Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk ECCC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=271&theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: The server has the Mercedes crash bug fix installed so you shouldn't need it, but if you want to download it and install it into your Mercedes folder and allow it to overwrite the existing file, please do so. Get it here (http://www.humyo.com/FBLLFrW/Mercedes_300SL_Collision_Bugfix_v1_0_by_InsaneDruid_for_GT_Legends.zip?a=2bPE4VW-HWg)

I was just looking at this a bit closer now it's imminent & getting quite excited about this championship 8)
Then I noticed that it starts on 3rd Feb & ends 29th Dec!!!
With each race being 4 weeks apart, I hope people can commit to the whole season, but realise that often, life will get in the way over such a wide time span. :(

A series this enticing, deserves a fortnightly slot at least!? ???

Before GTL & P&G went fortnightly, I seem to recall seeing that Tony had 4 different GTL series lined up for our delictation, with one race in each every month.

PS: Will this be on Snetterton 64 or the modern Snetterton?

My aim is to get you excited  :o (in a sim-racing way)

I'm still arranging the calender so that the season ends before Christmas, but your right in saying it's a long haul season. There will also be a couple of non-championship "bonus events" thrown into the mix too.

Yes I had to discard two championships but they are on hold for now rather than dropped all together.

It will be the modern Snetterton.

Spent a happy hour or two testing most of the cars. Listed below are the times I obtained, all on a full tank.

These are not  :alien: times so expect some to go a couple of secs faster in competent hands.

If anyone else could post representative times, for whatever they have tested, it would doubtless be appreciated by all.

Lotus Elan 1:21

Porsche 904/6 1:22
TVR

Porsche 904/4 1:23
Ferrari 250
Jaguar E-type

Mercedes 300SL 1:24
Ford Escort
Ferrari 275

Aston Martin 1:25
Renault Alpine
Austin Healey
Volvo P1800
Mini 1310

Triumph TR4 1:26

:) Hi I have just joined SimRacing and this championship looks great may I enter?
I usually race with Simjunkies GTL and P&G but things seem to have ground to a halt championship wise lately so I'm looking for a new Simracing club. I have raced with Geoffers and Bill Thomas before driving Minis some time ago under the name of Dastardly.

Any friend of Geoffers and Bill is most welcome here  :thumbup1:

Of course you may enter, just turn up on the night and race. Best if you check you can connect to the server before race night tho. The GTL server is always running except when other races are on eg GTR2 or P&G etc.

We are also running another GTL championship which has only just started. Details here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=267&theme=5). As a new driver you would be able to have a free choice of any of the cars available  :).

Look forward to seeing you on track sometime soon. Any other ex-sim junkies you can bring here would be most appreciated  ;)

Cheers

Tony

I had problem - sometimes the installer adds a /GTL after you've browsed and selected your installed copy of GTL.  I looked in my GTL root and there was a GTL installed there with the track info.

Try going to 'Controls' page, untick 'Reverse Effects' (or words to that effect) & then tick them again. Other than that, don't know!

Problem sorted after complete reinstall. The problem with GTL these days its so heavily modded .....one small slip and  :o I'm still not sure what was wrong. I can only get the Volvo P1800 when in multiplayer but not single player! Is this correct?  ;D

Yes you will need the skin pack, and I've just spotted that I've not included that important item in the race announcement  :clown:

hello,

i can perhaps drive this race, because of holiday in next 4 weeks i have.
can i only jump in server, or have i do register somewhere (perhaps the races are full often)
is this correct that i do NOT need the ukgtl skin 1.8?
and do in need the ducfreak sound patch (mod.) for this race?

i do not drive GTL very often, so i hope i do make a clean race without hit anybody.

nearly all cars are new for me in this list

Hi Berger

Yes you can just jump on the server and race but you will need to know the password (from the race announcement page  ;))

YOU DO NEED THE SKIN PACK!

You will need the soundpack if you plan to take the Escort. You need to download all the cars so you might as well take the soundpack too.

Try to connect to the server as soon as your able, in case you have problems.

I have added a note about the Mercedes crash bug fix in the race announcement.

According to the readme, as it's installed on the server it doesn't need to be on the individual drivers computers as well.

But if you want to install it, it won't hurt.

From the zip file take MERC_300SL_OBJ.gtl and copy it into your Mercedes 300SL folder, allowing it to overwrite the original file.

That's it, job done.

