Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk ECCC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=271&theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

That's very interesting race format concept - I guess we need to race our favourite car first and if it's still available stick with it.

Raced a variant of this with the NZ brigade - each car could only be used once in the Series.

:) I'm really struggling to get this Porto track. When I go to file front it comes up with an error and the Humyo site wants to extract £22 from my Visa card. The tracks on No Grip but its v1.0 not 1.2. Any help gratefully received.

You don't pay for Humyo. But as I'm signed up for it (free) I probably won't see the same page as you. I'm uploading to Filefront now for you. Check back here in about an hour.

Isnt looking good for new users >:(

What will happen to humyo Free accounts?

humyo Free is not available to new users.

At the present time, we will continue to provide the humyo Free account service to existing users free of charge. Should this change, you will be notified accordingly.

We invite you to try Trend Micro SafeSync which is available free for 30 days, and can be extended free of charge by inviting friends and contacts to join the service. Unlike humyo Free, Trend Micro SafeSync includes access to the desktop backup and synchronisation clients as well as an increased storage space allowance.

All the info here http://www.humyo.com/pages/en/online-file-storage-questions (looks like time for a change then)

What a great city-track   :thumbup2:

Many narrow parts, straights ending in a sharp turn, dangerous sidewalks that can flip your car easily and chicanes that will reward the daredevils ( and the skilled )

There's bound to be lots drama in this race  :P

That sure sounds strange to me. I can manage 2.18.xx in the mini and I saw M. Finch do a 2.15.xx in the Lotus, but in a Healey ?

However my main concern will be to find the car best suited for avoiding other cars   and walls  :scared:

Not my track

Mine neither  :(. Of all the tracks I've raced at I think I hate this one the most. It is beyond me how to go fast here, best I've managed so far is 2.23 in the Escort TC. But I will turn up & cruise round & hope to get a finish. I seem to remember the last time we raced here I only lasted just over a lap, someone spun & caused a big pile up which finished my car. So it will be more a case of luck than judgement I think.

Try the Elan 26 Geoffers, you might get surprised. I only managed 2.24 in the escort, so you can prob ably go a lot faster in the Lotus. I'll PM you my setup.

Sorry that this track is a bit marmite. I wanted to include it in a series as we haven't done it for a while, I like it  ;) and it's not a track that favours fast driving but precision.
If your finding it tough to get to grips with, try learning it in the Alpine then try some of the other cars. One or two will definately feel better at this circuit than the usual suspects.

I have, it was the first car I tried, only 2.25 in it.

Last time we raced here I used the Alpine, did 2.24 in qually with it, but seem to remember I had managed 2.20 in pre-race practice. Might try that again.

That last chicane is truly horrible, just so difficult to see the entry. The track maker should have painted the last concrete block red instead of white, would have been a lot easier to see!

I can take the last chicane flat out in the 1310 but it is all a bit drifty I admit.  ;) You need to soften the suspension slightly this is a very bumpy track. ;D After all it is a public road!!!  ;D Watch out for that bus!!!  ;D

I sure liked your setup Mark, it's VERY good. Still I changed it on several points to fit my driving style and lack of skill. First off all i lowered the gear ratio, and secondly I let some air out of the tyres.

Anyone interested can get it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IJ9ZXGE0

This track seems fun, but how can we use a circuit where there can be cheated so much ?
In at least 3 turns you can drive by rolling up of concrete blocks...& chikane by the 'Pit In' can be taken without 'Cut Track'.
Do we use rules ?...if yes, who watches the replay afterwards?

It's a good thing I enjoyed the practice for this race so much.  ;D

Did a very good quali, a reasonable good start - but still managed to screw up on the very first lap -- waited for the field to pass me -- started to get back in -- only to do a superb duble-axel with a twist by the pit entry  :death:

People like me obviously never learn  :-\

Had some great battles with people, Syd, Legzy and Alex, spent several laps chasing Alex, caught, fell back etc etc
tried a couple of moves up the inside where I was faster but kept making contact, 2nd time Alex bounced off the bales
I waited of course, but he quit, shame if I had passed you would have zoomed back past on the straight anyways
I should have given more room, but I was doing my best in a car with a mind of it's own. Sorry.
Other than thast cloud, a great fun race. Should have taken Elan I suppose, but fancied a run in the A110, problem
was it was a very different speed and lines in some places than other cars, and hard to judge for me anyway.

Not an exciting race from my point of view, but I reached the finish, which was my aim, & even got on the podium!  ;D

Practiced a bit more with the Elan & succeeded in dragging a bit more speed out of it, although still way off the pace of Cossy, Mark & Stig. So decided just to drive at a safe pace & get a finish. By and large that is what happened, although I did clip the wall at the first chicane on the 2nd lap & spun. Lost a place to Syd, but he crashed on the next lap & I got the place back again.

Very lonely race after that, just lapped a couple of people & came home 3rd.

Congrats to Mark & Ade (great performance in the Healey ), & looks like I'm leading the points standings, that won't last, lol.

 :) Great race guys.

