no traction out of corners, ah well good bit'o fun.

Really enjoyed that event despite my own traumas ! It felt like so many of the endurance races i watch, where even if you have problems or have to pit etc its still worth plugging on to get some points or position as others will have their own incidents.

We should start calling this place the bunker as everyone was obviously once again sandbagging  ::) and miraculously found extra time in the qually sesh. :D

Qualied a disapointing 9th despite a mid 35 time :P

Had a great start in the race and made up several places. Got past a few more in the early laps, enjoying some good close action. Then ran 6th? for a long while until a group of bustling 4 cars caught me when i got a bit out of shape. Then it seemed like mayhem argy bargy for the next few laps with some contact and people running wide. For some reason known only to him, Dan decided to stop or slow on the racing line up the hill and i hit him full throttle, smashing my suspension and body damage.  :( No idea why?
Car still felt okay and made my stop a few laps later. Bad idea...accepted the replace suspension tab and it cost me 2-3minutes in the pits  :taz: Not only that, i had been a dumb schmuck and not read the race announcement properly so didnt have enough or put enough fuel in the car :wetfish:  so i exited the pits knowing i had to stop again.
So i did 10mins later and stupidly only put another 10mins in  ::) ..so made a 3rd blinking stop!!   :stupid:
Despite all that, i plugged on and still finished 9th ! ;D  and had 5th fastest race lap i think at the end so could have had a much better finish without the aggro.

Superb track and good mix of evenly matched cars  :thumbup1:

That was a great race, someone to battle with virtually all race. ;D  I was a bit dissappointed with my qually time as I had managed 1.35s in testing, so had to start near the back. Made up several places in the first few laps but then contrived to lose most of them again with some fierce dicing amongst the midfield pack. Had some splendid racing with Clive, FMG & several others until they all pitted early & left me alone for a few laps.

After my stop, i rejoined 5th just behind Clive with Ade not too far behind, but made a mistake at the final turn & lost several seconds & the place to Ade. We all caught up with FMG & had many furious laps until Ade got away & FMG spun off. The last 7-8 laps I was trying to find a way past Clive but the Corvette was quicker on the straight & the twisty section where I was quicker, there was no way through. With a lap to go Clive made a mistake & I tried to take advantage but gave it a bit too much wellie & got very crossed up & lost lots of ground. But happy with 5th, better than I expected after qually!  8)

Congrats to Mike, Manteos & Ade. :thumbup2:

Won't be able to make next week, so cya all at Silverstone. :thumbup1:

Glad you enjoyed it Mike  ;D
I hate understeery cars and that combined with taking no tyres on my stop and an entire race of opposite lock was certainly making the 'Vette fun by the end of the race

Amusingly there were some points where dispite braking for tricky corners at large angles I was still outbraking people to quite some degree (In fact I had to bin it a few laps before I fell out to avoid Clive who braked extra early on the final corner exiting the valley. Think he'd made a mistake) I was struggling to put the power back down again on the exits though!

All very annoying as for about 3 laps it looked like I may even pull off 3rd until then, nevermind.
These things happen in racing  :)

Really looking forward to the next race if they continue like this  ;D

.............. before I fell out to avoid Clive who braked extra early on the final corner exiting the valley. Think he'd made a mistake)

Quite so.   ;D

I got in a bit of a tankslapper and had to ease off or go off.  I didn't feel at all at home in the race and my L76 seemed too lightly attached to the tarmac for any seriously fast lapping.  I chose the black one because its Firestone rubber would get me to the finish without a change.  Wasn't sure about the others.

I too was bemused at the Full Waza sideways style.

I had a couple of half spins that messed up my race but 4th is probably about all I could hope for.

For SBRC it would have been better to be 5th with Lorenzo up ahead of me somewhere.  Any idea where the lad got to?

Grats to Daan for finishing (I think) and thus helping the cause, and grats to Lorenzo for his pole position and FL.

We just have to work on getting our fast lads to the finish.  ;D

Well done to Mike, Manteos and Ade.

Some great racing with Geoffers, Ade, Tim and the usual crew.