(testing testing)
Ahhhhhhh, at last they have let me out of my dark rat infested dungeon, once more I can see the light of day rather than
the inside of an Ohio corn store  :o

Not sure what times I was getting, but oddly the 904/4 was quicker for me than the 904/6
Aston was a sec slower than 904/4, and Volvo was a couple of secs slower.
Might give the TVR a run later.

hello,

i have a problem...
i was in ukgtl server with 2 or 3 other people, everything ok.
then did SQTER jump in the server and his name did always blink, blink, blink endless.

what can be the problem? it normaly is something with skins in GTR2.
i saw he did take a triumph, so i did install the download triumph thing again, but same result,
if i did jump in server and do load the names, always SQTER did blink, blink without end.

what can i do?
i have install the ducfreak soundthing too, after i did install all addon cars.

was hopeing i can do this race, but looks not good now... :'(

Hope this can be sorted fairly quickly because I have 0 setups for any of these cars with the exception of the Jag and Aston.

i know now spannner,

my problem was, that i had only a blue 275 and the 274 from sqter i had to buy, and many other 275 i did quick buy.
perhaps this is problem, that he did drive with a car, which i did not had (grey colour)
if this is the problem, then i have to buy every car which can be take for this race.
good that i have this cheat money thing.
hope this is problem.

hello,

this GTL are not easy to drive.

i did improve my laptime in quali a lot and did a 1.18.8xx what was 5ht place.

i had big problems in fight in this cars, if someone is close in front of me, the cars are hard to controll.
during the race i did many many mistakes and so i ended in 9th place, but did 4th fastest race laptime, which i am happy with,
but not with my driving, after perhaps lap 20 i did any spins in corners where before i can easy drive, it looks like the tyres was already not good,
but in XD i had only around 4 or 5% tyre out, so this makes me a bit ??? ???, what happens now...

it was not easy for me to come to good laptimes (for me) in this cars, but in end i was happy with laptimes, now i have to work more for my constants in the races.

hope i can do any more races.

congrats to mike m. and podiums and all other which did finish with this dangerous cars :D

I figured out the setup for the TVR late in the practice session. It was a challenging car to drive. The fact that I looped the car twice in the race helps to prove that. A lot of power and a a short wheelbase = a squirley little car. Ade also made some mistakes. Sqter wasn't quite as quick, but his mistakes, if any, were minor and allowed him to challenge for the top spot with 3 laps to go.

I was getting better traction exiting the turn that leads onto the long straight. I got by Sqtr at the end of the straight earlier in the race after one of my miss-haps. I went for the same move late in the race, but wasn't fully fast him entering the quick left at the end of the straight. He was on the inside and got loose entering the turn and made slight contact with me sending me straight off and he in a spin. I made sure not do make any mroe mistakes after that.

I hope he wasn't upset. He left quite quickly after the race.

:)  A great first race for me with you guys. Ran the Lotus started P8 & finished P7 with some excellent close racing in between. ;)
I hoped the TVR & Porsche boys would get tyre problems towards the end but this didn't really seem to happen at least with the TVR gang, but then again I did not really get to see them way down in midfield.  :'( Everyone I raced with behaved very gentlemanly and it was nice to be in a reasonably good field and mix of cars. Thanks for letting me join and I hope I behaved OK?  :)

We wave good bye to the TVR. Although it was equal in popularity with the Lotus Elan, it finished higher in the results and that's how I will decide between makes that end up equal.

Great race for me, spent nearly the whole 36 laps battling with Phil. Very gentlemanly stuff though, only one change of position!  :o

Was a bit dissappointed with qually, I had done laps in the 1.18s in testing (1.18.1 best) but couldn't get under 1.19 tonight  ??? Got into 5th place on lap 1 when a couple of Porsches made a mess of Sear, looked like I was heading for a lonely race as the top 4 were pulling away & those behind were falling back. But after 5 or 6 laps I started to close up on Phil's TVR & from then on there was rarely more than a second between us.

Nearly all came to grief when we caught Bill at Russell, I got very out of shape coming out of the bend & was heading up pitlane, but just managed to get back on track before hitting the pitwall  A few laps later Phil was a bit slow out of Russell & I managed to get past into Riches, our only place swap! Phil stayed close behind for the rest of the race & we were a bit lucky to gain a place on the last lap when Ade spun off  ::)

Congrats to Mike & Sqter :notworthy: & thanks for a good race Phil. :thumbup1:

Great driving Geoffers, you had the patience of a saint waiting lap after lap to make your move.  :euro:  After that it was all I could do to just try and hang on to your coattails. Superb stuff.