Qualified P3 some where in the 2.14s a PB for me here.  ;D Blown away by Pelle off the start slipping down to P4. Pelle also got Stig as well so the battle commenced. I decided to play it a bit cool as it is very easy to destroy your car here and let Stig and Pelle fight it out and enjoy spectating. I had a feeling it might end in tears and unfortunately poor Stiggy spun coming out of T-last so it was now me and Pelle.  ;) I decided not to go for the pass but just to push him hard and it paid off as Pelle clipped the kerb at the chicane and went vertical.  :o  Bad luck Pelle it was a good race while it lasted. At this point I was 5 sec's off a flying Cosworth and I thought maybe if I can just keep in touch he might make an error but as it happened it was me whom clipped the barrier before the last chicane over corrected and spun.  :'( Luckily I managed to keep it in a straight line all be it going backwards.  After this incident I was 25 sec's down on Cossy so again like Geoffers I decided a finish was more important at this stage. Cosworth got the gap up to 35 sec's at one point then it dropped suddenly to about 27 probably traffic I guess. ??? I was very surprised when the message came through that you had crashed Cosworth.  :o I know it is hard to drive at say 90% as you lose your rhythm but you had this race in the bag. Anyway I also found it hard to take it steady to the finish but I could smell the champers.  ;D

Like most I hated this track to begin with but once you find the sweet spot with the car which does take a bit of time its great.
Well done Ade & Geoffers top racing.  :)

But I get "tired" of all that downloading, problems and everything with those "old" games...
That's why I really think about renewing my subscription to that simulator you know... isomething .. but that's another debate  ;)
Hi Fred. Are you the same Fred Joseph from Simjunkies?  :)

I can't believe I was still running at the end. I must have crashed into chicanes at full speed at least five times.

All I did was prove just how fragile the Mini is.  Just clipped the wall before the last chicane and bounced between the walls and failed to pit  ??? - had another crash and shot the suspension completely, wouldn't even drive in straight line.  ::)

Bad luck that Bill, but kudos on taking your beloved Mini. After I hit a tyre wall on the first lap my car also suffered a crab like tendency but decided to persevere rather than pit and be lapped early

Unofficial LapChart (http://www.justanotherpage.nl/Srou/GTL/PortoMar2011/)

Had some great battles with people, Syd, Legzy and Alex, spent several laps chasing Alex, caught, fell back etc etc
tried a couple of moves up the inside where I was faster but kept making contact, 2nd time Alex bounced off the bales
I waited of course, but he quit, shame if I had passed you would have zoomed back past on the straight anyways
I would if I could. After the second impact my engine was dead..
Must admit that I was a bit disappointed with ending the race in the tire wall and throwing away a secure 6th spot with a few laps to go.
But it was a great battle Matt where I had to hold on several times for dear life especially in those first fast corners and I must admit that in equal machinery your pace would easily outclass me. Also had some luck with circumventing some mishaps at the beginning (I recall an Escort backing up  :-* ).

A big bow to the drivers who didn't choose the obvious; I chickened out on this tricky circuit and a special applause to my teamie for stubbornly going on in the orange Racing Team Holland (TM) 904 despite being laps down. You won eventually  ;) .

Till we meet again!  :fencing: (I hope anyway because the server funding issue doesn't look good  :-\ )

Last time we see the Elan  :'( (and the Elite)
Why the Elite also?

Tough race on this track.

First a sorry for Alex for messing up your quali-lap . Luckily you could turn in another good lap.

Race was a bit strange. First had a meeting with Wiltshire Tony who parked his car in the half chicane on the very long straight.
Waited for Tony to get back and started the race again.
All went well untill the end of lap 2 .
Bill braked to enter the chicane before S/F and I braked hard to avoid him.
Unfortunately Spanner decided to use my car to slow down and my car went in flipper mode over the barriers.

Everything worked correct and I managed to drive through a fence at T1.
But because I did not cross the S/F line the appropiate way GTP decided I still was in Lap 2  :(
So 1 lap down to all after just 2 laps driving, that's a good start.

Wanted to stay for the fun and had some fun with Tony for a few moments.
Screwed up the suspension and made a pitstop of almost 2 minutes. Was last already so no harm there.
Rest was just driving and not get in the way of someone else.

Tough race but had fun in the 904/4 :D

I recall an Escort backing up  :-*
That would have been me. I had to guess when all the others had been by me by sound alone.

Last time we see the Elan  :'( (and the Elite)
Why the Elite also?

It's the car manufacturer that counts, not the car type. So if Lotus go it is all the Lotus's not just the Elan. Same for Ferrari, Austin Healey etc

By the end of the race Sandor's Porsche had been heavily "modernised" by the Dutch styling house.

So if the Healey goes do we lose the Mini as well?  ???

No Mike, they are categorised as Austin Healey and Austin Cooper for the purposes of this competition. The categories are shown on the race announcement page.

Last quarter's funds were met, this is now a new quarter, the dial will go up as people get their hands in their pockets.
I had done no practice in the A110 which was probably a mistake at this track, Most of the time I coped with
it's desire to swap ends into T1, a couple of time I ran wider than intended or expected, really sorry that
Alex was unable to carry on. The Renault was way faster through the last sequence - chicane and over the line
than most other cars, the closing speed kept taking me by surprise, once I think I misjudged and shoved  :o