These enduro races (at least that's how it felt like) tend to generate some 'Fog of War' so I thought I might give this a go (again):

Unofficial LapChart (http://www.justanotherpage.nl/Srou/PnG/RoadAtlanta/)

Report from the back of the grid:
After qualifying just before the Doctor's Car, I managed to circumvent the melee with several cars spinning.
After the dust was settled I had some nice racing with Legzy and Mad Matt who - due to the track layout - could not pass me at once so I could annoy race them for a few laps.
But alas.. soon they disappeared at the horizon and remembered an intersting read from the GPL section about Zen en 'Getting into the Zone'.
Unfortunately my front right tire was not in the Zone and quite overheating after two laps.
Decided to stick with my Herr Doktor Ullrich pitstop plan and tried to ignore my excessive tire wear.
Blinking fuel lights and a nearly entirely worn tire brought me back to reality and in a last moment panic decision I literally fell from the hill over the grass into the pits.
Fortunately me teamie woke the pitcrew with his earlier pitstop (I guess recruiting your pitcrew during the Leidens Ontzet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Leiden) festivities with lots of rum and cheap whisky does not help) and begrudged they went to work.
Won some places but my fellow races were 'somewhat' quicker so lost advantage after a few laps.
At the end of the race I was fortunate to finish 8th because my decision to come in earlier left me with only 1 liter ( .3 gallon (?)) left in the tank.

Congrats to Mike and Manteos for showing such speed and car control.
Congrats also to my teammate for your race pace. Quite fast I must admit.

Next week I cannot attend because of work. Have a good race!

Looks as though Mike's pit stop was 20sec faster than mine.

I shall have to send my pit crew on a training course.

If you click on the track download link for this race Clive & then scroll up half an inch... I think you'll find the download you need ;)

p.s. The servers were all up & running (even if it was the race password :-X), so there must have been a blip or something that dropped the link to lobby. Restarted them now so should be fine again.

Just noticed i still earned 12 points for this race so proves its worth plugging on to the end in enduros!  :)

I very nearly quit when my car got almost totalled in an unnecessary incident but endurance throws up all sorts of challenges to different people...mines pitstops  ::)  Shame i was robbed of a good battle in the top 6 but had fun all the same racing to the end including taking out nearly 36secs of Alex's time ahead of me...until i had to make a 3rd splash and dash  :-[

It says Road America (Bend) whatever that means.

Legzy's advice is to download Road America from the UKGTR tracks but hey, this is Mike we are dealing with!   ;D

Might turn out to be the little known Road America Scotland version that he has taken a shine to.   ;D

If I was a betting man Clive, I'd predict the following line up at the next race;

Quote
Chevrolet Corvette L76 Roadster
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe (excluding white #5)
Ford Falcon Weslake
Ford Mustang Trans-Am

Orange (average finish 6+)
Ford Falcon Mann
Ferrari 275 GTB/C (excluding Speciale)
Shelby GT350R SCCA
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe (white #5)
Ford Mustang AATC Gr5 #01
So if you did well at Atlanta you'll be in the same cars (or if you didn't race)... While if you finished outside the top 6....

I've just managed to watch Thursday's replay (nothing else to do cos I don't know the track for next week  ::) ) and I realise that I owe Mike an apology.............. or sixty.

Sorry Mike, I had no idea that you were mixed in with our fight.  I cant remember who it was that I thought had passed me around the outside of those two corners but I certainly didn't expect to find that it was you.

PnG could do with some flag marshals.

I only start looking at the top left of my screen when I want to mess up a pit stop!  I assume that had I done so then I might have seen a blue flag.

Very sorry.

Sorry I haven't been around guys. When the opportunity to go racing comes up, I've gotta take it. I was at New Jersey Motorsports park this weekend. It was a last minute deal to race with a friend in an enduro. I'll post the Road America race details tonight. Quickly though 22 laps ...

1-5 are in
•Chevrolet Corvette L76 Roadster
•Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe (excluding white #5)
•Ford Falcon Weslake
•Ford Mustang Trans-Am

6-10 are in
•Ford Falcon Mann
•Ferrari 275 GTB/C (excluding Speciale)
•Shelby GT350R SCCA
•Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe (white #5)
•Ford Mustang AATC Gr5 #01

11+ are in
•Shelby Cobra 289 Roadster
•Jaguar E-Type Lightweight (all)
•Shelby GT350R CASC
•Chevrolet Corvette L72

Download Road America from the standard download page.

Edited the group splits

LOL... you never know what I may come up with.
I have no idea what Bend means either. It was in the track list that way. We will run the standard version of the track; not the motorcycle version that has a chicane before the kink.

This event marks the start of a short season with the GT cars. Race 1 is with the slowest cars in the group. Race 2 will open up the Orange group and race 3 will open up the Green group.

Mike, I thought you were doing it like this?

I was planning that way originally, but decided I want to get some of the green group running right away to give others a more competitive chance earlier. I'm also looked at results more carefully and found the split at 5 for yellow is better than 6. Extending the green group to start at 10 should help to give those at the bottom of the finish order a more competitive edge.
