Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(5) P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function. You may go as fast as you like in the pits, but please exercise caution. Penalties will be handed out for causing contact in the pit lane. Use your best judgement when making your pitstop during the race.

I updated the spreadsheet. With that fine 7th place finish Clive you can continue to enjoy the yellow group cars.
The next round is Silverstone '70. I probably should have switched the order (old then new), but the championship is already setup. We'll do something similar with Albi later in the season. It's nice to see changes in the course configurations over time.

Especially the original version.  :P

LOL, yes even my maths had figured that one.

Perhaps I should investigate the Falcon.  Trouble is that I'm feeling quite comforable in Lorenzo's L76 from Atlanta and at the end of the day it's what you can keep on the track that counts for most.

For sleepyheads like me: the track is listed under Northamptonshire GP (or something like that).
Oh, the installer likes to paste /GTR2 behind the selected install directory.

Can't see the Falcon offering any salvation.

I'm at 2:16.xx in the L76 and 2:19.xxx in the Falcon, even though the latter has an advantage of some 10kph on Hanger Straight.

I suspect, that this race might become very, very close !

With some very generous setup-help from Mark J, I can now manage a 2.14.500 lap in the only full-bread racer available.

So, what lap times are you guys doing here ?

You need to try it MJ. My verdict: an excellent balance between challenge and fun...kind of somewhere between PnG and GTL. Much more enjoyable to race than the PnG iroc imho.

Great time Stig!  Just keep it rubber side down and on the grey bit and you should be in the money.  ;D

I don't know what the L76 was bred for, picnics I think, but my Sunday Best is a 2:16.3 in qually mode.

Don't think I will be bothering the front of the grid.   ::)

It's correct..  I was wondering the same thing last night about Road America.. I then tried to do some off-line testing and couldn't figure out where the heck was Silverstone? Or even BritishGP as the location file was named... :-\  Then I finally realized it was named "Northhampton".. Must of chased my tail for like 20 minutes before I figured it out  :-[ ;D

Can't get under 2.19 in anything in the yellow group, so looks like I'll be at the back this time!

Don't know how Clive manages 2.16 in the L76  ???. The car seems to handle well, turns in nicely & behaves well under power but I could only get 2.20 out of it, must be doing something wrong!

Falcon is awful, lots of power but can't get a setup that stops it understeering on corner entry & oversteering on corner exit. Just got in 2.19s with it.

So looks like the Transam again for me, consistent 2.19s with that.

Cya tonight. ;)

Downloaded the track last night but havn't driven it yet.

Now to get my excuses out of the way - I really dislike the modern layout of Silverstone, it bores me to tears even when driving it in real life :-\
Quite looking forward to next week on the original version though, should be a blast in these tanks  ;D

Havn't picked my chariot for tonight yet, may go with the Mann Falcon as I like it - but it won't be the same with the default sounds and interior...
Guess I could always edit that? Will changing the sound file in the .car get me kicked from the server? or will I just have to rename the sound files to match?

I may be wrong, but I don't think the sound files affect online play.

Soundfiles themselves don't change anything gameplay/physics related, but it depends how you implement them from a server POV.
My 'own' Mann Falcon (Custom paint inside and out, plus different sounds) has the Mkii GT40 sounds (Maybe not 'right', but really suit the Mann ;D) activated through an edited .car file - I'm fairly sure that can cause server mismatches though as I believe you can alter the engine type in there.
I still havn't tested that theory (Been meaning to try fitting an L88 engine into an Abarth for giggles ;D) but it certainly looks as though you can do that....

I'm able to join the server. Maybe you can uninstall and then delete the track files GT. Files are found in \GameData\Locations\BritishGP.

Naming the track Northhamtonshire threw me off early on too. I should have added that in the race anouncement.

I had a nice little race going until my computer gave up on me. I hope my car corpse didn't put anyone out while it layed there stricken online just before Bridge.

I had a great start getting 3 or 4 positions off the line. Had a nice quick battle with Legzy and then a good 8 lap battle with Matt and MJ. Hope everyone had a good race.

Bad race from my side.
First lap I miss my brakingpoint completey and slam in the back of Clive's car , very sorry for that.

After that I just couldn't get the focus right and made too many errors ending up side down on the start finish line  >:(
Hope to be in a better shape next week.

p.s. I told you I'd have enough in the tank to out-qually MJ.  Easy, I tell ya! ;D

Great first half of the race where I sort of could keep pace with the rest of the field.
After that I tried to be smart by pitting late but front tyres were totally ruined (that's why I braked early).

