Following our test race at Valencia in the Clios and the subsequent feedback, we now have a revised season featuring the same tracks, but using the standard WTCC cars from Race07/GTR Evolution. The format will remain the same; double header sprint races with qualifying for Race 1 and then the first 8 positions from Race 1 being reversed for Race 2.

The practice server will be up immediately following next week's Caterham test race at Silverstone.

Interesting. Didnt tweak too much bt found the bmw quite stable but easy to loose traction on the off camber ??? druids or Graham Hill. Managing 52's.
Surprised to not find the diesels in having tried them in a demo but i guess they were in more recent seasons. Seat is quite twitchy, needs a particular style.

Not sure whether to pick a car and run the season with it, choose a different car for each race or just go for the quickest car at each track. Choices choices.

Which beemer did you try spanner? E90 seemed a bit awkward round here for me, whereas the E46 felt much more at home. The lady Leon was a little quicker for me and I'll be able to pop to the shops on the way home  :)

Ok, its was the '07 Priaulx car, E90 i think. Chevies are quite nice if you dont lift, too much understeer trying to turn in off throttle though i noticed after the coast diff is quite high.

Despite the thought of racing saloon cars makes me yawn, i will try and attend at least the first race if i can. Have used up all my good boy tokens with a 3 day beer fest in Berlin, so may be tricky!  :P

The track is a bit tight for these cars but it will do. I expect a great race. 8)

Any reason why the weather cannot be variable and is simply set on dry...

I Like. :)

51.7 for anyone interested, but I'm sure I'll knock another sec off that. :P

Good point.....I'll look into RL conditions (based on BTCC season which this season was originally based on) and try to replicate this. Throwing the curved ball of variable weather might alienate some drivers, so simple and predictable is the way to go methinks.

Edit: One of these days I'll get the knack of inserting quotes to my posts ::)

From previous races GoldTop variable weather can make for a very interesting session/race, on the other hand the curved ball might encourage drivers like my self to give this a go especially as it will add another dimension to things :) part of the appeal of race07/Evo is the realistic weather 8)

If the weather will not be fixed and stated in advance of the event please say so now, then I know not to to bother. I'm not in the camp of variable weather adds something positive to the races/racing but I'm not adverse to a race where I know the conditions up front and can at least do 5 or 10 laps to get a feel for it.

got to say...shock horror...i actually enjoy these!  :o Just tried a full grid at Brands and it was pretty intense full on racing. When i tried them last week briefly they seemed too slow but thats because i tried them straight after the Caterham race. Now i havent been near simracing for a week they felt great. As usual, the sounds and gfx are stunning, making the cars look real.  8)
Hope i can make at least the first race but 50/50 chance at present.

Still prefer GT racing  :-*  ;)

Wednesday is a tough night for me to race, I usually can't start driving till about 8:30 & so still feel quite 'rusty' when we start. On top of that, my daughter as refusing to go to sleep tonight & I had to race with my headphones round my neck so I could listen out for her leaving her room ::). I only had to park up once (to send her back to bed) in the end, but it's surprising how much you rely on hearing your engine/tyres when sim racing... & so I was a bit average tonight.

That's it, other than my cats ate my homework, I'm all out of excuses ;D

p.s. I've only had the chance to try the one car so far, but it feels decent to me (BMW E90).

same as Legz, wedsnesdays are pretty tough for me to get near the pc yet alone race so didnt get to enjoy the experience without any decent praccy. I was woefully off the pace in the Alfa, smart as it is, just suffered too much understeer as not sure how to setup a fwd touring car !? Racing was decently close and cars looked good belting round Brands.
Could only stay for race 1 without calling in the U.N.  ::)

Those Italian women, eh? ;)
Couldn't get close to my pb in quali. Start was funny: I was able to get 3 or 4 places right of the bat - was it 'cause of the beemers RWD?
Car was ok until the tyres were worn above 10, then it was a real struggle. Is it suppose to be like that? It felt like FWD has the advantage in that stage of the race, just couldn't get the power down. AI was in the way, I lost 2nd place 'cause of it in the first race. :-\

If we can somehow mod the tyres usage or make use of the harder compounds (like in PorscheCup mode) we might get a test endurance race chance. Otherwise short stints like this are the only option.

