Mid-America? I don't think I ever did anything here. Will try it. So: which car, Legzy? ;)

well, i can add a 1:25.8 (f430) and a 1:26.0 (f360) AND a 1:26.2(996 rs) all on a more-or-less default setup...
must say i quite like this circuit even though i`ve never even heard of it before!

Going against any kind of faint realism, the track probably doesnt exist anymore. :P

Let me throw down the gauntlet here... 1:26 after my first little session. :)

H@L's concentrating on putting together the season ahead together & has trusted me on this one. I've only raced here once, but it was cracking. Looking at the results from that PnG race, no particular 'type' of car (ie muscle cars) had a significant advantage, which led to some great racing 8)

For anyone worried about learning the track (I doubt more than a couple will have even heard of it), I did it by starting at the back of an AI grid and following them. When in race session, the track has quite a good visible "dirty race line" to follow too. It all helps ;)

I did it again last night when i tried the track out last night. I start my first timed lap but didnt recognise any of the track or scenery from the lap before. Thought maybe the timing was out or the track went on forever.

Well I recall having a cracking PnG race here a couple of seasons ago, so can't wait to give the 997 cup car a blast  :thumbup2:

Edit  1:25....1:26 ?  :o   I thought this was supposed to be a fun race

it is a fun race - i find it useful to know what pace people are lapping up front. Itnjust helps with my race preparation.

BTW Spanner , this is a real track and is continual use ....

1.23's for both the 997 and the F430. 50L of fuel for both but the 997 had soft fronts on.

With it being so flat with no real scenery and no barriers i find it difficult to get into a rythym and end up basically aiming at the the curbs and end up being aggressive. Doesnt seem to punish to much either. The porsche is magic round here but only tried 997, will try 996 to see how it compares.

I'm in on this one... great track  ;D

Posting some Pic's of my latest modding of my pedals. (Hope it will make me faster ;D )
Bought me a Leo bodnar 12bit A/D converter for a better resolution compared to my old 8bit thingy for the pedals. Also sprayed the pedal stand and the pedal arms in a yellowish colour, had the cans just laying around and thought it was better then nothing at all  . Modded the break pedal with some MCU elastomer from my OLD MTB suspension fork, for a more progressive feel = Way more realistic and natural.

Well I recall having a cracking PnG race here a couple of seasons ago, so can't wait to give the 997 cup car a blast  :thumbup2:

Do you have a setup for the beast Tudor?

I messed with the default and got it to 1:25.5 but I'm not sure the tyres are going to last long.  Left front has tendancy to catch fire in T1 and T3.

Nice!

That is good work and not too far off the very highly priced (and apparently excellent) G25/27 perfect pedal mod:
http://www.perfectpedal.com/whispepe.html
It uses a shock similar to the ones that you find on a mountain bike according to insidesimracing.

See you all Sunday. :)

That should make picking one easy ::) Grrrr!

Good to see about 9 people making it onto the server for practice tonight over a few hours 8)

Low 24s in race trim in the cup car and creeping into 23s in my first quali run. Those long sweeping bends are great for the Porsche but those right/left quick direction changes are catching me out occasionally. I'll be a sitting duck for any Viper on that long s/f straight though.

That was really annoying when you had sent me your setup and I could only make the mid 25s with it!

Guess that I am having trouble coming to terms with how much grip these things have got.

my best has been a 25.4 in the TVR but i wont be racing it as the view from in car is terrible! all you can see is roll cage! to set a benchmark with the car i switched to "bonnet view" which made placing the car much easier but then it all felt too "arcade" and despite the pace i didnt much enjoy it!   F360 for me i think (1:25.8 in race trim)
I just hope last nights fantastic UKGPL 1967 GT race hasn`t affected my chances too much for GTR 2 - the cars are so different to drive!

Don't force yourself about driving view, Blito. I drive "bonnet" everywhere I can as I enjoy that most. Firstly it was because I couldn't see a anything out of any car, now it's just 'cause I like it. :)

Is ****** too bad a word to use here? :-X

Edit- yes it was.

Many thanks to both Tudor and Jon for their donations of setups for the 997.

Think that I have settled on Jon's latest offering, which has allowed me to sneak into the 24s in qually mode.

Crossing fingers and touching wood it still looks as though I might make this one.  ;D

So you can relax TT, I will have punted Legzy off long before you see him.

Your English teacher must have been a real piece of work to bring on that sort of terror after so long!

I shall not be able to post anything now, for fear of giving you nightmares about English grammar lessons.

How come one of my AI is called Legzy?  I have been practicing on him and he hasn’t finished a race yet with both brake lights working.

When you skin a car, you normally list yourself & teammates as the possible AI drivers of that car. So you must have been racing against a Team Oldie skinned car. ;D
It's a feature I like, but I've never 'encouraged' Jonzo off the track while practising :whistling:

AARRGGHH. Was having a great race close battling with Legzy, TT and MJ until I pitted only to find some other car in my box. Didn't have enough fuel to go round again, so burnt it on the straight   That's 2 nights in a row my race has been ruined in the pits.

I HATE PITSTOPS

cracking race that, shame it all went wrong for me after a bad pit call  ::)

Had only done half hour praccy prior to the event but cracked in some quick laps in qually to grab 4th on the grid  :)

At the start i lost two places thanks to my indecisive teamie TT on the s/f line  ::) but then had great fun for about 40minutes battling with the top 5 throughout. Gradually they all pitted and found myself out front with still plenty of fuel so carried on.But i should have stopped earlier as worn tyres were costing me 1 sec a lap.