A bit of a late decision to take the Porsche, but again it proved to be a fantastic ride. I was quicker in the TVR and the Elan, but found the Elan a bit boring round here and the TVR a bit too exciting :o

All my race reports seem to be the same these days. A good start off the grid closely followed by a big mistake on lap 1   :wetfish: then a few close battles as I claw my way back. This was the case last night as I almost spun it pulling on to Rebbit and scrabbled around on the grass losing a good few places. Had a nice chase back though and had some great racing with Mark, Berger, Pelle and Legzy until just past mid race when I found myself in a bit of a gap which remained to the finish.

I had a bit of a moment going into the chicane with Berger. I was caught out by the braking of his heavier Porsche and found myself locking up, skewing me over the curb on the entry. Thankfully we managed to avoid contact, but I hope I didn't give you too much of a shock.

Thanks Tony for a good car/track selection and the race.  All of a sudden you seemed to hang it all together and catch, pass and go away from me very quickly.

It's nice to race on a track you know in a car you're happy driving.  Had a number of laps battling with people, the best when Syd and Matt must have had a coming together allowing me to get pass them.  Had a few laps with Syd behind me he got by fairly quickly but Matt had more problems with his Jag, he worked out where to do it, the right hander after the bridge, and we had a few close encounters on that section after the bridge.  After he passed me he had a moment allowing me back in front but he passed me on the same corner I only just missed his rear end by inches through the corner as he squirmed on entry to the right hander.

I guess doing a quick count the TVR and Lotus will be missing for the next race in the Series.

Indeed Bill is right, we did have some good tussles, My braking seemd a lot later than most other people
and I tapped GT on lap 1, then Syd later on.
I had a half chance of keeping up with Syd, but was struggling
to know where he was going to go next, some but not all was warping, as his car jumped around a bit
he was a bit quicker over a lap, and i kept falling off/going wide trying to keep up
i think I battled with and eventually passed Bil at least twice. They were the highlights of an
otherwise tedious race. With the forums being down I had forgotten what cars were valid
so had only tested Aston and 904s Didn't know TVR was an option untill Thursday
My history in it has always been major disasters later in a race, plus I could only just
manage 21's with no real setup time, so went for jag as it seemed fast enough and nice
and stable, and it turned out to be neither :o

Took an age to finally get GTL up and running, tried a few cars but settled on the new porsche which felt brilliant compared to alot of others. Got nudged on the first corner as i decided to brake for it and ended up last and worked my way back up to around 10th in no-mans land with large gaps each way but then Berger started droping further and further back then managed to get the hang of it and managed to climb back up sadly. As the race went on i was struggling into the chicane at the end of the back straight, i would loose the back and almost hit the wall as i ended up turning in early so ended up picking up a stop go.

You didnt need to chuck it at the scenery Alex when i came past :-[

Enjoyed getting back into it after a long time away.

One nill to me then Bill  Hope to repeat that form in Portugal.

Just one make goes per race Bill and the TVR is removed from future races.

Respect to Phspok and Alex for taking less popular choices, for whatever reasons. I couldn't decide what to drive on the night and ended up taking the Lotus, however I just couldn't get my setup right and actually found her bit of a handfull. Had some fine moments with Matt and Bill and loved the burble of those Porsche cars as they passed me by. Seems that Cosworth has some computer problems otherwise he would have joined in too.

Nice to see a good mix on the grid although I know some of you are questioning the series format. The choices at the beginning and the end of the series will be much easier than say the middle third. Sorry for all the downloading but once it's done it's done. Some are saying that it's not necessary to buy all the cars. They may be right but I always do so don't actually know  ???

Portugal next and if you have never raced at Porto your in for a shock  :o. I have some great memories of this tight twisty circuit. One being Tibs reversing out of a run off area into the path of a rather irate driver, who was later reprimanded for his "colourful" language.
This track actually featured in the Classic Cars TV series so it's right that it should be part of our ECCC.

Hope to see you all there.

PS Please drive at least one lap online BEFORE race night, please  ;)

No, thanks for link.  You have an entry under home  https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php which gives you the complete list of GTL races by Series and date. https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?board=19.0  That was the page I expected to find the entry for Porto on.  From the above I assume when the Porto race is finished you will amend the original page to show the link to the next track and delete the most popular car at Porto.

Rumor has it that there is a secret shortcut through the cornfield at Snett  ;)

No, it was just a case of looking in the mirror and missing the brake point. Rookie mistake..

Hope I did not cause your spin after that.