Grats to podys and Mcfids for overall win. :thumbup1:

Really enjoyed that, chance to actually be involved in some racing ;)

Though i did think i was back at gamerscrib after the first lap, with people falling off all over the place! I guess with the close racing means you need to know whats going on around you all the time. Was undecided what to take and picked the Alfa to be different but have really felt the tyres go away after only a few laps so was a bit apprehensive about the race distance. Early on i had a comfortable gap around but could see people coming up from behind and meant i was going to struggle in the last few laps which i did.

Started in second and thought i was doing quite well but the pressure got to me and ended up dropping back through mistakes and lack of grip into druids and Graham hill.

I struggled adjusting to the touring car mindset!  But bring it on!

A great start to the season last night, with close racing throughout.

Very surprised to nab pole after making some last minute diff adjustment and putting together an almost perfect (for me) lap.

Had a great start and opening lap in race 1 which gave me a little breathing space for a few laps which helped settle the nerves. Pushed a little too much which hurt my tyres and was reeled in by TT. After he'd made a mistake it left me clear and I was able to ease back a little and save my tyres for a steady drive to the flag.

Race 2 was excellent. Had a nice start, but got boxed in by an ai driver going through Graham Hill bend. Tried to muscle my way through on the inside but came off worse endeding up on the grass ::). Chased back but had to bail out of a move on Matt at Clearways and went to the gravel putting me last but one. Had a great chase back through and finished about amm off spanner's bumper at the line. Great stuff 8)

I've had a few public server races in WTCC which have been appauling, but I must say the standard I witnessed last night was as close and as competitive and fairly contested as any I've experienced 8) Can't wait till the next round :)

Congrats to both podies and all who took part.

What does "reeled in" mean? I don't remember having a contact with your car, so this must be one of those strange english words. :P What I do remember was that I was 0,0000000000000000000000000000000000001 sec to late on the brake and went on the grass. ::)
I see we have only the silly British tracks on the schedule - hope in the future we can have some proper stuff. :whistling: Had a superb race on public server - 20 laps @ Oschersleben and @ Brno. These cars are fast enough for these tracks, so I hope to race there in the future. :)

A totally unexpected result from myself but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.

Quallified an ok 9th, especially considering 0.5sec covered the top 10. Got off to a good start as drivers fell off the road in front of me and I found myself in 2nd. Not too much close racing after that but happy to bring it home still in second, albiet with a very worn front left.

Race 2 was much more frenetic. Got up to 3rd again from 7th and I was chasing TT and an AI car. I managed to take advantage of their battle to pass both and take the lead. Kept the gap consistent fro 10 laps before I saw Ade coming through to take TT and then harass me. By this time, with 2 laps to go, my defending had virtually melted my LH front tyre and I couldn't hold off Ade. Happy with 2nd and the overall win though. :)

Congrats to winners. Suffice to say, a thumbs up from me for these touring cars.  ;D

CHortle, Really good fun, watched the replay and race 1 start was a bit manic, SBG and I tried
to occupy the same bit of virtual space which put him off. great shame, as race 2 would have been
better with him.

"Reeled in" as in what you do to a fish on your fishing line to land it...  :)

I see. Though I would never say "land the fish". Is this phrase also commonly used? :) It's logical, though in my language we would say "catch" or "pull it out". Differencies. ::)

Catch a fish yes, pull it out (or in) makes sense , but people talk about, "landing a fish" As in
"I landed a huge pike the other day" usually lies, as in most fishing talk  :)
Reeling in refers to turning the handle on the reel on your fishing rod to wind in the line
and so = "reel in the fish"
Ok I'll shut up now....
