Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk ECCC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=271&theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Well we've finally reached the end of the tour and our host is a circuit that doesn't exactly suit either of the cars were left with. The Aston appears to have the speed advantage but it won't be at ease with some of the turns. The Merc takes the corners in it's stride but lacks oomph on that long back straight.

Your choice, enjoy.

No idea which car I'll choose, but there are only two possibilities left  ;D

The practice server is set to run different cars.

Pretty sure I had this setup OK on Monday night. As I'm at work now I cannot access the server to check.

What track/car choice is being offered?

Track is Mantorp, but the cars are 3 other makes - Shelby and I forgot the other two.

I did some practice with both the Aston Martin and the 300SL. Must say that both are very tricky to drive, but the Aston Martin has the upper hand on lap times, at least for me - it's about 0.5-1 second quicker per lap. I really like the track, except that very narrow 90 degree right turn. Is it a real track? Some sections look very similar to Anderstorp.

1.36.8 in the 300SL so far after only a few laps offline.

Very sensitive on braking hard at the end of the back straight!
Still hope to find a way to eliminate that deficiency.

Tony don't know if there is a problems with this track or the server.  I joined, only the valid cars available and all went OK until about 2/3 rds way on first lap lost the connection.  When I tried to rejoin I couldn't - after typing in password, the join icon went blank then after a few seconds reappeared.  Rebooted computer and tried again, same result. after a few more tries got connected but it looked like the full GTC-65 cars were available.  Joined did a few laps with DB4GT and quit - rejoined with same large selection of cars available.

About the re-connection problem, it's a known issue with the rFactor/GTL engine. When you get disconnected it's usually impossible to join the same server again for 5-10 minutes. It doesn't happen to everyone, but I've had it happen to me and I've seen others experience that. It's either a bug or some sort of "feature".

If the Mantorp Park track is problematic then the substitute circuit will be Anderstorp Grand Prix. No. off laps will be revised to suit.

There's definitely something odd about this track. It runs a little jerkily on my otherwise-OK system, and when I tried a race against the AI the other night it insisted on starting me on the grass to the right of the grid. That's not to say it won't work for us tonight, just to warn that there are mysterious goings-on occurring in southern Sweden!

The track comes with a readme txt which says to lower the shadows settings to help out with that stutter issue. I'm running it on Low settings and it's very smooth now. There's also a supposedly better fps .trk file, but my car fell through the 3d when I tried that so i had to revert back to the original.

It's just the track being heavy on graphics, so it depends on the PC. I don't know about online though, but I would expect any such issues to be caused by something else.

I did 6 or so laps off line with both cars and saw no issues. not tried on line yet
as the Race07 stuff was running.

Hmm, maybe my fast in slow out driving style, but I was nearly 2 secs faster in the Aston
Me and Phil (Phil and I for my mum's benefit) will be in the Team Pseudo mercs tonight anyway.

The Aston doesn't gain as much time on the straights but it definitely excels under acceleration, particularly out of the slowest corners. And it's not much slower, if at all, than the 300SL through most corners. TBH I find the Merc quite a handful, it just snaps for no reason while the Aston is more progressive.

Tony with it's long straights will this become a Aston fest?  Not got time to check out but having done one flying lap in Aston at 2 min (I'm parc driver) I think the North or South tracks should be considered to help Merc be competitive.  Gut feeling.  ::)

If we get disconnected and unable to re join how will we know what's happening except for sitting there forlornly in the Lobby?

At least two of us will be taking the Merc. As Hristo has pointed out, the Aston is not much faster on the straights. I vote for keeping things as they are unless we have technical problems, but there seems to have been little sign of them in others' testing.

::) Total disaster. After a reasonable quali performancefor P2 but no where near Itchov in P1 I finally got a great start and took the lead.  ;D
Losted it though within 4 laps to Itchov and decided to run my own pace after seeing the tyre wear and fuel useage. I could not believe it when lap 25 rolled up and the fuel light came on. I had put 34 laps of fuel in at the start...weird.  ??? So came in stuck 15 laps of fuel in and went back out in P4. Pushed on hard, passed Geoffers when he spun, and closed on Syd.  :).....When the fuel light came on again on lap 30 I just got the hump.  >:( ::) :-[ and held out for 2 more laps....It died at the end of lap 31 in the pit lane.....What an end to a enjoyable season. I guess I must practice more, I did short gear it, but to be so far out on fuel is very strange?  ???

Did anyone see fuel leaking out of my car.  ;D

Congrat's to Itchov, Syd and Geoffers well done guys.  ;)

Again many thanks Tony for a really fun championship.  :)

Mark, that Aston sure eats a lot of fuel, I noticed that during my offline practice runs. The mileage prediction in the setup screen is completely wrong, so I just fueled it up to the top for the race. In the end I had about 2/5 of fuel left in the tank, so it wasn't that bad. The tires were gone though, lol... lots of mistakes in the 2nd half of the race, and a complete spin with 2 stalls on the very last lap.

A lot of add-on tracks have inaccurate fuel estimates.