Next time I will stick to a Sauber-esque pitstop strategy  :sleep1: because this time I mingled with the fast guys... and it was obvious my pace wasn't good enough.

Too bad about the smallish field. Wonder where all the regulars are from a couple of seasons ago..

Replay And Results Posted

Good race. Had a dice with Mike's wide Mustang, then kept MJ at bay for the run up to the stops, only took fuel
and was suffereing with pace, MJ 17 secs behind, closing at half a sec or so a lap, with only a few to go
would have held him off except I got an instant - no previous guv - stop and go for going wide at Stowe.

You could ask the same question about every single series here at the moment. Every single SIM run here (iR/PnG/GTR2/GTL/Race) is getting just about 15 drivers per race on average. But then a couple of seasons back, we were only running three SIMS. :-\

Go back a little more & we only ran GTL & GTR2... full grids every race!

We may need to start alternating sims each season? I know it is even more sweet to drive my Porsche after being away from it for some time. That 1st drive each spring is the best.

Had high hopes for a podium for this race and was very happy to have a good qualy. Then I noticed that I had the harder tire on for qualy :-[.. At first I thought what a dope ::). Then I realized that I might just have better race pace then the other Ferrari's if they had qualified on the soft tire. At the start I got a decent launch and was able to follow FMG past Lorenzo for second place.. FMG was able to gap me by a couple of seconds and Lorenzo was right on my bumper. After a couple of laps I was able to get back to FMG. Got side by side going just before turn 2 and we had a nice side by side through the s's. Nice car control FMG ;). Then in the lead I was glad to see that FMG now had his hands full with Lorenzo..After a short time Lorenzo then got to 2nd and was back on my 6.. Bigtime!! We then drove like we were connected for many laps till Lorenzo had to pit. I have to give Lorenzo big props for being a true gentleman ;).. A very classy driver who could of given me a bump and run at any point in our battle. Instead we had a great battle without either of us making a mistake :). I started the race with a full tank so I was bale to go 17 laps before pitting. After my stop. I noticed that edit:FMG(thought it was Legzy at first, being same color car) had exited with me now in second place.. I was then in cruise control until the car behind had changed colors from FMG's blue Ferrari to something red... Gulp... It was Lorenzo again :o So I went back to driving 10/10th's and hoped it would be enough.. In the end it was and I was able to get the win :D Congrats to Lorenzo for a hard fought 2nd place and to Legzy for a solid podium finish :).  Good racing all around fellas ;)

Started eighth and finished eighth.......................but the future is ORANGE!!!!

Will have Lorenzo's Mustang next week.   ;D

At the start, a Ferrari in front didn't move and that allowed me to be passed by a few.

Then I was embroiled with some lap one goings on that dropped me back to 13th.

Had some good fun with Alex, hope you didn't mind the odd friendly tap just to stop you forgetting me.

Watched Stig do some grass cutting.  I think he must have the contract to keep all the infield and verges under control.

Ade and I have finished within a place of each other for the first three rounds and I ended this race trying to close the gap but ran out of laps.

WD Ade and grats to Navin, Lorenzo and Legzy.

Anyone taken a look at who is leading the driver and team standings?    :whistling:

It would be good if we could have the server switched over to the next track asap so that I know that I have the right one and that it works.

I had a great race last night, shame I messed up in T1 about 5 laps in and gave Navin a run on me - It quickly became clear that the main reason he was struggling to get close was due to the attentions of Lorenzo!
As soon as Navin was past I was faced with the same problem and seemed to loose my ability to lap fast consistently  ;D
After a lap or so I made an error and Lorenzo snuck by aswell leaving me to fend off Legzy, who had the initial advantage (I think I must have slightly cooked my tyres fighting Navin and Lorenzo) until I finally got it together enough to open a small gap on him.

