Note that the server will not be upgraded to V1.50 before this race, so please don't install the new patch yet if you want to take part.

(I'm assuming a V1.50 GTR client would be incompatible with a V1.40 server until I hear otherwise.)

You might be able to re-install the 1.40 patch over it Mark. You might want to backup the files first though.

There seem to be some problems with the patch and the dedicated server, see this thread:

Oh darn, thanks aagram, i should have checked in here first, i just thought as it was basically a 'multiplayer optimiser' patch that it would be a must-have :-\
Game patches arent usually very backward compatible so not sure putting 1.4 over it will work, problem is i wont find out until tonights race ???
I may see if i can re-install GTR on my second drive and use that for tonight.

I run 2 versions on the server, both 1.4 at the mo. I know of people who ran 1.1 for league racing as it avoided the lobby when using direct IP. I'll stick the server up so you've got something to test against.

I guess our worse nightmare is the Simbin ban 1.4 servers/clients from the lobby and we are forced into 'upgrading'. I hope this will not happen.

Thanks Picnic, i wont be able to test it until this evening ie 6.30pm onwards as i'm at work. Regarding the 1.5 patch, surely simbin tested it out though as its supposed to be enhancing the multiplayer aspect and correcting the existing problems ?

The server has not been patched to 1.5

If you've not upgraded you should be able to get it fine. There was 17 of us there a moment ago

Oh well, better go and practice for Donny, as my Championship hopes are now fading fast!  :-[

Did you 'upgrade' to 1.5?

Boy I hate that track. 40 minutes of bland right angles with dodgy camber... uuurgh ;)

Had a dismal qually to get 13th. Started fairly well though and had a good fight with Picnic and Mark J for a fair few laps, each of us 0.5 of a second away from each other. Up to 8th before an spin (just as I was thinking "this is going well, hope I don't spin!" ;)) Back on in about 15th and made a few places back before smacking into a wall and loosing the splitter in 11th. Requested a pit straight away but then thought, if I'm 13 secs up on 12th and only loosing 3 secs a lap without the front wing I might as well try to hold on to the place on the track rather than give it away by pitting. Apart from the understeer the car felt pretty good. Had a consistent run, closing in ona  freshly spun Mark before he got up to speed and zoomed away and then passing a spun Rich to grab 10th. Front wing on the GT car to 1, that's for sure  ;D

What a race, i had to fight from start to finish. Had a great first 25 mins with picnic glued to my backside whilst trying to catch Pops who was 1-2 secs in front, then saw picnic and zacari tussling behind me which gave me a breather for a few laps until zacari was then all over me. He then had a lock up whilst right behind me and i went past the spinning pops then rich a also spinning. Suddenly the giddy heights of 4th where i stayed until 4 minutes from the end with the recovering rich_A giving me serious pressure which in the end told as my rear broke away under braking. After the resulting spin i was just gaining speed as the unfortunate zacari came round the corner at full pace and rear-ended me. I had damage to aero and bodywork and it just slid off at turn 1 under braking and i had to watch gutted as cars 5th-10th went sailing past :'(
I got it back on track and crabbed it home damaged for the last few laps only to see Rich_A off the track again and gained a very hard earned 9th :)
Gutted i couldnt hold on for 4 more minutes to get my highest championship finish but kudos to the pro's who knew how to pressure me until the end 8)
Well done Pops too 8)

Wow! My best ever sprint result, 4th. Waaaay behind you fast boys in the podium slots but very chuffed with that performance even though I totally fluked it :)

Plenty of incident in that race, lots of spins toward the end as tyres got worn which helped me immeasurably.

Thanks to Edza right at the end for letting me past, I was shaking like a leaf thinking "don't screw up, don't screw up.." and really wasn't up to overtaking anyone :)

Well raced Mo, another fine win. Good points for Team Shark as well, with Pedro 2nd, me 6th & Picnic 7th.  :)

Qualified in 10th, but had a silly spin on the first lap after taking too much kerb which put me near the back. Had to fight my way back up through the grid, mostly as people went off but with a couple passes for position which I think I pulled off cleanly. Spun off near the end letting Picnic past me, but he returned the favour at the next corner.