At my stop i thought i would need something clever so just took new front tyres as rears were only on 13 wear. All went okay with the stop and i rejoined 4th with legz and co about 5 secs ahead and thinking i had 20 laps to chase them back down again. Alas, my tactical choice of just new front tyres was a complete disaster..the car turned into an oversteering mess that just could not stop itself spinning  :'( 3 quick spins in first few laps after the pitstop dropped me to 8th. It just became undriveable so i quit as nothing left of race to do anything about positions.

Very frustrating after such a great battle in top 5.

Apologies to any of the viper drivers i had love taps with. I had so much more mid corner speed and traction that it was impossible to avoid you when you lifted mid apex's plus if i lift mid-apex in a 911, its spin time.

Great turn out...where were you lot in the actual race season?! Great race. Bad result !

Post by: blito on January 23, 2011, 09:53:14 PM +0000
oh boy, that was scruffy :(

in qually i was stunned by my own lack of pace... over a second a lap slower than i was this morning!!!

Start was messy as the field bunched before the start line - i was watching the car behind in my mirror and drove into the back of a white f-430. Sorry whoever it was.
So, with a broken front splitter and naff-all front grip i plodded round to the pit stops, which went well for once!
I rejoined and set off after the guys in front which i caught with ease, but as i caught a green 911, it spun and i narfed him resulting in some more debris and once again, no front grip!

And just when it couldnt get worse, i decided to have a look at a "bonnet view" and so pressed shift to cycle through the options.... Would some one like to explain to me what exactly "stickykeys" is? whatever it is it dumped me back to windows!

Anyhow, i recovered  my composure and had a little fun on track towards the end... sorry to raceline for the coming together, i`m really thought we had more space!!!

anyhow.. great turn out, shame about the scrappy driving (mostly from me!!!)

that was an exciting race, i have to apologise to whoever it was that i hit on the warm up lap just as we all slowed up to put our rev limiters on before the start, i got caught out as the pace on the warm up lap was very fast. i enjoyed the rest of the race, got some good practice following other cars closely

I think it showed that I did a bit of practice for this one. Was still surprised at the gap to 2nd in qually tho' :o

My race went as smooth as any race ever goes. I built up a nice lead in the 1st 15/20 laps and just relaxed from that point really. No pressure was on the pitstop so just put a bit extra fuel in to be sure of finishing the race.

It was a nice test for me, though I made quite a few errors I was really pleased overall :)

Hopefully see you at the next one  ;D
Well done all 8)

I was really enjoying that too mate, hard luck. Had you forgotten to press your 'pit request' button? Or had someone else not pressed their pit request & stollen your spot?
Bummer either way :(

Very, very sorry about the start.   ::)

Someone had just told me that it was a rolling start but my brain jumped out of gear.

I was messing with the XD thingy because it wouldn’t show me the view that lets you mess with the pit stop settings on the fly.  Panic!!!

Then I looked over at the lights just as they went green so I went....................Straight into the back of the car in front who, surprise, surprise, hadn’t moved.

Then I stalled the engine and couldn’t tell what was going on because of the noise of the other cars.

I eventually set off after the pack and just about caught sight of them as I rounded the last corner.

I was now in tune with what was going with the “safe rolling start” procedure and was thus staggered to find the straight littered with cars.

I just managed to miss them and was then able to start my race.

The race was fun and with a late pit stop I peaked at 4th.

I didn’t change tyres and was on my way in reasonable time.

Some good battles along the way.

Ah!, apologies to TT then, sorry mate  :-[, should have known it was that Legzy fella causing all the trouble...he's just not used to being in the top 5  ;) ;D

Was great fun mixing it with the Top 4 vipers and TT's vertigo last night, though slightly frustrating when they left me for dead on the straights every time  :P

With great racing like that, its Proof that there is life in the old dog that is GTR2 yet !  :)  Just need to use that NAGP GT2 car pack now and all would be good in the world  8)

Nice scooter, this Vertigo. :) Was on par with Legzy in his Viper, especialy at the last turn, then he always drove away and gained a whole second on the s/f straight. Was getting in my way(!) as Goldtop was all over me and was always very tight in the first turn. Replay is fabulous. :-* Then MJ came into play and it was really :scared: :w00t: :scared: :w00t:  ... up to the point where we had a contact with Goldtop - side by side through these corners gets a bit tight. Sorry buddy. :-\ Waited as I was looking forward to the second part of the duel, but. :-\ After pitting I gained some places through the misfortune of others - MJ comes to mind - and then cruised as I didn't have enough time to close the gap to the Viper. Great race, flawed by one particular contact that ended the dreams of a podium. :-\ I know, I know, Vipers are at the top, though Vertigo could be right there in the middle. Seems strange porkers are so far behind, it seemed the car best balanced for both winding and straight parts of the track.

Grats to Jon, who was in his own class and thanks all that were around for an interesting race - too many to name them all. Nice to see 18 drivers on grid. :)

Blito's F360 is listed as NGT class ???

is that a reporting error is was i really driving a different class of car to most others?
if thats the case then what difference should that make to performance? I was shocked by my lack of pace last night after some good practise times in the week... i`m looking for a ray of sunshine here after a very dark day for my GTR career  LOL!

Nice to see 18 drivers on grid.
Even better to see 19 though ;)

If I was to guess, it's probably a mapping thing, as you could only have picked a GTC car on the server. Sorry if that's bad news ;)

Was having a great race close battling with Legzy, TT and MJ until I pitted only to find some other car in my box.
I was really enjoying that too mate, hard luck. Had you forgotten to press your 'pit request' button? Or had someone else not pressed their pit request & stollen your spot?
Bummer either way :(

Forgot to map the pit request button after setting up the new wheel  ::) Got away with it in the previous night's race at RD, that was just me failing to notice I had picked up some damage when I made my selection. Still hate pitstops though :(

oh boy, that was scruffy :(

in qually i was stunned by my own lack of pace... over a second a lap slower than i was this morning!!!

No prob bilto.....
