There has been allot of interest in GTR Evo on the forums recently:

We can not races on both sims at the same time so we need to decide if we want to start using GTR Evo on Sundays. Just to clarify the options:

1. GTR Evo only.
 -We only race GTR Evo on Sundays.

2. GTR2 only.
 -We only run GTR2 on Sundays as we have been doing.

3. Both.
 -We use GTR Evo one Sunday and GTR2 the next.

We will do our best to go with the most popular choice. :)

Its time to decide what to do next. :)

Both for me. Don't want to discard GTR2 just yet and this way we can see the comparison and decide for S15.

i vote for GTR2 on sunday.

GTR evo is a addon for Race07 and should be drive in Race07 (for clio or caterham).
if GTR evo is drive in sunday, then NO GTR2 is drive and 2 days in a week Race07 with 3 different leagues.

i think the fever? for GTR evo will not hold very long  (what i did know from other leagues)

It's been worked out that it's two different groups of drivers Kerr, that why we (GTR2/Evo drivers) removed our objection to iR sharing our GT racing night, Sunday's. ;)

i voted for both until we can find out what most people enjoy or what works best in the online GT racing world.

Well, ok. I express my oppinion and value others. But I can't accomodate or make a compromise if I don't know another's oppinion. It will have to come out before we start the next season, right? :)

i think when people do a head to head they will quickly see the improvements in Evo over GTR2. Its quite a difference in experience i would say. Try a certain GT car at a track you know well and do the same combo in both sims...and thats from a previously fanatical GTR2 fan  ;D

So 53% of the voters want to see some level of Evo involvement here.

That is about the worst result we could get, as it fails to highlight an obvious path choice for us/H@L to follow. :(

Though it seems that most people voting are still interested in doing some Gtr2.

With only 17 people voting, are we going to enjoy bigger grids next season? :-\ :(

your reading it wrong really as a lot of people put 'both' so that it caters for those on both sides of the fence or those sitting firmly on it ! The idea is for those people to try both sims out in alternate weeks and then make their minds up. Its taken me 2+ years of ignorance in not seeing the many improvement in evo over gtr2 so expect similar from the rest of us !!
If 17 is all that bothered to vote that shows just how low its sunk here, hence needing this new path to try and encourage more in.
When i looked for our server online last nght there were at least 3 other servers with capacity numbers in each ! so proves there are plenty racing evo/race, and they werent weisbeirbude either.

The results suggest to me that we should make some attempt to accommodate GTR Evo races. I now realise that if I had put only 2 options, 'gtr2 only' or 'alternate GTR2 and Evo' and forgot about 'Evo only' then 'alternate between GTR2 and Evo' would have won I think.

However, I will have to follow the results as they are now because people may have many different reasons for their votes, so I propose 1 full season of UKGTR (8 races) and 1 half season of GTR2 (4 races) followed by 1 half season of GTR Evo (4 races). So for 8 weeks we have GTR2 only and then for the other 8 weeks we have GTR2 and GTR Evo on alternate Sundays. Does this sound OK to people? This way we are following the results of the poll but, still giving Evo a chance as the results were so close and giving a bit of time to decide on the cars to use in Evo.

I also have to confirm that the race results and standings tables and things like that can allow for a 4 race season. I think it can be done.

What is netcode? You've mentioned this issue before Jeff, but I've never known what you mean. Just curious  :angel:

It can, seasons can be any length you want.

p.s. You have provoked an idea H@L. Would it be worth splitting the season of eight in two too. So effectively you could have something like:

U14a GT2's & U14b LMP2's alternating weeks for 4 weeks each (total 8 weeks). Then U14c SGT500's & UKEvo1 alternating for 4 weeks.
That would be the length of a normal 16 week GTR2 season, but we'd have tried four different options out & non for too long.

Poll is, as usual, a bit inconclusive. So why rush into a season based on its results? Try some Evo and GTR mods and simply see which is well attended?

Can I just add that not too much should hang on polls. Its a fudge or worse still we get a mod like the Clio one  ???

I'd rather see them introduced sooner so would prefer legzys idea.


You only get the more vocal people voting in the polls, never accounts for the silent majority.

It could just as easily be a non-championship group of races, purely for testing.
It's just that being a series you'll likely get more attending...
You could also double them up, so the four races with SGT500's are half of one season, maybe the LMP2 four races being the 2nd half of that season (total eight races) & you end up with a Gtr2 Mod Champion :)

A pitty we can't test a WTCC race with the Diesel Leons and with the VW Scciroco and Vauxhall Vectra.

Looks like its just you and me PR looking forward to the touring car races in Race07.

Keep your feathers down, PR. :) It's just that majority here doesn't like front powered cars. And Clio didn't improve this feeling. I think either FWD isn't very best simulated here or we don't know how to drive it 'cause it's too much different from RWD cars. I don't have anything against WTCC league here, but in this case I will take the RWD car until someone convinces / helps me to be competitive with the FWD car. :) Bring on classes from Race's possibilites. 8)

I've always been a RWD driver, but I've been racing the FWD Honda at S.nl and I love that car :D . Got a nice setup which makes the car not understeer and actually have almost equal tyrewear. The FWD cars are actually very precise to drive and quite forgiving, they do require a slightly different approach. Slow in and fast out is far more important, and often a later apex helps in these cars to get the power down earlier.

Isn't there a WTCC test race coming up here? I like them but only the RWD ones :)

Yes 4 races would be a short season but, it seems that 16 weeks is a long time to stick to just 2 choices of car class given that the numbers are dwindling. Shorter races definitely works better with less than 15 drivers and I was wondering if it would be the same for the championship length as well. It would make it easier for drivers to attend all of the races in their favourite class would it not?

Maybe we should do a mini, unofficial series for testing instead though and then have a full season. I think that is what we did when we added the last bunch of cars to the car packs if I remember correctly.

Test races definitely coming soon though whatever.

My experience with Front WD cars so far is that I had some good races but, I did not have much motivation to practise. Same with the GT3 class when we used it last time. Requiring less practise time could be a plus at the moment though with everyone playing multiple sims now a days.

After a 90 min race @ RD I'd say do not discard GTR2. Race/Evo is fun for 20, maybe 30 min stints 'cause of the soft tyres. Anything more and the fun comes down to struggle. :) 

but in GT racing, dont they generally change tyres every 30minutes anyway ?  :-\  i think we have been spoiled by GTR2s everlasting tyres. Its always noticeable what a difference it makes to a car when its tyres go off when you watch any kind of GT class racing. As always some cars are better on tyres than others, likewise setups. I havent personally done an EVo/race race over 30mins yet so cant really tell.

Yes, MJ. I was also thinking we could always do 60 min with one stop, as is the case with FIA GT1 2010 Championship. :) I would leave pitstps open and see a brave soul go 1 stint. ;D But I would do some real power cars, GT Pro or GT Sports. Or GT1 mod if it's any good. :) 

exactly, this is what i did write in a other letter, you must be very carefuel with server setting for the races.
doing always races only for save tyres kills the fun totaly, realy realy sad that in Race07 only 1 dry tyres and this tyres are much to fast out, in WTCC it is totaly hard, in every league there are only sprint races like 2x20min or 2x25min as maximum, 30min. with WTCC cars is already much to long without stop.
in GTRevo the GT cars are little better in tyres then the WTCC cars, but much faster out then in GTR2 the med tyres, so 30min. stints are maximum i think what is fun, longer stints and we see many come off tracks and spins.
60min. races can be good, but then nobody do ever pit for fuel, think 140l for GT cars and 100l for the slower GT cars, GTR evo is much more limited for strategy, because it is a Race07 addon and this races are always short sprint races (nearly always double sprint races)
perhaps 60min. races with 1xtyres and 2xfuel is something to test, if it works with 1 stop and doing fuel too, but 30min. with 1 tyres are much harder then in GTR2

GTR2 but, I may try to include a mini series of Evo races. Maybe 4 races, this is still to be confirmed.

Any chance of telling us what the plan is (if any) for the next few weeks? I know the last season has only just finished but it might help some of us reign in our expectations. Plus with Xmas in a few weeks i guess people might be concentrating on other matters.

Test races. Possibly this weekend will be the first one. I will keep everyone informed when I have more details. :)
