GT Sprint Cup - Season 2, Round 4 at Brno

Date: Tuesday 6th December

Practice 1: 8:30pm (15 mins)
Qual 2: 8:45pm (28 mins)
Warmup: 9:13pm (2 mins)
Race: 9:15pm (40 mins)

Cars allowed: Any GT car or Corvette or Viper G2. (Seat Toledo is allowed but will not score points.)

Notes:
(1) Full time drivers should arrive during Practice 1 if possible. Reserve Drivers can take spots AFTER 8:40pm (5 mins to go in practice 1) to give Full Timers big enough chance to join.
(2) Server Password has been emailed to those registered racers for the relevant race. Please contact a member of the admin team to get the password if you are registered and have forgotten or not received the password. It will not be given out in the GTR chatroom as that is a public place. The password wont change for the season unless there are security concerns.

Just to be clear this race will still use version 1.4 of GTR. We hope to evaluate Luis' GDB stuff over the weekend. If and when we adopt it we shall give as much notice as possible and leave the main server running to allow people to test.

Pb in qually and had a good chase with Greg in the race.
He was just too fast for me, I think I drove as best I could but Greg could always eek out an extra half second when I thought I was catching. Great race though, thoroughly enjoyed the chase  :) Nice race all and Grats to Greg  ;D

First up, BIG apologies to Wilier for the tap. Completely my fault, I missed my braking point and took a stop/go straight afterwards. Sorry for the two places I lost you :-\

Brno is my weakest track and I've been too busy to practice for it the last few days so it was never going to be pretty. As it happens it was a fairly unevenful race apart from my shunt and some pretty rash barging from another car very early on. Just tootled around :)

Congrats Greg, excellent pace at the front of the field.

Managed a 1:56.4 in qualifying which was good for 9th at the time, but my PC locked-up on me. Just had time to get back in and put in a rough lap before the qual session ended, but it put me back to 14th.

The race was great fun.  :) Lots of close racing, at one point me & Wilier passed a slow Ferrari on both sides. Worked my way up to 8th , then I had a great scrap with Fozz for at least 25 minutes. Most of the time I was within half a second. I had a little more pace, but wasn't able to get close enough in the big braking zones. Got past once, but I ran wide and gave Fozz back the place. Well raced Fozz.

I need to check the replay now. Had a couple of very near misses, don't think there was any contact but need to check what the server replay shows.

Started from 8th and thought I'd have a busy race.
The three guys in front of me got all tangled up and went off together. Added to a couple of places I nabbed on the first lap that put me in 3rd, where I stayed for the rest of the race.

I couldn't catch Greg and JonM up the front even after a couple of fast laps so I just hung on to the end trying to keep tyres cool.

Congrats on a fine win Greg and a great follow by JonM  8)

Odd feelings after this race tbh. Really enjoyed the frst few laps with myself PauWl and Aagram trading a bit of paint, but then a tad miffed when Paul tagged me into the barriers and I lost my splitter and 90secs in the pits in the process :( Although fair play for the stop-go matey. (git tbh ;))

Good thing was though, the Lister felt great for the rest of the race.....might make it my regular car now ;)

This is the incident Aagram described, quite how we managed it without taking us all out I dont know.  ;D

Tough race all round but well chuffed with pole and the win.

Must say a big thanks to Mark Jonzo for pulling over in qual, that was my pole time lap mate, thanks. ;D

Somehow I've managed to loose approx 1.5 secs of my normal pace at Brno, could GTL be to blame or is it just lack of practice in general ?  Cant believe I did a 1:54 in the race last season, couldn't manage that in qual now.

Must admit I didn't expect to hold Jon off for the win, my tyres were completely shot for the last 3 laps.  It was like being chased by a robot for 40 mins, any mistake and Jon would have been past me.

Wish I could find that sort of pace at all the other tracks but Brno is probably the only place where I can live with the big boys.
Well chuffed with the win, dont get to many of those.

In the past there's not been a prob as long as no names / cars mentioned. Is this not the case now?

Anyway Issues at the start of the race saw me in 11th, worked my way to 7th mostly by people falling off, then had a superb race with Aagram, super hard work, 0.3 diff between us for so many laps, finished 0.1 difference at the end. Crazy pressure.

I'm not sure there was any swapping of paint, certainly my car was undamaged at the end. Was awfully close though - I'm waiting to see what the server replay shows. Great screen-shot btw, I'm the Lister that's nearly on the grass.  :)


A gentle reminder to all that we're not supposed to discuss race incidents on the forums beyond a brief mention in the race report. There is nothing inflammatory in the posts above, but all the same it's best to avoid naming any drivers where there is any potential for disagreement. I don't have any problems with issuing apologies on here, but a PM would be better.

Server replay and provisional results now available.

Had a good qualy sesh getting a PB and 11th on grid with a 1:56.8, so only a few hundreths off the next 5-6 cars in front of me.
I knew i had a good race setup in the Saleen and was very hopeful of a top 10 finish.

Race started really well, worked my way upto 6th or 7th after first few laps and cars spinning up ahead. Whilst staying with the guy ahead and under no pressure, i double downshifted at the top of the hill near lap end (stupid paddle >:() and the car went into an immediate backward spin and punctured the rear tyre and beached the car.  :(  It wouldnt move for love nor money with the pit agonisingly close around the very next corner. :'(
I was gutted as i really like Brno and run pretty well there and felt comfortable in the Saleen.
First time i've been 'beached' in GTR  :(
Big shame.

Bad luck Mark.  :( I've only ever had that problem in the Morgan - thought it was the running boards!

Hi No one has mentioned this and it may only have happened to me. I had a ping of 19. at the start a car flew past me doing about 500mph it then stopped dead and I drove though it then it was stationary in front of me again . Any one else have similar probs?.bye for now gerald
