Count me in for this one. Now I've finally got my grubby mits on my desktop so now I can run GPL in all its glory  ;D. If I have a chance to pick a car, can I ask for anything except the Porshce?  ::) As lovely as it is to drive, I've found the thing a little gutless  :D.

As Samb and Fulvio have indicated that they will run on Friday, they will be in the WHITE team cars.

If Samb and Fulvio are volunteering for "Full Time " duties, we only need one more driver to complete a 5th team....anyone volunteering for the next 4 Friday evenings????

You can then have the pick of either the White or Black team and their cars on a permanent basis.   ;D

If Fulvio has gone full time should his 'guest' spot for Oranges be transferred to White? They actually benefited from H's absence! that can't be right :( Mind you, he'd have probably won it anyway...

I like the last paragraph:

"As epic a period as the ’60s was technically and aesthetically it was also, as we all know, a deadly time."

I learned from Fabio Locarno that there will be a race in Mexico on Friday with the GT mod .. I read the rules and from what I understand I will receive the Ford MK1 .. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Hi Andrea and welcome to UKGPL

If you wish to race Friday, that is OK.     You will be in the White team with Fulvio and Samb.

I think you will need to work with Fulvio and Samb to agree which car you each drive  Ford Mk1  or   Ferrari   or  Chapp 2D .

Tried a few laps with teh Mirage, and the middle bits are like trying to pilot an oil tanker around.

What type of times are people getting here? I'm about the 2 minute mark.

I had a 1:48 in the Chaparral yesterday in the BREASTS race, going to post a guide later today if I have time.

You should post your times on GPLRank, just so we can compare times and see how much I need to improve.

A track guide would be great, I hope you get time.

WE NOW HAVE ALL TEAMS FULL FOR FRIDAY'S RACE, WITH ONLY THE SINGLE WILDCARD PLACE FOR THE CHAP 2D LEFT!!!

NAMES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE MAIN RACE POST AT THE TOP OF THIS THREAD.

I WISH WE COULD HAVE A BIGGER GRID, BUT SADLY GPL WON'T ALLOW US THAT.

CAN WE RUN A SECOND SERVER FOR THOSE WHO STILL WANT SOME GT FUN?

If any permanent teams have spare places, then of course we can allow part-timers to fill the vacancies.

Anyone else who wants to race should post here and we can sort things out.

Holy moly this is hard - just had a quick praccy (just in case the wife gets better) and it is HARD. At least Oil Tankers turn eventually!

Sorry to let you down Captain, Mr. Wolf! It may turn out to be a blessing in disguise!

Go Blues

Here's a lap in the Chaparral and a track guide:

http://racingleague.co.cc/hikiwaza/track-guides/heating-up-at-mexico-city-in-the-chaparral-mk2f/

I've also commented on GT setups and included the few ones I have in my setup pack, so redownload it (updates to Instructions.txt as well to address the GT mod) if you want to take a look.

Thanks for the guide H, that helps me quite a bit. Good to know that I'm basicly there, just not able to carry the speed in the corners.

Just a note of the setup, I've gone the other way to you. I'm not an expert and if I'm honest I haven't sat down and thought it all out. On the Mirage I've made everything much stiffer, push the brake balance back to 51, lowered it and added much more toe in. I still find braking so difficult in these cars, I'm basicly only using about half of my brake travel in ordered not to lock the wheels.

This is the only way I can make it drivable for me, my tires heat up quite quickly, and I've got teh feeling there are going to over heat during the race. I also have too much oversteer which I need to work on.

I will try making the setup softer and see if that helps.

Maddog can certainly be a substitute for Paul if he does not make it.

If you can run a second server, and still race with us, that might be the simplest answer Nicky.

We have a UKGPL server on standby but i will have to PM someone to fire it up if we use that.

I have sorted the provisional results for this race but need to look at the server replay as some drivers vanished from my client replay and need investigating.

Goran, can you give me a link to d'load the server replay please.

Well with the forum back it's time for me to catch up on my race reports  ;D. That race was certainly very entertaining! If I'm honest my memory of the race is rather vague but I do remember making plenty of errors and somehow managing to lose it at the very sharp hairpin, losing about 10 places in the process. After that, it was a case of playing catch up passing plenty of cars but occasionally got a little confused not knowing which lap people were on.

I'm afraid as a result of that I made a mess at passing Ronnie when I thought I was lapping his car as he seemed to brake early for a particular corner after I had just passed Martin's Ferrari. I made a lunge from miles behind as I was eager to make up lost time but sadly Ronnie, quite correctly, took the racing line leaving me nowhere to go and hitting him from behind. Deeply sorry about that Ronnie. And just to rub salt in the wound few laps later I spun right in front of him and we collided again!

Well, I can safely say the Chapp 2D is nothing short of bulletproof given the amount of punishment I was giving it. I did an entire somersault in mid-air after hitting Bartosz, missed a few gears here and there buzzing the engine, collided with Ronnie twice and kept clipping the tyres on the insides of the corners. I imagine the engine will detonate on lap 1 at Reims now that I've said that  :).

I am reviewing the server replay of this race and there is a slight problem!!

I am sure that I remember seeing Natan Veksler running in this race??? but there is no sign of him on the replay???  It looks like the server dropped him just before the start and by a process of elimination I think he may have finished the race in 15th place???

Does anyone have any info on this???