Tried to drive a lot more smoothly than normal, as I was worried about tyre temps. Did a quick practise before the race, and after 3 laps the rears on the Mosler were up to 110 C.

The first 27 mins were great, fighting with Jonzo and various cars on my rear. Then I binned it being silly and lost interest :( Dropped down to 10th but thanks to others' late on problems recovered a few positions but feel disappointed after the first 2/3rds went so well.

Hey ho, roll on Doni ;)

Well done Cods, it takes some perserverance and its frustrating to start with but you'll find race by race you improve as you get familiar with the cars and more importantly the tracks. I know cos i was in a similar boat only a few weeks ago and now i'm getting to have some great dices with the big boys  ;D .....still slipping off on occasion mind ;) but having great fun all the same :) 8)

Qualed in 4th and finished a very hard earned 3rd.
Managed to keep up with the 3 leaders for a few laps but soon realised that I was killing my tyres so decided to back off a little.  Then Rich spun and I was up to 3rd.  Didn't take him long to catch me and we were nose to tail for many laps.  I did consider letting him past but knowing how difficult it is to pass in the NGT's I pressed on, thanks for keeping it clean mate there were plenty of opportunities to attempt a risky pass.
Overall a brilliant nights racing.
Cheers

My first real race after my broadband was finally installed, then fixed!
Was terrified nervous but had an absolute blast of a time. Really didn't want to impede the people who were going to lap me (and by god there was a few :) ) but thankfully didn't take anyone off. Had a great view of battles between Mo and Pedro and then Greg and Pops, maybe there's something to be said about being this slow ;)

Got a PB in qualy and then beat it by two seconds in the race so needless to say, no matter how crap I was or how much I hate that track, there's progression in my drivin a transpirin'!

Thanks all for loads of fun and congrats to the podium three, bring on Donny!

I like Brno as it always prized those drivers who do not overdrive their tires. If you find this sweet spot just before your rear end snaps into spin and use your steering wheel very gentle, it can be one of the most forgiving circuits in GTR - wide and smooth.

After qualifying third thanks to Mo and Rich the race begun very calmly. Seeing two Porsche's in front of me I could only hope for a miracle considering fast nature of the track and huge tire wear of my F360. As expected I could only push Rich, but probably wouldn't overtake him if not due to his tiny mistake.
Rest of the race was just "motivating" Mo to drive his best and praying to the Czech gods for Mo spinning "just a little bit!" :D After 10 or more laps it was clear that my tires were in much worse condition and I wouldn't stand a chance to catch him (of course it was tire wear not his excellent driving :)) so I just  reduced my pace and slowly finished second.

Good race after all. Especially bumper to bumper driving witch Rich.

Had great quali in 2nd and good start. I made a last minute change taking some off rear slow rebound which kept too much weight on rear for braking. Caused me some bother mid turn.. finally finding some speed with rear engine cars although still along way off a good setup.

I'm sorry if anyone saw my spins towards the end, bit embarrasing only I couldn't believe my rears were that cooked - live and learn.. I guess you might think i'm a bad looser, hmm that's something I got to work on too lol. :D

Grats Mo and close only 4 seconds behind for you Perdro, well done.

Like everyone I was struggling with tyre temps and had increased the anti roll bars by a few clicks to help keep things cool.
This was not good for braking however and stopping was unpredictable to say the least.  :o

For the first while I thought I wouldn't be able to keep Rich_A behind - he was clearly much later on the brakes than I could risk - and putting in some good times.
But Rich eventually ran wide which allowed Pedro through who kept the pressure on me for the whole race.

From about half  distance though I could tell my tyres had lasted well and temps never went above 90 so was able to cruise home.
Pedro was never far behind though .....   lookin forward to Doni  :)

Shame I couldn't keep it on the black stuff.. as I said rear had too much weight under braking and especially going into up hill Turn 10 [no names] rear wouldn't lift and all that weight caused a spin I couldn't hold. Maybe if there had been a pit I could have made the leap but then again maybe not.