XD always tells you exactly how much fuel you burn in a lap. For example in praccy tonight my Astons XD showed 1:93 litres per lap.  So I fuelled up for the start with 64 litres (I always add a little for luck).

Grats Hristo on the win, and Geoffers for third.
I started well, and built up  5 second lead over Geoffers over the first 10 laps, but then my tires went off, and I was toast. Geoffers caught me back up, and we had a big battle for some 15 laps. He was clearly faster, but I had speed advantage on the straights, so I managed to hold on until Geoffers made a mistake with some 5 laps to go. And then I suddenly noticed I was in second place. Tough lack Mark. My xd was showing about 2l per lap usage so I put in 70l for the race.

Had an entertaining race, fighting with Matt & Phil in their SL's ...... sometimes even caught in between the 2 of them. My tyres were struck by fatigue ;D, but from what I could tell, the SL's struggled even more with the tyrewear.

You must have been a bit stressed Mark ...... you asked during practice, if the fuel consumption was correct, and I answered that it was not, and that you should calculate almost 2 littres / lap for the DB4. It's a good thing, that it had no influence on the result of the season !

Congrats to the season podium, and thanks a lot Tony for puttting the whole thing together.

No problem Hotkeys it was all my fault....Not paying enough attention to fuel and trying to beat your lap time

Good race & good result for me.  ;D

Although the Aston was about a second quicker, I don't enjoy driving it, so went with Merc, more chance of making the finish I reckoned. Got a good start & was 3rd for the first lap until Hristo recovered from his bad start. Couldn't stay with the 3 leading Astons to start with & kept making silly little mistakes but after about 8 laps I got into a good rhythm & start to close up on Syd.

However catching was one thing, getting past quite another, Syd was making it very wide through the twisty bits & then pulling away on the straights. Moved up a place when Mark pitted & a few laps later I got close enough into the last turn to make a dive up the inside of Syd. He held his line around the outside & we had a drag race to T1, thought I might get him on the brakes but again Syd held his line & I got up on the inside kerb & spun. Dropped back to 4th behind Mark & was lucky to get 3rd back when Mark ran out of fuel. Bad luck Mark.  :(

Congrats to Hristo & Syd   & also to Mark & Ade in the championship.

Thanks Tony another fine car/track combo.  The good thing about it was I managed to setup the Aston so that I could actually drive it and was chuffed in the race for the first 12 or so laps able to race it.

Congrats to the race podium and the Series podium winners. Amazed myself in the free practice with my time, almost competitive - not so good in qualifying or the race. Made an average start and manage to pass a few people who had incidents.  Spent a while in around 8/9th racing with Tony, actually managed to stay ahead of him for a while but he was really pushing me and in the end I ran wide on entry onto that long straight and got gobbled up by 2 or 3 cars.  Then I ran wide into that chicane before the hairpin and regained track in last place, all in less than a lap.
I chased hard and eventually caught Alex and got by but he fought back continually and kept me honest right up the end.

Thanks Bill Thomas although the car choice was not really down to me  ;)

Don't know what they've been putting in your Horlicks but you were on top form last night. Really enjoyed our battles and looking forward to crossing swords again. Whilst we seem to have the same speed, I think my mechanics had given me better brakes and this meant I could brake later than you into those tighter turns.

So glad to last to the end for a change and thought that the track was better then I had expected. It definitely caught me out a couple of times when I had "off's".

Arrg you've almost cracked it. Actually, it's down to old age, lack of feel (drive in socks), I have difficulty in not locking up under heavy braking: the faster the car the further it travels in my reaction time.  Qualifying isn't too bad but in racing I need to be more conservative to prevent too many offs.

You can turn on countdown in options. Then you get 3,2,1, go at the start. You move on go, not 1.

Yeh, I always use the countdown as it is the only reliable way to start. Most tracks are OK using the start lights, but some don't have them & others are mistimed so if you go on the lights you get a jumped start. Of course another occasional problem is that from certain grid positions you can't see the lights due to the rear-view mirror being in the way, had that in P&G  ::).

Unofficial LapChart (http://www.justanotherpage.nl/Srou/GTL/MantNov11/)

Tons of fun this race. Had some nice battles all during the race especially with Bill.
Because you were faster on the straights I had to succumb to some bold moves. Hope you also view than as 'hard but fair' racing  :-\

Lack of braking techniques in the end led to some unforced spins so came in last. You have won this battle Bill!  :fencing:

Congrats to the podium and many thanks to Tony to put together this format. It delivered some fine racing with less popular cars.

Hope to see some of you with the prototypes Monday @ Mugello. It's a good test for out Le Mans run end of December...

I'm not certain the Aston was faster, I think you perceived it to be because on the long straight I passed you but I think it was due to me being slower into corner and getting power down earlier than you whilst you had to get car  under control.  Regards driving standard that's OK  :thumbup1: we all have to make late lunges in those circumstances.  By giving each other room contact was usually side to side not a tap to the rear quarter of a car already pointing across over takers bows.  ::)

Yea won that one but it'll be a lot different with the more powerful cars I feel, battle to be resumed on Monday.  :wheelchair:

Did some more laps and the Aston is definitely a winner for me. Here's a comparison video of my current PBs:
