Race: 20:40 (60 laps = ~60mins)

This race will use the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#msg54518).

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk BSCC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=267&theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

I think I have to put this on the top.

But I have a problem:

After another virus attack yesterday which destroyed all exe.files on drive C,
I was forced to a complete new install of Windows (internet seems to turn more
and more to a playground of lawless criminality... - after I already lost my online-banking
3 weeks ago due to a trojan (fortunately without any further consequences)).

My game installs (I have 5 GTL, 3 of these online) fortunately are not invovled (hosted on
another partition) but I'm not able to go online again with GTL because something has
changed with my plr-file (wondrously no problem with P&G - GTR2 at all) and always one
certain car will be automatically chosen even if I choose another one.

I looked around for an instruction how to go online with GTL but could not find a thread yet.

I assume that I have to create a new plr-file (I already did once) but can not join the lobby.

Does anybody have an idea where to find an instruction what to do?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Hope to join you tomorrow evening.

After last week's altbierebude problems I could not join the lobby either
probably because i tried creating a new user.
I have now registered my new user on altbiere lobby
and now it lets me join.

Make sure that your file in main GTL folder called LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT contains only this gtl-lobby.bierbuden.de

If you need to, create a new online user. You only need enter a name, no password required.

Thanks for your help.

Found this thread over at GamersCrip:

http://www.gamers-crib.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7088

But whatever I do - no way to join the online servers.

Try again later.

By online servers I'm guessing you mean the lobby.

If you like reading check out this thread https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

but please only read from page 4 or so onwards (actually from here onwards I think https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg120760#msg120760)

Finally I'm back. But I had to write into my LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT the code 91.121.7.48 to join the lobby
again. Maybe there are different ways to join.

Thanks again for your help.

Sorry to hear that Geoff, you were way infront  :(

For those of you (and you know who you are  :whistling: ) who were expecting the usual car selection and were shocked/dismayed/puzzled by the Mini only race, I will say only this.

READ THE  :censored: RACE ANNOUNCEMENT. That's the first post with the picture at the top. This will always tell you everything about the forthcoming event that you need to know.

Historicaly the Crystal Palace event was split into two races, The Small Car Trophy (tonight's race) and the Saloon Car Race (next time in the BSCC).

Cracking race. qualled much beter than expected, and then had some good tussles for the 1st few laps with Cossie until he rolled it
then Ade err who rolled it, then Phil who passed me after I ran into Jack as he came out of the pits right in front.
Tough pit exit here, I guess I should have been watching closer for people exiting.  :o
Ah well, got going again and chased Phil to the end with Ade slowly catching us.

This Sim-racing game can be a funny old affair. Last night during praccy I was out ade'ing Ade and that never happens. For some reason my Mini setup was perfect and I was enjoying the heady atmosphere of the top 5!
So full of new found alieness I set off from the start but soon was passed by a couple of drivers as I got bogged down in 2nd gear. However it was to be a long race so I set off after the leading pack. I thought I could pass GT at the final turn on lap 2 as on the previous lap I had seen a gap that he had left and I had been tempted to squeeze between his car and the apex. Anyway I followed him into the final turn and sure enough a gap appeared so I went for it. Unfortunately we touched and his car started to turn to the right due to my touch on his offside rear quarter. I tried to correct his turn by running along his RHS but the Sim-racing physics gods were not playing along. Consequently GT span off so I slowed to allow him to pass me after he recovered. But he quit out and I was mortified that I had caused him to leave. Subsequently I took a drive thru penalty in penance.
The remainder of my race was spent catching and passing Syd and Alex and trying to real in Tibs but he maintained his speed althrough the race. So I finished 5th and that don't happen ever.

Normal service will be resumed for the next time  ::)

It seems that the Mini is not my car (I don't like front drive in sim racing although I drive a front driven Berlingo in real life - and you can drive it fast if you know the roads for example around the Nordschleife ;)) - especially with this track.

Last place on the grid, during the race the wall was my best friend, hate the understeer  >:(, some turnarounds and rollovers followed by three or four pit stops to repair the car.
So I decided trying to finish the race in spite ot it all.
After my last pit stop I changed my style of driving and surprisingly after that I had my two fastest laps
(fastest in last lap)  :), finishing at a donated 8th and last place due to many dropouts of the competitors.

Let's see what will happen on same track with other cars on next event...  ;D

Was bored to death after passing Phspok and cruising alone for about 10 laps and started to think about other things too much. As a result I lost attention, forgot about the corner and hit the wall at full speed. Oh dear  ::)

Couldn't get comfy with the Mini last and my usual setup variations just weren't working for me. I was a bit ragged on the first couple of laps and had already dropped back from the front chase when Tony clipped my rear. I guessed he was trying to straighten me up but I ended up heading off track into a wall and then disappeared into one of those trippy holes. I've already warned him not to be so quick next time