Legzy pitted at about the halfway point while I still had plenty of fuel and decided to stay out for a few more laps in the hope of minimizing pit time.
I don't know who made the 275's fuel guage but they did a fine job of replicating Italian electrics.  :hammer:
The Fezza was showing full for the first 5 laps or so before the guage then started on a rapid nosedive towards empty - I foolishly took this to mean I was getting better milage than the setup screen predicted so removed a few liters from the preset top-up.
I also didn't change tyres this time around having lost time at Road America due to an accidental full change - This time It cost me as although I left the pits in 2nd (From 3rd) Lorenzo caught me at about warp factor 9.
With a few laps to go and my tyres starting to show signs of imminent death Legzy caught me again - instead of the protracted battle of the first half he wafted past me within a few corners this time while I could only watch...
MJ started to worry me towards the end of the race when my tyres were well and truely worn out (would be curious to see my final lap times ;D) but then he suddenly dropped back after getting to about 5 seconds of me.  :sweatdrop:
This was especially lucky as I'd spent the final 3 laps short shifting and coming off throttle early to preserve my remaining fuel vapours (Fuel light started blinking about 1/3rd of the way into the penultimate lap! :o ), after finishing I switched to the outside view and discovered I had all of 0.2 of a gallon remaining, so very lucky to make it!

I am now totally amazed that I appear to be 3rd in the championship  :o That won't last  :D

Brilliant racing with those I battled with - Esp Legzy who managed not to punt me whenever I had a minor wobble just after Lorenzo got by  :thumbup1:

Great race yesterday!
I got the pole with an unexpected low 13...
Race was different....
I started slow and the 2 Ferrari's passed me...I knew my pace was very good but was able to pass just one of them and my tires were getting in trouble....The pit was pretty hilarious trying to find out where my area was and decided to change only the front tires...A bad decision.....after a few laps my Mustang was undriveable and had to give up trying to catch Navin.
Congratulation to him and to Legzy.
Thanks to Navin for the battle and for the kind words! Classy man!

Solid driving from the SBR team. KC is nipping at your heels though. With you and Ade in orange and Lorenzo and I in Yellow we've got a pretty fair fight. Hotkeys and Geoffers also have potential of stealing points too. My crew is going through the rig. They are preparing a fresh copy of Windows and a brand new ATI 5870. Think of it as a fresh motor rebuild for the remainder of the season.

Too bad about the smallish field. Wonder where all the regulars are from a couple of seasons ago..

Was thinking on the same line. I see a LOT of good races here but due to real life I can only commit to one race a week (gutted to miss the Avus race).
May take some workload away from the admins also .

Only my two cents and I guess it's up to SRou organizers to follow up or not. I wouldn't mind mixing some historic racing wih newer machinery..

Thanks Alex, much appreciated.  :thumbup1:

And I must say that I was a little hurt when Spanner left the race just because I had passed him in my dune buggy.  ::)

Good racing last night, and although silverstone is a great race track, it felt kinda lonely a lot of the time without a full field.

Enjoyed a good first half of the race battling with several others, including a 4 car scrap with some US beasts and Matts Fezza for a long while.
Made my stop when only 9 secs or so behind the front 4 and with Matt just ahead and thought about leaving the tyres on but for once didnt think they would last to the end as my braking zones were getting longer just before my pitstop. Opted for fuel and tyres, even sticking in a few extra gallons for good measure, but when i returned to the track i had dropped to 25+ secs behind the front boys  >:(

I had presumed they didnt take tyres so i drove like a man possessed for next 15mins or so doing regular 2:15's. Took about 15 secs out of alexvw and when i caught him, had intended to get by in the final sector under braking, but unfortunately his early braking on worn tyres really caught me out and i hit him, so big sorry for that mate. Chased hard after matt and Muttram? taking time out of them all the time but then when i saw Matt take what i thought was a splash and dash with 3 laps remaining, i noticed how low my fuel was! :o I went straight into fuel save mode, driving pretty slowly for final 2 laps as had a good 20+ sec lead, and was lucky to cruise over the line with about 1.2L left...phew. :sweatdrop:

Was pleased to finish 5th, just couldnt keep up with the front 4 after losing so much time behind the pack of muscle cars early on.  :)

Fairly lonely race for me except for the first few laps battling with Alex & Stig. Was heading for 9th place after Stig made his 2nd stop but after getting new tyres he was about 3s a lap quicker & easily hunted me down. I might be a bit more competitive next time in the middle group.

Congrats to the podium.

Just my 10 cents worth on the lack of numbers. Alternating GTL & P&G on thursdays would be my ideal scenario, I would still love to race GTL as well here, but Mondays are very rarely possible for me. Not bothered with any other sim, historic sports & saloons only I'm afraid!