I find that I have to run rear anti-roll bar at at least 20 on the porker to keep it on the road consistantly.
This makes the front relatively soft which means that the brake bias can be moved forward, which saves the rear tyres and helps avoid those nasty unpredictable spins under braking  8)

Just to say that definately wasn't me!  I'd retired well before you got rear-ended (in fact, I watched the incident from the pits!).

I had all sorts of issues last night.  Firstly my screen resolution changed when I selected to enter the server, had to disconnect and run config to sort it out.  Then had very low fps (between 15 and 40 depending on where I was on track, rather than 70 - 90 usually).  changed config again and had same issues, so did 15 mins of quali in race setup and it seemed like I could keep the car on the road ok.  That was the first, and only time I've been online with GTR and had any sort of issue, so I guess I'm lucky really!

Started about 15th, had Tuetom up my 'pipes for the first few laps until I broke too late and he skipped past.  I'd made a guess at the setup and it was basically undrivable, lost it 3 or 4 times and decided I'd rather retire than possibly collide with one of the leaders.  Was some great close racing near the front, there was always a battle to watch from the pits! :)

Mark! If it was to the end of the race and in the last corner before start/finish line, it could have been me that hit you. I didn't have anywhere to go, you can see it from the replay. It was not intentional, anyway and I'm sorry if it cost you time.

For me the race begun with a disaster. I allways wondered how people succeded to spin during the formation lap. Well, now I know...  :-[

Had to fight through the grid and was having more fun than usual with Picnic, Mark@, Zacari, Aagramn, PaulW, Jamera,... Was sweating like a  :P until I came through. 5th place was therefore a premium.

Ehm, formation lap will never look the same to me...  ;D

Ah sorry for the mix up Zacari & truetom..i had so many great battles i lost count with who i was racing at any particular time.

No problem at all Truetom on the rear ending, the difference in speed at that corner is considerable if one car's not travelling full pace. I was just getting back towards race speed but know that corner is almost a flat 3rd gear if you've taken a good line through it, theres also no way you could have changed direction or hit the brakes without spinning off yourself. I had no intention of reporting it as malicious or wrong.
Unfortunately for me, the subsequent damage and scrubbed tyres meant that when i braked as normal for the following fast turn 1, the car just crabbed off towards the gravel and i sat there and almost blubbed as i watched 5th - 10th drive by after such a hard fought 36 mins of tough racing :'(
I'm not complaining, i had a great race, just didnt reap my reward.

Kudos to the top 3, i dont know how you manage such pace in similar cars....can i have your setups please ;) :-*

Hi Guys I like bruno . I had a new set up and it did save the rear tyres. Made sure to start at back so as to keep out of trouble and **** me if some one managed to spin in front of me in the opening laps so ended up having to work my way up through the field again. Paul W its a good job I did not know of your splitter prob or I may have tried harder to catch you :(. Quite a good run however. I had upgraded by the way and then paniced put on the 1.4 patch and it seemed to work ok bye for now gerald

Well I really enjoyed the whole race, pretty clean for me as well with no spins  ;D
Did however have one incident with Blaz I think, on the long uphill drag before the second to last turn. I got a much quicker run out of the previous turn and after Blaz pulling across to block my overtaking line (nice move by the way  ;) ) I slipped to the inside, obscuring my view of a 360 having problems on the brow of the hill. Unfortunately because I was mid way through my passing move I left Blaz nowhere to go and he was sandwiched between us, become airbourne (awesome, check the replay ;D ) Sorry mate...

All in all though I had a good race, qualified 11th finished 8th and some fantastic battles along the way

Mark!

I watched the replay and yes, it was me. You spun and you were comming back on track, accelerating when I came and we were directly on the racing line. I didn't see you until just the impact, sorry, couldn't have prevented it other than going into the wall myself which my self-preservng subconcionesness (how the **** do you spell this?)  didn't allow. My replay time is 1915, yours is probably similar so you can look it up. You were doing good at the time (before the spin, that is), so you need more luck, as you're (too) fast allready! Looking forward to next race.   :)
